Usb Wireless Adapter Wont Connect
Replies: 3 | Post Date: 1 month ago | User: Vicvalen... | Forums: answers.yahoo.comI went to a clients house today, he has a windows xp machine running off a cable modem, and a wireless linksys router. I purchased a netgear usb wireless adapter, with excellent range, i installed cd rom software, and can see the wireless router sending off a signal at 65% bouncing to around 40%. When i connect, it either says limited connection or no connectivity. I reset the router, checked the wep password, etc, still cant get it to work. He says another tech came over awhile back and had the same issue and couldn't figure out why they could not get a successful connection. I to am having this trouble and would like to fix it soon! What should i do? Buy an actual router for his dell desktop to connect to the other router? If so will i have the same issue? What type of problems can this be caused by? And what are my options?

Ativa Wireless-g Usb Network Adapter Drivers Install Problem
I have ativa wireless-g usb network adapter and it's been a problem to install. Idk if this thing requires the software but i highly doubt it. The model site says it has vista drivers but they are in beta stage but i still tried to install them but for some reason the install wizard said they installed but there isn't any trace of any files in the main folder in program files and the app. Won't even start upon start-up.

Usb Malfunctions When Connect A D-link Dwl-g122 Wlan Adapter
I'm wondering why the usb malfunctions when i try to connect a d-link dwl-g122 wlan adapter, but works fine when i try to connect a casio digital camera. When the wlan is plugged in, windows gives me the "a usb device cannot be recognised as it has malfunctioned" baloon in the system tray. It's wierd because a couple of hours before it was fine. It's not just affecting a few ports, it's all of them, inclusing the front panel ports. I tried a clean install of windows xp, and that failed.

Why doesn't my laptop with a wireless usb drive connect to my wifi connection? Since my laptop doesn't have a wireless card, i got a wireless usb for it. The problem is that when it tries to find connections, mine doesn't show up. Even when i place my laptop next to my router, it still wont pick it up. At times it does show up, claims to have a low connection, and tries to connect but it then disappears again and doesn't connect after all. What should i do in this situation? Nothings wrong with the usb and it is compatible with my wifi so whats wrong?

Decent Wireless Adapter
I'm looking for a decent and cheap pci wireless adapter. I prefer wired, but i have to use wireless lately. I got a cheap-ass usb card that failed miserably for free. Then i ordered a gigabyte gn-wp01gs from newegg for it's favorable reviews. But apparently nobody uses it for gaming, because i get some bad packet loss. (Like 15-25%). It's ridiculous! My roommate has a wireless adapter built into his mobo and gets 0% packet loss, so i know it's me. I've tried a higher powered antenna on the card too. I get a great signal, just unreliable. I'm also on windows 7. I've heard that the new zero configuration type thing for windows 7 causes packet loss sometimes, but i haven't been able to fix it. Anyone either know how to fix packet loss on windows 7 or a card that won't have so much?

Wireless Adapter Broken
I can't really describe it but my rosewill rnx-easyn1 wireless network adapter stopped working. It was bent because it i accidentally walked right past it when it was plugged into my computer and bent it to the right. I straightened it so it was okay. After a few months, it started bending again so i moved it to the back so that solved my problem. I then had a vacation for 1 month and when i returned my mom had moved everything to my old room. I checked the wireless adapter, it was still fine a bit bent. But now it's all loose, when i was moving back to the other room today it separated. (The metal and the wireless 4 metal part thing). I put it back together like the way it should be but it didn't work. I could go to the rosewill warranty place but i don't want to pay 25$ for it, so is there any way to fix it or do i have to buy a new one?

External Wireless Adapter For Laptop
I have an hp touchsmart laptop (which i've recently learned is infamous for wifi problems) and the wifi constantly turns itself on and off. The wifi light above the keyboard switches from blue when it's on to red when it's off. It never stays on for more than an hour and usually goes back and forth every 2-5 minutes or so. It looks like a christmas light show. It's not my network card that is broken, i guess it's a hardware problem with the switch. If i plug in an ethernet cable everything runs fine!
Anyway, this started (of course) about a week after my warranty expired! Hp is wanting to charge me a little over $100 to fix it. I figured buying an external wireless adapter would be better (and cheaper). Like the netgear usb dongles. But i have just a couple questions about them, probably dumb questions so i apologize. 1. Do they work good? I use my laptop for gaming when i want to lounge on the couch or play at friends houses. If it is going to run slower than my internal adapter, it won't be worth it to me. 2. My current internal network adapter is not n, so if i get an n dongle will it actually run at n speed?

Linksys Wmp54g Wireless Router / Adapter Problem
I have a linksys wrt54g router which is 3 years old and have a linksys wmp54g wireless adapter that i am using to connect to the internet via wireless. I am currently having problems connecting to online games. Thinking that my router was the problem, i attempted to connect to another wireless network and join an online game. I was able to connect, but was having the same problems ( lag spikes and disconnects ) as my wireless network and it has about 40% less signal strength than my wireless signal. But here is the odd part. When i connected to my network again and joined the same game, the lag gets even worse than it was from the weaker signal and i was getting 98% signal strength. And 90% of the time, the game would eventually crash to the desktop when it attempts to connect to a server. Internet browsers are also starting to be affected. Sometimes websites load normally. But from now and then, i would have to refresh the webpage because it is starting to take quite a long time to load a webpage which would of taken me a few seconds to load rather than a minute. There also some delays when webpages are loading and then the webpage would eventually load normally after a abnormal 5-10 second delay. Would this be a sign for me to get a new router and wireless adapter? If so, what do you recommend?

Hp Dv6000 Pavillion Laptop Wireless Network Adapter Issue
I have a hp dv6000 pavillion laptop. It has a built in wireless network card. For some reason, in the past few weeks, the card does not enable itself when i start my computer. The switch on my computer is switched to enabled but the computer acts like nothing is there. I can slide the bar that enables the wireless from disable to enable all i want but nothing happens. But after i restart my laptop a bunch of times, it decides to enable the card randomly. It is so weird. It randomly enables sometimes like it has a mind of its own. I just bought vista for my laptop so i figured i'd install vista and hopefully my problem would go away. Sure enough the problem still happens after a fresh windows install. It is so frusrating. I hate that i have to restart the laptop like 15 times before the wireless card decides to enable itself. You guys have any clue on what's wrong? Is my wireless card messed up? When the card does enable itself though, it works fine so i am thinking that maybe i have a bad driver. I tried rolling back the driver but no success.

Connecting Belkin 54g Router With Tp-link Wn422g Wireless Adapter
Basically, i'm trying to connect to a belkin 54g router with my tp-link wn422g wireless adapter using windows xp. I have the latest drivers (downloaded this morning) for the tp-link. I can see the belkin router but whenever i try to connect it just says "waiting for network) for a couple of minutes and then disappears . I have tries using wep, wpa, wpa2 and finally disabling all security, all to no avail. Mac address filtering is off, dhcp is enabled. I can access the net fine from the machine that's plugged in by ethernet, but the wireless just wont have it on my machine upstairs. Please someone help me before i go totally insane!

Connect A Linksys Adapter To A Netgear Router
How do you connect a linksys adapter to a netgear router ?
Answer:-
You don't. You connect the adapter to your computer. The brands of adapters and routers don't matter as networks are standards based, not proprietary to any particular manufacturer. Edit: once you've installed the adapter just run the wireless management app and select your wireless network. It does not matter what brand the router is.

Scsi To Usb Adapter
A few times now i've been stuck wishing that i had a scsi to usb adapter so i could image or pull data from a scsi drive. Currently, i just throw an old hba in my pc and hook up the drive that way. The drives are always 68 or 80 pin.google brings up a few hits and it looks like these were popular years ago, but even then they were very slow and most of the time only had 50 pin connections on them. They seemed to be often used with the old iomega zip and jazz drives and only supported usb 1. 1. I'd like to add one to my recovery kit if possible, but i can't find much info. Thoughts?

Usb Charger Adapter
While in my local staples, pilfering the clearance bin, i found an interesting cell phone /wire connector set which had an adapter cable that looked like it might just fit in my kindle. After buying it for a rip-off price of 50 cents, it turned out to be a perfect fit, and it doubled as a usb -> mini-usb connector too. Basically it is an: usb -> miniusb + power adapter that fits into kindle power adapter slot. The reason why usb -> power adapter is better then charging from usb -> mini-usb is that you don't have to goto usb drive mode (which prevents you from reading), when connecting with mini-usb connector alone. This means you can keep reading while charging your kindle next to your laptop via usb port!
As a bonus, it seems this wire is both plentiful and cheap on ebay (or if you're too lazy you can find it in most office-supply/ electronics stores)
http://store. Palm.com/sm-belkin-usb-sync-charger-for-tungsten-e-zire-72-pi-2165159.html
But you can buy them on ebay if you search specifically for:
"Palm zire usb cable". Tons to be had for $4-5 dollars shipped. Make sure you get the zire 72 or tungsten type and not the wrong type of palm cable. Note: though i already scored the belkin version of this cable, i managed to find on ebay a better retractable version for $4. 50:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/ebayisapi.dll?Viewitem&rd=1&item=330200416467&sspagename=strk:mewn:it&ih=014
(Note: still waiting for this one to arrive, but it should fit, and i will update thread if it doesn't fit)
With a retractable version, that means i can charge my kindle anywhere i want, bring a spare charge cable in my pocket to plug into usb, and transfer stuff onto kindle if necessary. This is the specific product i bought for 50 cents (if you want to scrounge around your local staples clearance bins).

Usb Adapter For A 1.8 Pata Drive
I have a dell latitude d420 with a corrupted hard drive. I believe it's a 1. 8 pata drive and it has a ribbon cable connector. At this point all i really want to do is get some of the data off of it and then i will format the disk and re-install the operating system. I am looking for a usb device that will allow me to read the disk as an external usb device. I have one for ide and sata drives and it works great but it's not compatible with the dell 1. 8" drive. A tech guy at a local computer store tell me that he does not think one exists. Does anyone know if there is a usb cable adapter that will support this drive?

Laptop Drive To Usb Adapter
I bought a usb adapter that can go from ide/sata and laptop ide to usb. Everything works great. Except when i hook up the laptop ide drive. It can read/write for about 5 minutes (more like 2), then it shuts down. I'm not sure if it is a power saving feature or what, but it is annoying. I have changed the setting in device manager to "allow the os to shut off device to save power" to disabled with no results. Anyone have a similar experience or solution. Yes, i've googled it many times under different queries with no decent results. I don't think buying a new one would help, as it does work, it's just the power to the hdd stops after a few minutes.
