Usb Flash Crashes With Device Not Recognized Error

My trusty 8gb trancend pico keychain usb drive died today as i was backing it up, oh the irony. I didn't loose anything i don't have stashed in other places, but it i am wondering if i can try and grab whatever is there and not corrupt with some software? Most of the free-ware and trial stuff i have tried doesn't work unless the drive is assigned a drive letter, but it's not recognized by either of my systems now, is this a wasted effort or is there something free that will mount it and get what is readable?

Sandisk Cruzer Titanium Flash Drive - Usb Device Not Recognized

Bought a sandisk cruzer titanium flash drive which worked fine for 6 weeks. Now when i plug it into the usb 2. 0 port on the front of my machine windows xp responds "usb device not recognized. " The drive is not present in my computer or disk management but shows up as an "unknown device" in device manager. The drive does work, however, on another computer at work. The same problem also has started with an ipod.

Usb Device Not Recognized

Answer:- are you getting a usb device not recognizedĚ error whenever you plug in a usb mouse, keyboard, or other usb device? I love usb and have 5 ports on my computer so that i can connect my mouse, keyboard, camera, phone, and printer to it all at once!

However, last weekend, my computer stopped recognizing my usb devices! The strange thing about it was that the usb ports were not bad because all of my devices were still getting power to them. I could still charge my cell phone without a problem!

So i started with the normal fixing methods, including uninstalling the drivers for my devices and reinstalling them. That didn't work! Next i tried system restore thinking that maybe i had installed something and it caused a conflict with the usb system drivers. That didn't work!

I read online that in order to fix this problem i should go to device manager and uninstall all of the devices under usb controllers. Restarted the computer, reinstalled the usb drivers, but the problem still did not go away!

You may also see in device manager that the device shows up as an unknown deviceĚ. So how did i finally fix the problem? Well, apparently its a super simple solution! No need to edit the registry, uninstall drivers, or anything of that sort. Simply unplug your computer from the power supply. Yes that's it! Note that this does not mean just turning off your computer because modern computers don't really turn off when you press the power button as the motherboard still gets power. First to explain, the motherboard is where all of hardware of the computer is connected to, including the usb ports. Sometimes the motherboard needs to be rebootedĚ also because something can go wrong, i.e. All your usb ports suddenly stop working. The small microprocessor on the motherboard will reload the drivers and your usb ports should be back to recognizing all devices!

So first turn off your computer using shut down or pressing the power button and then unplug it from the wall outlet. Let it sit for about a minute and then plug it back in. Hope this helps someone fix that pesky usb device not recognizedĚ windows error!

Rollei D330 Camera - Message: Usb Device Not Recognized

I have my digital camera (rollei d330) which has to be connected to the computer by usb to copy the pictures on the hard drive. I didn't have to install anything - and it always worked. But suddenly it does not anymore! Usually when i connected camera and computer, a wizard popped up, but now there appears a message "usb device not recognized" in the system tray. I already installed service pack 1, but it still doesn't work. The camera doesn't cause any problems with other computers tho! Does anyone have a clue what to try? I got windows xp by the way.

Usb Pen Drive I/o Device Error

I've had an iomega 256mb pen drive for about 18 months now, and whenever i try to access it in my computer it says: the request could not be performed because of an i/o device error. I can't format the drive either. This happens on all of the 3 computers i've tried it on. I'm not worried about getting the data on it back, i've got backups of it. Anyone got any ideas on how to fix it?

Error: Unable To Enumerate Usb Device On Port 6

I recently bought two ps/2 to usb converter adaptors from ebay, and they're not working with our keyboard (logitech access keyboard), mouse (old logitech ball mouse with only two buttons), or the laptop (toshiba with 512mb ram, about 2ghz speed, two usb ports). The laptop is running windows xp pro. We've tried scanning for new hardware, and we tried booting the computer with both plugged in. Neither responds at all. The only signs of life are the num lock and function lock lights on the keyboard (they toggle like they're supposed to. But the caps lock and scroll lock do not). Any ideas to get these working?

I've also tried them with my 3 year old acer laptop (1gb ram, about 2ghz cpu, more than enough usb ports). This one's running ubuntu 9. 04. Similar (non)results. But with the keyboard plugged in, if i mash the keys, every so often xp will give a error message (printed to the first virtual terminal) like this:

[33237. 360137] hub 1-0:1. 0: unable to enumerate usb device on port 6

The digits in the square brackets change every time. And sometimes it says this:-

[Numbers. Numbers] hub 1-0:1. 0: connect-debounce failed, port 6 disabled

But i really only bought these to work with the windows xp laptop.

Usb Flash Drive Says: ' The Device Is Not Formatted '

I have a memorex poker chip usb flash drive 1gb, and it shows up fine on one pc as "poker chip" in explore, and i can transfer files, but on my other pc (the one i'm on now, specs in profile) it's listed only as h: removable disk, and when i click on it, it says: "the device is not formatted, would you like to format it now? (Y/n). Why would it be recognized on one pc, but the not the other? How come the other pc didn't need it formatted? When i click yes to format it, it says: "windows was unable to complete the format" i went to the bios and usb 2. 0 is enabled. And device manager does list it as a memorex poker chip.

Usb Flash Drive Error When Double Click To Open

I have a kingston usb flash drive and formatted it to ntfs on vista. Now my question is related to xp. Every time i plug it into a xp machine it will run the auto-play but whenever i go into my computer and try to double click it, it gives me an error saying windows cannot find g:m.exe. But if i right click and select open it will open up. I am wondering why it would be giving me an error with the double click method and not with the other one. I don't even know why it would be looking for an executable file on a usb flash drive. If anyone can give some insight please let me know.

Usb Flash Drive Error - This Drive Needs To Be Formatted

A friend of mine recently had her usb drive come up with an error. Whenever it is accessed it throws up an error "this drive needs to be formated". So we tried running chkdsk and even tried running restoration ( which i've tried on my father's hard drive before with excellent results. This time it just throws up a "unable to recognize" error. When i try to format it, we can only format a 8mb partition (out of 512mb) and even then it says "no" to that. I used the built in windows xp. Chkdsk cannot see it, says it is in raw format (which i assume means there is no partition). My next step is to try some specialized software made for flash drive recovery. There are important files on there that the owner would very much like back (however not important enough to justify large spending of money). A free-ware option would be fantastic.

Usb 2.0 Card Reader Is Recognized As Usb 1.1

I can't figure out why when i plug in a usb 2. 0 card reader, no matter what, it is recognized as usb 1. 1. This happens with my card reader which i just bought, but i figured it was just because it was a cheap card reader. Well i tried using my dad's which he has no problems running at usb 2. 0 and it is still recognized as 1. 1 on my laptop. All other devices that i hook up to the laptop run at usb 2. 0 just fine-even if i hook my d70 directly to the pc via usb it is 2. 0. My only guess as to why this will not work is because i am running vista x64. (Dell does not offer 64 bit oss, so i had purchased 64 bit separately and installed that myself).

System Crashes On Attempt To Install Usb Ports

I'm having an issue with a motherboard/usb installation. Each time windows boots up and the system attempts to find and install my usb ports, just after roughly about 10-15 secs the system crashes, and the screen goes black (pc still running). This happens everytime the installation begins, shortly after the "windows has found a new hardware" pops-up. Isolation - so far to isolate possible causes, i've tried booting the machine in safe mode, but to no avail - the problem persists. Also, i've gone as far to disable the usb ports from the bios menu, thus allowing the machine to boot and run successfully - but that doesn't fix the problem, it only isolates it.

Sandisk Usb Key Not Being Recognized By Ps3

Whenever i put my usb key in the ps3 to transfer files off it, the ps3 doesn't recognize it. When i first got my ps3 it would work fine and i copied themes, pictures, movies, etc off it with no troubles. But recently i went to copy some of my saved games onto it to take to my friend's house and it's not showing up at all. The usb drive has a light on it (as most do) to indicate when it's plugged in and what not. However, the light isn't turning on at all, and if i search for media servers, it only turns on/off sporadically until an error comes up saying that nothing is detected. The drive works fine when plugged into my pc, so it's not defective or anything, and it used to be detected a few weeks ago, so i'm assuming it's formatted correctly.

There is no problem using this usb external hdd in my notebook. Any idea what the problem is? How to solve it?

Error: This Device Could Not Start ( Code 10 )

I have 895mb of ram on my system now, but i started with 1gb? Anyways, i kept getting blue screens and they told me to use a new video adapter. I got a new video card and it reccomends 1gb of ram. It has a vga adapter that you have to connect your monitor to for it to work. I went into device manager and it said "this device could not start (code 10). " Then after some lagg, the computer froze. Is this a ram problem? And if it is, can i just buy one stick of 2gb ram instead of adding 1gb to the current 895mb? I have windows vista home basic 32-bit. Int pent 4 proc. 3. 0ghz. I went into system setup when it booted, and changed the primary video card to pci-e, which is what the new video card runs on. The video card is the radeon hd 3650 1gb ddr2. This is like my 3rd topic, i know. Bare with me, i keep running into like 2 different problems every day.

Error - Reboot And Select Proper Boot Device

I had a few problems getting pc to run (namely, i somehow lost the jumper for the bios pins on the motherboard. Because i had no jumper, it kept running in recovery mode. Took me a while to figure out, too). I don't know if it matters, but i popped out the battery as some instructions stated. I waited ten minutes and then placed the battery back, positive side up, which is what i remembered it being before i removed it. I only did that because i was at a loss at what else could be done to get the system running. Now, the system boots up fine and recognizes all devices, except. The problem is that after the post, an error pops up. "Reboot and select proper boot device or insert boot media in selected boot device"

I had made a floppy that had the upgraded bios on it and had stuck it in the system before powering it up. I know the floppy works, because it worked on another system. I tried installing windows xp without the upgraded bios to see if it would work, and it did. I suppose that means that the cd drive works, but i have no way to tell if the floppy drive does. From what i can see in the [f2] bios setup utility, it is recognized. I don't see why the floppy drive wouldn't work. After all, it's just a floppy drive, with power & connection to mobo. The boot order is floppy, hard drive, cd-rom. And no matter what i do, the computer keeps throwing the error at me.

The Driver Detected A Controller Error On Device Scsi Adpu3201

Server 2003 has the on-board dell perc 5/i for hard-drives. An add-in adaptec u320 scsi pci-x card. Only a quantum lto 2 tape drive is hooked up to the adaptec. This error started popping up and is logged every day. The last 2 people that administered this server are no longer around. I'm not exactly sure when the tape drive was installed. The problem is, i cannot roll back the driver, because no previous driver exists. I also downloaded the latest driver from quantum, which is the same exact one. If i disable the port with the tape drive, the error doesn't seem to appear.could this be caused if the scsi isn't terminated? This is an off-site server, but not currently doing any backups so it's not a hugely important issue, but something i would like to get cleared up.
