Im trying to do as i said in my question but when i use factory restore image thing in the repair mode nothing comes up and i want to restore it, also i don't have the disk and i have a dell dimension e520 i got windows 7 installed later in time. Can any one help me with my problem i know how to do it but you can it wont let me.

Last year i went on the crucial and dell sites and it said that my max memory was 1gb per slot. 4 slots, so that's 4 gb. I went on the website again tonight and now it claims that i can have 2gb per slot. I know my 32 bit operating system will only utilize 3. 5gb, but is it telling me that i can have 2gb per slot now? Disregard the bus speed. Anyway, i know how to use google, so people who actually own an e520, please respond.

Dell Dimension E520 Ram Upgrade
How to upgrade ram on a dell dimension e520? Ok so i have the sims 3 but it keeps crashing. I had a look on the box and it said "vista: 1. 5gb ram minimum" i had a look and i have exactly 1021. 3mb of ram at the moment. Everything else checks out so i am just assuming i don't have enough ram. First of all, is this the problem that is causing the sims 3 to crash or something else?
If it is then how do i install it (i hear it is pretty easy but i don't want to touch something and have my computer, explode or something lol) a picture or two would be nice. How much ram would you recommend (budget would be like $150 - $200 if i really have to).

Answer:- no. According to the dell website, your computer only has a 305w power supply. A gtx 480 requires allot of power, all most double a regular graphics card. But other than that it should work fine. You will need at least a 650w power supply to run this graphics card, but i would recommend getting something a bit higher, 800w preferably. Buy why do you want to get this card? You're computer is not that great to begin with, only duo core/pentium. This graphics card is way to powerful and everything else in your system will end up bottlenecking it. Don't waste your money on a $500 card when your computer isn't even worth that much. I would recommend getting a xfx hd 5770 1gb, even this might be a little over powerful for your computer. But once again you'll have to upgrade the power supply to at least 450w, preferably 650w.

Restoring windows xp to factory settings on a dell desktop. My family's desktop computer is riddled with viruses, so need to restore it to factory settings. All data backed up. With my old laptop i did the restoring thing a couple of times - in start up mode you press f11 i believe? But that was a sony, does that still work with dell?

Dimension E520 Cpu Upgrade
I'm upgrading a client's dell e520 from a pentium d 820 to a pentium e6600 dual-core cpu. With the e6600 cpu installed, i get no post screen at all, and the monitor light blinks. Both fans (psu & cpu) come on and the hard drive spins up. The main front panel power light shows steady green and the front panel diagnostic lights show 1, 3 and 4. To shut down i have to hold the power button in for 4-6 secs (rather than just pressing it). All my research insists that the e6600 is compatible with the dell e520, and it's my understanding that the motherboard should automatically adjust from the old 800mhz to the new 1066mhz fsb speed. I'm using the original 305w psu. I have updated the bios from 1. X to 2. 4. 0. I have tried reverting a ram upgrade from 2x2gb 800mhz (which works with the pentium d cpu) to the original 2x512mb 533mhz. I've tried removing the battery for 15 minutes as well as shorting the clrbios jumper. I've tried reseating the cpu, the ram and the power leads. Every time i insert the pentium d it works, but i have yet to get anything out of the e6600. I work at a static-free workstation and am using good quality thermal paste with the original heatsink assembly.

I pulled out the air card while the computer was on and i'm wondering if i screwed something up. Everything seems to work fine except i cannot get onto the internet directly. I tried all the basic fixes like shutting down the cable modem and router and putting them back on. My laptop connects fine and the ethernet cable is fine. I tried repairing it going through network connections and that did nothing.

One manual for an asus m50 series says that you need to press the f9 key at bootup and follow instructions, though this may not work with your particular model. I'd consider booting off of a live linux cd like 'puppy linux', then use a usb drive to backup any important documents on the hard drive before 'restoring' the operating system.

I have been advised by some of my friends to restore my laptop back to the factory settings, and in this way i could get rid of the virus. How To Connect To Internet After Reset Computer Back To Factory Settings?
I just reset my computer in my bedroom back to factory settings and im trying to connect the internet and i cant figure out how. I do the thing on the control panel, network, wizard, and all that stuff and nothing happened. The computer im on now is on wifi but my bedrooms computer's wifi card (or something) is broken, or thats what the at&t internet dude told me. So i run my computer's internet over a usb cable and that worked fine but now i cant create a connection and i don't want to have to make my mom call at&t and all that stuff for a guy to come out to our house.

Dell E520 - Geforce 8800
I made a post a few days ago about my upcoming adventures with a dell dimension e520 and a geforce 8800gts. Well, after getting my new card in the mail today, here's the results :
I opened my case to see what i was going to have to do. Right after i opened it, i took a look at the situation. First thing i noticed was that the card's ventilation was going to have to have an opening. Second, was that the fan shroud was going to be in the way. Third? I wish i had a dreamed kit. Would have made this into a 1 hour ordeal. This will void your warranty. You will be removing a piece of the case, a screw from the 8800, and a part of the fan shroud and mount. If you're still interested, read on! This is not sanctioned by dell!
1 - first of all, i popped the case open and took a look. I tried slipping in the 8800 as it was to see what had to be changed. 1st thing was the spot in the back above where the stock pci-e card would stick out. The 8800 needs to vent, so there needed to be a hole there. 2 - second, the rear of the card needed some space. To do this, i had to remove the shroud from over the heatsink and cut about 1 inch off of it. Also, where it connects to the mount on the motherboard i had to trim the mount down quite a bit. I thought this would loosen the heatsink alot but it never, the hs is still firmly on the cpu!

Power Supply For Dell E520
Can anyone recommend me a good power supply for the dell e520. I'm looking to upgrade my video card to nvidia geforce 7 series, so i guess something around 400w with be sufficient? I'm a total new when it comes to power supplies so any help would be greatly appreciated.

Dell Inspiron 580 Restore Factory Setting
Why my computer (dell inspiron 580) wont show up restore factory setting image? When my computer restart and boot up while i press f12 repeat, then select and i select "repair your computer" and waiting for loading window and finaly show up. Then click next and i type password then click to next and now the menu don't show up "recovery factory setting image" from the last select. It weird. At 2 month ago "recovery factory setting" show up and now dont show up. Also i dont have a disc for a reinstalled window 7. And how can "restore factory setting" to show up again on my computer?

Dell Dimension E521 Or Dell Inspiron 531
I have both of these systems and want to choose one to keep and one to sell. The parts i will be putting in either to upgrade either are the following:
Amd x2 5600+
Evga 7600gt pci-e 256mb ddr3
2gb pc2-6400
2x 250gb wd sata hd's
Both systems have a 300wt psu, but the 531 allows for a hsf aftermarket to be added, while the e521 has this hsf built into the case type thing. If you were going to choose one system to keep and one tell sell, what would you do?
