Blank Monitor After Frozen State

Usually after several minutes or about 5 minutes of computer use time my computer freezes up. After this i reset the computer and wait for it to boot up but instead, when the computer starts up (like the power starts on) there's no display on the monitor. It's plain black. I turn it on and off and on and off and about after 10-20 mins it starts up normally again. I usually got an error sometimes after it froze saying something about my intel graphics driver. I looked around the forum saying it could be the motherboard or a bad cpu but currently right now i don't have the type of cash that would be enough to make repairs. I want to figure out what the problem is besides the mobo since mobo's are not exactly cheap. (Attached is what cpuz read)

Pc Monitor Screen Kept Going Blank While Using

Yesterday my monitor screen kept going blank while using my pc. The fans and computer were still running and the monitor was receiving no signal. A buddy was at my place and said he had the same issue and to replace my monitor. I went and bought a new monitor came home, hooked it up and the same issue kept happening. Funny thing is, if i hook the monitor up to the motherboard monitor connector everything works correctly. So am i left to think this is a videocard and/or powersupply issue?

Computer Monitor Suddenly Went Blank

I was working on my computer when the monitor suddenly went black. Nothing seemed to be different in the tower; there were no sound changes, no light changes. The monitor's power light stayed on. I recently acquired another computer and monitor from a friend and decided to hook both monitors to both towers to troubleshoot. Both monitors work fine when hooked up to the second computer, and both monitors stay blank when connected to the first computer. So, the problem has to be in the tower. What sort of problem does it sound like i have? What should my next step be? The only spec i have for the machine, since i can't access the hard drive, is that it's running xp.

5850 Problem - Monitor Goes Blank

I recently upgraded to an asus 5850 hd and i'm having one annoying problem with it. Even though i have all my games set to the same desktop and refresh rate as my monitor (1920x1080 60hz), when the game loads or whenever i alt tab, the monitor goes blank and takes a few seconds before popping back on, just like it would do if i was changing resolutions. It never did this with my old video card (8800 gt) and i've also tested 2 different monitors. Any idea what's going on here?

Running the catalyst 9. 11s and win7 64bit. Edit: after further testing it seems that dragon age can alt tab without the monitor blanking out even though it's apparently set to the same settings as the other games. Wow and crysis act like res is changing when alt tabbing though.

Monitor Goes Blank - Mode Not Supported

When i boot up my computer during the boot process my monitor goes blank and displays "mode not supported, 36hz. Etc" something like that. Anyone know anything might cause this, its a flat screen mag i believe". It does this for most of the boot process and then when it comes to logging in, it shows back up and everything is fine. Edit: would going to windows property/advance/monitor and changing the refresh rate to 60hz. Would that help this issue? I cant test this now seeing that i'm at work.

Monitor Screen Will Go Completely Blank For About 2 Seconds

So i got a new lcd monitor. This one , actually. It seemed like a good deal. Anyways, i think there is a problem with it. Every once in a while (about every 20 minutes), the screen will go completely blank for about 2 seconds, and then turn back on and be completely normal, and then repeat about 20 minutes later. I know its minor, but my god it gets annoying. I am using the digital output on an ati radeon 9550 256mb video card. Have any of you heard of this problem before?

Do you think that there is most likely a problem with the monitor, or possibly with the video card? This is the first time i’ve used the digital video capability before, but why would it happen roughly every 20 minutes?

Frozen Bios Flashing

I'm flashing an asus mobo. I was following the steps outlined here. I got to the point where it asked me to type in the name of the update file. Then it asked me whether i want to save bios (don't remember the wording exactly). I was out of patience so selected n. Then it prompted, "y to program, n to exit. " I typed in y. The prompt disappeared. Then it stopped. And that's it. There's no progress bar, it doesn't say "please wait" or anything like that. It seems like it hasn't even started yet, if there's no progress bar? But i can't be sure, i don't remember what it looked like last time i flashed it (successfully). It's been like this for probably 10 minutes now. Is it safe for me to hit the reset button? Seems i don't have any other options.

Lg Neon Screen Frozen

How do i fix my lg neon screen if it is frozen?

Answer:-

Reset it then. If the device is frozen, it won't unfreeze until you clear the data caches (done by a full system reset).

Warcraft 3 - Frozen Throne - Cursor Is Slow

Ever since i got my geforce fx 5500 (256mb), i've been bothered by a relatively slow cursor in wc3:fz. It makes playing the game much less entertaining. Before i got that video card, i had a geforce mx 420 (64mb), and it would play fz beautifully, with no cursor problems whatsoever. Of course that's driving me nuts because the 5500 is supposedly much better. Besides, wc3:fz is not 'that' video power demanding. I've tried to play it on the 'lowest' graphic options, but there was no difference in cursor speed. On any graphic setting, there's no lag or performance issues at all; only the cursor is slow. Is there anyway to work this out?

Solid State Drives

I'm looking at buying an ssd for my newest build, but i've run into some problems. I want the drive to be sata, but the only affordable ones of decent size are ide. Will the fact that it's an ssd be fast enough to compensate? Also, about size. The ssd will only hold the os. How much hd space is needed for vista. I know it says you only need like 15 gb or something, but how much room would i need to have to make space for things like program installs?

Best Solid State Drive

As prices drop and capacities increase it makes sense to upgrade the slowest part of a pc with 21st century technology. I am thinking of purchasing an solid state drive and use that for operating system and games, rest of the 2 hds which are already there will remain for storage purpose. What is your suggestion?

What will be the performance boost? Should i go for corsair or western digital? Which one of these 2 will yield better performance with good price?

Solid State Drives, Which Is The Best ?

I am in the market for a solid state drive for a work station that i can not afford to have go down as often as it does with a traditional hard disk. Is solid state technology at the point where it is more reliable than a standard server grade hard drive?

I am looking at the flowing drive, is there anything else i should know about ssd's?

Any advice or tips that can be given would be immensely valuable to me and greatly appreciated.

Ssd Solid State Drive Questions

I've been shopping on-line for a few days now for a ssd and i like what i see performance wise with the drives. I seem to be discovering more questions than answers though at this point and i had a few questions that i'm hoping this community can answer. I'm simply looking to use this ssd with the windows 7 i purchased. I talked with some friends and we all have the same questions regarding a simple setup for this drive which amazingly enough none of us can find on this forum, so without further delay these are the questions we have regarding the drive:

#1. Explain to me like i'm a complete idiot how to install this drive from start to finish with the following setup, brand new installation of windows 7, and the only hard drive is the ssd drive. #2. Explain to me like i'm a complete idiot how to install this drive from start to finish with the following setup, brand new windows 7 installation with one ssd, and one regular hard drive. #3. In a windows 7 clean install does the drive clean itself now with the "auto trimming" or do i still need to do any manual cleanup of the ssd (once again explain it to me like i'm the village idiot)

#4. If i currently have an installation of windows 7 on my ssd and want to delete everything and reinstall windows do i have to do anything special to delete all the data? Or does windows 7 take care of that? I've seen something about having to go into dos to actual delete all the data, once again. Thorough explanation. #5. In regards to the page-file issue, if i have 8 gigs of ram or more, with a windows 7 install, what is the safest bet in regards to the page-file, and what size, not what is fastest but what will work consistently and at what size should i set it? I've seen some recommencing 400mb to be sure there is enough for error reporting, a general answer along the lines of " go with this stupid, you cant go wrong" would be nice. I know i'm not the only one who needs an answer to the above questions. Personally waited almost a year for the kinks to be worked out and windows 7 to be released just #1 build a 64 bit system and #2 get a solid state drive.

Solid State Drives (ssd) Is Not As Fast As I Thought

I found a video that shows you how fast a ssd loads xp vs a regular hd. Although the type of hd is not clear. But when viewing the video the hd only lags behind the ssd (which is very expensive). Here watch the video and see for yourself, is the cost of ssd worth what they are asking for?

Which Non Solid State Drives Are People Buying These Days ?

Which hard drive do i buy? I've decided on the western digital 500gb scorpio blue for my laptop after seeing ncix's sale on them (i'm in canada. And it's $99), as well as techreport's roundup, but what about an external? I was looking at the 1. 5tb seagate 7200. 11's, but after that firmware fiasco, my friend's seagate dying (and finding out about their garbage rma policies), and their seemingly lackluster speeds in recent reviews, it appears that it would be best to avoid them. Which non-solid-state drives are people buying these days? I feel like i'm a tad out of the loop. I remember having good luck with old western digital's (like, 80-120gb) when they were new, before i switched to seagate around when the 320's came out. But what about hitachi, etc. How are they?

This is ncix's sale page. They usually have the best prices on things but i'm open to suggestions.

Intel Solid State Drive - Video Review

Intel's new solid state drive - video review - a lot of smart people have said a lot of smart things about intel's new 80gb solid state drive recently sampled to the media. But some of the basic questions i had on my mind were left unchecked, like, "is it really faster, or is that just what hdtach tells you on a graph?" We get out the stop watch and a 5-disk raid array and go to town. Follow the link for intel solid state drive video review:

Using A Solid State Hard Drive In Desktop Computers

I've a desktop pc. I wish to replace the current maxtor 60 gb in it with a solid state drive. I know that solid state drives are still limited in drive capacity but i don't care about capacity since i've an external hdd for storage. The question is: are these kind of drives meant for the desktop pc or laptops only ?

I'm looking for the following benefits (p. S. I'm using windows xp sp3):
1) faster hibernation/resume from hibernation/sleep/coming from sleep. Etc (or i won't have these benefits unless i'm using vista?)
2) less heat generation inside my case which comes from spinning hard disk all the time
3) saving electricity a little bit
4) less noise (since the drive will be sleeping most of the time unless it needs to retrieve/save something on it. This is very useful for me as most of the time i stay on pc, i'm just reading)
5) reliability
6) higher performance (read/write) which improves os and application load up times

I get no post but the cpu fan still spins and everything on the mobo looks ok.could this be a power supply issue or a case issue or something im missing. Im in need of so much help! I also smelt a slightly burning/funky smell also in the case that i dont think ive smelled before.

Computer Goes Blank After Win Xp Logo

I even tried reinstall win xp fresh. After it loads the drivers and before it goes to the screen for installing or deleting it says, "starting windows" on the blue screen, then it goes black screen. No restart but all the fans are on. I have switched out the hard drive, ram, ribbon cables, cd drive, unplugged the floppy drive, swapped out video cards, went into bios and clicked on fail safe settings and it does the same thing with any hardware that i put into this machine. All capacitors look good. What am i missing? Can the mobo be fried and the caps still look good?

This is a p4 2. 4ghz, 512ram ddr, 80 gb. But like i said i swapped out everything and it does the same thing.

Blank Discs In Drives Not Recognized

I am trying to use windows media to burn audio cd's. I have done this hundreds of times before w/o a problem. Recently, i had to reload windows onto my system. Since then i have not been able to burn audio cd's using windows media. Wm seems to be working fine in most repects. I can rip cd's onto my hard drive and can set up playlists as i always have. I can set up a list of songs to burn in the wm task pane however, when i push the "burn" button at the bottom of the task pane my cd drive opens (expelling the blank cd) and a comment box opens up. The comment box asks me to load a blank cd and that wm will start the burn when it recognises that the blank cd is loaded. I close the disc tray with the cd still in it and it still won't recognise the disc. I have two burners and this happens with both and yes, i have changed the pane option to select the proper drive location for the burning. I am sure the cd's i am using are writeable as they are the same cds i was using before i had to reload windows xp and it all worked fine then. The only thing i can figure is that during the set up of w/m, after i loaded xp, i failed to set the proper buttons and whistles. The drives appear to be running properly as i can view dvds and yes, burn from cd to cd using roxio however, roxio puts up the same comment box when trying to burn the w/m playlist thru the roxio software. I have searched for a qualified site referencing the trouble shooting of w/m and i have seen that others have similar if not the exact troubles that i am having however, there are never any answers to solve the problem.
