Memory Could Not Be Read Error
Replies: 9 | Post Date: 10-30-2005, 02:25 PM | User: Ballamalla | Forums: hardforum.comI am having trouble playing all games. With any source game or hl2 i am getting either "the instruction at 0x# referenced memory at 0x#. The memory could not be 'read" error or the hole system will freeze with looping sounds. Sometimes while just browsing the web the hole system will just freeze. When i am playing bf2 the game will crash to the desktop. When i turned off the vpu recover feature the game would go black screen for a few seconds then go back to the game. While playing diablo 2 my system will freeze with looping sounds. I dont think this is a heat issue (but it could be) because i removed the side panel off my comp and put a little fan. I am using the new catalyst drivers. Any help would be appreciated.

Referenced Memory Could Not Be Read Errors
It seems like every since i installed sp2 i randomly get referenced memory could not be read errors. I cleaned my ram with a eraser, tested my ram, practically had my whole system checked out. I narrowed it down to sp2 since it all started when i installed sp2(or so i think its caused by sp2). Does anyone have any ideas or suggestions.amd athlon 1700+

Disk Read Error
So the other day my uncle called me to do some computer work. Setup outlook with his new e-mail and do some general house cleaning. Part of what i did was uninstall an outdated copy of symantec corporate anti-virus and installed the beta of microsoft security essentials (a day before the final version got released). Mse starts going through its first run update and scan procedure so i leave it be. The next day i get a call back, his computer won't boot into windows. It gets as far as the screen with the blue dell bar at the top passes the "pbr" check but then says "disk read error. Press crtl-alt-del to restart. "
Upon further inspection the hard drive is in some sort of seek loop. Three short seeks followed by a long one. A few moments later and it does it again. It is not making any clicks or sounds i would call unusual. I move the drive to another computer and it does the same thing, but holds xp from booting all the way. It gets past the logo screen, but hangs on the black screen between the logo and login. I ripped apart my external drive for its ide to usb adapter and while making the noise, it freezes the computer until i turn the drive off. Then xp acts like nothing happened. I should mention that the first time i plugged it in usb, the drive was recognized but windows froze before "the drive is ready to use". Now it just freezes without being recognized. Any ideas? Maybe a low-level program that would be worth trying? And since there is important data he needs, if all else fails, what is a good option for a professional data recovery company (he knows it would be $500+)? And after this, he is going to get a backup solution. The drive is a seagate 7200. 7 80gb ide.

Startup Gives A Disk Read Error
This is a problem my mom is having with her computer, so this might be slightly vague. Until today she was having no problems. However, today she turned the computer on, got the startup blurb, it went to the windows loading screen but decided to just stay on that screen with the windows loading bar just continuing on its merry way. She decided to restart the computer, the startup screen came up but then it apparently went to blue screen of death. She pressed whatever key it was and it went to another screen that said, 'disk read error - press ctrl, alt, delete to restart'. Now since i been speaking to her it just goes straight to the disk read error screen after the startup screen, no windows loading, nothing.

Raid 6 + 2 Failed Drives + Read Error On One Drive
Well just as the title says, i have a server with an areca 1280ml and 14 x 1. 5 tb seagate hard drives. I recently suffered the simultaneous loss of 2 drives followed by one hard drive giving read errors. As a result, rebuilding the array is impossible.could anyone give me any suggestions to recover the array?
Should i contact a data recovery company to fix that hard drive and proceed with a rebuild?

Cdrw - Read / Write Error Or Bad Medium Detected
A friend of mine bought my old hp 7200i 2x2x6 cdrw off me and is getting a burn error with nero and goldenhawk. The error seems to be the same and the drive acts fine otherwise. It worked great and nothing has been changed [ide wise]. Error: write command failed on device 1:1:0
Read/write error or bad medium detected 04h 00h 02h 03h 73h 02h
It happens right at the beginning of the burn-process, just after the lead-in is written.

A Disk Read Error Occurred - Press Ctrl+alt+del To Restart
This morning i restarted my computer, and got this message: a disk read error occurred. Press ctrl+alt+del to restart. Am i correct in thinking the harddrive has failed? I've tried reseating it, checked connections etc, and i got a normal post beep. Do i need a new harddrive, or is there a way i can fix it?

Disk Read Error Occurred - Press Ctrl Alt Del To Restart
I have a one year old dell dimension 4600, 2. 6 ghz, maxtor calypso serial ata 120 gb hd, 1 gb ram i dont think anything else really matters. Yesterday my computer was working perfectly fine, this morning i wake up and the screen is frozen, but its a different type of "frozen" then i've ever had. I can access the taskbar and i can open some new programs but currently open ones are disabled, on top of that ctrl+alt+del didnt work. So naturally i pressed the power button and my computer restarted, the first time i did this the computer went only as far as the windows xp loading screen and wouldnt budge from there, so i restarted again and same thing. Then it asked me if i wanted to go into safe mode and i did, and everything seemed to be more or less fine, so from past experiences i assumed that i can restart and everything would be back to normal. This was not the case, now right after the initial "dell" screen the pc gives this message " a disk read error occured. Press ctrl alt del to restart" since i got that error about 30 minutes ago, ive tried several things, ive tried to go into safe mode again by pressing the f8 key at startup, ive played around with some bios configurations(dont worry, everything is back to default now) i also pressed the f12 key to get into menu where i choose where to boot from. After trying several of the options, i resorted to the system diagnostics tests, where i ran a test of my hard drive, which is most likely the problem(right?). This test returned errors in the :read test" and the "verify test" the read test returned "fail, error code 0f00:0244, msg:block 81525: uncorrectable data error or media is write protected" and the "verify test" returned "fail, error code 0f00:1a44, msg: block 0: "uncorrectable data error or media is write protected" and thats where i am right now, i hope you can help, and i really need to salvage the data on my hard drive because unfortunately a lot of it isnt backed up.

Memory Oc Error
Ok its a long story but ill try to make this short, i've had this system overclocked and fully stable for atleast 6 months, then one day i decided to back down my overclock, when i restarted i got a bsod, i went back in bios, relaxed ram timings, and what do u know another bsod, back in bios lowered ram divder, reboot crash, i finally set all the settings at stock, guess what bsod, at this point i was scratching my head, i made more changes in bios, left all ram settings at auto, and cpu settings set at manual, it worked, i ran a few games and such everything seemed fine, so i figured even the the system was fine at stock, i wanted to get to the root of the problem, so i began overclocking at small margins 10fsb at a time, 210fsb i hit a wall, bsod, i knew something was wrong tried one stick of ram at a time, i realized one stick was bad, and the other i can overclocked it too 281fsb with ease, now silly me i went out and bought another ocz 2gb kit of ram, put them in left all settings at auto, so try to overclock everything was fine my system seemed like it was running normal, now this is were is gets totally weird, i decided to change the ram timings and such, reboot bsod, now after playing around with all these settings for hours on end, i finally some what know what the problem might be, i can set my ram timings at 5. 5. 5. 15 2t no problems there, its the other ram settings that if i change them from auto to manual, then the system still crashes, p. S. I tried this motherboard, ram cpu, with a different psu, hardrive etc, still same result, only thing i haven't tried was swamping cpu's, even that i cant do my m2n-sli deluxe doesnt support the phenom ii's, my guess it has to be one of the two things motherboard, or built memory controller in cpu is fried.

Memory Dump Error
I've had my computer for a year and everything has gone pretty well. There is a problem though, it usually happens while i'm using the program vegas video 5. 0. I have 1gb of ram (2 512mb sticks), and i believe that is plenty to be able to render a video and talk on ventrilo (a voice comm. Program) at the same time, but my computer believes otherwise. Whenever i try to do this my computer will get a blue screen talking about a "memory dump error" or something like that, then i have to restart my computer and everything is back to normal. This doesn't only happen with these 2 programs, it sometimes happens when i try to open 3+ programs at the same time (ex: talking on aim, having mirc open, talking on vent, and then opening up a video file at the same time). I'm pretty sure that my ram could be corrupt or something, and i was wondering what you guys thought or how you think i could fix it?

Tf720 Memory Error
My motherboard, the screen went blank on it, (turned completely white first, and now only 1 diagnostic light is on, (led #1 on, led #2 off=memory error, as it says on the board). I was thinking video card, since the video uses the memory/ram installed on the board, but i don't have a video card to throw in it to find out, any ideas? Btw, i also tried to switch out all the ram, with 4 different sticks in different slots and nothing.

Memtest86 Memory Error
I just purchased 4 1gb sticks to help my computer limp along till i get to do a full upgrade. When i ran memtest86 with all 4 sticks installed, the screen filled with a whole bunch of random characters during test 2. I tested each stick individually, and test all 4 of my ram slots but everything passed. I only get the error if i have all 4 sticks installed at the same time. I'm currently running ubuntu 8. 04 and the rest of my system specs are below. Any advice on what's happening and/or how to fix it is appreciated. Specs:
Cpu: amd athlon 64 3000+
Ram: 2gb (2 x 1 gb) kingston valuram
Mobo: asus a8v-e deluxe
Video: geforce 6600 256mb
Psu: 480w tagan
Os: ubuntu 8. 04 for amd64

My father just bought a new camera, kodak easyshare z195, and he bought a sandisk sdhc 4gb memory card all brand new. When he puts his memory card in, the printer beeps furiously and says memory card error, and he is unable to get his photos on the computer. Can anybody tell me why this is happening?

Visiontek Tv Wonder Hd 650 Memory Parity Error
Seems like if i use the first two options (display adapter and problem report) in the maintenance section of the catalyst cd that came with my tv tuner, i get a bsod which reads:hardware malfunction nmi:parity check/memory parity error call your hardware vendor for support the system has halted. This seems to happen only when i install the drivers for this tv tuner. If the drivers are not installed and i use maintenance options i wont get that that bsod. I have been with dell on the phone for hours and all they could come up with was to install the os (vista) again and to make sure to download and install the chipset drivers first. All that said and done and i still get the error. Tv seems to be working fine under vista media center etc. I only get that screen when trying to access the maintenance section of cd. Anyone has any ideas to why this is happening?

Dumping Physical Memory Blue Screen Error
Lastnight i was using my laptop and its battery went down so the laptop switched off. When i restarted it loads the window starting screen, however the place where it should ask the window password, it automatically displays a blue screen with dumping physical memory and some long hexadecimal code error and restarts itself. I have very important data in the drive on which windows xp is installed i dont want to lose that. I think my windows has crashed. Can anybody experience and fix this problem before ? I tried to select last known good configuration but that doesn't make any difference.

Bsod - Torrent Client Is Causing A Memory Error
So i picked up a q9400 a little over a week ago. It's running great. But last week, i noticed i kept getting bsods. I narrowed it down to the fact that it was occurring when i was using azureus/vuze. Through my research on the topic, i narrowed it down to one of two things: 1. Hard drive issue 2. Memory issue. I double checked all plugs on motherboard and hard drives. I ran disk check and error repair on all disks. The bsod’s came back. Then i found someone stating that it may be that the bit torrent client is causing a memory error when it is caching. So, i removed two of the 1gb sticks i had in there, and i didn't seem to get a bsod overnight at all (or this morning) when i was using the pc w/ azureus/vuze running. So, i am wondering if since i just switched my cpu, flashed my bios to accommodate that cpu, and the fsb is now changed, should i not be using ddr2-800 ram? I’d like to go back to 2x2gb or 4x1gb (and never had this issue before upgrading from an e2200 to the q9400).

Test All Memory Of Memory Above 1mb Using Virtual 8086 Mode
I reinstalled windows last night, and reinstalled a bunch of programs. Then i went to bed and when i woke up, i restarted the machine, and it wouldn't turn on.initially i got beep codes which were 1 long (a couple of times), this is a phoenix bios. My motherboard has one of those lcd screens that tell you error codes. When i looked it up in the manual, it says:
Test all memory of memory above 1mb using virtual 8086 mode, page mode and clear the memory
Not sure what this means specifically. I'm going to run memtest, but wanted to know if anyone could clarify the above message for me.
