Monitor Light Keeps Flashing

We have purchased a new hp tower today (ex - display), which we have plugged into the monitor, keyboard etc. The monitor light keeps flashing and nothing is coming up on the screen. It works perfectly well if i plug my laptop and old tower into the monitor. There is power going to the tower and it is all plugged in properly. What could the problem be?

Lcd Monitor Flashing

I got this 24" lcd monitor here and have a problem with it. When i got it, i hooked it up and i would get no input on the screen from any source (vga/dvi/component). The "no cable source" thing would come up with a weird flashing behind it (like the backlight flashing). Anyway, i (stupidly) got someone to open the screen up and saw the inverter had two blown caps, so replaced them. Now when they opened the screen up, they forgot to undo a connection and it totally ripped off (see images). As you can see, there are some pins broken completely. I managed to connect it back together, ignoring the four or five snapped pins. So put the screen back together, not expecting much. Plugged it in and guess what, i get a picture! (Probably corrected from fixing the inverter). So i can see and run windows fine from this screen. Yet i still get the constant flashing and there are blotches around the screen with different coloured pixels. I am thinking the blotches are appearing because of the dead pins. Now what gets me is the flashing. Is that a dead backlight or something?

To describe it in more depth: it flashes a few times a second, so its really quick. Its like a halogen dying. When it flashes, it doesnt flash off, but flashes to a low brightness. When i turned the brightness from 100 down to 0, the flashing almost completely stopped (flashed once every minute or so). So what i want to know:

1. Whats causing the flashing?
2. Would the funny blotches on the screen be from the pins?
3. What board is that that has been snapped (highlighted in red). What is it called? How hard are they to find?

I mean the pins dont bother me, as if worst comes to worst i can simply remove the pins completely and solder the wires straight onto the board. Its just, i dont want to do that if the flashing will still be there.

Monitor Green Light Blinking

My computer monitor wont come on and the green light is blinking. I connected it to my laptop and nothing?

Unless your laptop isn't configured to output the video on the vga/dvi ports and if you have already tried the monitor on a known-good (working) desktop computer, then the monitor is probably already busted.

Fix For 5970 Multiple Monitor Flashing

Update: please note that i found that using your stock 3d memory clock speeds is usually required to eliminate the 'flashing. ' my sapphire 5970 has a stock 3d memory clock speed of 1010 mhz, so that is what i'm using here; your card may require different clock speeds for multiple monitor stability. Problem: when using multiple monitors on the radeon 5970 and a 2d desktop environment, one or more monitors exhibit flashing and artifacts, especially when moving windows around. This problem may affect other 5xxx series cards. This specific problem goes away if you run a 3d application in a window. If so, the below fix should solve your issue. 1. Open ccc

2. Unlock and enable overdrive if they arenít already. 3. Go to options/profiles/profiles manager. Create a new profile. Under composition make sure "ati overdrive" is checked. Save and close, do not activate. 4. In windows go to: c:users{yourusername}appdatalocalatiaceprofiles (you will need to have "show hidden files" turned on for this)

5. Open the xml document with the name of the profile you just created (notepad is fine)

6. Change the values of the clock and memory speeds to look like this (these specific values are what worked for me and my card, use judgment) edit only the bold values. Please note that if you have multiple gpus, there will be one entry per gpu that needs to be altered. (Target_1, target_2, and so on. )

Feature name="coreclocktarget_0"

Property name="want_0" value="40000"

Feature name="memoryclocktarget_0"

Property name="want_0" value="101000"

7. Save and close.go back to ccc and activate the profile you just created. *I'm finding that, after a restart, i'm having to switch to a single-display profile, then back to my working multi-display profile. Just a heads up. This will make the card idle at 400core, 1010 memory. (2d clocks are the "want_0" values. ) This solution was originally posted on the amd game forums by user eventhorizon. I found that i had to increase my memory clock to 1010 (1010 mhz) to get the 2d desktop stable, but that 400 mhz core clock was sufficient. Your mileage may vary. You can test if your new 2d clock speeds are activated by opening ccc and going to ati overdrive; it will show you your gpu's current clock speeds. If your desktop still suffers from flashing using multiple monitors try upping the memory speed a bit until it goes away.

Geforce Fx 5700 Ultra Monitor Flashing

I just upgraded my video card to the 5700 ultra and am having some problems. I have updated all of my drivers (agp, chipset, vid card, etc. ), But still have this problem. When i get to my desktop, the "my computer" icon is black and the screen will occasionally flash. I have tried different resolutions and refresh rates, but with no success. When i go into madden 2005, the game starts fine, but once i get a game started, some lines start to appear off of the players . It's very weird. All of this is kind of new to me, so any suggestions would be appreciated. Only other things i can think of is that the card may be bad (though it ran previously in another computer or the power supply isn't sufficient (i believe it's 460w).

Flashing Laptop Monitor When Unplugging Power Cable

I have an acer travelmate 3260. I have only had the computer for about two months so the battery is still relatively new. When i unplug my power cable the monitor flashes (black screen black screen very fast) but when its plugged in its fine. I have tried setting the battery usage to to maximum battery life (i.e. Lcd functions at min) but the same problem occurs, i have also tried leaving it flashing (about 5 minutes) nothing changes. Im pretty sure its a battery problem but hopefully you guys have a solution or some tests i could run to find one.

Flashing Bios

I have a inno3d 680i mobo, im trying to upgrade the bios as i have reason to believe this is going to fix some compatibility issues with some ram. However the built in award flash in my bios does not seem to recognise a cd or usb, bootbale or non, with the new bios on. I dont have a floppy drive. I am using vista x64 which is why i think i cant see nvidia update centre when i run it, instead just the usual nvidia control panel.

Hp Pavillion Dv7 Keys Light Up

Do the keys on an hp pavillion dv7 4065dx light up? It looks like they should. Most laptops ive seen allow the keys to light up especially modern ones. I was wondering if theres like a button i press or some setting i got to to make them light up?

Answer:- try the fn key + spacebar to turn on/off the backlight. You'll notice it when the room has dim lighting, but if the lights are bright you can't tell. They're pretty discrete.

Frozen Bios Flashing

I'm flashing an asus mobo. I was following the steps outlined here. I got to the point where it asked me to type in the name of the update file. Then it asked me whether i want to save bios (don't remember the wording exactly). I was out of patience so selected n. Then it prompted, "y to program, n to exit. " I typed in y. The prompt disappeared. Then it stopped. And that's it. There's no progress bar, it doesn't say "please wait" or anything like that. It seems like it hasn't even started yet, if there's no progress bar? But i can't be sure, i don't remember what it looked like last time i flashed it (successfully). It's been like this for probably 10 minutes now. Is it safe for me to hit the reset button? Seems i don't have any other options.

Hard Drive Light Blinks Every 2-3 Seconds

I was sitting across the room and noticed my hard drive light was blinking every 3 seconds. It's a stedy, every 3 seconds. It doesn't seem to be doing anything major, just lights up. Does it allways mean the drive is being accessed if the light blinks? Why would the drive be doing this?

I usally shut it off if i'm not going to use it, but started to leave it on. I am not usally sitting across the room not useing it, so i don't know if this just started or has been doing it for a long time.

Light Blue Welcome Screen At Startup - Windows Xp

My computer used to take about 2 seconds consistently in the light blue "welcome" screen for the past 2 years or so. Sometimes, it used to take about 6 seconds. And this mainly occured when my internet was down. So i knew that when the "welcome" screen took longer my internet was most likely down. Recently, after a few windows automatic updates, a service pack 3 install or i am not sure if when my dvd burner stalled the "welcome" screen is taking longer than usual, about 6 seconds. However, my internet is working fine. From your experience, what is the typical time it takes for the "welcome" screen to go through?

Does taking longer at the "welcome" screen an indication that there is a conflict or is it just loading information?

Light On Keyboard Turns Off And Everything Stops Working

I took my computer out to clean it and air the dust out of it with an air-can the other day, and i went to plug everything back in and everything is working fine besides the keyboard & mouse, and seemingly everything that uses the usb port. I'd think that the usb ports are fried, but this is the strange part. I am able to use the keyboard to enter the bios screen, and when windows xp is booting up, about mid-way on the boot splash screen, the light on the keyboard turns off and everything stops working. What is causing this? I think i've tried everything, restoring factory defaults on bios, trying completely new mouses and keyboards, etc.

Ps2 Blue Light Led Stays Off

About a week ago, i was playing my ps2 and suddenly the controller led turned off. The controller stopped working but the game continued. I turned off and didn't restart my ps2 until about 3 hours later. As i turned it on i noticed that there wasn't any video in my screen. I looked at the ps2 and noticed that the blue led (eject button)wasn't on, only green. The cd tray wont open. Its weird because if u press the eject button the ps2 will still turn on along with the fan but the blue led stays off and cd wont spin.

Black Screen Cpu Light Orange

Problem: screen goes black. The power light is orange on the monitor. Checking the cpu/tower - the on/off button is orange. Moving the mouse - pressing keys - does nothing. To turn the computer off, i pressed and held the on/off button. On starting the computer back up - everything seemed to be fine. I then started running virus scans (ie: norton, ms antispyware and many others). During one of the scans - while i was away, the computer again "turned off". It happened again when running quickbooks - however, i had just entered data - and turned away - ie - sadly - not watching if anything was happening. Dell support was interesting. While the computer is out of warranty - i was not expecting the following: the dell rep hung up on me! I guess it was because i questioned removing the coin-battery as a solution. Was ok with "reseating" the hard drive cables - but why the battery?

Sadly, i've been at this computer for 30 minutes now, and it has not turned off. (Sadly?)

If you have any ideas, let me know. Oh yes: i tried different power cords, plugged into a different ups plug.
