Unable To Load Windows, Partial New Install

During bootup, case lights come on, including blue cathodes, fans, etc, i get no beep codes, the screen initially flashes the indentity of the vid card installed, then goes to intell splash page, then to the unable to load windows screen with many options such as boot in normal mode, safe mode, etc.computer specifications:

Mobo - intel 865perl (new)
Cpu - intel p4 2. 4c boxed (new)
Memory- corsair 3200 ddr 1024mb twinx dual channel (new) (1 stick each installed in channel a raid 0, channel b raid 0). Video - gainward geforce fx5600 128mb ddr, ultra 760 tv/dvi. (New). Hard drive - wd 40gb
Power supply - icute 430watt (new). Only things on mobo right now are cpu, mem, video card. Board has current bios (verified on intel site). In bios, verified cpu, memory, etc. I've had problems with "no signal" on other builds, but those were memory problems. The twin corsair sticks are installed properly, 1 in channel a raid0 and the other in channel b raid0. The bios recognizes them (1024mb) as well. Any ideas on why i can't get the os to load?

Laptop Won't Load Windows Xp

Yesterday i dropped my laptop (ah!) On a hardwood floor. I have a toshiba satellite m100/m105. As soon as it dropped the screen went black and basically the power to it went out. This worried me, but then i just pressed the power button on the computer and it restarted and seemed to work fine! Until i restarted my computer again today because the internet was locked up. Anyway, so i restarted and a black screen came up that said windows was unable to load correctly and to run windows as normal, run in safe mode, run how it was run last time it run correctly, etc. And i chose each of these options at least once and each time it brought me back to the same black screen. I'm not sure if it is a software or hardware issue or if it even has anything to do with me dropping my laptop yesterday. Does any one know what i should do? Should i check to see if it's hardware related before i run a system repair? Should i bring it in to a professional and have them look to see if it's a hardware problem or is there a way i could check for "lose connections"?

Computer Is Shutting Off During The Windows Load Screen

So i ended up upgrading to an amd x2 6000 and getting an hd4850 as well. Windows 7 was also installed by a friend on my computer. However, my computer is shutting off during the windows load screen at the same time, like right after the windows colors icon forms together and glows or whatever. I have an antec 650w truepower power supply that is maybe 3 years old at the most. Also, i have been monitoring the watts and they are all stable and all less than . 20 different than the norm or whatever each thing is supposed to be.could the ram i bought be bad and is shutting down the computer? Temperatures are all fine as well. I just find it weird that it turns off during the exact same time but will sometimes randomly let me get to windows if i keep trying. A fast response would be appreciated, especially if it is possibly bad ram since i think the last day to exchange it at frys is today for me.

Windows Randomly Lock Up, Act As If Cpu Is Under 100% Load

I'll spare you the details, but my machine has become unstable recently. I was overclocking recently but one of these issues persisted before the oc. Since it's got weird my pc has gone back to stock settings which haven't fixed anything. Windows will randomly lock up, and act as if the cpu is under 100% load. It isn't. The pc will now poweroff after shutdown. The monitor switches off but the power/fan run to the cpu. When trying to image my c: drive to a backup it will always fail. I got a bsod last night trying this. I've ran chkdsk a few times and everytime it has found and "repaired" bad sectors. I booted into ms memory ram checker, no errors, the comp can still play games fine when i first boot up, it's afterwards thing get flaky, my os hard drive is pretty old, which is why i targeted that first. I've seen some abnormal temps coming from there in the past. How do i test psu to elimate that from the equation?

Video Card Beep Error - Windows Fails To Load

Last night my comp was making a loud beeping noise and it turned out to be my video card. So i boot it up, get all the screens and it eventually hits the windows screen with the options of safe mode, last known configuration that worked, and run windows normally. The problem is no matter which one i pick (done them all several times) it always does the same thing. The window logo screen loads where the little blue bar travels across below the logo usually meaning windows is starting up, but everytime it has that screen for about 15 seconds then a quick flash of the blue screen of death and my computer resets and does the whole process again?

Computer Freezes On Boot - Long Time To Load Windows

I was having issues with a game of mine hard locking my pc. The only way to get out of it was to hold down the power button and force the pc to power down, then boot back up. Trying to trouble shoot the game, this happened several times. Then, it started freezing on the memory test. It's not really freezing, though - if i leave it sit for a very long time ( 5 to ten minutes ), it will eventually boot into windows. Any ideas?

Partial Hard Drive Cloning

I bought one of those 30gb cheapo ocz ssds, which i've calculated out to fit all my program files and windows xp onto with space to spare. My issue is, my current os drive is a 250gb hard disk that has 10gb of free space. Basically i want to clone windows/program files/documents and settings from my 250gb to my new 30gb without copying any of the media files/games i also have on the 250gb. I don't want to lose how my windows xp is set up or the functionality of my programs. Is this possible? Will i have to clear up space on my 750gb and copy over all the media files i want to save and clear the 250gb to below 30gb to clone? I really don't want to do that cause it'll be a much bigger hassle. I want to keep my 250gb as an unconnected backup of my os and some media after i get the 30gb running windows xp.system:-

E6400
Gigabyte p965
600w ocz psu
4gb ram
3850
250gb c drive (10gb free)
200gb truecrypted drive (30gb free)
750gb media drive (20gb free)

Cannot Install Windows In New Hdd

I just got myself a segate baracuda hdd (pata), plugged it as primary master, set the jumper accordingly, restarted the computer, got into bios, and the primary master is shown as the segate baracuda hdd just as it should. The secondary master and slave are my two dvd burner drives and these are shown in bios as well. Next, i attempted installing windows xp on the new hdd, on the 'select partition to install screen', it says 'setup could not access this drive'. Next, i tried 'diskpart' from the recovery console, says 'could not access'. Next, i tried my old windows 98 cd, booted to dos, and tried a:>fdisk. Says: warning: could not access disk 1. Tried setting the new hdd as a secondary slave, the secondary master being one of the dvd writers (unplugged the second dvd writer), set the jumpers accordingly. Again, the hdd is shown as the secondary slave in bios as it should, and again, windows could not be installed. Tried all the available modes in bios (lba, chs, large, auto), but the exact same thing happens, no matter what i do. Is the new hdd dead? I even tried a new data cable, same results.

How To Install Windows On A Mac?

The following instructions are for intel-based macs, only. Windows will not run on the older processors without expensive and poorly performing software. One feature of the current mac os x software is an applet called boot camp that allows you to install and switch back and forth (on restart) between the apple and microsoft operating systems. Section i
-
1. Power up the mac under the os x leopard 10. 4. 6 (or higher) operating system. 2. Before installing the new operating system, back up any files and applications installed under os x. 3. Log in to an administrator account on your computer (if one is set, otherwise continue). 4. Make sure no applications are running. 5. Open a new finder window and access your applications folder. 6. Find the utilities folder within applications and locate boot camp assistant. 7. Double-click the application to run. 8. When the application window (aka wizard, to microsoft fans) opens, first click the print button to retrieve a hard copy of the instructions, then click the "continue" button. This will take you to the next screen. 9. The following screen will read: "select what you want to do and click continue. "

10. If you haven't already created a windows partition, select the "create or remove a windows partition" button. 11. Click continue

12. Boot camp assistant will help you create a new partition for windows on your internal hard disk (if you have multiple internal hard disks, you can use any). It is extremely important to create a new partition, or you may wipe out your mac operating system. 13. When you create the windows partition, you'll have the option of choosing to set aside 32 gb, divide the disk space equally, or set a custom size. The windows partition must be at least 5gb to accommodate the new operating system. You should also leave at least 5 gb of free space on each partition.consider which operating system will get more use, and which partition will store more files and applications, then set your size accordingly. 14. When you're satisfied with your choice, click partition. 15. Following the screen prompts, place your windows installation disk in the dvd drive. You must use a single full-installation disk (not an upgrade) of windows xp service pack 2 or a more recent version such as windows vista home basic, home premium, business, ultimate, or the current incarnation of same. Do not attempt to install an earlier version of windows. Section 2
-

1. At this point, you will select and run the windows installation wizard, following instructions as you would if installing on a standard pc. 2. Install the boot camp drivers on your windows volume by inserting the os x disk one dvd. 3. If autorun opens, quit the program. 4. Using windows explorer, locate and select the driver you want to install. 5. Open the driver to start installation. Note: you will not be able to use the eject key on your keyboard while the welcome screen is displayed (you must be set up and running a user account for this key to work). In order to eject a disk, use windows explorer to select the disk, and click the explorer eject icon. Section 3
-

1. If you want your computer to restart automatically after a power failure, click the boot camp system tray item and choose the boot camp control panel. 2. Click the power tab. 3. Select "restart automatically after a power failure. "

Windows should now be installed in its own partition on your internal hard drive. Section 4
-

To select which start-up disk you want to use for a particular session:

1. Restart your computer while holding down the "option" key. 2. When the labeled disk icons appear on your screen, release the option key. 3. Use the mouse to select os x or windows. 4. Click the arrow under the icon. 5. Your computer will now start under your selected operating system. Note: you can only use one partition at a time. Although the dormant partition icon will be visible on your desktop, you will not have access to any files or applications under that os. If you need to transfer a file between operating systems, you'll have to email it to yourself from the appropriate operating system, burn the file to cd or dvd, or transfer across a network, using a second computer as an intermediary (and yes, macs and pcs can talk to each other across a network). Section 5
-

1. To set the default operating system in windows, click the boot camp system tray item and choose the control panel. 2. Select the disk with the operating system you want to use by default. 3. Restart your computer. Once the default os is set, your computer will automatically boot under the selected partition. If you want to use the other operating system for a session, restart while holding down the option key, select the non-default disk, and click the arrow. You will not need to reset your default on restart unless you deliberately want to change it.

If I Install Windows 7 What Will I Lose?

If i install new operating system will i lose my programs like flash, itunes etc. And so as my musics, images and what ever is in my doc? I also want to reformat my computer, if i install a new operating system will it be considered as reformatting so i don't have to pay for the labor of the person who will do the job?

I don't really know what is reformatting, all i know is that it will make your computer run faster and it will make brand new in the inside of your computer. I won't be the one to install it because i don't have any experience of installing new os and i watched a vid that i have to get all the necessary programs to make my computer work like before that is why im letting best buy to do the job. I'm asking this because next week was the set date for me to give them my comp and i haven't back up any of my files yet. If you have more information you wanna share pls tell.

Windows Will Not Install - Drive Damaged

While trying to do a full format and reinstall of windows (something i try to do once every 6 months or so). I ran into a pretty serious glitch, the windows setup screen loads up giving me various options to format, install etc, strangely when i first tried it, it told me that the drive was unformatted or damaged, so i formatted before installing initial files, the setup then restarts in order to continue. However once restarted it goes straight back to the initial setup screen where i can reformat or overwrite existing windows installation?. (Every now and again it still claimed that the drive was damaged and needed to be formatted) i wondered if this was the drive (sata) so i tried installing on my backup drive. Still no luck. I also wondered if there was a problem with my windows disk, so tried installing a version of linux which hung pretty early in the process. I have a few more ideas to test when i get a chance, hopefully tonight. Such as making backup the master and removing sata before installing, and replacing dvd drive with old standby. However i did want to check with you guys opinions regarding faulty ram/cache which i dont really know how to check (other than replacing with spares (which i dont have).

Computer Is Failing To Install Windows Xp

Background: i was playing l4d for a few hours last night, hosting a local server (me and one other person), it ctd'd once on us, so i restarted l4d, it went for another ~20-30 minutes, and then ctd'd again, it wasn't due to us playing with console or overloading the software. So i figure, ok, computer's been on for 5-6 days, lets reboot it, and see if things improve (normally they do), so i restart it, and the kb doesn't work (as in, it doesn't matter what you do, what you sacrifice to god, how many times you restart, how many times you clear cmos, kb will not work, yes i tried other kbs, no none of them worked either (and ps/2 is not an option before someone suggests that (as the main-board can't)). So after screwing around with a windows (windows xp for reference) recovery console/repair install, i finally decide to just nuke everything, so i get both disks to "unpartitioned", create a "raw" partition, format it to ntfs, everything goes good. And then bsod with "irql_not_less_or_equal"

Some googling finds that this happens with overheating, i promptly clean the inside of my pc and make sure temps are good. Irql_not_less_or_equal

Clear cmos and reset bios settings

Irql_not_less_or_equal

Its always at the exact same point, during the "installing windows" phase when it runs the progress bar for "devices installing" or whatever, always at the same point, just keeps bsod repeatedly . I have not changed hardware on this system since building it. It has never bsod in the some 11 months of nearly consistent 24/7 operation. It will sit stable in bios, or any boot-able environment (dos, win receovery console, system works' boot-able environment, win installer, etc) with no issues. It doesn't reboot loop (and never has). So before it gets to have a nice 'n' personal with an axe () does anyone have any advice?

Windows Xp Install Shuts Down Computer

I just bought a cheap 2500+ barton to mess with since i had the extra parts lying around. So i put everything together and it boots fine and all but whenever i try to install windows xp my whole system just turns off like u pulled the plug. Also you can't even power it back up without switching the psu off and back on. Now the weird thing is that it shuts off at the same point in the windows xp installation every time. It does so when its done loading all the misc drivers for raid, usb keyboards, etc. It says "setting up windows" and then goes kaput. Basically i never even get this far. So far i've tried different: hdd, psu, cdrom

Also the problem isn't overheating temps are fine and the fact that it shuts down at the same point rules that out. Any ideas what this might be?

Btw i have no clue whether this might affect it but i don't have a case and i'm manually starting the machine by connecting the jumpers on the board.

Install Windows Programs In Linux

How do you install windows programs in linux?

Answer:- to install a windows program, you will need to have wine installed. You can install this through synaptic, or through the command line with the command:-

Sudo apt-get install wine

After wine is installed, you can run the installer by either right-click the program and selecting "open with", and choosing wine, or from the command line with the command:-

Wine setup.exe

The setup program should launch and run; just follow the instructions as you would in windows. To run the actual program, either find the program in your applications menu (probably under either "wine" or "lost and found"), or navigate to the program's installation directory inside your home directory (ex. /Home/user/. Wine/drive_c/program files/winrar ) and launch it with the command:-

Wine program.exe

There is a program you can download on linux called "wine" that program allows you to choose programs on windows which can be compatible with linux

Install Windows On 80 Gig Hard Drive

How i should use my hard drives. So i have a 500 gig, 250 gig, and 80 gig hard-drive plus my external 1tb. I know it used to be the smart thing to give windows its own hard drive but has that changed?

The 500 gig is the newest one, so i was guessing that i should install windows on that hard drive but i wasn't sure if i should install it on the 80 gig, but then its the smallest so i might want to get rid of it the soonest, but then again the case has 7 3. 5 drive slots.

Computer Will Post, But Freezes On Windows Install

After installing some new hardware, i went to install an os, and it fails on starting the install. The weird thing is, it actually posts and i get partway through the initial loading of the setup before it freezes. The first thing i tried to do is install winxp 64. I put the cd in, and it loads all of the drivers, but as soon as it gets to the "starting windows" part, it freezes. I don't even get as far as being able to choose which hard drive to install on. (The first time i tried to install, it froze- the second time i tried it, it would reboot every time it got this far. Now, it freezes every time. )

I then tried to install winxp 32bit, and was able to load the sata drivers from a floppy, but after the drivers were loaded, i had the same problem: it froze when it got to "starting windows", before being able to choose a partition. I'm wondering if maybe i set something wrong in the bios, or maybe a jumper? Or am i drawing too much power? Or do you folks have any other suggestions? I haven't had a hardware problem with any of the other components before installing these new processors.configurations:-
Motherboard: msi k8t master2-far (supports 2 cpus, but not dual-core cpus)
Ram: 1 gb (2x512) corsair pc3200 (cmx512re-3200llpt)

Install / Run Quake 4 Game On Windows 7

How can i get quake 4 to run in windows 7?

Answer:-
Did you install the game in administrator mode?

Method 1:

Id recommend you to uninstall and re-install the game in administrator mode and check if that fixes the issue. To install the game in administrator mode, a. Locate the program icon, right-click click run as administrator. B. When the uac message is displayed game in administrator, do one of the following:

I. If you are logged on as a standard user, or if uac is configured to always require credentials, enter the appropriate administrative credentials, and then click ok. Ii. If you are logged on as an administrator and uac is not configured to always require credentials, click yes to start the application. Proceed with the installation and check if that solves the issue. Also make sure you have the latest updates for the game installed on your computer. Method 2: install the game in a new user account

Create a new user account and check if the issue recurs in the newly created account. If the issue does not persist in the new user account, it could indicate that your old user account is corrupted. Access the link below and follow the steps to repair the corrupt user profile:

Fix a corrupted user profile

If the above methods do not help in fixing the issue, id suggest you get in touch with quake 4 support:

System Reboots When Install Windows Without Error Message

Assembling a rig for a friend; after troubleshooting various hardware problems, got it to correctly display video and recognize all the hardware. My trouble starts when i try to install windows.
