Random Bsod And Red Lines In Mass Effect 2 - 8800gt

Ok so i have had this 8800gt for a while now and had to send it in once to xfx before for random bsods. The problem wasnt as bad when it got back but it was still kinda there. I would get bsods very randomly and sometimes not for weeks. So i just recently got mass effect 2 and loaded it up and played it and it worked fine for a little while (i had a extra stick of ram in there i stole from my wifes comp, but it was causing a lot of bsods so i took it out since i think its bad) and then out of the blue it showed a bunch of red lines on the screen and then the computer shuts off the video and needs to be restarted. So i was wondering if this is a temp issue or what. So i got furmark and have been running it on the extreme gpu burn in or whatever mode its called. My max temps in it are 65 and i havent seen anything higher than that. I have ran memtest for my memory all day before and it never has a problem. Here are my full specs:

Intel e6550
Xfx 8800gt alpha dog
2gb ocz gold ddr2 800
Intel dg33bu motherboard
Antec earthwatts 500w

So i guess my question is, should i just send my card in to xfx for them to take a look at it? My card has a arctic cooler on it with the fans and some custom ram sinks my friend sent me. Here is the link to the ram sinks here not sure how good they are but he owns the site so i will take his word they are good.

Problem With Mass Effect 2 Installation

First of all, i bought mass effect 2 three days ago, yesterday i tried to install it, (i have windows 7 64 bit by the way). Thus, i insert the cd into my cd rom and wait for response, it reads it but the problem is that when i open my computer to auto play it in order to install it the whole pc slows down for 5-10 seconds in not responding mode while all the pc is affected by this and keeps on to this affection as long as the cd is in, then it opens the sidebar from my right click and i go to setup it, the setup screen appears(the cd rom is working unstoppable from the beginning of the insertion(i mean the light it has). I press next and when i am on the agreement blah blah part i press next again and then it stuck. There is no solution but to eject the cd and reinsert it again, while the cd is ejected all the computer goes turbo :) and the setup moves to the next part for express install or custom one. I press custom then i configure what i want and press next and the setup begins, it stops at advcombat 1 bik or something like that for an eternity, the solution would be the ejection but then the setup stops. What might be the problem can anyone help?

Red Vertical Lines On Monitor

How can i find out whats wrong with my dell monitor? My dell 17' inch flat screen monitor has red vertical lines in the middle of my screen. I'm wondering if its a bad cable connection problem. After i boot-up the system up its not there, but within a few minutes the red lines appear. I've tried it with my other systems and the same thing happens. I purchases the monitor directly from dell in 2006w my dell dimension e310 system.could it be that the monitor is wore out, or could it be just a bad cable connection? The cable i have attached to the monitor came with the monitor. If i purchase another one of the same kind would that clear out the red lines on the monitor? Need answer asap before i throw this monitor away & purchase another one those red lines are driving me nuts!

Also which monitor would you recommend for a quad system windows 7?

Hp Psc 1510 Scans Adds Random Colored Lines Across

While my hp psc 1510 all in one printer scans it adds random color lines, across the whole place it scans? Well basically the title says it all, but when i hit the scan button it will scan but a lot of straight lines in different colors (when scanning in black & white and in color) when in color just weird color lines, when in black and white just black lines, so i am wondering if there is a way to fix this? Or is the scanner part just broken?

Random Bsod

I just got a random bsod, didin't get a chance to see what it was about, just a bsod and a restart, this happened when i opened up firefox and was really random. I haven't had a bsod for a week, last one was when i was activating a game on steam, i clicked activate and bam bsod. Last one before was when i connected i disconnected a usb mouse and re connected it, instant bsod. I've checked my memory with vista memory diagnostics tool and it said it was ok. So basically in the month and a half i've had this pc i've had like 5 bsod's (some, i don't remember the reason for) my e7400 is stable at 3. 65, stable as in like 22 hours of prime 95.

Random Reboots With Bsod

This problem started about a month ago i'd say. First off, my system is a dual-boot environment, with my vista partition on my 2 wd raptor drives in a raid0 array on my nvraid controller. My xp partition is on my primary ide driver, and the secondary is a storage drive. I would be playing a game (r6 vegas on vista x64) on a lan with my friend and my computer would randomly reboot. This then turned into a problem where it would do it as soon as i boot into windows vista at all, unless it was in safe mode. After doing multiple reinstalls on the os, and multiple driver updates, vista was finally able to run without problems. Or so i thought. When i try to have vista rate my computer performance, it locks up and sometimes reboots when it gets like, a quarter of the way done. It also crashes when i launch a map in r6. And, even more frustrating, my xp partition (which seemed to be working fine during all this) now crashes when i start r6 on it. I tried running some stress tests today to troubleshoot it. All of these would run fine and pass on their own, a couple would run together (cpu and fpu i remember being one, but memory and storage disks were definitely not able to run together). When i try running 3 or more, i get the same thing. My computer makes this clicking sounds, then i can hear this little whirl sound (assuming its my harddrives) start up right after it does, and it repeats that for a while. Sometimes i get a bsod, with "irql_not_equal_or_less" or something along those lines. Needless to say, i've tried disabling the ide drives (unplugging them and disabling the ide controller in the bios) when i'm trying to get vista to run on my sata. And i've disabled my sata when i try to get xp working on my ide.

Random Sound And Restarts But No Bsod

So my computer had this issue a few days ago where hitting the side of it would cause my computer to restart. I isolated the area to be near my sb and found that any pressure on it (gently flicking the wb with a fingernail) would cause my computer to reboot. I installed a new cpu today and also changed how i screwed down the thumbscrew on the back of my wb. Now, the computer won't restart if that area is pushed on, but i get these random restarts where there are no bsods or anything. I hear a slight fizz/snap/crackle/pop sound right when this happens, too. Anyone have any suggestions of what may be causing this behavior? I'm going to triple-check my connections tomorrow. Build specs:
780i, e8500, 9600gt, 730w psu.

Forefront Bsod - Random Reboots

My datacenter recently set up forefront for our environment. I've rolled out forefront client security to a hand full of work stations and we are seeing random reboots / bsod on the workstations. Most of our workstations that have forefront installed are dell's optiplex 755. Windows xp sp3, office 2007, office communicator. These reboots may happen once a day or multiple times a day. I know if i turn off real time protection we don't have this problem. I have logged a case with microsoft but still don't have a resolution.

Random Bsod Errors - Nvgts.sys

I have recently built a new system using windows xp, and it seems to be getting random bsod errors with a file called 'nvgts.sys'. I am unsure as to what can be causing this problem, most previous threads state problems in booting, yet my computer boots no problem, it just randomly freezes and the bsod appears with reference to that file.

Nvidia 8800gt Problem

My friend bought a gaming computer on craigslist, he used it for a while and it worked fine. Then, suddenly when he tried to use it, some weird pixely colors flashed all over the screen and the computer froze up. The only thing he could do was to push the power button to shut it off. He brought it to my house yesterday so i could take a look at it, and it booted up fine, then he tried to open the battlefield 2 editor to show me a map and it did the weird colors thing again. Funny thing is, we could start it in safe mode but if we tried to boot it regularly it does the colors and locks up, so i know that it's a driver issue. I think that the graphics card is overheating, we opened the case and ran it again and the card gets very hot, i can also see a lot of dust inside the plastic cover on the card. I reinstalled windows xp and it worked fine again, but as soon as i installed the nvidia driver for the card it started having the problem again. My final conclusion is that there is so much dust in the gpu that it is overheating, but the nvidia driver sets the fan speed too low to keep up with it. I'm guessing that the nvidia card has some kind of limit on the fan speed, but the default windows vga driver is just so simple that it just speeds the fan up if the card gets hotter. Sorry if its too much information but i really want to fix this!

Grainy Effect / Defect On Screen

I have just purchased a brand new p100-160. I purchased the laptop mainly for its spec and screen size / quality, however, there seems to be an odd effect on the screen. To tell you the truth it is hard to describe, however, i would say it is as if the screen is a little 'grainy'. For instance if i view a blank white screen it looks as if the white background is made of up a variety of pixels lighter and darker than the desired colour (similar to the static effect on televisions). I took the laptop back to the shop and explained what i had found, however, they said it was becasue the screen has a glossy finish. This, in my opinion, is not a satisfactory explanation and i have read reports of some people having screens that look perfect and some that look 'grainy' (mainly in the p & m series). A couple of others say that updating the bios can help; that being said when i search for bios updates on the toshiba site it says that none are available for the p100-160 (pspaa). Just to let you all know that i am running in the maximum native resolution with 32bit colour and the almost-latest driver. The latest drivers forced the screen to go blank when winodws loaded. Basically i would like to know if any one:

1) has known of anyone with this problem
2) knows if this is a screen fault or simply 'how it is'
3) has any advice on what i should do next
4) where can i get a bios update?

Have 8800gt, Add 6600gt For Third Monitor ?

I'm away from my main computer right now, but i was wondering how feasible it is to add in my 6600gt to my second pcie x16 slot simply to support a third monitor on the desktop. Vista shouldn't have any problems since the cards would use the same drivers, right? Would i need to reinstall the drivers? Gaming should still be handled by the 8800gt, right? Too bad the 6600gt can't do physx or folding on the gpu.

How Does Processor Effect Battery Life?

I'm planning to get a laptop for college. While i really wanted a mac, they're too overpriced and don't pack enough power for what i use my laptop for. So i've decided to go with the envy 14 which i've customized to the price of the macbook i wanted to get and it is much more powerful and it's just as sturdy as a macbook from what i've heard. The envy already has a very good battery life but i know the processor often saps alot of power and i was wondering if a more powerful processor would decrease my battery life. Or would it increase it?

I'm not too sure but at this point i've configured the laptop with a core i7 720qm 1. 6 ghz which i know is good for me but i was wondering if switching down to the most powerful core i5 (which i don't exactly remember what it is) would improve my battery life enough so that it would be worth sacrificing the power. And what would the difference in performance be if i were to do that. If it will improve battery life enough and still fit my needs i'd be glad to go down because it would save me some money.

Gyroscopic Effect On Laptop Hard Drives

I saw a video of a guy demonstrating the gyroscoping effect in zero gravity using a cd player, and i tried doing it on my external dvd drive. I have moved it while it's running before but i've always kept it level. When i tried turning it, i was just a few degrees off level and i could already hear the dvd start scraping the sides (it was angled away from the lens so no worries). The problem is, i have this habit of flipping a laptop over when i'm leaving it on a soft surface to keep the vents in the open (sofa, bed, mantel, carseat, etc. ). I've been doing it ever since my sister laptop burned out (as in smoke came out) after she left it on her bed. How do laptop harddrives handle gyroscopic effects? I'm hoping that what happened to the dvd doesn't happen to the harddrive since it's solidly secured but the drive head is also a lot closer to the platter and it's moving atleast 7, 000 rpm. The demo of the laptop crashing after being subjected to a vibrator has the drive head banging up and down on the platter. I don't jostle the laptop so there's not much chance of that happening, but what i'm worried about is the platter hitting the drive head when i flip it.

Would A Video Card Issue Effect Usb ?

I wouldn't guess that it would, but i thought i'd check. So i installed the twin turbo pro along with heat-sinks yesterday, so i've got my eye open for any weirdness. I was playing a game when suddenly the video went out but also the lights on my g19 keyboard and lcd went out. I have a feeling it's not video related, all the heat-sinks seem on and i played an hour of dirt2 last night without issue, but since that was the last thing that's changed, thought i'd check for a 2nd opinion.

Multiple Displays Not Working With Nvidia 8800gt

This problem first occurred when my friend came over and we were going to watch a movie on my hard drive on my hdtv. I recently upgraded my video drivers. For the first time, when i went to the nvidia control panel and selected dualview, then i tried all of the other settings (stretch, clone, etc). Nothing happened, no picture on tv. This problem could have been caused by any number of things other than the new drivers, but it is the only thing i remember changing since the last time i used the dual monitor feature. My video card has two dvi ports, one with a vga converter for my crt monitor, and the other with a converter to hdmi, and out to my tv. Well, after uninstalling all my video drivers, and then using a program called driver sweeper to remove any traces of them in the registry or temp files, i reinstalled old video drivers i know for sure have had dual view working before, but i still can't get any picture on the tv, monitor is fine, and the nvidia control panel does detect both displays properly. I thought the port may have gone bad so i tried both the tv and the monitor in each of the two slots by themselves and it all worked, but when i plugged in two at the same time, neither had any picture till i unplugged one of them. I restarted the computer knowing this may be the problem, but even after a fresh boot with both the tv and my monitor plugged into my card, i could not get a picture on the tv, but i do have a picture on my monitor. The nvidia control panel does detect both displays properly. I have tried every resolution and setting on the hdtv, still nothing. So for example, when i plugged in the tv first, and set it as the primary display, the desktop showed up just like it should. I plugged in the monitor, and no picture showed up on it. At this point the tv is still working fine. I wanted to get a picture back on my monitor, and the only way to do that was to unplug the hdmi adapter for the tv from the video card. As soon as i did that, the green light on the monitor came on instantly, and i had a picture on it within seconds. Then, i plugged the tv in again, and there was no picture on it, and there won't be until i unplug the crt monitor. I have tried booting the pc up with both monitors plugged in, after running a session with only one monitor, i have tried hot swapping monitors after booting up with one, or both attached, i have tried rebooting multiple times with both plugged in, its no use. I can't get both to work at the same time. I'm just at a loss. Win xp 32, 8800gt 512, sharp 42" hdtv

Changing Ram Effect Internal Memory?

No, changing ram will not affect files and folders, they are stored on the hard disk. There are a few things to watch for whan adding/replacing ram. 1) it must match the rest of the system. Type, speed & amount. Motherboards usually have a maximum amount they support. 2) if you are running a 32bit operating system (very likely) your system will only use 3. 2(ish) gigs max. 3) there are different styles of ram with the same capacity. Dimm & sodimm. Laptops usually use sodimm. A computer running slow can be caused by many things other than ram. Is it running slow, or slower than it used to. If it's only slower than it used to be, then there are some things you can try to get things back to normal. 1) uninstall any software you dont want/use. 2) check what is running at startup. Many programs try to be helpfull by starting or starting a service at startup, all this tends to do is choke up the system. Ms office, skype, yahoo messenger are just a few of the programs that do this. 3) defrag the hard disk. 4) blow out the laptop with compressed air. If the system gets hot it slows down to protect itself. You can get canned air at loads of electronic/technology places. 5) use it on a hard flat surface. If you use it on the bed, you'll block the air intakes and the system gets hot. 6) run "adaware" and/or "spybot search and destroy" (or something similar) to get rid of any adware. 7) run a scan with a good virus scanner. Avast free is fine. All of the above things can possibly give your system a good boost in performance. Many people will also suggest that you run a registry cleaner, these have only ever caused me more trouble, so i'd advise against it.

Connect 8800gt To Hdmi Capable Lcd Monitor

Well this is a simple question, i currently own a 8800gt video card, and i was wondering if it was hdmi compatible, because i plan on buying this lcd monitor:

http://www.Newegg. Ca/product/product.aspx?Item=n82e16824236051

Currently i have these cables with my 8800gt:

Am i able to connect these 2 with my current cables ? If not, where can i buy the right cable(s) and where ? Also is hdmi really worth paying more? I am buying this monitor for gaming, if you know any others cheaper than 200$ i would also appreciate if you could share it with me.

Mounting A Usb 2.0 Mass Storage Into Usb 1.0 Ehci Hub

I have two usb 1. 0 ehci hubs (with 2 channels every one)in my machine. Their speed is 12 mb/s. My os is linux fedora core 1. 0. I connected into it an usb 1. 0 mass storage, so i can mount it (via that command #mount /mnt/flash/). Recently, i connected into it an usb 2. 0 mass storage, but i can't mount it. I typed:

#Mount /mnt/flash/
Mount: you must specify the file system type. I formatted my usb mass storage to fat32, and i taped:

#Mount -t vfat /dev/sda1 /mnt/flash/
Mount: fs type incorrect, incorrect option, incorrect superbloc in /dev/sda1, or too many file systems are mounted. In /etc/fstab, i found that line when i connect the mass storage:

/Dev/sda1/mnt/flash auto noauto, owner, kudzu 0 0

Do you think there is an incompatibility between usb 1. 0 ehci hubs && usb 2. 0 mass storage? Is there any solution(a driver to install, for example)?
