Weird Lines At Bottom Of Monitor

There were lines drawing across the bottom of the monitor, making the screen look shaky, they were hard to notice but made the screen shake, and it looked like the monitor was messed. It seems to have stopped now. After i reduced my oc's on my vid card ram, but im not sure that was what was doing it. Anyways, i was just wondering if anyone else had noticed anything like this?

Pc3200 512 mb ram 2. 5-3-3-8 timings
Matrox 40gb (4200 rpm) hard drive
Amd athlon xp (barton) 2600+ @ 2800+

Horizontal Lines All Over A Monitor
My friend is having a problem with jagged, horizontal lines covering his monitor. This obviously sounds like a video card issue and he fixed it for the time being by removing his graphics card and is running through onboard support at the moment. Does this mean his graphics card is fried/ruined or is it reparable?
We were trying to figure out why this happened to his 8800gt since it was purchased in the last year. I asked him what his power supply wattage was and it turns out he was running a amd x2 4800+ and a 8800gt system on only 300w. So i'd assume the psu is the culprit. Is it not uncommon for inadequate power supplies to make video cards or other components fail like his did? Also i don't know if this has anything to do with anything, but he mentioned his heatsink fan dislodged from its sockets for a period of time. His cpu is fine though and suffered no damage. I'd like to make sure he gets this fixed because we spend a lot of time playing online games together. Do you think he'll need a new graphics card and psu? Hopefully the gfx card warranty is still valid if this is the case.

How can i find out whats wrong with my dell monitor? My dell 17' inch flat screen monitor has red vertical lines in the middle of my screen. I'm wondering if its a bad cable connection problem. After i boot-up the system up its not there, but within a few minutes the red lines appear. I've tried it with my other systems and the same thing happens. Printing Cuts Off On Bottom And Right
Why is the window display on all of my printing preferences so large that it cuts off on the bottom and right? As you can see, the options inside the window are sized up, making much of the content of the window go beyond the bottom and right sides of the non-resizeable window - sometimes making options completely unavailable. It's not even /all/ windows though - only the ones specifically tied to the driver. If you go to say, color management, http://i60. New Hard Drive Missing A Metal Plate On The Bottom
Just got a new hard drive in from new egg, and it was missing a metal plate on the bottom? Does this matter and should i worry about it. The side the plat is missing on is the chip of the harddrive.

Colors Vary Slightly On The Top And Bottom Of Screen
Recently my gpu mashed out so i brought a new one. I had a geforce 8800 gt and my computer was fine. After i killed it died i went out a purchased a 1gb geforce gts 250. So i installed the car and all appeared fine. However the colors on the top and bottom on my monitor are slightly different. The shade of color at the bottom being paler and not a sharp. I have a benq lcd monitor. It doesn't matter which why/angle i look at the monitor the grading color from dark at the top of the screen to lighter ar the bottom is always present. I updated my display drivers to the latest one and tested the situation on another lcd monitor. The gradient still exist. Can anyone enlighten me as to what might be causing this. Was monitors was fine before i installed the new graphic cars. Is it due to a faulty card? Do i take it back?

Keep Getting Weird Gunk On Mouse
I keep getting weird brownish gunk on the bottom of my mouse, any idea what's wrong? It's weird because i'll clean it off, the mouse moves fine again, then about 20 minutes later it has gunk on it again.

Really Weird Power Boot Problem
Got a weird one here and it’s a bit long winded so bear with me. It goes something like this:
1. I’ll be using my computer normally for a couple of hours. 2. I’ll turn it off. 3. I’ll come back later to use it and turn it on and i can hear the pc booting up. However the screen doesn’t turn on and it sounds like it’s stuck right at the beginning of the start up, i think the part when the motherboard, ram and bios are loading up. 4. I’ll turn it off since it’s stuck. 5. I’ll leave for an hour or so and then i’ll come back and try and turn it on. However, the power doesn’t turn on and it’s like the computer is dead. 6. I’ll keep doing this every hour and it won’t work until randomly when i press it again the power will suddenly decide to start working and i’ll be able to use the pc normally again. 7. Then i’ll turn it off and i’ll be at 1 again. Other weird things: restarting seems to work fine. Once i was just sitting in my room watching tv and the computer just randomly turned itself on. Now i’m pretty sure it’s not a cable problem since i’ve tested out different cables and it’s the same result and also the sound and monitor power on fine so it’s not a socket problem. Also, i did a virus with kaspersky and found 2 viruses’ however they weren’t related to hardware at all, just some key loggers, and they were neutralised so i doubt it was down to them.

Dvd Drive Acting Weird
I have a sata lite-on dvd drive and here lately when i try to play games it won't read dvd's and if i go into my computer and try to right click on the drive it locks the computer up and i have to do a hard restart. Also the drive sometimes randomly starts reading the dvd even when i'm not doing anything on the pc . So is my drive dying or is this something else and if it is dying what is a good sata dvd-r drive for vista?

So after installing a few new fans the other day, i've been having the weirdest problem with my dvd drive. From a cold start, i'll boot into vista and the drive won't be there. Even if i put in a new dvd, it won't show up. But if i go into device manager and scan for hardware changes, it'll come up and work just fine. Any ideas?

Does anyone know why my 4k read/write is so much slower than other people with the same drive? Its a brand new x-25m g2 drive. I even used hhderase 3. 3 to secure erase the drive when i first benchmarked it. I thought something was wrong with it. But even after a second secure erase, i am still having the same problem. Its seems as tho my 4k scores are cut in half than what they are supposed to be. Ahci is enabled.

Computer Is Making Weird Noises
The noise is like "da nuh. Da nuh", like the first "da nuh" is lower pitched and the second "da nuh" is higher pitched. If that doesn't help its the noise it makes when it has a usb plugged in and then taken out. It's an hp laptop with vista.

Weird Bios Errors And Unstable System
For a while i've had a problem when turning on the system. When i press the power button very often the power light will come on for a second as if it's about to start then nothing. The only way i can get it to power up after that is to reach around and turn off the power supply switch on the back of the computer for a few seconds, then turn it back on. Sometimes i have to do this a few times, sometimes just once, then hit the power button again and it works. However, sometimes it will start back up after i just turn on the power supply switch without even pushing the main power button on the front. Often after getting it to power on i would get a message "new cpu inserted, press f1 to enter setup", which i would do and everything seemed fine, i could exit and boot up as normal. That's been a minor annoyance and i was thinking i may need a new power button. The video card went bad and i replaced it and for a little while the problem went a way then came back, probably just coincidence as it was an intermittent problem anyway. Now i'm getting weird bios issues, it will say "overclocking failed, enter setup bla bla bla" (i'm not overclocking anything), or "hard drive not found!" When i enter setup after that message the hard drive is there but is not in the boot list. I'll reset and sometimes it will boot into windows but is very unstable and hangs or gives errors. Sometimes it just hangs on post. It's an asus a8v amd 3200 wd 80 gig radeon x800xt 256meg mobo on the way out? Bios messed up?

I got a working condition controller card (same hard drive controller card but it is manufactured in 2001 but my old controller card was manufactured in 2002) from my friend and i replace with my old fried controller card. Then i plug in as a slave in my working condition desktop and switch on the computer. In this time, the bios is not hang but it doesn't recognize my hard disk and also there are some weird sound like hitting something coming out from my hard drive. I don't know what to do now? Am i right to say that, my controller card is not compatible with my hard drive? Or my hard drive is totally damage due to the short circuit problem?

When i restarted, i noticed the pc was scanning something. After one message to brief to discern, i got a message something along the lines of "fastrack is scanning. The bios is not installed". My toshiba laptop's charger is making a weird noise and wont work. I have a toshiba tecra m5 laptop. About 1 week ago its charger started making a high pitched squealing noise. Logitech G9 Mouse Back Button Started Acting Weird
I've been using the g9 mouse for about 3 months and recently the back button started acting weird. I'm getting double clicks back and 1/2 clicks where the loaded web page clears but the previous one doesn't load until u click again. If i use setpoint and change setting from generic button to back it clears up for a while but then starts again and i have to change it back to generic and so on. So i've stopped using setpoint and it seems to be ok now. Aybody else have bad experiences with this mouse?

Black Lines While Gaming
I have an nvidia geforce 7800gt and an hp mx70 monitor. I just recently encountered this problem where when there's heavy action in the game, black lines kind of flash in and out while playing. Not really so much to cause me not to be able to see anything, but enough to be a nuisance. Also, occasionally my display will kind of flicker and lines will come across the screen when there isn't anything intense happening.

I have an nvidia geforce 7800gt and an hp mx70 monitor. I just recently encountered this problem where when there's heavy action in the game, black lines kind of flash in and out while playing. Not really so much to cause me not to be able to see anything, but enough to be a nuisance. Also, occasionally my display will kind of flicker and lines will come across the screen when there isn't anything intense happening.

Lines In Laptop Display
My laptop has been doing this thing recently where horizontal lines appear on the display. It looks like static or interference maybe. I plugged it in to my desktop monitor to see if it was the graphics card or the display, the lines don't show up on the external monitor. Then when i switched back to the laptop display the problem appears to be solved. I thought i'd post this as reference.

Hp Printer Skipping Lines
My hp office-jet pro 8500, will print however it prints every other line. It's skipping, i recently changed the the blue and pink ink cartridges, and instead of it going through the process of cleaning the print heads like it usually does after you replace the ink. It just said press ok, however when i went to print something it says cleaning printer heads, i was impatient and turned it off. Then turned it back on and now the problem of it printing every other line or only printing one thing.

9.12 Driver Causes Bad Pixel Lines
So i installed 9. 12 drivers on my 5750 and got these strange multi colored lines across the higher portion of my screen and several sets of blue pixels that look sorta like || just randomly shambled along the bottom portion of the screen. When i uninstall the 9. 12 driver and use the default pnp display style the lines go away. I installed the hotfix hoping that it would, fix this issue, alas it did not. Also when i start the computer, the pixelation is not there until it actually boots into windows (not during post). So it's not a cable issue. It is only visible when the drivers actually start. I un/reinstalled the drivers 6 times re-downloading the package three of those times to ensure it wasn't a corrupt download or install. (Tried installing 9. 11 as well same thing)
Does anyone else have this strange issue when using a 5700 card on win 7? Any strange horizontal lines that are multicolored (also only one pixel tall) or multiple blue || marks scattered along the bottom?

His X1650 Pro - Lines On Screen
I just bought a new his 512mb x1650 pro video card from newegg. I installed it and it seems to work fine, however when i move a window around turquoise and red lines show up all over my screen. I have the latest drivers.

Blue Lines Vertically On Screen
Im having a problem where my screen will just freeze, i get tons of blue lines going vertically throughout my screen and my background goes into a purple fuzz color, sorry cant be more specific as i don't know whats going on. I already reinstalled my gpu drivers twice to no avail. Only way to get it functioning again is to reboot, happens every couple of hours.

5870 Problems, Dashed / Lines On Screen
I got an xfx 5870 recently and am getting some weird dashes on screen in various game menus and ui's ofpdr, dragon age. Arma2 is the only game where it has happened in the world of the game. My hp photosmart c6180 is not scanning very well. It leaves lines down the scan. How can this be fixed? When doing any scan, long white lines go through the whole picture that is being scanned. It happens in every picture and is becoming very annoying as i have only had the printer a few years and have not scanned a lot. The scanner bed appears to be free from debris, so i am not sure what else to do.

I have plenty of memory left so that is not a concern either. Did i somehow change a setting without know? It worked fine 2 days ago. Single Pixel Lines In Dell Inspiron Screen
As a bit of backstory, i've never worked hands-on with a laptop before. Somehow, i ended up with one as my primary computer. Please save the 'lolz get a real computer' comments until after you've given your expert opinions. Recently, some vertical lines have appeared in the screen. It has not been bumped, jostled, thrown, or dampened. It's a very spoilt little machine. I don't have a spare monitor to test for a screen problem, but i might be able to jack a friend's when he gets back from vacation. As far as i can tell from previous experience, i think the video card may be going. To be honest, i'd be much happier if that were the case, since i imagine screens are much more costly. Has anyone else ever had this happen? Does anyone have any idea what's up?
