Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Problem

So, i just built a new pc and i bought this cooler to replace the stock one. Only problem was when i tried to put it in i must have screwed up or something because when i tried to click the 4 plugs down into the holes. The plastic on the things got bent and goofed up. I have tried squeezing them back together with needle nose pliers in order to get them to fit down there, at one point i even got 3 to click in and it was somewhat solid, but one was just down because half of the head had bent backwards. So, the cooler sat pretty firm, but it would still pivot on that axis which kinda weirded me out, i could not tell if it had full contact with the board. So, any tips. I just stuck the stock cooler on there for now. They clicked down easily with little force. Any ideas on clamping the plastic to get it to click into the holes? Anyone use this cooler? Should it pivot on that weird axis even once it is mounted, or was mine only doing that because all the plugs were not in firmly? Im not sure what to do with this cooler.

Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro

I've read around and it seems like the freezer is generally regarded as a good hs+f. I was just wondering if it had thermal grease pre-applied. Is it alright as-is or will i be replacing it with arctic silver?

Arctic Cooling Freezer 64 Pro + As5

I recently got an arctic cooling freezer 64 pro for my athlon64 3200+, i fitted with the thermal paste that was on it when i purchased it and i had a fair drop of 5-8 degrees (idle 28-34 degrees) so i thought i'd go the hole hog and get some arctic silver 5 after reading only good things about it, i have now applied it twice following the excellent guides available online, but the lowest i've had is 36 degrees, i no i should give it a while to get optimum cooling, but 36 just is not good enough even if it does drop a further 2 or 3 degrees. I am starting to think i should have just left it ! Has anyone any advice or ideas? The as5 is so thick compared to what i have used in he past is that right? Ive tried spreading with fingers, credit cards & i tried the "blob in the middle of cpu and let the heatsink flatten it" method to, but didn't spread to well and i don't really trust it, i like to see paste level before putting heatsink on. I, ve heard of thermal pads, are they any good? And can i buy one like i had in the first place on hs?

Arctic Cooling Freezer 64 Pro Vs Stock Cooler

I was reading some reviews on the arctic cooling freezer 64 pro as directed by another member and while reading these reviews i saw that throughout all of them the minimal temperature that the cpu reaches on idle is 29 while im looking at mine right now sitting at 31 (often 30) and my comp has been on for a couple days so its obviously not a good comparison but leans in my stock coolers favor. Is this 2 or 1 degree worth it or is there other benefits to this cooler?

Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro Cpu Fan Spinning Intermittently

My arctic cooling freezer 7 pro cpu fan is only spinning intermittently on my asus motherboard. I have an asus p5n-sli-e. The fan is plugged into my motherboard by the 'cpu' power socket (4 pin, not molex). The cpu power socket it plugs into works - as i was running another cpu fan on it just fine, and occasionally it will spin up for a few seconds but never any longer. Cant use this pc very much as obviously the cpu overheats which crashes the pc.

Which Cpu Cooler: Zalman Or Arctic Freezer ?

I want to overclock an intel pentium dual-core e5200, which cpu cooler will be better suited?

Zalman cnps7000c-cu led
Arctic freezer 7 pro

I don't know much about arctic freezer cpu coolers, they just arrived in sa. I do know that the zalman is pure copper, so shouldn't that provide better heat conductivity? It also weighs more than the arctic freezer pro. I can get them both for about the same price, but so far i'm leaning towards the zalman. Do you think that the above cpu coolers are too much? I just wanna take the e5200 above 3ghz.

Hard Drive In The Freezer

So i had three hard drives in my computer, a 320gig drive with my operating system, a 500gig drive for storage, and a 1 terabyte drive for storage. About a week ago my computer started acting extremely weird, and during one startup it halted and gave me a cryptic message that a drive was failing (but not which one). The next day i turned on the computer to find that the 500gig drive was not available, and i assumed that was the drive that had failed, so i popped it in the freezer to try and save some data. Several days later, my computer was still acting weird, and i got the same message. It turns out that the drive that was failing was the one with my operating system on it. I'm guessing that's why the 500gig drive went missing, because the os was being corrupted. Anyway, long story short, i have a perfectly good 500gig drive in the freezer with some data i'd like back. Are there any precautions i should take in letting it warm back up to room temperature, or have i completely hosed it by prematurely sticking it in the freezer unnecessarily?

Freezer Trick For Hard Drives

Came home from class and my pc was sitting at a boot error. I tried to boot up, and a nasty clicking sound was coming from my 600gig seagate (failed after almost exactly one year of use). I'm trying the baggie trick but before i do, i wanted to know if i had any other options. It gives a "disk error, please restart" or wte when i boot up. However, when i go to bios it does show up in the menu, etc. About the baggie freezer trick for hard drives, i know you're supposed to put it in a airtight to avoid condensation and leave it overnight. I've also from someone here that you can put a wash cloth around the hard drive after yo take it out which keeps you from accidentally shorting something, and limits the air that can get to the drive to form condensation. Also, about how much do those services cost that recover your data? Any ideas?

Core Contact Freezer Bad Experience

Upon installing it, the retention clip snapped off and my thumb slammed into the fins and cut me. End result, broken cooler, blood all over my striker extreme. I'm calling sunbeam tech tomorrow and am going to give them ***. My tuniq tower (made by the same company) was never this fragile or dangerous. The build quality of the freezer is terrible, at least on the one i got. The fins were loose, the stupid retention clip snapping off while applying normal pressure, and then there's the fact the finish on the direct touch heatpipes was awful. Overall a really bad experience for me with this cooler.

Cpu Cooling Fans

I'm building a basic lamp box. The cpu is a pentium d 3 ghz, middle of the road sort of chip. I'm wondering about cpu cooling fans. Is it "wise" to buy a premium fan, or will a stock intel fan do fine? There will be *no* overclocking, or similar foolishness going on here. It's a web development server. As it happens, i have a masscool 8wa740 sitting around, but the reviews at newegg are not good for this unit, so i'm giving hard thought to something else. One thing i have noticed are some fans screw down, and some have plastic snaps. I'm not a fan of plastic snaps. Any suggestions?

Active Ram Cooling

I've heard that the ocz gold vx get really hot. So i went looking for a way of cooling them with a fan, and i found this idea to be interesting: what about mounting a small fan inside of the case to blow directly between the ram sticks? It doesn't seem all that hard, has anyone done this before and how exactly would i tell the temp of the ram sticks? (Dont have any temp probes)

Custom Cooling System

I've got 6 blue led case fans, 80mm, one good quality 92mm fan, 3 40mm fans, and 2 or 3 moree 80mm plain black case fans. For my custom rig, i'm looking for custom place fans and was wondering what would be the best placement of these fans. I'm thinking 2 exhaust on the back, two front intake (one on the top above the cd drive, one below, or maybe two below if i can fit it and two above), one or two side intake, one ducted to ram, and blow hole exhaust on the top - any ideas on how i can put the fans to make my cooling as efficient as possible? I can place fans just about anywhere.

9600 Pro Cooling / Overclock

I have a 9600 pro and i overclocked it at 450. 00 core speed and 324. 00 memory speed using radclocker. Never had a problem, ran quite well. The fan died on it after one year so i replaced it with much better fan/heatsink from vantec iceberq. Now i'm running at 475 core and 324 memory. I have been running it this fast for a long time and with no problems. But i have been told i am running it too hard and it will crap out on me soon. Is this true?

Fanless Or Completely Silent Water Cooling Units

Have any of you ever thought about building an absolutely silent pc. I think that would be really cool. There are silent psu options in the antec phantom500 and some thermaltake units, the nothbridges nowerdays are coming with heat pipes. Some gfx cards have no-fan heatsinks and you can buy some good fanless ones too you could get awaywith no case fans if you dont plan to oc at all but the stumbling block is always going to be the cpu cooler. Are there any fanless or completely silent water cooling units out there?

Hard Drive Cooling (pair Of Scsi 15k)

I have been trying to determine which devices would be best suited for cooling a pair of scsi 15k hdds. I have been looking around at some of the following (in order) of interest. Should also mention, pc case is aluminum (lian-li pc-61) and also sound dampening is not a huge concern, mainly concerned about cooling. Smart drive 2002 copper hard drive enclosure- scsi compatible but very mixed reviews re: cooling effects (@$70 each, might be a waste of money). Aerocool hb-101 hard drive cooler aluminum- wondering if this is a gimmick or a real valid option. Or . Silverstone sst-fp53-b 5. 25" hard drive cooler or a cooler master cooldrive 3. ? Any other recommendations based on experience or reviews? Thanks in advance for any help.

Dell Studio Slim Graphics Card Cooling

Am a complete newbie to modding pcs and playing with the insides of them, other than changing a graphics card or adding more memory. But i have come across a problem and the only solution is to start altering the pc. I have a dell studio slim, and when i initially bought it, my idea was to not play computer games and use it only for work purposes. Yeah right! It ran beautifully with only visual studio and sql server running but now that am no longer doing any development at home, the pc has turned into a world of warcraft machine, and am slightly addicted. Now i bought a new graphics card xfx geforce 9500gt 1024mb ddr2 low profile/half height pci express 2. 0 video card, and its awesome. I can up all the settings to almost the top in wow, and if i don't play for more than a couple of hours at a time, everything is fine. However i started to see the screen flicker on and off, and at first i thought it was my monitor. I switched to an old monitor and things seemed to be fine. So i blamed the monitor. Dell replaced the monitor with no questions, and things settled down again for a while. Until a couple of weeks ago when i put in a weekend of gaming. The screen started flickering again. I went inside the machine and noticed that it was real hot, and the graphics card was noticeably warmer. So it could be the graphics card is not liking the slim case and (now i notice) very little airflow other than the fan on the processor and the fan on the power unit. So am in need of a bit of advice. I want to buy a new case - put all the components of the dell into it, and make sure there are plenty of fans (quiet ones please) and airflow to keep the graphics card cool. This would have the added benefit of maybe buying a higher end graphics card as the slim/half height issue would be removed and be able to add in some funky stuff to make the pc look awesome. Would anyone know what type of motherboard i have in my dell and are there cases out there that will fit it, as i have unfortunately heard its a hard thing to find (or it was as the posts all seem to be really old that i read).
