Windows 7 Drivers For An Older Creative Sound Blaster
Replies: 9 | Post Date: 06-01-2009, 06:54 PM | User: Format C: | Forums: hardforum.comI just installed 7 on my main rig as a dual boot and i was wondering why they left out drivers for my creative sound blaster live! Platinum with a live drive ir. I have a intel g31 series motherboard and the on board audio to put in plainly sucks. Do drivers exist for this card for windows 7 or do i have to take it out and use the crappy on board audio? This really surprises me as xp picks up the card no problem.

Creative X-fi Usb Sound Card Windows 7
I've had this for about a year now and its worked great. I bought it originally as a way to pass through optical from my computer to my receiver. Now my previous setup is long gone and i still use this external card with my krk rp 5 g2's. Its worked great but i never once installed the creative software. Today i was browsing creative website and i noticed an updated driver for windows 7 for this device updated sep 2nd. I decided to give it a shot and download it. First thing i noticed was the crystallizer and cmss 3d. Both add some "flavor" to the music which i actually enjoy. Second thing i noticed was hey! I can use the knob on my sound-card after a year of having it to control the sound but alas, theres now one huge annoying issue. Snap, crackle, and pop! Every so often at random during music playback (windows media player, pandora one, etc) i would hear this. Is there any available fix or unofficial drivers to alleviate this? I want to be able to use this damn knob. But not at the cost of annoying cracking.

Sound Blaster Discovery Cd 8x
I was rooting through my closet for lack of a better activity and i found a box that says "sound blaster discovery cd 8x" on it. Inside it comes with an ancient looking cd drive and sound card that look untouched (they were both still in the packaging and the card was still in the silicon bag). I can't really find a match on google, does anyone know what the *** this thing is?

Sound Blaster For Notebook
It seems during my last cpu upgrade on my 7811fx i blew out the right channel on my motherboards onboard sound. I suspected there was something wrong with the sound circuitry on this laptop as it has always made a buzzing sound on headphones. I'm now looking at other options to attach my headphone to. Creative has a couple solutions, either expresscard or usb. Which would be my best choice?
I want something that is portable (i.e. I can leave attached to my laptop) and that doesn't reduce fps in games. I also loathe creative, but they seem the only company with laptop soundcards.

Sound Blaster X-fi Titanium Fatal1ty - Bsod
Recently i purchased a sound blaster x-fi titanium fatal1ty professional from a member of [h]. Ever since i upgraded to this sound card i have been getting a ton of bsods and game crashes. What could the cause of the bsods be? Os is win 7 ultimate 64-bit & game that i play most is america's army 3.system specs are in sig. I am using the most current drivers for all hardware, and onboard sound is disabled. Prior to getting this card i was using the onboard sound for my mic and an audigy 2 zs for my sounds and never had a problem. I wiped all old audigy and realtek drivers clean before hand. Bsods that i've been getting are:
Page_fault_in_nonpaged_area
Irql_not_less_or_equal
I was told by someone that i may have had a corrupt hd so last week i went out and bought a wd black 1tb drive and did a fresh install of win 7 ultimate 64-bit as well as the 2. 17. 0007 drivers for the sound card and am still getting the page_fault_in_nonpaged_area bsod. Haven't seen the other two as of yet. Any and all help is greatly appreciated. If i can't get this figured out i will be forced to sell the card for something else that works (card worked fine in prev. Owners machine so its something on mine).

Sound Blaster Audigy 2 Static Problem
I just got a sound blaster audigy 2 (not zs or anything) and my onboard is an ac97. So i removed the ac97(from device manager) and then installed the sb card's drivers and everything went fine. When i go to listen to anything i get 99. 9% static. I have tried to go into bios to disable onboard legacy support (i have legacy drivers in device manager) but i have a feeling i should keep those and will until told otherwise) but there is no option there in the chip options (just agp settings and disable ide pci channels) and the ac97 is auto detected by xp and so it installs itself. And the sb card is as far away as i can get it from the video card so. Anyone have any suggestions?
Add-on. I just noticed that ac97 sets itself by using itself as the main sound card and it had the audigy driver disabled so i just switched that, will that help?

Dell Inspiron 1000 Sound & Video Drivers Windows 7
I installed windows 7 on my dell inspiron 1000 and cant find the sound or video drivers any where. Please help?
Answer:-
Windows 7 and vista don't need the drivers came with the computer (for windows xp). All you have to do is going to windows update by typing "windows update" in the search box of the start menu and let the computer search for needed updates. These updates include video and sound drivers for your laptop.

Sound Blaster Live (24 Bit Usb) Better Than Realtek Onboard ?
I was wondering if using this over the on-board realtek audio would be beneficial. I've had this external sound-blaster laying around for a while collecting dust, might as well use it. Any input? Would it be worth while? I'd be using this with a decent altec lansing 5. 1 speaker setup. I know this card is at least 3 years old, where my mobo is much newer, but i guess that doesn't always matter

Sound Blaster Audigy Conflict With Geforce4 Ti4200 Graphics Card
I recently bought a new computer. The board is a gigabyte that runs the new kt400 chipset. It has an athlon xp 2200 thouroughbred processor. At first, i was running this board with my old pc 2100 samsung ram (512mb), with a sound blaster audigy and a gf4 ti4200 graphics card. Everything was running perfectly. (By the way, the motherboard has three ram slots, i was only using two with the pc2100). So, i recently upgraded to three pc3200 (256 mb) samsung modules. I thought it would just be a matter of taking out the old, and putting in the new. However, after installing the new ram, my display was messed up bad. It went down to 16 colors, with limited resolution, etc. (Also, a message would appear saying i didn't have enough memory to perform any operations)
So, i restarted the computer, went to the bios and made sure it was set to recognize the correct ram, i tried reinstalling the display driver, etc. So, i went for the big haul and decided to just reformat and reinstall windows. Now the computer recognizes the ram and the display is fine. However, when installing the driver for my audigy soundblaster card, the same thing as before happend, and my resolution went down (though this time at least i still had access to my memory). Also, a message would appear saying i should go to microsoft website to update display driver? What?
When i remove the audigy from my system, the display went back to normal. I just want to know what is up? Why did everything work fine with 2 pc 2100 modules, but crash with the pc 3200? And, yes, my motherboard supports it.

Pci Sound Blaster 24-bit Live And Front Audio Ports
Just recently got the pci sb 24-bit sound card and man am i happy with it. Totally better compared to the onboard audio of my mobo, but i realized that i'm not able to use the case front audio ports anymore. Is there any way that i can set something up to allow both my speakers hooked up in back and to have a set of headphones plugged in the front for games without having to switch out the plugs?

Logitech Z-5500 And Creative Sb X-fi Sound Card
Well i have the logitech z-5500 as i want to scare the neighbors! The only problem is that it only comes with a direct style connection (not sure of the exact terminology) and my brand spanking new creative sound blaster x-fi sound card has a digital in/out on it. (It has an optical option)
Now when i used the direct color coded cables that came with the speakers, i can get a 6 channel direct sound mode that is not all the bad. However, i was the best i can get with my setup. I have an optical cable, but when i connect the optical cable into the speaker system and my pc, nothing happens and it does not recognize a digital connection. What am i doing wrong? Does anyone else have a logitech z-5500 that is hooked up with a digital connection? I am so frustrated and confused with technology right now it is ridiculous!

Using Creative I/o Panels With X-fi Xtrememusic Sound Card
Can someone tell me if the i/o panel from an audigy 2zs platinum will work with an x-fi extreme music sound card the two units look very similar but there is a world of difference in the price. I require the i/o panel to get front audio port connectivity for my centurion 532 case. This would be ideal if it were possible and a lot less mess than re-wiring sockets etc. Also would there be any conflicts software driver wise if they were compatible. I have the installation cd for the x-fi extreme music but no drivers for the x-fi platinum are these available from creative site? The i/o drive would not be required to have any other function other than the front audio port connection facility. If other options were available with this set-up it would be classed as a bonus.

Alternative Creative Drivers
Ok, now first off. Yes i have an x-fi. And yeah i know there are so many superior choices, but work with me here. Suffice it to say, creative drivers suck more than my dyson. I get occasional fuzz, my speaker config keeps going mia (randomly puts me in 2. 1 mode), and heaven help me if i change my default recording input (using a plat drive). It takes about a half an hour to get my mic back on for gaming. Googling shows a few out there, but does anyone here have any experience with some they'd recommend?
On a side note, i'm completely done with creative when i pitch this card. Their driver fail has been going on since the sb live's were popular for pete's sake. *Edit* win7 ult x64 btw

Creative Xi-fi Drivers From Website Not Digitally Signed ?
I'm trying to track the cause of a recent slowdown in my vista shut down time, and i noticed that dxdiag reports that my creative xi-fi drivers are not digitally signed. I have been using the latest xi-fi drivers for vista 64 from creative's drive page. (Driver ver. 2. 18. 0008). The card is a xi-fi xtremegamer. I just did a clean reinstall of these drivers to make sure, and dxdiag still reports that they are unsigned. Does anyone else have this problem? The drivers are release drivers and are not beta, trying to figure out what else may be causing this. My os is vista x64, here are the details from dxdiag:

Dxdiag notes

Display tab 1: no problems found. Display tab 2: no problems found. Sound tab 1: the file ctaud2k.sys is not digitally signed, which means that it has not been tested by microsoft's windows hardware quality labs (whql). You may be able to get a whql logo'd driver from the hardware manufacturer. Sound tab 2: the file ctaud2k.sys is not digitally signed, which means that it has not been tested by microsoft's windows hardware quality labs (whql). You may be able to get a whql logo'd driver from the hardware manufacturer. Sound tab 3: no problems found. Input tab: no problems found.

Auzentech Card With Creative Drivers Problem
So i used to have a creative x-fi xtreme gamer fatility pro sound card. On xp, the cmss-3d stereo xpand worked fine. It vista and windows 7, any voices/vocals get basically muted. I bought an auzentech card this time to see if it was any better, but their drivers are all the same as creative. The stereo xpand feature still doesn't work. I have to use stereo surround which i don't consider nearly as good. Does anyone else have this problem?

Dfi M2rsh Sound Drivers
I been having issues since i got vista 32 installed. And the issue is with anything that allows me to use a mic, like ventrillo for example. It just doesn't work, it won't work on default settings. And if i switch the input manually there are like 4 options. (I don't have any soundcard it's all built in) and none of those work either. I don't think i got the sound drivers installed so i checked dfi's site and realtek alc885 drivers and nothing, they have 0 sound drivers for this board. I did a search online, checked the realtek site, no one seems ot have up to date drivers for this, at least that i can find. I'm not sure if this is my issue, i just want to be able to talk on vent.

Compaq F750us Sound Drivers For Xp
I'm wanting to downgrade to xp on my laptop, however i tried installing it before and it seems that sound does not work with my computer's onboard on xp and the only drivers on the site are for vista only and do not work on xp. Can anyone help me locate some working drivers for my compaq f750us for xp?
Also, the video when scrolling webpages and whatnot seems to lag when i ran xp so long ago, could it be that my computer just likes vista?

Cpufsb Corrupts Sound Drivers
I used cpufsb to overclock my cpu and it worked great. Except one problem. The sound wouldn't work. Winamp gives me an error saying sound drivers might be corrupted. Reinstalling sound drivers wont help. The only thing i can do i bring the overclock back down to normal clock speeds and restart the computer. And then it works fine. Any ideas why this might happen? And is there any way to avoid this?

Now it wont even boot, it dont turn my screen on automatically when you turn the rig on and when you go to turn it off the rig off wont turn off either unless you use the swich on the power supply at the back. Please help what do you think i have done and how can i fix it? I have now removed the sound card still no diffrent i have dissconected the hdds and still no good. I have taken the graphics card out and reseated it still no good. Windows Sound Issue: No Playback Devices
Im working on my friend's computer here. I gave it a fresh install of xp sp2 about 3 weeks ago, and the sound was working just dandy, then all of a sudden, the sound stopped working and was replaced by motherboard beeps =p
Obviously the first thing to check was the drivers. Windows said they were working properly, so i uninstalled the device, and let windows reinstall the drivers. Same deal, said they installed fine. Looking into the sound properties in control panel, it says "no playback devices" "no recording devices" and "no midi playback devices" all in grey. I figured his onboard audio card had just died, so i brought over my spare sound card, a soundblaster audigy 2, in great condition, which i know works. Installed the drivers from creative's website, same exact thing. Device manager says "installed and working properly" and sound properties says no devices installed. I then scheduled a disk scan and restarted the computer, it didnt find any errors. Does anyone know whats going on? Sounds like a registry problem of sorts. Or some obscure windows problem. Really dont want to re-reinstall windows, if possible.

Ssd As Boot Drive For An Older System
Can a 16 gb ssd be used as a boot drive on an intel p4c800 deluxe mb? Does it make sense to do so?
I've pretty much decided to install an ssd (probably intel g2 80gb) on my primary home computer, for a number of (obvious) reasons. However, i'm wondering about the computer my wife uses, whether it makes sense to install a smaller ssd on it. Every three years or so i replace my primary computer and cascade everything down (wife's computer, hobby computer, etc - currently there's three at home, and i just recycled two older ones). Her computer is now, in effect, a netbook, since all of our important data is stored on a nas, and she uses the computer mainly for e-mail (web interface), basic open office stuff (create or read word docs, spreadsheets, etc), digital cam pics (which are stored on the nas), and maybe play some music or video. The mb is an intel p4c800 deluxe (no pcie slots, but does have sata, although i assume an earlier sata, not sata ii). Most of the 16gb ssd's i've looked at are for mini pcie slots, or for an external ssd. So i'm not sure if there's even a way to boot up with an ssd on this mb (an ssd for the boot drive is the only reason i'd put a small ssd into it). If there is a way, it seems like a relatively cheap way to significantly boost the performance (specially boot times). Right now the boot drive is a really old and small ide drive (something i had laying around from probably 8 years or so ago). Newegg has a number of 16gb ssd's between $45 and $65 (the max i'm willing to spend for this particular use), but it's not clear if any of them will work. I could just buy her a netbook, but other than the disk, the rest of the system is still fairly capable (decent graphics to a nice lcd monitor, audio, rw dvd optical, etc), and a new netbook is $300 or so. I picked 16gb as the ssd size since i may install win 7 on it (it currently is running vista), but maybe an 8gb ssd would work. Linux (and maybe an 8gb ssd?) Might be an option, depending on a few things. Any comments or suggestions are welcome! I'll even take some ridicule, as long as it's good-natured.
