Game Skipping When Played On Dual Monitor Setup

So i recently went dual 22 and one monitor would be the game and the secondary monitor would just show the extended desktop. The problem is, when i am gaming with the dual screen, every game i would play would have this skipping effect. Every 2 seconds my movements in cs source or wc3 frozen throne would skip and it gets quite annoying. I tried gaming on just one single monitor and the problem disappeared. Wondering if anyone ever had similar issues on resolving this problem? Card currently used is evga gtx 260

Dual Monitor Setup With 4850

First time ever doing a dual monitor setup. I have a 28" hanns g and a 47" 1080p vizio. I want to use my 28" monitor as my main but be able to switch over to my hdtv easily (i don't need to use both at the same time). But when i plug in my hdtv, it forces my monitor to 1080 resolution. Also for some reason my hdtv mimics the borders my monitor has in 1080 resolution instead of displaying in full screen. Is there a way to get these to display right without have to unplug the other whenever i switch displays?

Why Dual Monitor Setup Not Working ?

Just added a a new video card (geforce 9500gt) into one of my vacant pci slots so i could hook up another monitor. (I had only one vga connection with my on-board graphics. ) Anyway, it didn't work. The original monitor (vga) only displays the no video message and the light on the monitor continuously blinks, it is not showing up in device manager (using winxp) and in the control panel for display settings it only shows one monitor. I know for a fact the monitor is good. I tested it on another computer. The new card works great as my 2nd monitor is connected to the new card (dvi) and it is the one i am using now. I though it was an issue of compatibility, but when i borrowed another monitor with dvi input to use the same card(the new card has 2 dvi ports), the same thing happened only one showed up and only one worked. In the control panel under display settings, it used to show an option for a second monitor, i never had one so that was grayed out, now with them both hooked up there is no option for a second display, it isn't even grayed out. It only shows one display. I even updated the drivers. I am hoping there is something in the bios that i have to change to make it recognize that i have 2 monitors now. Otherwise i am thinking it is an issue related to my 300w power supply. If it is my psu, i am looking for some advice on how i can upgrade it. Like specifically how much power do i need for my setup? What do i look for in terms of compatibility? If you need more about my configuration, i have enclosed an address that will list my original specifications. (I have upgraded the ram to 3gb and have changed the optical drives to 2 dual layer dvd light scribe drives. )

S-video Resolution On Dual Monitor Setup

I have an inno3d nvidia geforce4 ti4200 (agp 8x , 128mb ddr). It has a vga port and an s-video output, but no digital output. I'm considering buying an lcd/tv monitor (as a second monitor) and using the s-video connection to setup a dual monitor system. My concern is resolution when using s-video. The inno3d website says:

Optional tv-output support 1024x768 / 800 x 600 resolution

What do you guys think? Will i get a crisp 800 x 600 resolution using s-video input (assuming that the lcd/tv is decent)?

Also, i'm using windows 2000. Will i need to upgrade to xp in order to get dual monitor functionality?

Dual Monitor - Watch A Movie And Play Game At Same Time

I was wondering if there was any way for me to be able to play a full screen game like counterstrike source, and watch a movie with an s-video plug on my tv at the same time. I tried it and when the game loads on my main monitor while the movie is running on my tv, the movie re-adjusts itself and doesn't fit onto the tv correctly (a part of the video is cut off). Am i doing something wrong, or is it not even possible to do this?

System specs are:

Athlon xp 3200+
1gb pc 3200 ram
Radeon 9800 pro video card.

Ati Radeon 9550 256mb Dual Monitor Setup

I have a sis motherboard that has only 1 agp slot, and 3 pci slots. I have 2 agp cards (one is currently installed, other sitting in a box), it's an ati radeon 9550 256 mb card with 2 plugs on the back (one monitor is plugged in and running), not sure if they are dvi or vga, but i think my current monitor is plugged into the vga. What i want to know is, do i absolutely have to have 2 video cards? If so, i only have one agp slot, what do i have to buy?

Can i use an adapter to plug the 2nd monitor into the dvi?

Any way to use the original monitor plug with one, and leave the other with my ati?

Dual Screen Affecting Game Performance

For the past few years i've been running 2 screens on my ti4200. Worked great, andon my new rig, i'm probably going to three screens, but more on that later. I've always had the feeling that the 2nd monitor had an impact on theti4200's performance in games (aside from the fact that it was seriously bottlenecked by my agp 4x bus). My question, does anyone have any experience with this? Is it actually true or is it simply another myth? Reason i'm asking is, that in my new rig there'll be probably be two cards: a 7900gt and this one. My primary screen will obviously go to the 7900gt, my question is what to do with the other two. Since they are both only meant for desktop work, they don't need the 7900 gt's power, and would be served fine by the matrox. And if there's any truth in the earlier mentioned myth, this would improve my performance a bit. Why do i have the feeling i answered my own question?

Run Dual Monitors With An Sli Setup

I'm interested in knowing if one can run dual monitors with an sli setup, one monitor for the game and one for desktop to monitor and manipulate teamspeak/gameserverclient/etc. For some reason i thought one couldn't. About 3 years ago i recall a conversation that an sli rig precluded the use of a second monitor. Maybe that was so back then but is that the case now?

Dual Monitor, Dual Gpu Questions

I have been looking around for info about running two monitors on either sli or crossfirex and found conflicting opinions + old sources and i need a little bit of clarification. You must be able to run two monitors on either technology, it would be ridiculous if you couldn't. But does it matter where you plug the screens in? Do they assign a primary card and you plug only into that one?

Also what happens when you enter a 3d full-screen application on either setup, does the second screen go black or does it stay on?

2. Can i assign which audio goes to whichever sound card/speaker?
3. Do i need to get two speakers (one for each monitor)?
4. Do i need to get two sound cards (one for each ld monitor)?

Is One Game Windowed On Each Monitor Possible ?

I frequently play eve-online with 2 accounts running, one on each monitor without issue. There is a way to select between 2 display adapters in game settings (even though i only have one gfx card). My monitors are 1920x1200 and a smaller one which is 1440x900. I normally play at 1680x1050 on the bigger one and 1360x768 on the smaller one. I'm trying to get eve on one monitor and hon on the other but, when i drag hon to my second monitor eve becomes very choppy. It's fine if i leave them both on the same monitor. Is there a way to have each game on a separate monitor?

Which Monitor Setup For Eyefinity ?

I'm having a hard time making my decision on which monitor setup i want to use for eyefinity. I have around $1500 or so to spend on them. Here are the two setups i was thinking:

5x ea231wmi in portrait mode resolution of 5400x1920

Pros:

Huge amount a pixels and a huge wow factor
Appears to have smaller bezels

Cons:

Have to get use to portrait mode (no big deal)
Tons of bezels, although i heard they disapear when playing
Have to wait for the 5870*6 (already have a 5870, hoping they will work together in cf)

Or

3x hp lp2475w in landscape mode 5760x1200

Pros:

Less bezels
Still a lot of pixels
Could eventually get two more
Already have a 5870 so there is no waiting on the 6 output card

Cons:

Non that i can think of, less pixels

Here is my system if needed:

I7 920 @ 4. 5
Dominator gt @ 1700
5870 stock clocs
Corsair 1000w psu
Vertex turbo ssd. I'm definitely having a hard time making my decision. I keep going back and forth. Having never seen eyefinity in person i'm not sure how great portrait mode would be. Either way i'm going to have to buy a second video card to push these pixels (once its supported).

Three (3) Monitor Setup Questions

I see ati has a new card out that supports 3 screens. I currently have 260's in sli on my 42" 1080p lcd and i enjoy it very much. But i think running 3 screens side by side might be pretty sweet for gaming. Right now my 42" is awesome (size) for gaming and don't want to go smaller in size but would love to have 2560x1600 on a single screen desktop resolution. So i was thinking of going with 3 30' screens. Would you just run them all side by side? That seems like it may be to wide? Most current games able to run across all 3 screens without issue? Also a little concerned on enough video card power to run 3 30" screens. Thoughts/suggestions?

Triple-monitor Setup - Eyefinity ?

Just curious. I'm sort've interested in the idea of having a triple-monitor setup, with the desktop spanning across all-three monitors (i.e. Each monitor is not the same image). What's the best way to do this?

I was looking at some of the newer radeons, and i saw that on the 5870, for example, it has four outputs. So if i just had two monitors plugged in via dvi and a third monitor plugged in via hdmi, would that work? Just like that? I'd be interested in trying to play some games in this configuration, spanning all three monitors. Would something like a 5870 be able to drive a game in 5760x1200 like that, or would i need more than one of them?

Do the nvidia cards let you do this also? Or is just an "eyefinity" thing that would be exclusive to the ati cards?

Emachines - Multi Monitor Setup

So i have a client that has an emachines w3611. He wants to set up at least 6 monitors on this computer. I am trying to figure out the best way to do it. Right now he has a pci-e video card that now has 2 monitors running on it. There are 2 pci slots available, and i am looking to possibly fill those with some dual vga/dvi cards to allow for additional monitors. Anyone see any problem with that? This client will not be doing any gaming, this is mostly for stock trading.

Which Card For A Triple Monitor Setup ?

Which card for a triple monitor setup? Triple 1650 x 1050 in portrait mode? I have been doing a lot of research the past couple of days and i feel like a kid at a candy store again. Living in my cave, i have just learned about eyefinity technology and can't wait to try it. I already have (2) dell 2005fpws and am getting a third one today. They are older ips panels that i bought for $700 each back in the day, but am ecstatic my coworker is selling me his for $75!

Anyways, what gpu would it take to run all (3) monitors in portrait mode? Since the native resolution is 1650x1050, would the new resolution required be 3150x1650? I only enjoy strategy games like age of empires and star craft, so i don't think i need a really beefy gpu. I was thinking a 5750 or 5770 should do the trick. Here are the specs of my pc:q9550 oc'd to 4. 0ghz

Corsair hx620w
Gigabyte ud3r
4gb of g. Skill ram

Second Display In Dual Display Setup Has Stopped Working

I have a pc with dual monitors. Both monitors worked fine for a year, but one day the second display stopped working, and the second monitor. Itís an intel based system with pci-e ati hd2600 video card with dual dvi out. Monitors are both identical acer 22 inch lcds. The issue is that monitor a shows a proper display, but monitor b is blank and goes into power save mode. If i switch monitor a with monitor b, same result. Hence, both monitors are in working condition. If i swap dvi cable a with dvi cable b, same result. Hence, both dvi cable are in working condition. Iíve tried replacing the video card with a new pci-e card of a different brand. Same result. Hence the video card is not broke. If i only plug one monitor into the video cardís dvi output a, itíll work. If i only plug one monitor into the video cardís dvi output b, itíll work. Hence, both dvi outputs on the video card work, just not at the same time. Issue occurs the same during post, as well as in windows and ubuntu. Itís not a driver issue. Iíve tried updating the drivers. Iím not sure what this could be.

Monitor / Receiver Setup Under $400-$600

I am not knowledgeable when it comes to computer audio equipment. I have a little cash to spend on a decent setup, $1200 (changed budget, was $600). Of course, i'm willing to bump up that budget if needed, based on your recommendations. I really don't know what to get, but i know what i want. I would like some quality monitor speakers (m-audio looks great) and any other audio hardware that will allow me to listen to music at the highest quality possible, based on my budget. I game a bit, listen to tons of music and dabble with sound when editing my videos. One thing that must go away is the hissing and static in the background. I'm used to having mid-level pc speaker setups, but nothing near high-end. I prefer 2 speaker setups, as i am limited on room. I want something that not only sounds great, but also looks classy and clean when displayed on my desk. I don't know if i need a receiver or not. Can i use my onboard audio out? I've seen a lot of folks with large receivers in their computer setups (and they look great), but i am hoping for something a little bit smaller if you do recommend one. Maybe for some future expansion?

Also, do i need any adapter cables to connect to the receiver/speakers from my pc? My new motherboard supports 10 channel audio with 7. 1+2 channel multi-streaming. Here's a pic:

I don't know if it's best to use the optical out or the separate audio out. I leave that to you, the audio pro's. Any input and advice would be greatly appreciated!

2 Video Cards In One Computer - 3 Monitor Setup

I currently have nvidia geforce 7300 (i think - it's a few years old) inside my computer;
I'm running two monitors off of it (22" and 19") - one via the dvi slot, and one through vga. Clarification:

** I have asus p6t motherbord, which has 2 pci express slots
** Current cpu is 500w; and already running a good amount of stuff from it:

Intel i7 920
9gb ddr3 ram spread over 6 dimms
6 sata hard drives

Pretty much, i'm looking for the best mid-range card that my power configuration can handle. I will be taking delivery of two 24" dell ultrasharps tomorrow. I was thinking of adding another video card, so that i can plug in the ultrasharps into the dvi slots of the respective video cards, and plug in the 3rd monitor into a vga slot. Are there any flaws in my logic?

I was looking at picking up something basic like the:-

http://www.Canadacomputers.com/index.php?Do=showproduct&cmd=pd&pid=026416&cid=vdc. 243. 390

I do not game so no real need for a high priority video card; however, with starcraft ii and diablo iii on the horizon, i wouldn't mind checking those out; so something with a little bit of room to grow would be nice. Any advice mucho appreciated.

Three Monitor Setup Using Ati Card And Nvidia Onboard

I recently acquired a pair of old del 2000fp's ($15 apiece, working, minus power adapter), and would like to add one (or both!) Of them to my current setup (20" widescreen and a 17" 4:3). I have a radeon hd3850 in a biostar 7025-m2 mobo (geforce 7025 graphics onboard). If it's possible, i'd like to run one of my new monitors off the onboard graphics, and the existing two off the hd3850. I seem to recall a while back that the drivers from ati and nvidia wouldn't play well together-is that still the case? Is it possible to run monitors off both at the same time?

Best Sli Setup / 30 Inch Monitor / Psu Questions

I am about to buy a new computer, that includes a dell 3008wfp. My budget is 3000$ and buying that monitor leaves me with ~1700 (assuming i buy the monitor refurbished). I have a few questions regarding some of the components. Cpu: intel i7 920
Motherboard: asus p6t
Memory: ocz platinum triple-channel kit 2gb/stick pc3 10666
Hard drives: ocz apex 60gb ssd wd 640gb 7200 rpm 32mb cache
Graphics card(s): 2 bfg geforce gtx 280 ocx edition in sli
Psu: corsair 850tx 850w

Since i am running this on a 30 inch monitor, i wanted something powerful enough to support 2560x1600. Since the gtx 295 seems to be at its eol (it is not being sold anywhere) i decided to go with the gtx 280s in sli for now. First question - do you think the gtx 280s in sli are best? I am pretty partial to nvidia but it seems that 4890s in crossfire performs just as well and are cheaper. Second question - dell 3007wfp-hc or dell 3008wfp? The cheaper the better, but i do not want to risk major loss in performance for price. After reading the hardocp thread about this exact same question (listed here) i am still somewhat confused. The 3008 has more inputs and a onboard scalar. Having this scalar allows you to read a lot more resolutions regardless of what resolution may be coming in (because the scalar scales the resolution coming in)? In the case of the 3007, not having this scalar means that sending a resolution to the 3007 that it does not support will not work? This is a very important question to me, because if i were to buy the 3008, the only way it would work, is if i were to buy it refurbished, and even then i would still break 3000. Third question - am i pushing it too close with running a 850w psu with the gtx 280 sli setup?

Quad Monitor Setup With 7300 Gs Video Cards

We're looking to upgrade a workstation here from a dual monitor setup to a quad-monitor setup running 4 x 22" lcds. The current system in question is a 939 4200+ (neo-f platinum) with a 7300gs running 2x19 lcd monitors. From a cpu/video standpoint, the system is still adequate and the 7300gs runs 2 monitors just fine. We're a small engineering company who runs basic autocad 2d, lightweight design programs, word, excel. Etc. Certainly nothing that requires high-end graphics. However, we're looking to upgrade the monitors to 4x22" lcds each running native at 1650x1080. This would require an additional pci-e 1x or pci video card. The mb has a pci-e 16x, 4x, and 1x slot. Looking at pci-e 1x cards, all i'm seeing is the quadro series. Ultimately, i'll probably upgrade the primary 16x card to the quadro fx370 and use the nvs290 in the 1x slot as the secondary card. Probably somewhat overkill and it's an additional $300 cost. 1) would it be possible to power monitors 3 and 4 at 1650x1080 with a pci card?

2) could a 16x pci-e card be used in the 4x slot? I've read that the open-ended 4x slot on the neo-f can support a 16x, but at a lower bandwidth. 3) ultimately, i'd like to use 2 consumer-level cards. Ati or nvidia - doesn't really matter. Is this possible?

Skipping Sound

Recently i've been getting skipping sound every now and again on my computer, checked the sound cables, all fine, doesn't do it when i plug my ipod in to the speakers either. So has to be the computer. I've had this before and i just installed windows on a different drive since i ran tests and all the drives seemed fine one or two had a bad-sector which i just repaired. I used speed-fans on-line analysis and it said some of my drives had things to "watch"

Power on hour count, power cycle count
Ultra dma crc error rate
Offline seek performance
Hardware ecc recovered
Seek error rate
Reported uncorrectable errors
Ta increase count. Not all of them on 1 drive. 4 drives had a bunch of those, some only 3 one had 6. So im thinking it might be a hard drive thing, or could it be some sort of software problem?

Thoughts?
