Dell Inspiron 1501 Screen Vertical Line

I recently got a new computer and my old dell inspiron 1501 got a vertical thick line in the left middle of the screen and it's not like it's crashing it's there no matter what i do. I don't know how to fix it but have step by step instructions would be nice. And the line is not opaque you can see through it. And the line always has a remnant of the last screen my computer was on. I don't know what to do!

Laptop Monitor - Permanent Vertical Green Line

The monitor on my dell latitude d505 is currently displaying a vertical green line from the top to the bottom of the screen, about 1/3 of a screen width from the right hand side. This line fades in during the dell splash screen and persists whether i boot into linux or windows. I'm assuming this is a hardware problem, but does anyone have any definitive advice on what may cause this?

Blue Vertical Line Across A Lcd

I have a buddies laptop and the screen has a vertical blue line in it that won't go away. I'm pretty sure its not software related. Its there as soon as the screen turns on . It has onboard graphics. It shares the system memory. Any idea what it might be and what i might have to replace on it? When it comes to hardware i'm somewhat weak. Any idea how i can even start to trouble shoot this? As its onboard graphics i can't even check the vid card.

Hp Officejet 6500 Vertical Line Problem

When i scan a document it ends up with a vertical line running down the center of the page. The same thing happens if i copy and use the document feeder. If i just put the document on the glass there is no line. Any idea what may be causing the problem? I have cleaned the "rollers", but still have the problem. If it were a hardware problem, wouldn't the line show up even when i put the document on the glass?

Horizontal And Vertical Lines On Screen

The other day out of nowhere my screen starts going nuts. It has a bunch of horizontal and vertical lines on the screen and they kind of move when the mouse is over them. When i open a new window, for example an aim window or notepad, parts of the program will display fine, without any lines, and other parts will continue the line pattern on the screen. When my computer starts up, it has weird gray images that almost look like japanese letters on the windows xp splash screen. I checked a different monitor and the picture is still weird, so it isn't monitor, so im guessing its video card. ? Anyone ever heard of a problem like this?

Red Vertical Lines On Monitor

How can i find out whats wrong with my dell monitor? My dell 17' inch flat screen monitor has red vertical lines in the middle of my screen. I'm wondering if its a bad cable connection problem. After i boot-up the system up its not there, but within a few minutes the red lines appear. I've tried it with my other systems and the same thing happens. I purchases the monitor directly from dell in 2006w my dell dimension e310 system.could it be that the monitor is wore out, or could it be just a bad cable connection? The cable i have attached to the monitor came with the monitor. If i purchase another one of the same kind would that clear out the red lines on the monitor? Need answer asap before i throw this monitor away & purchase another one those red lines are driving me nuts!

Also which monitor would you recommend for a quad system windows 7?

Blank Screen Problem With Video Card

Im totally sick of trying to put this new graphics card in my computer. I know that the card is completely compatible with my computer so i uninstalled all the old drivers off my previous card, took it out, put the new one in, downloaded the correct new driver off the nvidia website, then i had to restart my computer. When it restated everything was fine until the welcome screen. Where it went completely black. I clicked around with the mouse (even though i couldn't see sh*t!) And i heard the noise it makes when i log in to my account thingy. So it isn't totally broke. I just cant see anything. Everything is black! Lol. So i took the card out (which was suspiciously warm to touch) and did a system restore to yesterday too fool my silly computer that nothing had happened. What could be the problem? Any ideas?

Someone said to just give it time and then the screen will come back. Is this true cuz i don't want to go through all that again for nothing.

Pc Monitor Without A Video Signal - Black Screen Bios

Upon starting my computer, it doesn't always start, it just sits with a black screen not loading the bios and the monitor claims there's no video signal. It's been like this for less than a week now consistantly. So, i'll reboot and everything is suddenly fine and the bios loads up and windows is good to go. Last week i added a gigabyte wireless card to my pc which i believe might have caused some some problems. I took the card out yesterday and i haven't seen the problem comeback so far. I'm really baffled as to why something like this would happen whether it's just the card or if something relating to my motherboard is bad, like the pci slot. The wireless card worked fine and everything. What should my next step be to figuring this out, should i put the wireless card back in? Any tests i can run to see if a component is going bad?

Computer specifications:

Msi k8ngm-v board
Athlon 64 3000+
Xfx 6600gt
2 512mb gskillz ram sticks
Audigy se soundcard
Gigabyte gn-wp01gs wireless card
Seasonic 330watt psu
80gig seagate hd

Monitor / Video Card Problem

Ok so out of nowhere my monitor has these blue and red lines blinking all over the place. If i try to put the refresh rate at 60 hz where its supposed to be, it goes ape-**** crazy and i cant even read anything on the monitor because its going nuts. But, this problem is quite weird. I have an on-board video card, and my pci-e video card. I also have two monitors. The current hd monitor has the problem with the pci-e video card, but the other monitor works perfect. The hd monitor though, works perfectly with the on-board video card. So i have no idea if it is a monitor problem or a video card problem, since they both work under different conditions. The hd monitor works with the on-board video perfectly, while the non-hd monitor works perfectly with the pci-e video card. The hd monitor will not work in 1080p at all. The screen goes crazy when i try. I have to keep it at a low refresh rate and resolution to do anything on it. Odd. I know. Any help would be a great service. Btw. I already tried separate drivers for the pci-e card. I also redid my whole os totally. So thats not it either. I'm lost. Which doesnt happen very often, lol.

Video Card For Improving Video Quality On 22'' Monitor

I am seeking for help to improve the video quality of the 22'' monitor. It's samsung t220 and the max resolution it supports is 1680 x 1050. Currently, it's connected through vga with the onboard intel integrated graphics. Say if i connect a video card and then connect monitor through dvi, will i be able to see considerable improvement in the video quality? Please advise how do i get the best out of the monitor. Also, can i see hd content on this monitor? It does support hdcp. And i found this ati radeon 4350 hd video card - which looks decent enough for movies and casual stuff. I don't plan to game on this machine. Is this card fine for my purpose?

Adding A Second Video Card For Dual Monitor + Tv

I currently have a 4870 and will get a new tv soon. A good amount of my media library is on my pc, so i want to be able to use it seamlessly. Here's the problem: i already have a dual monitor setup, and would have to sacrifice one dvi output for the hdmi connection. The other option may be the video-out, but i don't like the idea because i want the tv to use 1920x1080, proper hdtv. So i'm thinking i'll add a 4830, maybe 4850, this will give me plenty of outputs and also a bit of a performance boost thanks to crossfire. (Could get more if i bought a "bigger" card, but i don't play games much so it's not a big deal. ) The main concerns are silence and power consumption, but those are usually not a problem with that range of video cards anyway. Anybody have experience with this matter? Specific recommendations?

Video Card For 1680x1050 And 22 Inch Monitor

After years of great gaming with an 8800gtx it finally went out and i am now stuck using a old geforce fx 5200. Since i need a new video card for my system i would like to know what is recommended. I would like to know what video card you guys recommend for a gaming res of 1680x1050. This is off topic, but i am also considering upgrading my cpu from a q6600 to a e8500 although i could swear that i got a major performance boost when i went from a 2. 4ghz core2duo i forget the model to a q6600 g0 in crysis. I would like advice on this from other gamers. Is it worth the change for game performance?

My most played games are:

Fallout 3, mass effect, and witcher enhanced.

Hp Pavilion N5472 Laptop Screen With Horizontal Line

Anyway about a week ago, my hp pavilion n5472 laptop developed a horizontal line approx a quarter down the screen, and it just wont shift. Changes colour when i visit a website with colours, for example if the site is white, the line becomes green, if the site is black the line turns grey. Is there anything i can do to get rid of this line? When i try to 'mouse over' the line, it appears that the mouse goes under the line. If that helps to describe it :confused also is it likely that the line is an actual physical fault with the machine, or something to do with drivers and such.

Getting Higher Resolution Monitor, Should I Upgrade My Cpu Or Video Card ?

My system is in my sig. I am planning on getting a larger monitor and going from 1680x1050 to 1920x1200. I know its not that much of a differance but i also have enough money to also get either a cpu (phenom ii 955) or a new video card (radeon 5770). About the only games i play is world of warcraft, burnout paradise, and battlefield 2, and 2142. Which would be the best for me to get, the video card or cpu?

Not that it really matters but i plan on getting the samsung t260hd.

Good Video Card Solution For A 3rd And 4th Monitor ?

I'm getting ready to ditch my x1900xtx, as seen from my other thread, and upgrade it. It'll be used for my 3rd and 4th monitors. Preferably in the $50-$150 range. My 3rd and 4th monitors are used for websites and movies (blueray). I use a 4870 as my primary on my 1st and 2nd monitors. On those, i do rendering, animation, and games, as well as movies. Since i'll be watching hd movies on it, would i need a good card, do you think?

I've been looking at a used 4770, and 4670. Do i need something better?

I've never done sli or crossfire, but do you guys recommend it? Is there a big performance increase?

Fanless Pci E X1 Video Card For Multi Monitor Support

I'm looking for a fan less pci-e x1 video card (not x16!). This is to add additional monitors to a daw; it must be pci-e x1. Can't Uninstall Video Card And Switch Monitor From Digital 2 Analog

Just got off the phone with xfx tech support. Trying to remove / uninstall a graphics card that is connected to the monitor via a digital cable. When the card is removed or disconnected and the on-board graphics is connected via an analog cable, the monitor only shows an osd that says digital. I can't get any display via the on-board graphics which is an analog connection. My box is open! Already had the card out and boxed up but i can't get the original setup to work again, so i had to put the card back in. I do have a registry backup made with erunt before i installed the graphics card on july 12 and also a system restore point, but don't want to have to use that unless really necessary. Can someone help with this?

Video Card - Pixel Shader Vs Video Memory

My pick are these two video cards for my old computer for my basic needs(don't need to burn my expensive laptop). Asus radeon hd 3450 256 mb ah3450 8x agp low profile

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/ebayisapi.dll?Viewitem&item=130409671601&sspagename=strk:mewax:it

Vs

512mb pny geforce 6200 vga/dvi/hdtv agp vcg62512aeb

http://www.Ewiz.com/detail.php?Name=pny-62ag51

>Both almost the same price(not buying from the links above)

>Gf6200: twice the video memory of the radeon hd 3450. Supports directx 9. 0, shader model 3. 0 and opengl 2. 0 support

>Radeon supports directx10. 1 and shader model 4. 1 enables stunning and complex special effects opengl2. 0 support

I might not use that that old crap to play games that needs directx10. 1(shader4. 1) but i might consider someday. Gf6200 has twice the video ram though. Any suggestions?

I will be playing games that only needs directx 9. 0c(shader3. 0), so i'm assuming direct10. 1(shader4. 1) will improve graphic qualities? But it has halve the video ram than the other.

Integrated Video Card Can Use Ram As Video Memory?

I want to know more about my video card(intel integrated extreme graphics 2 [circa 2003]) cause i don't understand, i tried googling for a while with no result:

1) how much exactly video memory does it have?

2) i heard that if it's integrated, i can go to the bios and make ram be shared with my video memory in case my video ram isn't enough? Is that true? Is that true with my integrated card too?

3) i'm of course going to buy a video card(agp type) capable of handling at least pixel shader 2. 0. If question 2 is "yes", can the new graphic card also be shared to use ram if necessary?

Depending if my integrated video card can use ram as video memory, this will help me decide whether i should get more ram or an agp video card that has a lot of video ram

I can't test the bios because i just ordered the old desktop and it will take a while to come:

Compaq evo d510 cmt

Windows xp professional

Intel pentium 4 2. 4 ghz single core

512mb(768ram) 80gbhdd agp slot

Integrated card extreme graphics 2 (circa 2003)

http://h18000. Www1. Hp.com/products/quickspecs/11349_na/11349_na.html

If anyone should know, i have a powerful laptop already and i don't want to kill it by hours of basic stuff this old desktop can do.

Dual Vertical Monitors

I just upgraded from dual 19" 1280 x 1024 to dual 22" 1050 x 1680 (vertical). Before i turned them 90 degrees, everything ran very smoothly on my 8800gt. As soon as i put them in portrait mode, things didn't work out so well. When watching videos, there are obvious scan lines and when scrolling down web pages quickly, it can't load the information fast enough. My refresh rate is stuck at 60hz, though i am honestly not all that sure of if that would have any effect. It seems i might need a new video card, but was also thinking there might be a way to rotate the screen 90 degrees by some other means that the gpu might be able to handle better. Since that is probably not an option, i was wondering what would be a good upgrade from an 8800gt that would definitely be able to hand my monitor set up. Specs:

Windows xp pro
Asus p5q pro
E8400 @3. 6ghz
4gb ddr2800 ram
8800gt

Vertical Stripe When Use Printer As Copier

Why do i get a dark vertical stripe when i use my printer as a "copier, " but not as a "printer?"?

Answer:- you most likely have something blocking the scanner from seeing the paper that's scanned. You didn't say what make and model it is, so can't be very specific about what to look for, but if your printer/scanner pulls the paper in to scan it in a continuous motion, you should open up the scanner and look for anything that shouldn't be there around the scanner window glass or feed area just above it. It could be paper, plastic, tape, junk of some kind etc. Try cleaning the glass with some alcohol on a cloth or paper towel. If you have a flat bed scanner, where you place the paper on the glass then close the lid, there could be something wrong on, or under, the glass, or more than likely something on the scanner bar that moves from end to end that is blocking the light or sensor or the light in that area is out. If you can't find the problem, or figure out how to fix it, you can have it checked out by a tech to see if they can give an estimate, but it may not be worth it depending on what you have, and may be cheaper to buy a new one if you want the scan capability without the line.
