Hdd Blinking Once Per Second

Seems like i could get a premature hd failure if this goes on for a few years!

Transfer Data Including Windows Xp From Old Hdd To New Hdd
Im getting a new 250gig sataii hard drive, with 16mb cache. Just like to know if there is any simple way of transferring all my old stuff on the current drive onto this new drive without too much trouble. Like is there a way of transferring the whole os (windows xp), all the progs and stuff onto this new hdd through an image or in an easy way?

Screen Blinking For No Reason
All of a sudden for no reason (no matter what am i doing surfing, watching movies, or just idle) the screen blinks (like when installing the display drivers for the first time) for about a second or two and then comes back up. At times it may not even occur. At first i thought the cable was at fault. I replaced the vga cable yet it resurfaced. There is no such behavior from the onboard display, hence i thought the card was at fault i rma'ed it twice. Later i upgraded my card from xfx 9800 gt to xfx 4850 xxx edition. Yet even after using two different chipsets the problem remains. Now for the sake of troubleshooting what else could be faulty here:
1)gpu is overheating, thats not the case, it idles at 45c and goes upto 65 max
1) the monitor. But it works fine from onboard display. So can't really say that's the culprit
2) the psu, assuming the psu was faulty, it would have been much severe case coz there is no bsod, freezing, restarts which could suggest its at fault. 3) i have changed 3 gfx cards. So can't really say this third one is faulty. Now the only doubt remains that
All this while i am using a pci 2. 0 card on a 1. 0 motherboard. But i have seen many using it flawlessly and that shouldn't really be a problem. I am using an antec ea 430 whereas the recommended psu is 450 but in reality my system is never using more than 315 watts ( as per antec's psu calculator with 30% capacitor ageing)the psu is 10 months old. Other than the above said issue. Everything works fine, so i can't really figure whats causing the screen to go blank for a few seconds and come back up.

Monitor Keeps Blinking To Black
I'm using fedora 10, nvidia legacy drivers, twinview dual monitor setup. My left monitor keeps blinking to black. My right monitor is behaving 100% perfectly. This just started today (or at least today's the first time i ever noticed it. Sometimes it'll go minutes without blinking and something it'll blink three times in 3 seconds. I swapped out the vga cable and it's still happening. I also dusted out my computer today, so it's not dust on the graphics card. How can i figure out if it's happening because of the drivers? Or some kernel upgrade or something like that. Of course, i still have to try another monitor in its place to see if it's the monitor. To be clear, the power isn't going off, the screen just turns black and my right monitor somewhat blinks as if linux is saying - switch to just using this monitor. Then it goes back to displaying what it should be.

Laptop Hdd To Desktop Hdd
I have a toshiba laptop hdd (numbers on the disk are hdd2616 & mk2101man) which as far as i'm aware works. Needless to say i no longer have the laptop. I need to get all the data off and was hoping there was a usb solution. Can anybody help?

4870 Screen Blinking In Vista 64
I know this is an old issue, but i assumed it was resolved at this point or maybe pointing to another issue. It seems that since moving to vista 64, whatever ati gpu i use, the screen would intermittently start to blink. When i used a gtx260, i had no such problem. I have used 2 different 3870s, a 4850 and now a 4870. Is anyone else experiencing this? I'm sure this is more than a driver issue. Should i just go back to nvidia?

Pc Error - Hangs On Blinking Cursor
Pc with windows xp installed. When i boot up the pc the bios selection pops up (which is the only way to get to the boot menu as f8 alone wont work) after the short routine (hardware check?) It hangs on a black screen with a blinking cursor in the upper left hand corner of the screen. I can hit "del" to enter set-up at which point pressing f8 will load the boot menu with the available options being:
Floppy, cdrom and hdd. None of these options work. I tried putting in the xp cd and booting the cd, it loads all the necessary components and just before starting up windows it blue screens (and says that a hardware error has occured and that it has shut down to prevent damage). On startup it reads "hard disk is not detected", but this has not prevented my computer from working in the past. I haven't ventured much into the bios for fear of destroying everything (but i did change the boot priority menu from floppy/hdd/cd to floppy/cd/hdd). This has changed nothing and running the xp cd still has the same effect.

My computer monitor wont come on and the green light is blinking. I connected it to my laptop and nothing?
Answer:-
Unless your laptop isn't configured to output the video on the vga/dvi ports and if you have already tried the monitor on a known-good (working) desktop computer, then the monitor is probably already busted.

Why wont my hp deskjet 5150 printer wont print? I don't know what little orange down arrow means. But now it won't print and there is paper still in there! And i don't think i'm out of ink cause only the arrow is blinking. Answer:- if the printer arrow orange light blinks, that may be for the following reasons:

Blinking Cursor In The Upper Left Corner
I have a c840 dell laptop and when i turn it on the screen lights up and there a blinking cursor in the upper left corner. It never gets to the dell screen and doesn't seem to do much. It does check the dvd drive a few times, but then it just sits there. If i hold down the f12 key and press the power button, it flashes the battery light like the battery is dead, and does nothing else. But when i let go of the f12 key all of the systems fans spin up for a second then the laptop goes quiet. I'm just wondering if anyone has any ideas where to start. I'm hopeing the laptop is not dead (the fact that it comes up at all is encouraging). I am free to take the system apart if need be. I have tried pulling the battery out and letting it sit for a while. No change. Any and all ideas are welcome. I see this is in the wrong section at the moment.

I bought yesterday another motherboard p4s800 and it is okey. It works. By the way i just installed new motherboard instead of old one. On case battery shape under reset button is blinking as red. Can it be older motherboard's battery empty or related?Wyh my new motherboard is blinking red buttery shape?

Trying to uipgrade windows from 95 to 98 i reformatted my hard drive and did other things i didn't know i was doing. Result: when i turn the computer on i get nothing except a black screen with a blinking cursor line. My hard drive recognizes nothing. Is there anything i can do to save the hard drive? My laptop started blinking. It goes black screen for about 5 secs or more, then comes back on. My laptop is running on vista. I'm currently playing two online games. Red cliff and celestial destroyer(cd). When i downloaded red cliff in dec 2009 nothing happened. But when i downloaded cd two days ago my com starting blinking and lagging. The blinking takes place almost every 3 secs. I thought it was a problem with cd but its affecting my red cliff game as well. Can anyone help?

My keyboard and mouse quit working, and the led lights on the board started blinking in sequence: num-cap-scr and back. I tried another keyboard and the same thing happened. Of course, i can't shut down or type, or anything. Has the port gone bad? Is this a motherboard issue?

I just formatted pc with a xp pro dis w/ sp1 then i installed teh cd with sp2 and it ddint work my comp keeps restart and now whenever i boot it up the screen that shows ur spec with the f8 or f12 loads, it takes me to a blank screen, black, and in the top left corner there is a hyphen( _ ) that keeps blinking, this keeps happenin when i turn it off den back on or restarting, i just built this comp all together yesterday and keep gettin these errors my first build was fine what is the problem?

Media Center Is Blinking On Xfx Geforce 9300
I have xfx geforce 9300 intel 775 ddr2 motherboard. I have installed there windows 7 professional. It contains default nvidia drivers set for that mother board. Mediaplayer and media center are blinking there in full screen mode. Windows works very and very slow that time. Also primary crt monitor become black when media center in full screen mode. Dell 1320c Printer Error Blinking Orange
My dell 1320c printer has an orange blinking error. It has an orange paper jam and "!" Symbol blinking. I checked for paper jams but none to be found. Really cant figure out what the problems can be. I was told to try cleaning the printer heads at one point so i did, no difference in the outcome.

Toshiba a135 won't stay on (blinking power supply light). I have a toshiba a135. I always left the charger plugged in, which drained the battery (down to 7 min total battery life). It always worked fine when plugged in. When the original charger stopped working, i just bought one with the correct tip, b/c the box said it was compatible with toshiba. It was a kensington 80w charger. That charger has since stopped working. It made a continuous beeping noise when plugged in and its light would also stay off, but those were problems with the charger. B/c this charger stopped working and the battery was useless, i bought another charger, a toshiba one, with what the guy at the store said was the correct wattage (90w). Now with the new charger the laptop started fine. It would not stay on, however. It would turn on, and at some point soon after it would turn off. When it does turn off, the power supply light is blue and blinking (none of the other lights are on), and the computer is unable to turn on at this moment. The laptop will turn back on if the battery is taken out and put back in, which makes the power supply light blue and the battery light orange (how it is when it is uncharged). It will stay on for a short period, then shut off again. I have a few questions concerning this:
-Does using a power adapter with the wrong wattage have permanent effects on a laptop/its battery?
-What does the blinking power supply light mean? And why does it stop blinking after the battery is put back in again?
-How do i fix the problem of my laptop continually turning off?

Win 2000 Not Boot, Blinking Cursor At Top Of Screen
I redently did a fresh install of win 2000 onto a machine and it worked great for a day. Later i turned the machine on and it wouldn't boot into 2000. It goes through the post, then the screen turns black with nothing on it but a white blinking cursor at the very top. This blinks a few times then moves down one line then disappears, then nothing. I booted from cd and tried a repar installation but the setup told me that it couldn't find any instances of win 2000 installed. So i retstarted and went to repair again, this time using the repair console so that i could look at the contents of the hard drive and everything is there, win 2000 and all. Has anyone ever seen this and know of a fix?

Red Led Which Represents Hard Disk Usage Stops Blinking
All of a sudden the red led which represents hardisk usage stops blinking once it gets past the mother board display and etc (you know at the start where it says bla bla is slave drive and etc. ) So even in dos it doesnt light up. Why would this be.

Combine Two Hdd Into One
I have a primary 40gb hdd and second 40gb hdd. Is there any way to partition my second hdd to add it to my primary. What i mean is to combine the two hdd to become 80gb as a whole.

Hdd Failing
So unfortunately i'm thinking one of my hd's might be failing so i was looking to see if you guys had any ideas. Basically i was just coding up some script and when i hit save my comp locked up. (I wasn't save or writing to this particular hd at the time) and i hear this high pitched tone come out of my speakers (not my system speaker). I went ahead and restarted the machine and as it was booting up it seems to take a long time at a black screen in between the windows bootscreen loading bar and the windows login. Eventually it loads and i sign in and the drive no longer shows up like it used to. Essentially, here's what my hd list now looks like:
Server (_stuff_) (v:)
Server (_stuff_) (w:)
Server (_stuff_) (x:)
Local disk (y:)
Server (_stuff_) (z:)
Ontop of it showing up like that i can't open the drive. If i even so much as right click on that drive explorer locks and i have to end-task and relaunch it. Also, i went ahead and ran a s. M. A. R. T. Checker on it and although the results mean nothing to me (im not sure what to look for) the status of everything seems to be fine: lastly everything seems to look fine when i do a chkdsk on the drive as well: i dont really know what else to do except wipe it and try to use it but i'd like to avoid that option as i have 400gb of stuff on it. That being said, any ideas?

The user has a dell dimension 8200, with xp home. There is only one hd in the system, it is set as a master. The motherboard that i replaced had gotten fried. The reasoning behind why i think that is because the bios would not find either the cdrom or hd; both of which were connected to different ide slots. So i replaced the board, and the bios finds the cd-rom, but not the hd. I tested the hd in another machine and it works fine. I have tested the ide cable i'm using, as well as the molex plug providing power, both work fine. The psu is fine. I uninstalled all unnecessary devices, and still no luck. The bios detects it as an unknown device. I tried loading wd datalifeguard tools, but it can't read the drive either. The last thing i can think of is flashing the bios, which i'm not wanting to do. It seems as though the bios doesn't know where to look for the drive, or it's not obtaining the proper i/o address or dma channel?

Xbox Hdd
Ok so my friend took the western digital 8gb out of his xbox, and he gave it to me. I want to use it as an extra slave for music, and no matter now i set the jumpers or which spot i set it on the ide cable it will not show up. I also tried it as a master and putting an os on it, no go, still won't work. Does anyone know why the hdd won't work ? Does microsoft do something to them to make them only function in an xbox?
Ok i have the enermax temp & fan controller for my 3 1/2 bay, and whenever i turn my fans up on my vantec nexus the alarm goes off on the evermax that the other fan speeds are dropping, even though i have no fans connected to the enermax ctrl. What could cause this? Only thing i could think of is they are on the same line from the psu and when i increase voltage on one the other looses? I'm going to disassemble tomorrow or next week to check out the situation. Last q is about bf1942. When it opens and the 1st ea screen comes up the sounds is crackling like a mofo and its choppy, its like that all the way to the main menu. Then when i join a server and it loads everything is smooth as skilk. Anyone know why?
