Router Disconnect When Get Phone Call
Replies: 1 | Post Date: 1 month ago | User: John Attaqboy | Forums: answers.yahoo.comWhy does my router disconnect when i get a phone call? I recently purchased a new cable modem and netgear router. Before this i had a different cable modem and a different netgear router. With the old ones, the phone could ring and the internet would be fine. Now, whenever the phone rings, the connection dies. I dont think it is the wireless signal being interfered with because i lose get disconnected even if i do not answer the phone. We have a coax splitter that splits the cable like and then one goes to a modem for the phone and the other goes to the new modem for the internet, which is then connected to the router. Why i am having this issue?

Windows 7 Phone Call Scam
I am pretty much the computer tech of my family, but this one kind of hit me by surprise. My girlfriends mom got a new laptop. I put windows 7 on it for her. It has the most up to date norton possible (i checked the updates. ) She gets a phone call a few months after i put it on from a guy who claims he is from "windows 7. " First of all, i know microsoft does not make house calls. Ever. My question is how did these people get her phone number. I try to keep my family pretty up to par with how to stay out of trouble on the internet, so i don't think she has a virus because i didn't notice anything out of the ordinary and norton has not found anything. Any other ideas? The guy kept calling back from different phone numbers and pretty much harassing her. She had to change her phone number because they could not track it. Ideas of how i can make sure this does not happen again please?

Internet Disconnects Suddenly And During A Phone Call
My internet always disconnects suddenly and during a phone call. Have 2wire modem from at&t? Everday, my modem suddenly disconnects from the internet and i'd have to wait a few minutes for it to connect again. Sometimes, it would suddenly shut off and turn back on, which i'd have to wait even longer for it to connect back to the internet again. Also, when i use the phone, the modem disconnects and has to reconnect to the internet. Same thing happens when i end a phone call. This is really annoying especially when i'm downloading something or watching videos on the internet. What's wrong with the modem? Could the problem be with the phone line? Maybe the phone line is old? It's been doing this ever since i got it, which was probably 2 years ago.

Internet Connection Disconnect When Phone Rings
Why does my broadband internet connection disconnect from the internet each time my phone rings? My dsl internet disconnects every time i receive a call and reconnects shortly after the call is finished. I read that i should try adjusting the ghz on my router or try changing the channel to 1, 6, or 11. Where can i do this at. And will changing these settings affect the router's performance when it is connected and working. Also i have checked that all my phones in my house have a filter.

Router Constantly Disconnect - Light Turn Red
Why does my router constantly disconnect at night? I have a 2wire router and my internet provider is at&t. It rarely happens during the day, but at night the light marked internet would turn red, knocking me of the internet. It flashes red for a minute then the light goes off, only to return green moments later. It'll keep turning off and on all night, and it gets really frustrating.

Using Google Talk To Call
How to use google talk to call someone? Answer:- if you sign up for google voice and everything is good go to your gmail look at your left hand there will be a tab under the chat tab on your left hand press on it and call any phone. If you are calling someone in usa or canada it's free if not you need to check this out
https://www.google.com/voice/rates
If you want to call pc to pc then the other person who you will be talking to need to have gtalk and need to add you as a contact and if that happen then you just have to open gtalk press on his name and click call. Pc to pc is always free no matter where you live
Pc to phone is not always free
If you have a cellphone you can download gtalk
http://www.Gotalkmobile.com/
And call any pc anywhere and it's free just like pc to pc but you need to pay the basic fee for getting internet connection on your mobile and i don't know how much it costs in your country.

Echoing / Loud Noise On Skype Call
Ok guys i been pulling my hair out on trying to fix this for the longest time, i've tried everything to messing with my audio settings and my friends settings. To getting different mics / using a different call program. The problem is i'll hear my self echo with a loud strange noise at random times (usually within 2-5mins it will start happening) if i tap on my mic about 6-7 times it will make it go away only to repeat 5 mins later. For the first few minutes the call is perfect no echos no noises or anything. I use headphones to hear audio and use a mic to talk that's plugged into my laptop. My friend uses a headset and is also using a laptop. I wouldn't think the problem would be coming from my friend because he doesn't have the same problem as me.

Better Sniper - Call Of Duty Modern Warfare 2
Call of duty modern warfare 2: what is a better sniper, barret. 50 cal, or the intervention? Both the barrett . 50cal and intervention have exactly the same damage and damage multipliers. All snipers do 70 damage, but the perks and damage multipliers change this. Stopping power brings the damage up 40% (which is 70->98 damage). Damage multipliers multiply the bullet damage by a certain number judging by where the bullet hit. Both the intervention and barrett have multipliers as follows: head-1. 5, neck-1. 5, chest-1. 5, stomach-1. 1, and limbs-1. 0. This means that they are one-hit-kills to anywhere but the limbs. Now, to compare the two. The barrett . 50cal is, theoretically, better because: 1) it has a larger clip size, 2) it is semi-automatic, 3) the recoil is always to the same place and it resets quicker than the intervention's recoil, 4) it scopes in faster, and 5) it has less scope sway. I would say that the barrett is better, although the intervention has more of a "pro" look to it because it takes more skill to achieve the same result.

Constant Internet Disconnect
Well, lately i've noticed some dc's at first i was just playing world of warcraft, and i got a dc (which seriously hardly ever happens to me. It would be that someone pulled the plug of the router out or something). So i thought, meh could be something else. But past 4 days i've noticed constant dc's in 2 games that i play: wow and battlefield: bad company 2. So i contacted my provider and they couldn't really help me. They just told me basic amateur stuff such as: pull the plug out and back in. But, my sister downloads from limewire, she has for a long time, i always told her not to. But still she does. So i was thinking, maybe someone hacked our network because of limewire. Well, i was also playing battlefield today, for a few hours and the dc's usually happen every 25-50 minutes. So as soon as my sister came back home from work, she came home and rest, and just not too long after that, boom! Another dc while i didn't have any before she came home. Thing is, she also owns a blackberry, which i doubt it could be cos i don't think u can download things with malware from that thing. But maybe it could still be so. And i just went to my router-webpage and went to the lan- section. And i noticed all the way down of the page it has a little section with: 'dynamic dhcp client list', under that i get 'hardware address assigned ip hostname ' and i have one with the ip addres and all the stuff that is supposed to go along with it (afraid to tell you guys what it is though). And it says hostname computer. So i think that's just my computer or something, but under that i see another ip address and the whole line thing and the hostname is: your-0ifga41fpw , could that be something bad? Because i don't know if it belongs to me or whatever it is. I also resetted my modem + router. Didn't work. I also wanted to block limewire through my router-webpage but i don't know how to, could you please explain it to me! And oh yes! When i get disconnected its not like i have to wait a while for my internet to get back up again, it's just an instant dc but i can log back in directly after that. So all in all, my problem is: lately i've been getting constant dc's which are extremely rare for me to get. And i'm not sure but i think it could be my sisters limewire.

Internet Connect Then Disconnect
When i try to connect to the internet it connect then disconnect then reconnect and so on. Can anybody tell how to resolve this?
Answer:- i am assuming that you are using wifi and a router. This might be interference from a cordless phone or a neighbor who has a router using the same wifi channel. There are 11 channels to choose from in the router. Go in there and change the channel. Your user guide for your make and model will have the instructions for this. If you don't have a user guide download it from the maker's website. I you are not using wifi, then i must say the problem is either with your modem or the internet provider is having trouble. In both cases you need to talk with the provider.

Modem Disconnect Periodically
Why does my modem disconnect periodically? I am using a motorola modem and a belkin router. For as long as i remember, it has worked perfectly fine except for the fact that about every hour or two, the internet connection just cuts off somehow, and after about two minutes it will work just fine again. After the disconnection it will continue to run normally, until another hour or two later, when it will again disconnect and reconnect.

Safely Disconnect Hardware
For every hardware i connect to the usb port of the computer, i always make sure to safely disconnect it first before i unplug it from the computer. I make sure to wait till the icon disappears from the computer before i disconnect. However, even when i do disconnect from the computer, the screen of the hardware itself (my psp, mp3 players, pmp, etc) continues saying usb connected, even when i have safely disconnected it (note: it is still plugged into the computer but technically disconnected. Hope you get what i mean. ) The only thing that doesn't do this is my ipod nano 3rd gen, which i always use the itunes program itself to disconnect, and the little loading bar appears telling me when it is safe for me to physically disconnect it. Can anyone tell me the reason as to why the message never shows up on my hardwares? This hasn't really been a problem for me, but i always wondered why.

Cannot Use Safely Remove Hardware To Disconnect External Hdd
When disconnecting usb flash drives, i for one never use the safely remove hardware button, and never had any problems as a result of this habit, probably because i always leave write caching disabled, as it is by default - according to the windows help, this means you can disconnect a drive without going through safely remove hardware. Now, i have recently bought an external hard-drive (a samsung story station), which i use on and off, several times per day. Since an electro-mechanical hard-drive is surely more fragile than a solid-state usb flash drive, and also because this hdd cost me quite a lot, i though it wouldn't hurt to develop the good practice of always using safely remove hardware before turning its power off. The problem is, most of the time this process is not straightforward, and produces the error message "the device 'generic volume' cannot be stopped because a program is still accessing it". This happens at a time when the hdd is (at least to my knowledge) no longer in use, i.e. I've copied a few files to/from it, and the transfer has stopped for a few good minutes before i press the safely remove hardware button. I know there may be many reasons why windows sees the hard-drive as still being in use, but my question to all you hardware-aware techniques is: how harmful is it for the hard-drive if i just turn the power off after i've finished using it (no ongoing transfers, of course) without using safely remove hardware? Again, this would be at a time when windows is under the impression that the hdd is still being used, even though - mind you - the hdd's led is not blinking, indicating that there is in fact no activity. Thanks in advance for any replies!

Thanks in advance for any replies!

Can Xbox 360 Connected To Router Interfere With Other Router Connection
Can an xbox360 connected to a router interfere with another person's router connection? The netgear router is in my room and my xbox360 is connected to it with a wired ethernet connection. My father is convinced that the xbox360 is the reason that he frequently doesn't have a connection, or it's very slow, and has to unplug the router for 60 seconds. I don't think that makes sense, especially since he'll have problems when i haven't even used the system all day. Also, his connection has gotten worse since he traded in our linksys router for this netgear. Can my xbox360 be interfering with his router connection, or is it the router?

Adsl Modem / Router With Wireless Netgear Router
I have a problem and do not know where else to go. I currently have an adsl+2 modem/router and recently bought a netgear wireless rangemax 240 router for wireless capabilities. I cannot get the two to work together. It doesn't help that im very in-experienced with networking either. My connection is pppoe and i need a sign in. Is there a way to bridge the 2 routers together?
I plug my netgear into the modem and it receives no internet signal. Ive tried numerous ways of doing it. Nothing works. I don't know if im suppose to use port forwarding or what. Any information would help and please, if you could. Bust it down 2 y/o style so i understand

I know i need to run a ethernet cable from one of the unused lan connections on the wireless router in my basement up to the livingroom but not sure what i need after that, a hub, wired router or something else?

Connecting Wireless Router To Regular Router
Can i connect a wireless router to a regular router? Ill be getting a psp for the bday and my school issue laptop tomorrow. Both of which ill need a wireless connection if im gonna get online, however, my own and my moms desktops do not have wireless capability and are hooked to our cable modem with a regular 5 port netgear router. Im thinking about buying a wireless router, but i cant unplug the other router to hook the wireless to the modem. I dont know much about wireless - can i just take the lan between the wired router and a wireless one? Would that work? Am i even making sense, ahaha?

If Disconnect Laptop Screen, Will External Screen Still Work ?
If i disconnect my laptop's screen, will an external screen still work? I have an acer aspire5315 laptop. What i am doing is i am putting it into a custom case that will not fit the built-on screen. The laptop does have a vga output (so i can connect it to another monitor, or hdtv. ) So, if i disconnect the laptop screen completely from the motherboard, will an external one connected via vga still work?
