Aa/af Settings - Drivers Or In-game?

Recently however i read that using the in-game settings is recommended as they're usually more optimized, resulting faster performance and even looking better than the driver settings at times. I was wondering if that's truly the case.

Updating Current Chipset Drivers Over Already Installed Drivers
I generally believe in the saying "if it ain't broke, don't fix it". So i generally only installed missing drivers from xp/vista/win7, with exception to probably video. So i built a new i7 x58 system last night and wondered, win7 has installed all the drivers i need, this is sweet! But this just doesn't seem right it's windows i should be installing tons of drivers especially for fairly new hardware. Is there any substantial benefit from updating current chipset drivers etc over those win7 already has installed? Is is still important to keep all the drivers (chipset specifically) up to date like in the old 98/2000 days. With my old core2 system i don't think i noticed any performance issues by only installing vid drivers but i never have done any different. Just wondering what others thoughts are. I also build the universal xp image at work, and only install required sata drivers to boot. Maybe i am significantly hindering performance or stability?

Best World Of Warcraft Settings
Ok i been playing wow since beta and video seems to be getting slower and slower with every patch that comes out. What i would like to know is what is the best settings for wow in the nvidia control panel. Overclock Settings For Mx 4000
I just installed omega drivers for my mx 4000 and i was wondering what the best overclock settings i could use and get away with. Current:
Core clock frequency = 275 mhz
Memory clock frequency = 332 mhz

How To Get To 4:3 Settings On Asus Vw266h?
I recently bought the asus vw266h and it's a great monitor for my computer, but when i try to game on my 360 the the picture looks sort of cheap, i'm not sure if i'm being picky or what. Now i don't think it's my monitors fault because it's 1920x1200, even though it says it's 1080p. But i heard something about being able to change the screen format to 4:3 if something like this happens, but for some reason i can't change my screen format to 4:3 on my monitor and when i go to the 360 console settings dashboard the "screen format" section is dulled out.could somebody give me some insight as to why this is please.

Klipsch ultra 5. 1 surround sound speakers
Steelsound 5h v2 headset
Windows vista 64-bit
My major question has to do with settings between windows, creative control panel and the in-game audio menu. 5. 1 is a no brainer: set everything to 5. 1, makes sure the distance to the speakers is tweaked properly and have at it. The headphone situation, however, is a little less clear, and i find myself gaming with my 'phones on more often than not nowadays (14 month old daughter). When i then throw cmss-3d and the x-fi crystalizer into the mix, it becomes a bit of a puzzle. I've tried numerous settings in combination, but i still change them on a regular basis and some pro help would be nice. My goal is to have the best positional audio possible while wearing my headset, sacrificing as little sound quality as possible. Pure headphone settings (between os/nvidia cp/in game) and cmss-3d sounds canned. 5. 1 in os and the rest headphones sounds okay, cmss-3d adds positional but seems to hurt sound quality overall. I forget to check it every time i update cat drivers, and i damn well sure people moving from nvidia to ati in mass will have no clue, this setting to the best of my knowledge does absolutely nothing positive and can sap your frame rate to half of what it would be if it was disabled, getting crappy frame rates after installing a new driver version check this out then. http://f. Optimal / Aggressive Ram Settings
My mobo: asus a7n8x-e deluxe
Cpu: athlon xp 2600+ barton core
Ram: 1 * 512 mb kingston value ram pc 2700
Os: xp sp2
My aim is to increase performance a bit through playing with hardware after i depleted all possible tweaks on xp so i started with the memory. In the bios, there's an item saying "memory timing" and it has 3 options:optimal, aggressive, user defined and the default i used 2 have is "optimal"
My question is why when changing from optimal to aggressive, the mumbers: 7, 3, 3, 2. 5t of the "sdram active precharge delay", "ras to cas", "ras precharge delay", "cas latency" respectively do not change when i change from optimal to aggressive?! I am surprised coz i thought that choosing aggressive would make some changes in these numbers below but nothing changed. i.e. In case of optimal and agreesive, i still have these same numbers so 1)what's the deal ?
And 2) is it possible 2 tweak these numbers a little bit - i do not need maximum tweaking but i am looking 2 get some more juice from ram with no compromise 4 stability
And 3) is there any kind of memory benchmark program that is a standalone exe i.e. Need no installation. Appreciating so much all yr answers 2 me especially questions 1 & 2

Viewsonic Vx910 Monitor Settings Changes
Installed new lcd monitor. Noticed when installed got 60-85mz. Then noticed that i got 60-75mz. It changed. I have been noticing that every once in a while the writing or screen shakes every 3 seconds and stops after 3 minutes. Then doesn't happen for quite a long time. Then after a restart the pixels went down. Asked to go back to natural settings and noticed that it was on 75mz when i had it on 60mz and i had 60-85mz option. After a while it went down to 60-75mz options. What is going on? Is it the driver. I have radeon x300 card and ati driver 6. 141066490. I also noticed the last change that i had the option of 1600 pixels, where the max was 1260x. Just want to make sure not the monitor!

When i checked my video card properties this it what it showed me:
Total available memory 1023mb
Dedicated memory 256mb
System video memory 0mb
Shared video memory 767mb
What does it all mean, i know that my card has 256mb of dedicated memory, but the rest doesn't make sense to me, oh im running vista home premium.

Can't change router settings, my computer can't connect to the modem/router, ? I'm trying to open ports so my xbox 360 can have an open nat, but i can't connect to the router. Wireless Connection And Settings Problem
So the problem i'm having is that when trying to connect to certain routers, there is a red x instead of the signal strength in the area where the available networks are listed. Where it says "security enabled network", instead it says something to the effect of that wireless router and my pc's settings are not compatible. It has nothing to do with the distance to the router or the routers password, as it still doesn't work when it is close, and it allows me to select the network, so there is never the chance to put in the password. If somebody could point me in the right direction, that would be amazing.

Cmos Settings Won't Hold
I work nights in a care home. We have a rather old pc that is being problematic. I booted it up a couple of weeks back when i was on night duty, and at post, the screen read that the cmos settings were incorrect. I went into bios and reset the date and time, rebooted, and the pc successfully booted into xp!
Problem solved i thought. However, on booting the machine a few days later, the cmos settings had been lost again - so i reset them and all's well again. Anyway, long story short, the cmos setting don't seem to hold once set. I'm thinking that the battery is screwed and needs replacing - any other thoughts?

I have been trying to modestly oc my mobo but to no avail. I have tried just about every conceivable mem' timing settings incl voltages, but it will not boot up completely. It goes through to just before the windows desktop and then resets itself back to the beginning again. I have tried various combinations using cpu multiplier, cpu freq' and upping the volts to 1. 825 but no good. Before someone suggests clearing the cmos - i have done that too on numerous occasions. Nothing i try seems to work. I'm sure it has something to do with the mem' settings. I have plenty of cooling fans, 2x256mb kingston ddr400 pc3200 ram, western digital 80gb hard drive & an amd athlon processor. Would anyone with a similar setup be able to post their bios settings for me to try or any suggestions as to where to go from here b'cos i'm out of ideas!

I restored my dell to factory settings and everything was fine. I was trying to get my d-link antenna to work. I pulled out the air card while the computer was on and i'm wondering if i screwed something up. Everything seems to work fine except i cannot get onto the internet directly. I tried all the basic fixes like shutting down the cable modem and router and putting them back on. My laptop connects fine and the ethernet cable is fine. I tried repairing it going through network connections and that did nothing.

Settings On Laptop For Wireless Internet Connection
What settings do i have to have on my laptop for it to have wireless internet connection? I had wireless internet connection 2 days ago, but now my laptop wont connect to the internet, or a network wirelessly i have to plug the laptop into the router/modem thing. Settings Utorrent To Avoid Overload Connection
What settings should i use in utorrent so i don't overload my wireless connection? What setting has the biggest effect? I find when i download 3 torrents my connection will drop out for a few minutes than start up again. With one torrent it doesn't happen. What options should i change? Peers? Connections?

How do i restore my asus notebook to its factory settings?

Your system probably has a 'recovery partition', which you can load by pressing one of the function key when you boot your system. One manual for an asus m50 series says that you need to press the f9 key at bootup and follow instructions, though this may not work with your particular model. Of course, depending on what options your recovery software has, this may overwrite any important documents currently on your system. I'd consider booting off of a live linux cd like 'puppy linux', then use a usb drive to backup any important documents on the hard drive before 'restoring' the operating system.

I've pretty much tried everything, it didn't come with a recovery disk and when i restarted my computer and pressed whatever i pressed it only asked me to do memory diagnostics and to restore system settings with a restore point that i had to set that only set it to a recent point in time, which sucks. I got the computer in 08 and it runs windows vista if that helps any.

Restore Compaq Laptop To Factory Settings
How can i restore my compaq laptop to factory settings? Ok basically my computer is a mess and i want to make it like it was when i bought it. Apparently i need recovery disks or a previous recovery point, the discs it was suppose to come with or be ordered i never got to so thats not an option, and there is no recovery point anywhere near the time i bought it. Is there a way for me to restore it, but it still containing the windows vista basic it came with and the original program files (ie. Accessories, itunes, hp health and all of that) the files, and programs themselves don't matter, but i would like the original programs that it came with and windows vista that it came with.
