I will be playing games that only needs directx 9. 0c(shader3. 0), so i'm assuming direct10. 1(shader4. 1) will improve graphic qualities? But it has halve the video ram than the other.

Integrated Video Card Can Use Ram As Video Memory?
I want to know more about my video card(intel integrated extreme graphics 2 [circa 2003]) cause i don't understand, i tried googling for a while with no result:
1) how much exactly video memory does it have?
2) i heard that if it's integrated, i can go to the bios and make ram be shared with my video memory in case my video ram isn't enough? Is that true? Is that true with my integrated card too?
3) i'm of course going to buy a video card(agp type) capable of handling at least pixel shader 2. 0. If question 2 is "yes", can the new graphic card also be shared to use ram if necessary?
Depending if my integrated video card can use ram as video memory, this will help me decide whether i should get more ram or an agp video card that has a lot of video ram

Video Card Memory Settings
When i checked my video card properties this it what it showed me:
Total available memory 1023mb
Dedicated memory 256mb
System video memory 0mb
Shared video memory 767mb
What does it all mean, i know that my card has 256mb of dedicated memory, but the rest doesn't make sense to me, oh im running vista home premium.

I am seeking for help to improve the video quality of the 22'' monitor. It's samsung t220 and the max resolution it supports is 1680 x 1050. Currently, it's connected through vga with the onboard intel integrated graphics. Say if i connect a video card and then connect monitor through dvi, will i be able to see considerable improvement in the video quality? Please advise how do i get the best out of the monitor. Also, can i see hd content on this monitor? It does support hdcp. And i found this ati radeon 4350 hd video card - which looks decent enough for movies and casual stuff. I don't plan to game on this machine. Is this card fine for my purpose?

Use Dell C810 S-video Port To Capture The Video
I have a dell c810 with an s-video port. You can hook up the s-video cable and then view the laptop on a tv. Well, i have a normal hi-8 video camera, and i wanted to capture the video. If the s-video port can be used as output for the laptop, can it also be used as input? I have adobe premiere but it says that it can only capture from dv sources. I was wondering if there was some way i could have my laptop capture through its s-video port.

Overheating Video Card
I recently was given a xfx geforce 6800 128mb as a gift but there is a problem. After i installed the card and drivers and started to play games like doom 3 or counter-strike, the games look awesome but after 5 mins a whole bunch of artifacts appear in the screen. So after i opened the case and the touched the video card i noticed that it was really really warm. I have never overclocked the video card.could it be an overheating problem?

Quick question, i currently have a bfg 8800gt w/ 2x 23" samsung lcd monitors. I'm thinking about getting another 23" monitor and making it a 3-monitor setup but my video card only has 2x dvi ports. Also, my motherboard only has 1x pci 2. 0 x16 slot, so sli isn't an option. What can i do to make this work? Is there an easy solution other than selling my 8800gt and buying a card with more slots?

All i need a card that is under $120 cdn (also in a canadian store) that i will be able to play next-gen rts games on medium settings without there being any freezing. Well, i have a uber powerful radeon x1600 512 mb, it cranked my frame rate in halo from 50 to 300 almost, its incredible, but it seems after hours of playing sometimes, my moniter cuts off, and the light it shows means its on but theirs no signle, is the video card over heating? I also think my cpu os overheating, i have no proof for my cpu, just the fact that a p4 processor i know slows down to prevent damge, but slowing down is not good, im searching for a new more powerful fan, any tips for each?

Channels On Video Card
It's a radeon x1300 pcie 256 mb card. I've read that there are only 4 pipes unlocked but there are an additional 4 available to be unlocked to become a x1300 pro. Does anybody know how to do this and if it's of any benefit?
My card software says my bios gpu is running at 600 mhz and the bios memory is 800 mhz. Any advice to make the card better or is what i have good enough?

Video Card Dead
Well, i just received a new computer which was put together by a friend. He had it oced to perfection. So i received it and he had the gpu laying out, so i put it back in the pci-slot, plugged in my monitor, and the screen just was black. So, he told me since it came out, i would have to reset the bios. So i took out the battery waited 30seconds, turned off computer, put gpu and battery back in, then i turned it out, the screen went weird colors, then seemed fine, so i turned it off to put in the rest of my things, like keyboard, then i turned on again and it didn't show. Now, i took the gpu out of mobo to see if it would run( the fan) , and it didn't, so i put it back in, and the fan starts, and everything else is running properly, i cn't get any picture though?. I'm brining it in to a store tomorrow, but if they gpu was dead, would the fan still start?, Because when i put it in the motherboard the fan spins and sounds like it is all going good , but it just dont show anything on the screen?

Im waiting on the video card but its there anyway i can use this computer to "see/use" my other computer over a network or such. I have no clue, its a dumb question, cause its like "man just get a damn video card" haha but i was wondering, i know like mypc.com you can get to computers via internet, but i think you have to set it up on the first computer, so if anyone knows.

Video Card Artifacting
The past few days my computer has been artifacting on start up (before any drivers + windows have loaded) and when it does this i can't load into windows, the screen will just go black on the log-in screen. The only way i've gotten around this is by cd booting my windows up and running the repair tool (which system restores my cpu, not that it helps but atleast when it restarts i can get into windows). When i get into windows a few times my cpu has just gone all pink/green pixels and then crashed and i am back to square one, other times it's fine. I am not sure all of a sudden why it's doing this, i haven't installed anything recently. - I've had my cpu for about 2years (nvidia 8600gt) - for the past 6months it's sometimes done this before and i just pulled my card out a few times and put it back in and it's been fine, i've tried that this time and it's had no effect. - Does this mean my card is going to need replacing or is there a way around this?

I am preparing to buy a laptop and need help as to what to get in it. I am going to be playing dvd's on it and my daughter will be playing the sims on it. That requires a pentium 4 or better processor and a t&l capable video card such as ati radeon 8500 or better, nvidia or intel express graphics 82865 or better. What would you suggest:
Processor: an intel core duo, intel core 2 duo, pentium m or amd turion 64 x2. Video card: an ati radeon 8500, nvidia, or an intel gma 950 graphics card (is the gma 950 comparable to the radeon or nvidia?)

Video Card For A Cheap Price
I am building my own computer and i need to get a video card. I was wondering what a good video card would be for me to get. This computer is being used for home office use. I dont need anything crazy. I need a good reliable card. And i want it to be kinda cheap but quality. Any one know of any?

Video Card For Inspiron 530
I just bought an inspiron 530 and need to buy a new dvi video card. It has a core 2 quad processor with 4 gb of ram. I also have a 22" digital monitor with 1680x1050 resolution. I am not an avid gamer so i wasn't looking to spend more than $100. Though i would like to have at least moderate gaming capabilities. Oh and in case it isn't obvious, i am basically completely ignorant when it comes to this stuff. So feel free to poke fun if it means you'll give me a good recommendation.
