Loose Wire In Laptop Freezes Pc For Bits At A Time

A loose wire, i'm sure, is the culprit of the temporary freezes that hails over my presario 2800 laptop. Can anyone offer any suggestions/help?

I'm afraid by taking it to a computer repair shop that they may break it - whether it be an inexperienced mechanic working on the laptop for the 1st time and ultimately not degrounding when opening it up. I dont know too much about the mechanics but i've heard horror stories. Anyhow, has anyone had this ever happen to their laptop? Its a horrible thing to have to go through. I have to tap, shake, etc. The laptop to get it to unfreeze - just to have it happen again. I definately am sure that it is a loose wire. I even reinstalled xp to see if it was something with the operating system just in case, and just finished up with that. It is not the operating system. Definately a hardware issue.

From Time To Time Computer Freezes

I need help diagnosing what i believe is a hardware problem, since it happens with windows and linux. From time to time my computer freezes. I cannot move the mouse pointer and there is no reaction when i press a key on the keyboard. There is no bluescreen or any other error message. Also, it is not predicatble when the computer freezes. Sometimes i can work for hours without any problems and sometimes it freezes after 5 minutes. Generally, i noticed that it freezes earlier when i use windows instead of linux. Any idea what could be the problem or what i could do to diagnose it?

Computer Freezes On Boot - Long Time To Load Windows

I was having issues with a game of mine hard locking my pc. The only way to get out of it was to hold down the power button and force the pc to power down, then boot back up. Trying to trouble shoot the game, this happened several times. Then, it started freezing on the memory test. It's not really freezing, though - if i leave it sit for a very long time ( 5 to ten minutes ), it will eventually boot into windows. Any ideas?

Loose Wires

So in my case i have far too many loose wires. In fact, one of them apparently touched something inside the case, i think became grounded, and started to smoke. So i had to actually remove it. Yeah, i know, terrible! (I hope the pc isn't ruined, but if so, it's time for a new pc anyway, i guess. )

What is the best way to keep these suckers from touching anything or getting caught in fans? I saw someone with something like a "sock" over their wires, but i couldn't figure out what it was called. Or is electrical tape ok? Or is there something better?

30 Bits Output Over Hdmi Or Displayport

I am looking for a video card that supports 30bits (10bits/channel) output over hdmi or displayport. I know that video cards have been using 30bits ramdac for a long time. However, in practice it seems a bit more complicated. Cheaper is better. I have no specific requirements in terms of 3d performances. (Even if i would appreciate to keep the performances level of my current radeon hd 4850. )

Keyboard - Reroute The Wire

Im thinking about getting a new keyboard. Right now im using a wireless apple keyboard (thin aluminum kind) i need something small but comfortable. I have had two of the microsoft ergonomic 4000 both ended up with some kind of problem. They were comfortable but it was huge and took a lot of space. I would like something illuminated. The "gaming" line up of logitech takes a lot of desk space. Also im used to using wireless. Are there any wired keyboard that let you reroute the wire so that it comes out towards the bottom near the space bar so that it can be rerouted under the desk? So i don't know if im asking to much or if this even exist. Any recommendations?

Laptop Beeps Once Then Freezes If Lightly Tapped

Just wondering if anyone has come upon this problem before and has any solutions. I have a laptop that's a good 3 or 4 years old (maybe more) that still works great (other than the screen which flickers or fades if i don't position the hinge correctly). Occasionally, the vent/cooling fan gets clogged with dirt, causing it to shut off, so i've opened it up and cleaned it a few times to get it back to working order. Recently, my laptop freezes when (very) lightly tapped. It'll make one short beep then freeze.could this also be an overheating issue? Or is it simply time to replace it? Its a shame, since the laptop is still decent given its age, i'd hate to see it go to waste. Any advice is appreciated, thanks!

Use Wire Of Mouse To Extend Keyboard Cord Length

I have an old ps2 mouse and my current keyboard. I cut the wire off of the mouse and i am thinking of using that to extend my keyboards cord length. Would just a simple little game of matching the colors and twisting the wires together do the trick? I am asking this because for some reason, the mouse's cable is thinner than the keyboard's cable.

It wont make it past the setup screen sometimes i cant even use it half the time unless i manually, by pushing and holding the power button about 5 times, but the freezes once the desktop screen appears. I think it may be a bad hard drive, but before i spend any money id like to be sure.

Games Freeze All The Time

. And they do that since graphics card update. First, there was the radeon x600. It died. So i needed a new card. Was a radeon hd 2600. Installed new drivers, even reinstalled windows. Games began to freeze after a couple minutes, the only game playable was rollercoaster tycoon 2. Some time later i bought a radeon hd 3850. And again, reinstalled windows and added the latest drivers. And again! No game playable. They all work fine for about ten minutes, and then freeze. It can not be the temps as they don't go over 90 degrees, wich, according to ati ccc, is in normal range. It can not be the psu either, since its rather new and powerful enough. So what else could it be?

I thought about the mainboard, a msi ms-7046, quite some years old.could it be that it doesn't "like" the new graphics card, since its an oem-mainboard? Or that it simply is too old? Or what the fudge else.

Computer Dies When I Switch It On First Time

Every time i switch my computer on with the big button on the front of the tower, you hear the discs start up for a second or so, but then it dies. The little green light on the front stays on. If i press the big button to try to start her up again, nothing happens. I also get nothing if i press the little button that can usually be used to reboot the thing. If i switch it off and on at the back and then press the big button again, everything starts ok. It's been like this for about a week. What exactly is the problem and how do i fix it?

Pc Takes A Long Time To Boot Up

First: it takes from 20 minutes to 2 hours to boot up, i don't see anything in the monitor, but the fan in the power supply spins and the fan at top of the processor also works, only the red light of the hard disk turns on. I have tried with another hard disk that works fine in another pc, and it's the same, it takes forever to boot up. I have replace the power supply from 250 to 450 and i still have that problem. Second: after waiting that long for the pc to boot up, the cpu clock speed reads 733 mhz instead of 1700. I reset the jumper in the motherboard, to get the correct speed, but i have to do this everytime the computer has been off for a while. Are the two problems related? Is the motherboard bad? Once the pc boot ups, it works fine.
