How can i reboot my computer to factory settings dell windows 7? Im trying to do as i said in my question but when i use factory restore image thing in the repair mode nothing comes up and i want to restore it, also i don't have the disk and i have a dell dimension e520 i got windows 7 installed later in time. Can any one help me with my problem i know how to do it but you can it wont let me.

Limited To No Connectivity After Restoring To Factory Settings
I restored my dell to factory settings and everything was fine. I was trying to get my d-link antenna to work. I pulled out the air card while the computer was on and i'm wondering if i screwed something up. Everything seems to work fine except i cannot get onto the internet directly. I tried all the basic fixes like shutting down the cable modem and router and putting them back on. My laptop connects fine and the ethernet cable is fine. I tried repairing it going through network connections and that did nothing.

Your system probably has a 'recovery partition', which you can load by pressing one of the function key when you boot your system. One manual for an asus m50 series says that you need to press the f9 key at bootup and follow instructions, though this may not work with your particular model. Of course, depending on what options your recovery software has, this may overwrite any important documents currently on your system. I'd consider booting off of a live linux cd like 'puppy linux', then use a usb drive to backup any important documents on the hard drive before 'restoring' the operating system.

How can i restore my compaq laptop to factory settings? Ok basically my computer is a mess and i want to make it like it was when i bought it. Apparently i need recovery disks or a previous recovery point, the discs it was suppose to come with or be ordered i never got to so thats not an option, and there is no recovery point anywhere near the time i bought it. Restoring windows xp to factory settings on a dell desktop. My family's desktop computer is riddled with viruses, so need to restore it to factory settings. All data backed up. I just reset my computer in my bedroom back to factory settings and im trying to connect the internet and i cant figure out how. I do the thing on the control panel, network, wizard, and all that stuff and nothing happened. The computer im on now is on wifi but my bedrooms computer's wifi card (or something) is broken, or thats what the at&t internet dude told me. So i run my computer's internet over a usb cable and that worked fine but now i cant create a connection and i don't want to have to make my mom call at&t and all that stuff for a guy to come out to our house.

Formatting Problems
Im trying to install windows 2003 server on one of my computers and the problem i am having is that when its done formatting and it starts to install the windows components it freezes the install exactly at 34 mins. Ive tryed this several times but i keep getting the same problem. Anyone occur this problem before by any chance? Im thinking the hd is going bad but it also could be from the computer cause i think i had this problem before when formatting on this comp.

Ok here's the scenario
On my 120gb he'd on my laptop i have 2 partitions (c and d) both 53gb capacity
On my c drive i have xp home
On my d drive i have xp home
In the disk management console (right click my comp>manage>disk management) the c drive is listed as the system disk and the d is listed as the boot disk, what i want to do is install windows 7 on the drive and then format the c drive why? Because i want to keep software that is especially big on it eg; the adobe suite, games, my itunes library etc. How can i format the c drive so there is nothing on it? Because when i'm booted into xp on the d drive in the disk management console format is greyed out. If you need anymore info i will give it to you in additional details, and yes i have my original xp disk but my win7 dvd can only install from an os so it doesn't have a boot menu.

At work the boss is kind of cheap. Thanks to this forum, and a little electrical, mechanical and soldering work by myself, i was able to to build a network on 2 comps off a cat 6 ethernet cable, direct connect. My question now is: i want to put an hd in a comp with 10 gig capacity, while the master is 3 gig. I want to format the slave, for it has win 98 on it, and i want it as slave, not as second os. Is there a way i can format the hd (the slave), before i install it, and if not, when i install it, how can i format it without killing the master?

Ocz 2x256 (pc2700, cpu-z says its pc3200 for some reason)
And other crap . I was just wondering if i could pop out my 2100+ and just put in a 2500+ barton. I was thinking about buying a whole new setup (p4 2. 8c, 2x512 pc3300, p4p800-dlx), but i think this little upgrade might be good enough for now.

Partition Hard Drive Without Formatting
I accidentally ran the "clean" command during diskpart in command prompt on the wrong drive. So what that did was delete the partition of the drive. But i did not format the drive after this, so my data is still there. The drive is currently unallocated, is there anyway i can partition the drive (to ntfs) without doing a format ? I've searched on google and all i found was crappy software that did not do what i wanted. I've tried hiren's boot cd partition tools no luck there. Also tried testdisk no luck there either.

But i did not format the drive after this, so my data is still there. The drive is currently unallocated, is there anyway i can partition the drive (to ntfs) without doing a format ? I've searched on google and all i found was crappy software that did not do what i wanted. I've tried hiren's boot cd partition tools no luck there. Also tried testdisk no luck there either.

Usb Drive Is Inaccessible And Needs Formatting
I have a "adata" 1gb flash drive that i bought a year ago that worked fine till a couple of days ago. Now i'm having serious and annoying issues with it. When ever i plug it into the pc it automatically detects it as normal but when i try to access it it says that the usb drive is inaccessible and needs formatting, when i "right-click" and check its properties in mycomp. It says that the drive has 0 bytes space on it and 0 bytes used *o_o*. Ok since the data on the drive wasn't that important to me but the drive itself i went ahead and format the drive, now it shows me the correct values when i check its properties and i can use it normally to store data on it but if i unplug it and plug it again the drives goes to the "drive unaccessible needs format" etc etc. A friend of mine who has a tad more knowledge in the matter than myself said that the drives boot sector is damaged and that i should seek out some kind of software to repair this. Since then i tried a lot of types of programs & software but i still didn't managed to fix it. I'm thinking my problem is that i don't properly understand how a freaking flash drive works . Can someone here explain any solutions as to how i can fix my problem ? How to recreate the boot sector on the drive ? How to define its filesystem ?

Formatting 1tb Hdd To Fat32
My friend has a 1tb maxtor external hdd. He is unable to play movies on his phillips dvd player because the dvd player can only read fat32 and the hard-disk is ntfs. And format command in winxp doesn't work because it says too big for fat32. Is there any other way to format it as fat32?

Formatting External Hard Drive
Alright so, i have a backup drive that i've been using for around six months now. It is a wd smartware mybook essential hard drive. Somehow. It managed to un-format itself. I've been trying to format my f: drive myself, but every time i try to the computer says that if i try to do a "ntfs" format, i will lose everything on my hard drive. I want to know if there is any possible way to fix this problem by formatting it and not losing my data on the external or just completely fixing this problem. I've asked around (as you can see, i'm not very computer savy) and everyone says to back up the things on the hard drive and just format it. Well, i can't. I cannot even open up the files on my external hard drive until it is formatted. The reason that these files are so important to me is because i store all of my pictures, music, movies and documents my external. My computer does not have enough memory, so i store them onto the external. Every picture i've ever taken for about the last five years is on this hard drive, and i'm a huge memory person. Let's just say if these pictures are lost. I will be very upset.

Fatal Error - Formatting During The Windows Installation
I've been trying to format my system but right after it finishes formatting i get a fatal error during the windows installation process. That fatal error is a data error (cyclic redundancy check). I know that it's because of my hard drives, but how do i fix this issue? I have 2 seagate barracuda 7200. 10 250gb sata ii hard drives in raid 0. Any help and suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Wd 500gb Sata Drives / Formatting Issue
So story goes i have 4 almost identical western digital wd5000aaks drives here, 500gb, 16mb buffer. I had put them in my fileserver as a raid-0 stripe of 2. 0tb and everything was swell. In windows home server i was able to use it as if it were a 2tb (more like 1. 8tb) hard drive and removing it from the data pool and quickly backing up files due to the striping. I have never had a problem with the drives, i even have more than just these 4 but they are in other computers, i really like these drives they love raid. I was able to remove the disk from the drive pool completely and remove the disks, good. Now the confusion. See before i took the hard drives out i went to the rocketraid's bios and deleted the array, right? Then when the computer restarted i took a hdd out and put it in another computer, nothing. Doesn't even spin with power. Try it in the internal sata ports, sata card, usb, everything, no show. Not showing in disk manager or the like, not spinning up, no my computer, etc. So i put the drive back in the server, shows up perfectly in the rocketraid bios shows up in windows, it's basically back at home i can do whatever i want with it. Go into disk manager, delete the partition, create a new ntfs partition, and it shows up in my computer. I take the drive and put it in the next computer it won't show up anywhere. This one particular drive when i connected it, it showed ~465gb unformatted space in disk manager. I format it and now a strange thing happens: it has 4 partitions now instead of the 1 i asked for. It's like [100gb unformatted][43gb unformatted][802gb drive _][50gb drive f] what the ***! The drive f even shows up in my computer. The 802gb one is nowhere to be seen but the disk manager. I have no idea where it grabbed these figures (remember this is still in the same server the raid0 was created. I go into the rocketraid bios and it's just a plain jane legacy 500gb disk, although i did try creating a 'single disk' jbod on the drive and then removed it because it didn't help. That's just one of the drives so far all 4 of them are doing the same thing. I just put one in a dell optiplex gx270 and nothing in the bios (do i need to jumper to 1. 5gb/s?), Tried it on a sata -> usb adapter and get the same issues, shows up in device manager as a random hdd w/o a name, appears as though it can be safely 'removed' from windows but it gives you an error. Will show up fine in the server any day of the week. Any light on the topic?
