Toshiba Laptop Sd Multi Reader Card

I've accidentally deleted photos on my sony cyber-shot camera and purchased a $20 optex: digital memory card reader from walmart to retrieve my photos from my 2. 0 gb sd card. I'm not sure if i inserted my sd card correctly or if it even properly fits. When i do insert the usb into my laptop the "removable disk (:f)" drive appears, however it keeps asking me to insert a disk in(which i though i did). Can someone please help me figure out how to use my optex sd reader in order to retrieve my pictures back.

Card Reader / Multi Panel
I was wonder what the best multi panel / card reader is for about $50, i already have a large vantec for my fan controller. In fact my full tower is full but i think i can remove on of my cd-roms. 3 is a bit excessive anyways. Or i can remove the 5. 25 inch panel that i mounted a switch to to controll my blacklights. And mount it elsewhere. I want one with usb 2. 0 ports, and reads cd and memory stick. I have an eclipse hu (cd-player in my truck) that takes memory stick and can rip cd's to mp3 so i would like to have a way to easily transfer music from the cd player to pc or visa versa. I been looking at svc and newegg but need some feedback as to what to look for or stay away from.

Just kind of curious to know who makes a good performing usb2. 0 or firewire multi-format card reader. Like an 8-in-1 reader that can read sd, xd, ms, cf. Etc. Theres a ton of them out there, and the one i currently have is an old sandisk usb1. 1 cf reader. I've since went to sd not long ago, and i want something that has some quick read/write times and can read multiple formats. I will mostly be using cf and sd, as that is what my canon eos digital rebel and magellan meridian use. Anyone out there know of any good make/models? If internal, looking for 3. 5" version that will fit in floppy drive bay and uses internal headers to connect to the pc, or if external (preferred). Nothing too bulky as it will probably get mounted on the side or the bottom of a shelf on my desk. So far i've kinda been looking at sandisk's 8-in-1 reader, but i don't really like how it stands vertically on the desk. Fanless Pci E X1 Video Card For Multi Monitor Support
I'm looking for a fan less pci-e x1 video card (not x16!). This is to add additional monitors to a daw; it must be pci-e x1. Fan-less is ideal, but if you have personal experience using other quiet pci-e x1 cards, i am open to suggestions! I'd prefer to stay away from the cad/workstation type cards.

Usb Card Reader Installing Problems
I am having problems installing a new usb card reader. I currently have an 8 in 1 card reader installed and connected to one of my usb 2 ports. Purchase of a new camera with a different type of memory card meant my current reader was no longer suitable. Therefore i got a 23 in 1 card reader to cover all possible options. I thought installing the new reader would be just a matter on unplugging the old reader and plugging the new one in. However although windows xp detects the new device it gets so far and then say "problem installing device it may not work properly". When you you go into control panel there is an ! Against usb mass storage device and its says "device not working properly (code 10)". If i plug the old reader back in it works fine. Do you think there is a problem with the new card reader or just a problem with the way i am installing the new reader. For example should i uninstall the old reader, then shut down xp before installing the new reader? Would this make a difference? Or is there a different fail proof installation procedure i could try? There are no other spare usb ports for me to try using instead, system windows xp sp2, pentium iii 800.

Installing Usb Drivers For Xd / Sm Card Reader On Win 98
I recently bought an xd / sm card reader from sandisk (sddr-95). Can't get the usb driver that comes with it to install. Apparently, it doesn't work well with windows 98, which is the os i run on my pc. According to their web site, there are some patches that could make it work for win 98, but i haven't been able to get them to work. Win 98se seems to be the lowest version that is fully supported. Does anyone have any experience installing usb drivers/patches for win 98? Are there any inexpensive card readers that would work with 98, or would i have to upgrade to 98se or me?

Usb Card Reader Problem With Data Upload / Download
I love using sd cards, mainly because of my pda and camera. After switching from a via mobo with a sempron 2300+ to an intel board with a (used) p4 2. 8 ht northwood quite a while ago, my card reader started distorting any kind of data uploaded from/downloaded to the cards i'm using. I've tried different cards, different card readers (they worked fine with other computer, an emachines), different os's (two versions of windows, and linux, the knoppix distro), different ram (switched from rosewill to kingston), different video cards, and now, a new mobo (with same southbridge chip but different nb chip). The last thing i can think of is the proc, and the computer does everything else fine, really, no glitches in gaming, video/audio encoding/playback, etc. I'm just boggled, i've been trying to figure this out for a year now, and haven't thought of posting here for advice. I recently bought a celeron oem off of newegg with which to build another extra pc with the old mobo, to see if it was indeed the cpu. Any ideas?

Just started playing with a new medion 8825 multimedia computer. While trying to install an external hard drive, i somehow lost the card reader drives. These were listed in my computer as drives e, f and g for the three slots of the reader. Now they are gone. In my ignorance, i was attempting to use the safely remove feature of vista. At one time, there was a small flag that said "safely remove mass storage(the external drive i was working on) and drive e, f and g. I clicked on this flag, and the e, f, and g drives disappeared from my computer. How do i recover them? Is it a problem of installing new drivers? Is tis a software or hardware problem?

I can't figure out why when i plug in a usb 2. 0 card reader, no matter what, it is recognized as usb 1. 1. This happens with my card reader which i just bought, but i figured it was just because it was a cheap card reader. Well i tried using my dad's which he has no problems running at usb 2. 0 and it is still recognized as 1. 1 on my laptop. All other devices that i hook up to the laptop run at usb 2. 0 just fine-even if i hook my d70 directly to the pc via usb it is 2. 0. My only guess as to why this will not work is because i am running vista x64. (Dell does not offer 64 bit oss, so i had purchased 64 bit separately and installed that myself).

1. Remove the battery from the laptop (unplug it from the ac prior to removing it)
2. Plug the ac back in (leaving the battery out)
3. Gently move the connector from the ac adapter that is in the laptop gently from side to side, and then in circles. Very gently and watch your lights on your laptop; see if they blink or show any sign of life. 1. Remove the battery from the laptop (unplug it from the ac prior to removing it)

I'm in the market for a laptop (my first) to last me at least 5 years with no problems or need for repair. I'm interested in purchasing either a dell, toshiba, or an hp (originally i wanted a macbook, but i've heard that that's not the best choice for a biology major-the compatible software is not as good?), But i don't know which one is best. I'm willing to pay up to $1200 as long as it has the following specifications:
-Built-in webcam
-Long-lasting battery (at least 5 hours)
-Best processor (fast with good performance)
-4gb memory
-At least 16" screen
-It must be quiet
-Must last me at least 5 years
-Dvd/cd drive (no blu-ray necessary)

Toshiba Portege M200 Graphics Card Memory
I will be buying a toshiba portege m200 as it is required for my school. I was wondering if anyone could explain to me how much memory it has for the graphics card. On the website it says:
Nvidia geforce go 5200 32m 4x agp (32mb ddr discrete graphics memory)
Does that mean that i have only 32mb of memory for my graphics card? If so that really sucks! I hope i am just misinterpreting something. I hope that the "4x" or "ddr" in the description means something or i'm really going to be screwed.

Toshiba Laptop Keys Not Working
A few of my keys have stopped working on the keyboard of my toshiba laptop after a dreaded water spill. When i spilled the water the laptop was off, and i immediately turned the laptop over and left it to dry. When i turned it back on, initially the a key didn't work and probably a lot of others but the a was the only key i noticed as my password has an a in it. A few days later when i turned it on the a key must have dried out more and it had started to work, allowing me to log on. However, it has been 5 days since i spilled the (small amount of) water on the keyboard and these keys do not work [q, x, win, fn, ctrl]
The x key works if i hold the key down for a long while, but the others do not seem to do this. Obviously the kb is not trashed as it still works for most keys and the a key started working again. Does anyone have any advice on how i can take apart and clean or make sure it is dry? Or what has caused the keys to not work after they are dry, i have taken a few caps off and the toshiba laptop looks pretty water proof (lots of rubber caps, and nothing looking rustable/corrosive-able) i could post pictures if needed or has anyone had experience with tosh keyboards who could help me. Replacing is a last resort as i priced up a new keyboard online at £50~. That doesn't seem worth it .

A few of my keys have stopped working on the keyboard of my toshiba laptop after a dreaded water spill. When i spilled the water the laptop was off, and i immediately turned the laptop over and left it to dry. When i turned it back on, initially the a key didn't work and probably a lot of others but the a was the only key i noticed as my password has an a in it. A few days later when i turned it on the a key must have dried out more and it had started to work, allowing me to log on. However, it has been 5 days since i spilled the (small amount of) water on the keyboard and these keys do not work [q, x, win, fn, ctrl]

Toshiba Laptop M100 Problem
Toshiba laptop m100. I've opened a dos box while surfing the net etc. The dos box will show blank letters (in other words, if i typed >mememe at the dos prompt, spaces would quickly fill up over loading the buffer. Tried moving the ram from one slot to the other. Before, it wasn't spaces, it was l's and 3's (maybe more)
So, you see, moving the ram over "helped" but did not resolve the problem. Ps: i have checked for all manners of spyware etc. And the behavior continues. Yes, i do not mind wiping the laptop clean. But is it a software issue? It looks like a hardware issue. Pss: to change the ram from one slot to the other, i had to remove the keyboard and then replace it. I could not find any water or coca cola damage to the keyboard. Anything else worth trying?

Sound on toshiba laptop is not working, my mom was trying to mute the sound on the laptop but instead made the laptop have no sound at all. I went to the sound options but it just said that there was no audio output device installed.

My toshiba laptop mouse not move how can i solve it?
Answer:- hold down the fn key then press the f9 to turn on the glide pad (mouse) if you have an external mouse plugged in then unplug it and check to see if f9 is active.

Toshiba Laptop Not Go Past Welcome Screen
I was restarting my computer after an update for my itunes and i think that one of my family members accidentally turned it off (which might have caused the problem). Also, in safe mode, it says that windows installer is supposedly not properly installed. And when it does go past the welcome screen after i do a system restore, it is enormously slow.

Toshiba Laptop Battery Not Charging
Toshiba laptop battery not charging, but says its is and battery light is on? I have a toshiba satellite laptop a100 series. When plugged in with adaptor, laptop works fine. The battery light is on at the front (which i think means its charging it)
In the icons in the corner, when i hover over the battery indicator it says 1% available (plugged in, charging) but it never gets over 1%, and when i pull the charger out it instantly fails, so basically it's not charging at all, but its telling me it should be. Do all toshiba a500 laptops have a webcam? I bought a toshiba a500 laptop yesterday at office works, and the one on display did have a webcam, but when i opened the box when i got him i was surprised to see there was no webcam, and it was funny cause the protective plastic that you take off when new was shaped to be covering a webcam, and yeah i don't know whether i got ripped off, or that this type of a500 doesn't have a webcam.
