Hp Pavilion N5472 Laptop Screen With Horizontal Line
Replies: 4 | Post Date: March 2nd, 2004, 05:14 PM | User: Tomw Need Help | Forums: forums.devshed.comAnyway about a week ago, my hp pavilion n5472 laptop developed a horizontal line approx a quarter down the screen, and it just wont shift. Changes colour when i visit a website with colours, for example if the site is white, the line becomes green, if the site is black the line turns grey. Is there anything i can do to get rid of this line? When i try to 'mouse over' the line, it appears that the mouse goes under the line. If that helps to describe it :confused also is it likely that the line is an actual physical fault with the machine, or something to do with drivers and such.

Horizontal Screen Tearing
I have my 5850 crossfire setup displaying to 2 monitors. My samsung 23 inch 2048x1152 and my samsung 1080p tv. When i have both displays on, say i am watching a divx movie on one screen and web surfing on the other, i get a crapload of horizontal screen tearing, if the movie is playing it is worse, if the movie is paused it is not as bad. Does anyone else experience issues like this? If i only use one display it will not have the problem. My computer monitor is hooked up via dvi and my tv via hdmi. Ideas?

Black Screen With A Blinking Cursor Line
Trying to uipgrade windows from 95 to 98 i reformatted my hard drive and did other things i didn't know i was doing. Result: when i turn the computer on i get nothing except a black screen with a blinking cursor line. My hard drive recognizes nothing. Is there anything i can do to save the hard drive? If there is, how?

Dell Inspiron 1501 Screen Vertical Line
I recently got a new computer and my old dell inspiron 1501 got a vertical thick line in the left middle of the screen and it's not like it's crashing it's there no matter what i do. White Line On Laptop Lcd
My laptop lcd developed a 5 pixel high strange line across the screen less than halfway up. From top to bottom it looks as follows:
3 white pixel lines
1 normal pixel line
1 white pixel line
What makes it strange to me is that all of the white pixel lines can change, albeit very slowly. In other words, if i'm displaying a photo if i minimize it the "white lines" become darker, even to the point that when i restore the photo i can no longer see the white line at some points. I thought it would mean that there was some dead transistors but that would mean that no shading/color or change would happen right? Any bright ideas on what is happening and if there is hope at repair/solution?

I have an hp pavilion laptop ze1110 that has a hard drive that is about to die. The drive is accessible through a bay in the front of the laptop so it shouldn't be too difficult to change (i hope). Hp Pavilion Black Screen
I was recently giving a hp pavilion by my brother when he moved out of the house and he told me if i could get it running it was mine to keep. Apparently it crashed on him and he thinks the hard drive is messed up. The operating system is windows vista i know that. When i boot up the computer everything is normal until i get past the loading screen and it just gives me a black screen, i tried putting in the system recovery cd to wipe everything clean from the hard drive, but i boot it up get the black screen which after several minutes changes to a blue screen, then after several more minutes changes to a the system recovery screen. From there i tell it to restore to factory qualities then it freezes at 0%. Any suggestions as to what im doing wrong?

Hp Pavilion Xt858 No Beeps Screen Blank
This computer was booting properly a few days ago. It would bott to windows and then lock up a few minutes later. I powered it on and off so many times, i'm wandering if it was damaged. I get no beeps, the keyboard lights for a second and than goes off. I have tried a seperate pci graphics card and that brought up the hp screen for a second. That was the last i ever saw of it! I have tried booting without the hard drive to get me into dos. I can't even get into dos with a boot disk. There is no cursor on the screen. The fan is running on the cpu. The memory is correct. I have reset the bios jumper and reset the cmos battery. Nothing is working. Hp's site is terrible.

Hp Pavilion Dv6 Won't Run Games In Full Screen
My hp pavilion dv6 won't run games in full screen? I have a laptop hp pavilion dv6 windows 7 home premium. Any games i play won't run in full screen such as starcraft, warcraft, counterstrike, and etc. All those games have black bars left out on each side of screen and it's small. I hate it =_=. I've been searching on google how to fix it and some people said you can't play full screen games on windows 7 but i know it's not true because my girlfriend has hp g60-535dx laptop and it's also windows 7. One time she was playing game with me for fun and i was just messing around with her. She got mad and hit the keyboard crazy for 2 seconds until her screen(which was like mine) turned into full screen. From that point on, every games she plays on her laptop runs on full screen. And also when she clicks ctrl+shift+arrow buttons, the desktop changes into portrait, lanscape, upside down, etc. Can you guys help me to get my computer to run games in full screen? The screen is too small t. T i like it on full screen. And no the property setting change on games won't help. I can't even change the compatibility. How do you screenshot on an hp pavilion laptop computer? So i have an hp pavilion laptop and i have the [prt sc] key, but that key has something else labled on it as well which saids [home]. The part where it saids [home] is ubove the [prt sc] so it looks like this;

Horizontal Lines All Over A Monitor
My friend is having a problem with jagged, horizontal lines covering his monitor. This obviously sounds like a video card issue and he fixed it for the time being by removing his graphics card and is running through onboard support at the moment. Does this mean his graphics card is fried/ruined or is it reparable?
We were trying to figure out why this happened to his 8800gt since it was purchased in the last year. I asked him what his power supply wattage was and it turns out he was running a amd x2 4800+ and a 8800gt system on only 300w. So i'd assume the psu is the culprit. Is it not uncommon for inadequate power supplies to make video cards or other components fail like his did? Also i don't know if this has anything to do with anything, but he mentioned his heatsink fan dislodged from its sockets for a period of time. His cpu is fine though and suffered no damage. I'd like to make sure he gets this fixed because we spend a lot of time playing online games together. Do you think he'll need a new graphics card and psu? Hopefully the gfx card warranty is still valid if this is the case.

I have a problem with my charger or laptop. I really don't know which one at the moment. I have an hp pavilion dv3t-200 windows 7 home premium laptop. I noticed recently that whenever i plug in my charger the led light doesn't come on anymore even though the laptop is charging. I find that when i move around the charger a bit, the light starts to turn on and off and blinks. I also notice that when my battery power gets low, my computer starts to slow down or freeze and this never happened before until i upgraded from my vista to 7. Laptop Screen Problem
I have a big problem with my laptop screen. I have a hp zv6000 15. 4 widescreen. My laptop was fine. I put it in the case and traveled in the car with it for a few hours. When i took it out i now have this huge mark that basically goes from one corner to the other. Sort of an arch. I look very similar to a permanent marker. I found a dead pixel tester online and downloaded it to see. It seems that they the screen doesnt have dead pixels. I am assuming the only way to fix this is to replace the lcd screen itself. I was hoping maybe i could replace the inverter and be ok but i doubt it. I wanted to double check with someone that maybe has some experience with this issue.

When i took it out i now have this huge mark that basically goes from one corner to the other. Sort of an arch. I look very similar to a permanent marker. I found a dead pixel tester online and downloaded it to see. It seems that they the screen doesnt have dead pixels. I am assuming the only way to fix this is to replace the lcd screen itself. I was hoping maybe i could replace the inverter and be ok but i doubt it. I wanted to double check with someone that maybe has some experience with this issue.

Swapping Laptop Screen
What factors are relevant in determining screen compatibility between laptops? My laptop was taken out in a lightning storm, and it doesn't look like it's worth fixing. However, the screen is perfectly good. And there are a lot of people who'll sell laptops with busted screens for dirt cheap. So i figure if i can find a laptop in need of a new screen with which my old one is compatible, i can save some dough. There's the question of what happened to a laptop which has a dead or cracked screen, and whether or not i'd want it in light of whatever the *** happened to it. But it seems worth investigating to me. I know some obvious things - such as it having to the same size, of course. But i'm unaware of all the factors that need to be identical for one screen to work in another unit, or whether there are any resources out there that can simplify the process of determining compatibility. So if anyone could let me know what things must be identical in order for this to work, and if there are any websites, etc. That can help make the process of determining compatibility easier, that'd be great.

Broken Laptop Screen
So i had a stoke of bad luck and my laptop fell off the table, the screen is cracked and needs to be replaced, it will cost me 500+ to get it repaired so i was wondering if anyone could tell me exactly how hard it would be to buy the lcd screen and repair it myself, i've built countless desktops in my day so i'm good with computer hardware but have never delt with laptops before as far as building, so if anyone knows what it would take to do this please let me know. I don't know if it makes a different but the laptop is an alienware area-51 m5550 15. 4" screen, also if anyone knows where i could get the parts needed for this as well it would be very much appreciated.

Connect Laptop Screen To Tv
All i am wanting to do is present my movies thats on my laptop, on my tv for my family to enjoy with me! Please help. I have a usb to rca cable that i just bought offline. I have windows 7 and my laptop has the projector thing where i can duplicate, extend, or projector only picture. I don't know if i have to have some certain kind of software for it to work or something, but i know i just need help, and soon so we can have family night!

I know that the lcd might not fit, but could you theoretically change the lcd screens of two laptops or do they have different little connectors. Or even if they fit, would they not work?
