Asus A8n-e Boot Problem (beep Error Code)

I've been running xp on a asus a8n-e motherboard for a good while without any problems. The other day i replaced my hiper type r 580w psu with a corsair hx 520w, and now the pc won't boot and beeps 1 long followed by 3 short. I've stripped it down to bare essentials (motherboard, vc, memory and cpu) but i get the same problem. The problem also persist when i reconnect the hiper psu. 1. Reseating everything. 2. Using any possible combination of memory stick(s) and slots. 3. Resetting the cmos. The rest of the pc is as per sig, with the exception for vista which will be installed when (if!?) I can sort this.

Beep Code

Whenever i turn on my computer, it makes this long beep noise and i am guessing somethings wrong with it. The thing is, everything seems to work fine. >_>;; i tried to "decode" the beep code, but i must be quite stupid, because i can't seem to match with the right one. My motherboard is: ga-965p-ds3. The beep codes listed on its manual are:
-
1 short: system boots successfully
2 short: cmos setting error
1 long 1 short: dram or m/b error
1 long 2 short: monitor or display card error
1 long 3 short: keyboard error
1 long 9 short: bios rom error
Continuous long beeps: dram error
Continuous short beeps: power error
-

I have recorded the beep noise with my mp3 player and the sound has been slightly distorted(?), But it didn't change much from the actual sound.

No Post, No Beep Code, Nothing

A week ago, i had a fully running system that had worked fine for the past 2 years. What ended up happening is my video card began to fail, artifacting all over the place and eventually locking up. I sent it in to get it rma'ed and its in the mail. I got bored yesterday and decided to upgrade my video gard since radeon 4870's were on sale for 170 at my local shop. The card worked great, i played some tf2, messed with the clocks a little bit, watched my little bro play some wow etc. It worked fantastic, and was only 170. Good deal it seems. I made sure that the power requirements would not be too much. The card only uses 180 or so if i remember correctly, so it should be fine with a 500w unless my math is beyond retarded. Anyways, this morning i turn my box on and get no bios post message, no beep code, nothing. It powers up fine, but absolutely nothing happens other than fan activity and power lights. I can feel the harddrive spinning up, and the cdrom drive also works. This is what i have done so far:

-Checked all connectors, reconnected the video card power supply cables (what are those called anyways?). -Checked that my monitors were working (both dvi and vga monitors). -Pulled out all sticks of ram but one w/ video card in. Nothing. -Pulled out all ram and video card, turned it on, nothing. -Pulled out the video card, turned it on. Nothing. -Reset the bios by taking out the battery and using the reset jumper as instructed by my mobo's manual, put it all back. Nothing. -All of the capacitors on the motherboard look intact. -As far as i know nothing got hot last night, i was watching the temps to see how hot the new card runs. When i power it on everything comes alive, but i noticed that the harddrive activity light has nothing on it. Not sure if that means anything. I don't have another video card or desktop handy to swap cards/boxes to verify the video card is working/eliminate it as the problem, but i plan to do that later on today and will update this post, i just had a minute to post so i was hoping i could get some tips.system:-

Asus p5l-vm 1394 mobo
Asus 8800gts 320mb (now its a sapphire radeon 4870 1gb)
4gb of kingston ddr2 ram
500w psu
Intel core 2 duo e6600
320gb seagate hard drive.

Beep Code - 1 Long, 2 Short

This morning my pc told me my network cable was unplugged after being on the net for 30 min. I rebooted the computer and was confronted with the beep code: 1 long, 2 short. No video though case and cpu heat-sink fans are running. I researched these codes and found : video ram error or memory error (depending on where i went). This is what i've tried:

(1) reseated video card and memory
(2) swapped video card to diff pci-e slot
(3) swapped video card for known working backup
(4) swapped memory for spare set of 2x512mb pc 3200
(5) gave mobo a once over to check for blown caps >>>none found

Things i'm contemplating doing:

(1) changing power supply (too much hassle now since i'm going to work in 20 mins). (2) try other 2 memory slots (didn't do it yet since manual said to use a1 and b1 slots for my configuration). This incident will make me get off my ass and finally upgrade to my i7 system in waiting, but i hate to build under these conditions. Any and all input and suggestions are appreciated. This is my system:

Asus a8n 32sli deluxe
Opteron 170 (stock)
Evga 8800gts video card
2x1gb ocz ddr pc3200 (set to correct voltages and timings)
Enermax noisetaker eg701 power supply
Samsung and seagate sata drives (2 of each)
Benq 1620 dvd burner

Beep Code After Changing Psu

I have an old pc socket 370, my psu 200w went wrong (capacitor blew up) so i had to change another 230w instead. But when i turn my pc on, my display was still black, it led flickered and there were a series of beeps: the first two beeps very fast, interrupted, 8 beeps, interrupted, 2 bip fast, interrupt and the last beep. Because my pc is too old, the mainboard's manual is lost. Can anyone help me with this hard situation. Ps: i tested ram, cmos battery in another pc. All worked well. My pc has 1 cdrom, 1 hdd, 1 agp 2x 4mb, 1 pci soundcard.

Compaq Laptop Beep Code

Compaq laptop beep code 1-3-4-3 ? Get a beep code that translates as test 512 kb base memory. How do i fix? (Compaq presario laptop with xp). Answer:- 1-3-4-3 refers to "test 512kb base memory". It suggests replacing the ram. If you have more than one memory module, alternate them and see if the computer will boot with either of them installed. Or you can run memtest. It will take a while: http://www.Memtest.org/

Asus A8n-sli Vs A8n-sli Premium

I am looking to build a computer for my mom, and she is looking for something faster than her 5 year old gateway. I have narrowed it down to the athlon 4200+ dual core, with 2 gb of ram. Now i am stuck, because expense is somewhat of an issue. Would i be able to get away with an a8n-sli motherboard? Or do i need to go with the premium? She is obviously not a hard-core gamer, just wants a decent system to run photoshop and word type applications. I can save around 40. 00, which would be worth it if there is no specific functionality that is gained with the premium. I have tried searching the forums and the internet for comparisons of the two, but have not been able to find anything decent. Thoughts?

The whole system would be: athlon 4200+ x2, asus a8n-sli (premium?), 2x (not sure) 1gb ram, western digital 250gb, ati radeon 9250, (not sure) dvd burner

Asus A8n-sli Troubleshooting

My motherboard refuses to boot, system speaker makes repeating long beep (about 2-3 seconds long, award bios).system doesn't display anything on the screen and it doesn't take keyboard input (ctrl-alt-del or numlock doesn't work). I tried swapping memory, and booting without memory or graphics card. Does anybody know what that beep code indicates?

Fault appears to be with a connection somewhere - system booted after some shaking, only to revert back when i inserted original ram. I also tried putting in another ram stick in every slot without any results. Is it a dead board?

Sata 2 On Asus A8n Sli

My only hdd just crashed - a 200gig maxtor sata - so i've just bought a 300gig seagate on ebay. But it is sataii. I didn't think about it at the time (i had only a couple of minutes to get the bid in. And hassles with the kids, etc. ) But maybe my motherboard won't be able to handle sataii. Does anyone know?

I can't interrogate the pc to find out because it is dead. I didn't get a paper manual about the mobo, just a board 'map' and it only says sata on it. And i did get a cd but when i run it - or look at it, it won't 'run' on this computer - there's no information about sata or sataii. I went to asus homepage and turned up my board and found no help.

Memory For Asus A8n-sli Premium

I am going to order an asus a8n-sli premium mobo. I want to know the best memory that i can get for this mobo. I want no less than 2x512mb sticks, and would like to spend $150 or less, but no more than $200. I want lower latency and really just want quality high performance memory. I know the mobo says it supports up to pc3200 but i've seen people who use high speed memory like pc4000. Does this help out a lot speed wise, or are you limited by the mobo?

Uninstalling Asus A8n Deluxe Chipset Fan

I recently began to have problems with the asus a8n sli deluxe motherboard chipset fan. By reading other forums it seems like this is a fairly common problem with the board which is why i am asking such a specific question. The problem with removing the fan is that it is held in place by rubber pins that have a tab that locks behind the motherboard. To remove this fan i don't want to remove the entire motherboard, so if anyone has any suggestions about how to remove this type of fan please let me know. Thanks!

Asus A8n-e Fan Slow Causing Pc To Crash

I have a amd athlon 64" bit processor and an asus a8n-e mobo. And everytime i boot up i get a msg saying my chip fan is too slow and yes, it is. The chipfan more than 80% of the time is still, doesn spin at all. Now could this be the reason that my pc suddenly crashes / shuts down on its own (as if the electricity / power just went off?

It is very annoying as i sent my motherboard off to my retailer also and they took more than 25 days to send it back. But the problem still continues. Why is the chip fan so slow, or not working until i flick it with my fingers (still it only works for a while, then slows down after about 10 mins then stops. What should i do? I cant afford to wait another 25 days, and now i am not under warranty as well. Any advice?

Asus A8n Sli Deluxe Chipset Fan Sound / Noise

As i turned on my computer, the chipset fan starting making a very loud and annoying buzzing sound. Has my fan failed me and need replaced? Or perhaps something worse. The fan usually makes a small buzzing noise which i found out is common, but this new ultra loud screaming it is now doing is unbearable. Unplugging the fan did the trick, however i still will have to replace the thing. Does anyone have any suggestions. Perhaps if possible a fanless solution.

Pc Will Not Boot, No Post Beep

My wife and i have matching custom built pc's. Recently the liquid cooling system in her pc needed to be flushed and refilled. I removed the mobo from the computer, pulled the cooling system from the cpu, flushed and refilled, cleaned and prepped both heatsink and cpu and applied new thermal compound, reassembled the system and turned it on. First time after flush it ran fine for about 10 minutes, then shut down normally (on it's own). Since then it has not booted properly. The indicator light on the mobo is illuminated, showing that there is power. Upon pressing the pwr switch, all devices begin to run, all fans, drives, and keyboard/mouse turn on, but the bios never starts to boot, and no post beep sounds. I am thinking that it is most likely the mobo or cpu but was hoping that someone could post an alternative here that i could try before shelling out the $200-$300 for replacement parts as everything is past warranty (by like 3 months).

Single Beep On One Boot

Alright. I was playing around in the bios and i selected a fsb setting of 166 and rebooted. Blank screen, no boot. Nothing. So, as in previous instances of this i cleared the cmos by the jumper on my soltek sl-75frn2 and held the insert key as i powered on. Nothing. No go. The cd-rom reads, but doesn't do anything else. The hdd light comes on for about 20 seconds and disapears. I heard a single beep on one boot, that is all. I have unseated the memory and videocard independently to see if i would get a beep but there were no such instances.

Abit At8 Won't Boot - Post Code 90

I've had this problem with my system since i built it, but it seems to have gotten worse lately. When i start up my system, it powers up but doesn't post. The code on the motherboard led display is 90 (which corresponds to "completed uguru initial process: award bios taking over boot job") but it hangs there indefinitely. If i do a reset, it switches over to code f0 (which just says "button rest") and then hangs there indefinitely. Usually, if i do some esoteric combination of hitting the reset and power buttons, it will eventually post correctly (i know this sounds ridiculous, but it's true). But i can't seem to replicate it now. Any help is appreciated. I've swapped all sorts of hardware in and out including the memory and the cpu and it doesn't affect this whatsoever. -Athlon 64 3500+
-Abit at8
-Kingston hyperx 4x 1gb
-Asus en9800gtx+

No Complete Boot, No Beep, Or Monitor Signal

The symptoms for my pc are as follows:

1. Pc receives power (as indicated by fan and powersupply light)
2. Pc does not output signal to monitor (verified functioning monitor and cable). 3. Analog, laser-mouse does not receive power consistently from pc. Laser-light turns on for a fraction of a second upon connecting the mouse to the pc, but then remains off after the mouse is firmly fixed into analog mouse-port. 4. Usb, laser-mouse does receive power from pc when plugged into usb port. 5. Pc does not make any beeping sounds whatsoever upon attempted boot. My request: please advise as to what troubleshooting methods i could use. Do these clues provide any insight into what may be wrong with the pc already?

Keyboard Error: ( Code 41 )

Yesterday someone came out and connected my computer to my home network. After they left and i got back to my computer, i found that my keyboard didn’t work. I found that in the device manage my keyboard's icon had an exclamation point next to it, and when i clicked on it it said:"windows successfully loaded the device driver for this hardware but cannot find the hardware device. (Code 41)". I assumed there was something wrong with my ps2 port, so i went out and bought a usb keyboard. No luck. So far i have tried: removing the driver and reinstalling it, removing the driver, unplugging the keyboard, plugging it in and installing the driver, removing the driver in safe mode (which i can access by the way; the keyboard stops working when the computer starts up. ), Trying different keyboards, and even removing sp2 (that solved someone on a different forum's problems), and nothings worked so far. I've also tried system restore, but i don’t know for sure if it restored my computer to a time earlier than when it was messed with. The person who connected me to the network is on vacation now, so i cant really contact them. I've scoured the internet (using the onscreen keyboard), and can't find anything helpful, also i forgot to mention that the buttons on the top of the keyboard work. (Buttons specific to the keyboard like media, favorites, volume etc).

Error: This Device Could Not Start ( Code 10 )

I have 895mb of ram on my system now, but i started with 1gb? Anyways, i kept getting blue screens and they told me to use a new video adapter. I got a new video card and it reccomends 1gb of ram. It has a vga adapter that you have to connect your monitor to for it to work. I went into device manager and it said "this device could not start (code 10). " Then after some lagg, the computer froze. Is this a ram problem? And if it is, can i just buy one stick of 2gb ram instead of adding 1gb to the current 895mb? I have windows vista home basic 32-bit. Int pent 4 proc. 3. 0ghz. I went into system setup when it booted, and changed the primary video card to pci-e, which is what the new video card runs on. The video card is the radeon hd 3650 1gb ddr2. This is like my 3rd topic, i know. Bare with me, i keep running into like 2 different problems every day.

Error Installing Nic - Code 35

My friend has a asus m3a79-t deluxe, he's trying to install a wireless card. The drivers install fine and everything is hunky dory except for this error:

Your computer's system firmware does not include enough information to properly configure and use this device. To use this device, contact your computer manufacturer to obtain a firmware or bios update. (Code 35)

His bios is fully up to date. It just doesn't make any sense to me. The only possible solutions are "update the bios" which he has done. So what the *** is going on? Thanks in advance

Oh. He has vista ultimate 64 bit, 8gb of ram, phenom ii 940 (i think), nothing's overclocked.

Wii Error Code 52130

I keep trying to connect my wii to the router, but i can't seem to get it working anymore. I get error code 52130 i think it was. The thing i am not sure about is that i am using a wireless card with a laptop, and plugging that into the "internet" port on the router. I am wondering if i would also need at least 1 computer on the port though because i don't think the router can have an ip address without it having a computer to connect to first. However, i have done it before, and i'm not sure how. I also have a modem, but no other internet to my home.

Error Code 2000 0142

Two days ago, i was using my laptop, a dell inspiron 1420, then all of a sudden, all my programs just stopped working. I was still able to move the cursor so i tried to shut down the computer. I tried clicking the shut down button a number of times but nothing happened so i shut it down manually. When i tried to turn it on, it said "error loading operating system". I then tried to run diagnostics to see what's wrong then i got the error code 2000-0142 during the self check test. I found out that this is a hard drive problem so i tried booting from the windows vista cd but it still didn't work. I then put the hard drive into an enclosure to try to repair it but when i plugged it into another computer, only the second partition of the drive showed up, which is the 10gb "recovery" partition. I tried browsing the partition and it seemed to be working well. I went to disk management to see what happened to the remaining 150gb partition and it said "eisa configuration". I tried right-clicking on the partition but the only thing that appears is "help". I then tried to format the drive just to see if it will allow me to but it always gets an error. Is there a way to retrieve my important files from the other partition?
