The Dns Server Isnt Responding

Yesterday night i surfed the web, then somehow it stopped working. I tried using the internet in every program, yahoo messenger, firefox, ie, no were works, except torrent downloads. I tried to put the opendns's, they won't work either. Restarting the router won't work either. I am using windows 7, and at the network and sharing center it looks ok, shows as connected to the internet. I get this error while troubleshooting. I also tried to disable the microsoft virtual wifi miniport adapter, that won't work either. Tried to put a static ip, won't work either. I have a laptop using windows xp, on which the internet is working. I also got an exact same laptop, with windows 7, again, internet is working. I really have no idea what is wrong. I tried disabling the antivirus and firewall, to see if it works, but nothing. I also made sure i don't have any bonjour software installed, such as mdnsresponder.exe. Tried flushdns, didn't work, the google dns didn't work either. I am not sure the problem comes from the dns, all other computers have those dns's and are working. Did a virus scan too, with a different antivirus. And sometimes it's loading the page, but very slowly, and at that same time, if i try to load another page, it won't work again. It just say "looking up (ex.google.com)" at the bottom of the firefox browser. It sometimes happen to work, but stops after 5 minutes. I even went to the extreme, and reinstalled windows, the problem persists. I honestly never encountered something so difficult to solve.

Hardware For A Dc/dns/ad Server

New office move coming, going to be doing a a dc/ad and a dns server, i was thinking the route of a single server running 3 vm's on it one for each item above. The office will have about 15 users at most with domain accounts, there will be about 10 servers, so i assume the hardware need shouldn't be super powered or anything?

I was considering raid 6 for the redundancy. Is it a good idea to run a dc or ad on a virtual machine? Or should it be on it's own seperate server?

Do you think a back up dc would be needed? Run a a 2nd dc in a vm as backup?

All of the above should run fine in a vm environment i assume?

Should i go with server 2008, or 2003, i have heard 2003 will be eol soon.

Dns Server Wont Connect

The dns server wont connect? All my connections say local only? Im having a few problems connecting to the internet with a laptop, on both networks it tells me when i try to connect that the connections is local access only, so i cant access the internet, i have reset my winsock, i have flushed my dns cache, and also i have tried to ping multiple ip addresses and it just comes up saying this

1. 0. 0. 1:53

Dns server timed out

Time out time was 2 sec

Dns server timed out

Time out time was 2 sec

Also, more information, i have just recently reset my computer to factory conditions because when trying to delete symnatec from the computer it wiped out half my programs. When i connect via landlines or wireless, it just says that my dns server isn't connecting right and that i should contact my administrator or provider. When i try to connect via only landline, it tells me that there is a problem connection then it suggests that i reset my network adapter. When i do this ipconfig/all it just tells me a bunch of connections, but on all the connections it says the dns settings then its blank next to this, also i have turned of firewalls, and any and all other things the same thing happened on the computer i am currently talking on, but the problem was resolved by a network provider and we cant contact them because they are not open right now.

Can't Connect To Internet - Problem With Dns Server

My isp doesn't know why i can't connect. What's wrong with my internet? So our internet goes down, and i'm forced to use my neighbors unprotected wifi (only 1 bar that constantly d/c's, mind you. ) Our isp, palm coast, decides that we're not important enough and waits a few days to call us and send a guy over. Then when the guy is supposed to show up sometime from 8 to noon, he shows up 2 1/2 hours late - with no courtesy call or anything. Then, he can't figure out why my internet won't work. And our community won't let us switch isp's to some other company. My question is. Since my isp is completely incompetent, i'm asking the yahoo answers community. How can i fix my internet on my own? Everytime i open 'diagnostics policy service, ' it says there is a problem with the dns server. I've tried flushing the dns through the cmd; tried resetting the router, tried unplugging the modem, router, even the cable things in the breaker box. And it still says 'local only. ' i've been thinking about buying a new router, but i don't want to waste money if this is not the problem.

Laptop Touchpad Isnt Working

For some reason i just turned off my laptop then i came back, turned on my laptop and my touchpad wasn't working and i press caps lock my keyboard doesn't work luckily i have a backup mouse and keyboard. Someone tell me what is happening. Answer:-
Sounds like the cord inside the laptop that connects the keyboard and trackpad to the motherboard of the laptop is lose. If it is under warranty take it in for repairs, if not then open it up and plug it in tight. Also make sure no moisture is around plug while you have it open.

How To Repair Dns And Key Ports Issue?

Recently i got a blue screen error on my computer. It moved so fast that i could not read it thoroughly, but it was a crash dump. This happened over and over. I would get the error, the laptop would restart itself, go back onto the main screen just before the sign in screen on my user account, freeze, get the error again, and repeat this endless cycle until i booted it into safe mode. (In safe mode, i decided to uninstall net nanny, which i put on my computer for my child. Recently a file in it went corrupt, and i intended to uninstall it in the first place, but never got around to it. I still do not know if this is the source of the problem. ) Another thing, when i tried booting it into "safe mode with networking" this gave me the same error as when i tried getting on originally. The net nanny thing didn't seem to solve it. I kept getting the error, so i finally said "*** with it. " And did a system restore to a couple days back. I rebooted my computer afterward, and i could sign into my user account once again. But, it wasn't over apparently. Now when i try to connect to the internet i can't. I cannot use any of my browsers (ie, chrome, firefox, safari), my daughter cannot sign into msn, she can't play onverse, etc. (She has a windows 7, vaio laptop, 64 bit by the way. )

When i troubleshoot it, i get a dns error saying, "your dns appears unable to resolve ip addresses. "

And i also get a key ports error:

"Failed to connect to the service. This could be due to improper proxy or firewall settings. Please review your proxy and firewall settings. Proxy settings can be accessed through windows live messenger options. For firewall settings, please see the retailer's instructions. "

It is not a problem with my router, i can access the internet fine from this laptop. I have looked on google but no answers have worked for me so far. I hope that if i get a good answer to this, it will also help many other people in the future.

Laptop Power Button Not Responding

My laptop is a clevo d900t. I know that it's receiving power and working because i can use the cd player (it can play cds without booting the computer and obviously needs to access the motherboard etc, to do this). However when i press the power button to actually boot it, nothing at all happens, not even lights or fans. I have even tried pushing the contact underneath it manually. I figure the circuit board with the power button on it has somehow broken but i want to make sure before i spend money replacing it. Is there anything else that could cause this? Also is there any way to force it to power on without using the button?

External Hard Drive Not Responding

I just recently got a 1tb western digital hard drive and have been using it with a sata to usb adapter for external storage. It was working fine for a few days, but now, the drive will not show up at all when plugged in. When it is plugged in, windows will not respond, most system functions fail to run even though i can still use the system outside of those functions. At first, i was still able to see the partition drive letter listed in my computers, but it listed no size for the drive, and i couldn't explore it. I tried running a chkdsk command and it did make some repairs, but it couldn't complete part of the repair because it claiming there wasn't sufficient space to do so. I have moved a lot of data to the drive, but i know it wasn't even half full. Ive been trying various apps to retrieve the data, but so far nothing can see the drive to do anything with it. My latest attempt is getdataback. When the app tries to scan for drives, i get an error saying: windows - drive not ready / exception processing message. Any other suggestions as to what i should try next? Any other good apps for trying to either retrieve the data or repair the drive issue? I will try to hook the drive up internally next, but i did trying hooking it up to esata, but that didn't allow access either.

Bsod - Nvlddmkm Has Stopped Responding

I was originally able to play games fine, and have stability for about the first 4-5 weeks of owning the system. Any games, videos, or applications would run fine on my setup. But after that, i started getting bsod's with the "nvlddmkm has stopped responding" message. I tried both updating and then rolling back the drivers, but it did not resolve. I then tried to install ntune to observe the temperatures on the video card, but as soon as i would try to open up the ntune application, it would suddenly bsod as well. I would also be getting bsod's from watching videos (sometimes even youtube) and also bad artificating. I also tried rolling back all the windows updates and doing a full system restore to the settings that gateway originally gave me, and that did not resolve the problem either. So me and the tech support guy came to the same conclusion, this has got to be a hardware problem. So after a 3 week wait, and a $40 shipping cost to send my system back, the motherboard, memory, and video card were all completely replaced by gateway. So after i got it back, i went ahead and installed nvidia's latest drivers, which are 185. 85. But to my surprise, i got the same bsod once again. Needlessly to say, i was shocked. I have also tried running the windows memory diagnostic tool, and it comes back in the clear. I am skeptical that it might be a hardware issue, because as i said, the motherboard, memory, and video card have all been replaced. So i tried abandoning windows vista x64 and installing windows 7 x64. That's what i'm running now, and guess what? Same bsod problem. I have never had problems with an nvidia card until this setup. What i've done:

- Had the motherboard, memory and video card completely replaced by gateway
- Tried cleaning, rolling back, and also tried installing latest nvidia drivers. - Used both vista x64 and win7 x64
- Ran windows memory diagnostic, came back clear
- Cannot use ntune to monitor temperatures, as it triggers a bsod as well
- Installed all windows updates, and also rolled them back
- Done a full system restore
- Don't want to mess with hardware, as i paid to have a 2-year warranty and don't want to void it. - Tried uninstalling and reinstalling my games (cod4, warcraft 3, deadspace, etc)

Conclusion:

I just want to play my damn game. I am a big cod4 player and i just can't play it right now, and that's frustrating. I don't care what i have to do to fix this, i just want it fixed.

Monitor, Keyboard, And Mouse Not Responding

I'm usually pretty good at trouble-shooting, and maybe i'm just hoping the motherboard isn't fried, but this happened in a pretty unusual way. My husband just started working for a taxi business and they gave him a nextel walkie-talkie/gps unit. At about 3 in the morning last night, the speakers attached to the computer started emitting a very high-pitched, static-y noise and we turned them (the speakers) off. My husband said that earlier when he was using the nextel near the computer, something similar happened. Anyway, we woke up this morning and the monitor, usb keyboard and usb mouse will not respond to the computer. When i plug in the optical mouse to any of the 6 usb ports, it flashes red for just a second, and then nothing. This is extremely perplexing to me. We have a dell inspiron 530 running xp.

Display Driver Nvlddmkm Stopped Responding

I recently upgraded both the motherboard and my video card and have been experiencing ongoing issues of the same symptoms with 3 of my most played games, which are bioshock, counter-strike source and crysis. Issue will occur at random, which results in game play pausing for a few seconds then screen goes black. Only way to get out of it is to perform a ctrl+alt+del then terminate affected game via task manager, in which a vista bubble notification appears in the bottom right stating "display driver nvlddmkm stopped responding, but has successfully recovered"

It seems that many people have been experiencing this issue for quite sometime (over a year) based on the searches i've done any have not been able to find any solutions. Any thoughts and/or suggestions guys?

I'm also running the latest version of forceware drivers, which is 182. 08, which was released last week.

Pci Express Slot Not Responding To Hardware

I have an optiplex gx620, which has run wonderfully for 2 years with no problems. I upgraded to powercolor's hd 2400 256mb pci express card a few months ago, again with no problems. As i was carefully dinking about in my case yesterday, (with the computer on), i apparently touched something, and the display suddenly gave-out; the touch was as delicate as is imaginable. Thinking i had fried the card, i tried to install the old peg which was working just fine when i made the upgrade, and it didn't work either. I should note that with either of these cards, the computer makes its start-up as usual, as i can tell from the sounds of the boot sequence. There is no other indication that anything is wrong, and that's with the card in, and the monitor plugged-in. I have a lot of experience installing and upgrading hardware, but no real practical experience troubleshooting the motherboard or figuring-out where to look to diagnose a problem like this. I wonder, is the peg slot fried? Why is the computer operating without a problem with this condition? Is there a default setting in bios that took-over and disabled the slot? Is this fixable?

In bios, it doesn't give any indication that there is anything wrong with the slot either. The pci menu shows all of the slots, and the peg is simply labeled empty. Also, if there is no way to fix the slot, can anyone recommend a good pci gaming card for under $200?

Hp Officejet Pro Scanner Software Not Responding

Hp officejet pro scanner software not responding? This the third time (3 different printers)i had problems with their solution's center software. They have installed and uninstalled several times and i cannot get the printer via the solutions center software program to scan or upload photos from stick pro via the printer. However, i did get it to work with the 2nd replacement but that had a paper tray problem; now again the scanner application is work working. I guess it will take another six to eight persons from hp to finally resolve the problem. After several hours, again with hp they cannot resolve their software problem. I can scan form paint and cs, but i would like to use the imagining software from the printer, especially loading my pictures into my computer. Why would it work from other applications, but not it's own? I'm beginning to hate hp. Any ideas?

Logitech V220 Mouse Randomly Stoped Responding

My mouse is giving me some hard time. Driver Stopped Responding - All Unreal Engine 3 Games

I was having issues with mirror's edge a few months ago where the drivers would stop responding. I figured it was the game and forgot about it. Now, i have borderlands and it is doing the same thing. It appears that all unreal engine 3 games are causing the drivers to stop responding for some reason. Temps are always below 65 on average, but right before the crash they go up to 70-72 degrees (and the gpu usage goes from 50% to 80-100% in borderlands). I just can't figure out why the drivers would stop responding. Tried catalyst 9. 6, 9. 8, 9. 10, vista, and windows 7. All result in the same thing. Anyone have any tips or fixes that might work? Getting kind of annoyed :/

These crashes don't happen on a computer with an ati 3650 in it.

Network Adapter Stops Responding When Video Is Unplugged

I've setup an old sff dell sx280 as a downloader/htpc machine. It has intel 915g chipset, onboard everything. I put windows 7 ultimate 32bit on it, along with all the updates and drivers from windows update. For video it has a dvi-i connector. I'm using a dvi-hdmi adapter to connect to my receiver. I noticed when i unplug the hdmi cable, or change the receiver's input to something other than the computer, the computer's network adapter stops responding. It puts a an exclamation point over the icon in the system tray. This has turned into a royal pita for me, and i don't understand what's happening. Here is a little troubleshooting i have done:i connected the little y-cable that came with it, that gives me a dvi output and vga output. I attached the hdmi adapter to the dvi end of the cable, then hdmi to the receiver. Again, if the hdmi is unplugged, or input on the receiver changed, the network drops. I've used a cable that has hdmi on one end, and dvi on the other, and got the same results. On another computer, i did a "ping -t" in a command prompt to see when it stops responding, and it's exactly when i unplug the video. I also went into the adapter properties, and told it "not to disable this device to save power"
Using a vga cable to the tv, everything appears to work as intended. So it has something to do with the dvi/hdmi. I tried unplugging/replugging the lan cable, and windows still thinks the cable is disconnected, even though the link light is on, along with the activity light blinking. I've tried disabling/enabling in device manager, but no luck. It still thinks the cable is unplugged. So i'm out of ideas. Do you guys have any advice for me?

Nvidia Windows Kernel Mode Driver Stopped Responding

I just built this computer on monday, but i'm receiving numerous freeze-ups with the message "display driver nvidia windows kernel mode driver, version 191. 07 stopped responding. "

I'm also getting a few bsod's referencing nvlddmkm and sometimes the computer simply freezes up and i have to reboot. I googled these problems and found a lot of people are having the same/similar problems. However, there does not seem to be any real fix to it. In fact, ms blames nvidia and nvidia blames ms. Now, i can rule out the following "usual suspects":
- I have the latest nvidia drivers (although some people believe they are the problem)
- I have enough power
- I have enough ram
- It's cool enough (although i don't know what the exact gpu temp is)

I thought maybe the problem was with the video card because it is the only "old" hardware i used and i had had some problems with it in my old computer. At first i didn't have a powerful enough psu, and after i upgraded i still had problems (it would freeze up when i used any graphics intensive software (games, quicktime, etc)). So i thought maybe it was either a bad card or it got damaged in my last computer. But so many other people have the same/similar problems that maybe it isn't the card. So before i "solve" this problem by buying a radeon, does anyone now what the problem is or how to fix it?

My computer:
Antec nine hundred two case
Corsair hx750 psu
Msi p5-gd80 mobo
8 gb corsair dominator ram
Geforce 9600gt (with current drivers - 191. 07)
Windows 7 64-bit
