Bsod During Sata / Xp Pro Install

I installed it all in the same lian li case i have always used. The problem is, everytime i try and install windows xp pro it blue screens everytime it passes the first screen. It will do the usual driver installs at the bottom, past the f6 and f2 prompt, but will blue screen before it gets to the "welcome to setup" screen where it partitions and formats. This is my first experience with sata, so i have been googling like crazy but have not found any solution. I tried removing ram to a single 2gb stick, and swapping it with other sticks. I plugged the hard drive into my xps and formatted it - it showed as healthy. I have also tried to perform the windows xp install using the xps with the same blue screen result. I ran the data lifeguard utility to check for errors, in both fast and slow, and it showed no errors. I used data lifeguard to format it as well in a 80/912gb partition. I have plugged the former 40gb ide hard drive into the system and it worked fine. The options in the bios are:

Sata raid/ahci mode (intel ich10r southbridge)
Enables or disables raid for the sata controllers integrated in the intel ich10r southbridge or configures the sata controllers to ahci mode. Disabled disables raid for the sata controllers and configures the sata controllers to pata mode. (Default)

Ahci configures the sata controllers to ahci mode. Advanced host controller interface (ahci) is an interface specification that allows the storage driver to enable advanced serial ata features such as native command queuing and hot plug. Raid enables raid for the sata controllers. Sata port0-3 native mode
Specifies the operating mode of the integrated sata controllers. Disabled allows the sata controllers to operate in legacy ide mode. In legacy mode the sata controllers use dedicated irqs that cannot be shared with other device. Set this option to disabled if you wish to install operating systems that do not support native mode. (Default)

Enabled allows the sata controllers to operate in native ide mode. Enable native ide mode if you wish to install operating systems that support
Native mode. I do not want a raid configuration, and have read that ahci will not work with xp pro. Not sure if this is correct?

I have pressed f6 during install and used a floppy to install the ich10r sata raid driver from the mobo disc and from intels site. Is there anything i need to do to the bios in between?

Tried changing the bios to raid and configuring it as raid 0 with a single disk (i read somewhere that this is possible) but it did not give me the "press " option to set up raid that the manual said it would. Possibly because it only sees a single disk. Tried disabling sata raid/ahci mode, but enabling sata port0-3 native mode. Tried different optical drives. Tried different xp pro disks with just xp pro, sp1, and sp2. Gigabytes web site is horrible, and only randomly lists the mobo, has no real troubleshooting and support hours stink.

How To Install Another Sata Hard Drive Into System ?

I'm installing another hard drive into my system, so i can put linux on it. When i opened the case i found out the the alienware system used sata not a regular ata hard drive. I never installed an sata hard drive with another one already in there. I'm buying another serial ata 15-pin female-to-4-power connector / serial ata adapter, which looks like this: and a sata hard drive, i also have extra serial sata cable which look like this, and i know go into the motherboard: but is that all i need? I'm confused on how the new hard drive is going to get power, or do i hook up the black end (14 pin) to the new hard drive then hook the 4 pin white part to the female port on the far right hand corner of the old sata hard drive already in my system and thats it? Or do i just connect the connect the black 14 pin into the sata hard drive then connect the white end to that hanging power cord by my ram?

Unable To Install Drivers

When trying to install latest nvidia nforce 4. 27 drivers, the install process tells me to insert my win98 cd in the selected drive. Except there is no drive selected. "My computer" is high lighted in the popup window(the window is not the window that opens when it detects new hardware and says it will find the best drivers or select a location). I select the cd drive, hit ok and it just reverts back to "my computer". Hit enter on the install window and it tells me i've opted to cancel the install. I've even tried rebooting with win98 cd in the drive with trhe same results. How to fix?

Can't Install Vista Or Win7 On Sata Drive

I thought it would be simple. Does it matter which sata slots are used for a boot drive. There are 8 on my board 4 controlled by intel ichr7 and the others by marvel. Ethernet Drivers Refuse To Install

This less than 2 year old compaq computer was attacked by malware of unknown kind and origin. The malware problem has been solved and the computer is running all applications very well. However, connecting to the internet is not possible 'cause the ethernet drivers will not install, even from the installation disk. The message is that the drivers are either missing or corrupt. I installed a new ethernet card and got the same results. Drivers are corrupt or missing. I thought i could by pass the whole ethernet problem by using a usb connection to the cable modem. Same results. The drivers were either missing or corrupt. I have uninstalled, reinstalled, enabled, disabled but can not make a connection using the original ethernet adapter, the new ethernet adapter or a usb connection. I am wide open to any reasonable suggestions which might allow me to reconnect to the internet.

Ati, Cannot Install Drivers Or Ccc

I've been happily using 9. 12 drivers&ccc (catalyst control center) but i saw 10. 2 were out and decided to update, bad decision. I went to control panel and removed everything with ati catalyst install manager. I restarted pc and tried to install new drivers(downloaded drivers+ccc pack from ati's website) but it doesn't show or install drivers or ccc, i can choose ati catalyst install manager, microsoft visual c+, lotr online trial, product registration and hdmi audio drivers. Where are drivers and ccc?

I checked extracted folder at c:ati and they are there, just not being shown or installed. I installed this thing and no ccc and at device manager it shows driver is installed, but not this one, one that windows will automatically install. (I'm using windows7 64bit)

After that i tried downloading and installing drivers and ccc separately but they won't be shown or installed either. I tried installing from safe mode but it tells me detection driver can't be loaded. I used driver sweeper, but nothing changes. I also uninstalled driver from device manager and tried installing again but same old driver is installed. Of course i also tried installing back 9. 12 but same thing happens! I have no clue what caused this and what to do. Please help, running out of ideas. Oh and i have 4870x2 graphic card and i'm trying to install "10-2_vista64_win7_64_dd_ccc_wdm_enu"

Pci.sys Corrupted, When Install Drivers

I just built my new system, installed windows and everything seemed fine, then i tried installing the boards drivers and the system crashed, then when i restarted the pc, it couldn't start windows sayin, system32/driver/pci.sys was corrupted or damaged. I tred fixing the system and i wasn't able to, so i formated the disc, and installed windows again, and that happens again and again. Pci.sys gets corrupted again, i updated the bios and tried installing the boards drivers one by one and downloading them from the web site of the manufacturer, and when i was installing the first one "motherboard_driver_chipset_intel_inf_965.exe" same thing happened. Also im not very sure, but i think in one of my many attempts i installed the gpu drivers first than the board drivers and same thing happened. Now after restarting the pc a million times and having done nothing to really repair the file, the pc started again, and even though it was very slow, at the beginning, after some more reboots it seems to be ok now and i was able to install al the boards and gpu drivers except the motherboard_driver_chipset_intel_inf_965.exe one. Thing is im sure my oc wont be stable for long, and this seems to be a hardware problem, but i don't have an idea of how to identify what is really happening, so i would really appreciate if you could give it a good thought and give me a solution.

Sata Drivers Required During Installation Of Vista

I am trying to clean install vista ultimate on a nec versa s3200 laptop. During installation, the part where the harddrives need to be choosen, i find that vista asks for device drivers and i cant see any of the 3 partitions on my hdd, not at all, the screen is blank. But the damn cd which came along with nec does not have any sata or raid drivers, so i am practically stuck. The options are that i need to find out what is the make of the harddrive and then try to download the sata drivers for that particular make of hdd and feed it to vista during installation - is that the right thing to do?

Alternatively i am also planning to create a win 98 boot disk on a cd, boot the laptop on the cd, format/s c: ( dunno if it will format it as ntfs or fat ) then access the d: drive and fire up the vista installation from there, a dump of the vista resides in d: you see. Will it still ask me for the drivers? And will it reformat c: to ntfs during installation?

Am i totally wrong in assuming that the drivers being asked by vista is sata drivers, where will i get these drivers and where in bios can i find out the motherboard details.

Cannot Install Windows In New Hdd

I just got myself a segate baracuda hdd (pata), plugged it as primary master, set the jumper accordingly, restarted the computer, got into bios, and the primary master is shown as the segate baracuda hdd just as it should. The secondary master and slave are my two dvd burner drives and these are shown in bios as well. Next, i attempted installing windows xp on the new hdd, on the 'select partition to install screen', it says 'setup could not access this drive'. Next, i tried 'diskpart' from the recovery console, says 'could not access'. Next, i tried my old windows 98 cd, booted to dos, and tried a:>fdisk. Says: warning: could not access disk 1. Tried setting the new hdd as a secondary slave, the secondary master being one of the dvd writers (unplugged the second dvd writer), set the jumpers accordingly. Again, the hdd is shown as the secondary slave in bios as it should, and again, windows could not be installed. Tried all the available modes in bios (lba, chs, large, auto), but the exact same thing happens, no matter what i do. Is the new hdd dead? I even tried a new data cable, same results.

How To Install Windows On A Mac?

The following instructions are for intel-based macs, only. Windows will not run on the older processors without expensive and poorly performing software. One feature of the current mac os x software is an applet called boot camp that allows you to install and switch back and forth (on restart) between the apple and microsoft operating systems. Section i
-
1. Power up the mac under the os x leopard 10. 4. 6 (or higher) operating system. 2. Before installing the new operating system, back up any files and applications installed under os x. 3. Log in to an administrator account on your computer (if one is set, otherwise continue). 4. Make sure no applications are running. 5. Open a new finder window and access your applications folder. 6. Find the utilities folder within applications and locate boot camp assistant. 7. Double-click the application to run. 8. When the application window (aka wizard, to microsoft fans) opens, first click the print button to retrieve a hard copy of the instructions, then click the "continue" button. This will take you to the next screen. 9. The following screen will read: "select what you want to do and click continue. "

10. If you haven't already created a windows partition, select the "create or remove a windows partition" button. 11. Click continue

12. Boot camp assistant will help you create a new partition for windows on your internal hard disk (if you have multiple internal hard disks, you can use any). It is extremely important to create a new partition, or you may wipe out your mac operating system. 13. When you create the windows partition, you'll have the option of choosing to set aside 32 gb, divide the disk space equally, or set a custom size. The windows partition must be at least 5gb to accommodate the new operating system. You should also leave at least 5 gb of free space on each partition.consider which operating system will get more use, and which partition will store more files and applications, then set your size accordingly. 14. When you're satisfied with your choice, click partition. 15. Following the screen prompts, place your windows installation disk in the dvd drive. You must use a single full-installation disk (not an upgrade) of windows xp service pack 2 or a more recent version such as windows vista home basic, home premium, business, ultimate, or the current incarnation of same. Do not attempt to install an earlier version of windows. Section 2
-

1. At this point, you will select and run the windows installation wizard, following instructions as you would if installing on a standard pc. 2. Install the boot camp drivers on your windows volume by inserting the os x disk one dvd. 3. If autorun opens, quit the program. 4. Using windows explorer, locate and select the driver you want to install. 5. Open the driver to start installation. Note: you will not be able to use the eject key on your keyboard while the welcome screen is displayed (you must be set up and running a user account for this key to work). In order to eject a disk, use windows explorer to select the disk, and click the explorer eject icon. Section 3
-

1. If you want your computer to restart automatically after a power failure, click the boot camp system tray item and choose the boot camp control panel. 2. Click the power tab. 3. Select "restart automatically after a power failure. "

Windows should now be installed in its own partition on your internal hard drive. Section 4
-

To select which start-up disk you want to use for a particular session:

1. Restart your computer while holding down the "option" key. 2. When the labeled disk icons appear on your screen, release the option key. 3. Use the mouse to select os x or windows. 4. Click the arrow under the icon. 5. Your computer will now start under your selected operating system. Note: you can only use one partition at a time. Although the dormant partition icon will be visible on your desktop, you will not have access to any files or applications under that os. If you need to transfer a file between operating systems, you'll have to email it to yourself from the appropriate operating system, burn the file to cd or dvd, or transfer across a network, using a second computer as an intermediary (and yes, macs and pcs can talk to each other across a network). Section 5
-

1. To set the default operating system in windows, click the boot camp system tray item and choose the control panel. 2. Select the disk with the operating system you want to use by default. 3. Restart your computer. Once the default os is set, your computer will automatically boot under the selected partition. If you want to use the other operating system for a session, restart while holding down the option key, select the non-default disk, and click the arrow. You will not need to reset your default on restart unless you deliberately want to change it.
