Sata To Ethernet Adapter

I'm building a network cabinet (home use) and just about finished it and wanted to add a ssd drive to the panel. I'd like this ssd drive to connect directly to my network using a gig ethernet adapter. Does anyone know if there is such a beast available? I'm looking for the smallest possible solution. If this allows remote ftp access, so much the better. The only thing i've seen so far are 3. 5" docking adapters that you drop the hard drive in.

Esata To Ethernet Adapter

I have a probox 4 bay enclosure here which i love. I have it connected to my eeepc via usb currently, but i want to get a media pc for my home theater and want to use an adapter to essentially convert the hdd enclosure to a nas. Jaycar sell a usb to ethernet adapter which could work, but my enclosure also has an e-sata port which i would rather use if possible due to it's faster connection speed (i have a lot of high bit-rate 1080p media). So my question is this: does an e-sata to ethernet adapter exist, and where can i get one if so?

Nvidia Nforce Ethernet Adapter Problem

I have an e machine originally running windows vista home premium, now running 7 home premium. I'm having a problem with my nvidia nforce built in networking controller. For a while i was mad at vista before i could afford to buy seven, so when i bought my computer a year ago i downgraded to xp. All was well until i had an issue with the built in ethernet adapter. It kept disconnecting and then reconnecting for no reason. It does this about every 3 minutes or so, and when it does its disconnected for about 10 seconds. Its incredibly annoying especially when i'm gaming because it lags severely during this. Getting fed up with not being able to find the solution to this, i got a really cheap cnet pro pci boosted ethernet adapter from a friend. I got it so cheap because it was old, originally released in 1999 when broadband was first sprouting its legs in the world, and many people who switched from dial up to broadband didn't have these ethernet adapters already in there computer. So anyways i installed it and it works fine. However when i upgraded to windows 7 here in just the last week (clean custom install) the driver for this adapter no longer works. I looked online and found that because its so old its apparently not compatible with windows seven or vista for that matter. So that leaves me with my stupid spastic nforce. What i'm getting at is that the adapter is driving me up the wall. I was just curious if anyone knew of quick fix other than going to buy another ethernet adapter? Did i mention i'm only 15? So no job means i cant really afford to go buy one. I really wish there was some sort of fix for this in the settings. I will take anything someone might suggest to fix this.

Athlon Xp 2200 Ethernet Adapter Stopped Working

This is on my athlon xp 2200 machine. The ethernet has always worked on it, but two nights ago we had a bad lightning storm, now i am getting "a network cable is unplugged" message and i can't fix it. I have tried deleting the drivers and reinstalling them, twice. I have changed the cables around for direct internet and then to the router and still no go. I know the internet cable is working because i have internet on this computer. Can anyone think of somehting else? I am desperate here. Athlon xp 2200 t-bred. 768mb of ddr400 ram
Dfi ad77 infinity mobo
Geforce fx 5900. Oddly enough, this computer was fried too, rather my battery backup needed to be reset and everything removed and replaced in my mobo.

Sata Nas With Ethernet And Usb 2.0

Rather then building a htpc, i am going to get the wd tv hd media player. Thus i would like to get a nas (1-2 drive support) that can use both ethernet and usb 2. 0 at the same time. Ethernet to get media onto the drive and usb to interface with the wd hd media player. Its my cheap and compact idea for a media player of 1080p content.

1tb Freeagent Sata Adapter

I've decided to pass on my externals 5 year warranty because it worked 1 year perfect, this means it will in the future and i don't use it too much anyway. I've hardly managed to open the enclosure and i want the sata hdd inside replaced, because it's full of backup and it's place is in the closet. The thing is, i want to buy a larger hdd to take it's place inside, a 1. 5tb or preferable but i don't know if it will be supported by the sata adapter inside. Some friends say it should be possible 90%, but i can't be sure of that because i've seen on the market separate enclosures with gb or tb limit on the specs. I've tried this before putting a smaller hdd, but never a larger so i'm afraid that i'll buy for nothing a new hdd that won't work. I don't have a pc, only a laptop so i can't risk having it on my desk doing nothing. I'm out of money to buy another external, because the $ difference between that and internal is pretty big in my country and i also don't have a job anymore. If anyone knows if this is possible to support or if anyone out there ever tried this before, even on lower combinations (eg: 750gb hdd on 500gb enclosure) please let me know.

Usb To Sata Adapters For Storage Rather Than Buy Sata Cards

I've read here where people need to buy raid cards or pci, sata cards to add more hard drives to their system. Well i am in the same boat, i have 2, 30g vertex in raid, 3, 1. 5tb samsung, and 1 sata dvd drive. All my sata ports are full and a sata card costs. Idk more than 50 bucks i guess. Why can't we just use usb to sata adapters? The speed is relatively the same, at least for just xfer of files and streaming. It can be put internally, and it's cheap. Usb to sata adapter kits usually consist of the usb to sata adapter cable and a separate power-brick for sata to outlet. You can buy just the usb to sata adapter for 1$ from overseas with free shipping. Mount some usb headers internally to plug a few of these cables and run the sata power from your regular power-supply, it can handle.

So whats the thought behind this? It can be relatively hidden(i like clean cases and you can hide most anything) is a cheap solution to an expanding computer case (can't usb do like 126 devices?) And speeds are pretty good. Again this is for internal installation, you would use your power-supply for power, and 1$ per hard drive for the usb to sata adapter. I have a spare 750 and 2x 500 segates lying around and a lian li v2000 (abs clone) i got the space, just don't have the connections! Thoughts?

Can't Boot From Sata Cdrom And Can't Find Sata Hd

Last night i built my dad a new computer, with two sata dvd-drives (but can only connect one with one of my sata cables. Apparently the motherboard manufacturer only likes to include one sata cable. My fault for ordering oem and not checking on the cable quantity. ), A wd sata hard drive and an ecs nforce 570 slit-a motherboard. Anyway, when i boot up with the windows xp cd in the dvd drive, it won't detect the drive and boot from the cd. Ok, i thought i might have that problem (never dealt with sata drives besides hd's), so i just plugged in an ide cdrom, but now it won't find the hd.

I've put raid drivers from ecs on a disk as well as wd sata drives on a disk and hit f6 when prompted in the winxp boot screen. The ecs drivers did nothing for me and the wd drivers said something about it being corrupt or something of the sort (sorry, can't remember exactly. So i've had no luck. I've also tried plugging in the original ide hd from his old computer but it immediately restarts when it should start loading windows. I had to go to sleep because i have work today, so i didn't fiddle around with it too much more than what i've explained above, and that's where i am now so i won't get to try anything for awhile.

What Is The Ethernet Protocol?

Point-to-point protocol over ethernet (pppoe) provides the ability to connect a network of hosts, over a simple bridging access device, to a remote access concentrator. With this ability, each host utilizes its own point-to-point stack and the user is presented with a familiar user interface. Access control, billing, and type of service can be managed on a per-user, rather than a per-site, basis. ======================================

Point-to-point protocol

Windows ce 5. 0send feedback

Microsoft® windows® ce supports the point-to-point protocol (ppp). Ppp is a member of the tcp/ip protocol suite. It specifies an industry-standard suite of control protocols that were designed to facilitate communication between two computers through a serial, network, or infrared interface in a dynamically changing network. A windows ce"based device running remote access service (ras) uses ppp to package data packets from multiple protocols and forward them to a server over point-to-point links. Ppp is an improvement over serial line internet protocol (slip) in its error detection capability and its ability to handle both synchronous and asynchronous communication. Windows ce supports ip connections that use ppp. The ppp encryption support in windows ce is configurable between 128 bit and 40 bit. Ppp relies on configuration parameters and peer-to-peer negotiation to determine how a specific ppp connection will be managed. Ppp allows two computers that are linked to each other to negotiate specific characteristics of their connection, such as the maximum size of datagrams one peer is willing to accept. Peer-to-peer negotiations occur through packet exchanges between two computers until both computers have agreed on a set of parameters under which the connection will operate. Ppp provides a default format for the encapsulation of datagrams, but two peers in a given link can also establish their own guidelines for ppp framing. Ppp supports ipv6. For more information about ipv6, see core protocols of ipv6 and ipv6 addressing.

Ethernet / Limited Or No Conductivity

I've got 3 comps hooked up threw a linksys work group switch mod #ezxs55w. All have been working fine to get to the internet. 2 days ago all 3 would would not get on line and said this connection has limited or no conductivity. I've called the cable company, they said i'm getting full signal, it's got to be on my end. After unplugging the modem and plugging it back in, i'm able to get only one of the comps to work at a time. Even if the router box is removed all together, and only one comp is hooked up at a time, the modem again needs to be reset each time it is changed to get back to the internet? Has anyone got any ideas as to what is going on? It went from working at night to not working the next day without anyhting being changed.

What Will Happen If I Take The Ethernet Cord Out ?

My computer is connected to the internet through an ethernet cord. What will happen if i take the cord out? My computer (a toshiba laptop) is connected to the internet through an ethernet cord. What will happen if i take the cord out? My computer says it has wireless capabilities as well as wi-fi capabilities, but will i be able to go wireless once i take out the ethernet cord, or is there something more i need to do?

Also, i'm using my family's connection, but i want to go wireless since i will be moving out to college and i still want my internet connection. Besides, my dorm will not allow those types of cords. My school has a network i can connect to, but what about getting actual connection? How do i go about surfing wirelessly on the internet?

Ethernet Connection Is Not Working

I use to use a wireless connection until i recently reformatted my computer. Im using windows vista home premium and for some reason my ethernet connection is not working. I know for a fact its plugged into the right areas and the cord is not broken or anything. When i plug in the ethernet cord into my computer nothing happens. Nothing pops up or anything and i don't have any connections. Although my wireless connect still works. I've disabled it when i tried to connect through ethernet. I don't think im missing the driver or anything but its possible. If i go to device manager the ethernet is in there and isn't disabled. Im not able to do a rollback on the driver either.
