Beep Indicating No Errors During Post

I just built a rig for my brother with the following specs, everything seems to be powering up ok and the system even seems to be booting (i get a beep indicating no errors during post), but for some reason, the monitor isn't receiving a signal. The 9700 seems to be powered fine; its fan is running. It doesn't seem to be the card itself or the agp port since we've tried using a pci video card as well. We've tried different memory and different monitors. We have tried clearing the cmos as well. Nothing seems to be working. Any suggestions?

P4 2. 53ghz
Asus p4s533 mobo (don't know the exact type, unfortunately)
512mb corsair xms pc2700
Antec true430
Ati radeon 9700 pro (agp)
Creative audigy
Maxtor diamondmax 9 80gb

Pc Does Not Even Get To Post Beep

The pc in question worked fine up until a couple weeks ago, the only recent upgrades made to it were adding a half gig of ram and a new video card, both of which worked fine for several months before the computer died. I've tried installing both the original ram and the original video card, neither have resolved the issue. When i turn the pc on now the machine has power, all fans etc start running, but the monitor recieves nothing and the machine does not even begin to approach the post beep. So right now the running total is that i've swapped out the video card, ram and power supply, i don't have a spare motherboard and/or processor around but i'm dreading the prospect of that being the last step. Can anyone think of something i might have missed?

Pc Will Not Boot, No Post Beep

My wife and i have matching custom built pc's. Recently the liquid cooling system in her pc needed to be flushed and refilled. I removed the mobo from the computer, pulled the cooling system from the cpu, flushed and refilled, cleaned and prepped both heatsink and cpu and applied new thermal compound, reassembled the system and turned it on. First time after flush it ran fine for about 10 minutes, then shut down normally (on it's own). Since then it has not booted properly. The indicator light on the mobo is illuminated, showing that there is power. Upon pressing the pwr switch, all devices begin to run, all fans, drives, and keyboard/mouse turn on, but the bios never starts to boot, and no post beep sounds. I am thinking that it is most likely the mobo or cpu but was hoping that someone could post an alternative here that i could try before shelling out the $200-$300 for replacement parts as everything is past warranty (by like 3 months).

No Post Beep Or Video

Recently my pc froze and when i reset it, no post beep and no video (no visual bios) or even beep codes. The power supply comes on and the drives are operational. It will stay like that for awhile. We cleaned the inside. Is it a virus issure or ram or what? We did nothing to disturb the comp. No new software or files. The only thing that might have provoked this was the fact i was running spybot and and switched users on xp and that might have taken cpu.

No Post, No Beep Code, Nothing

A week ago, i had a fully running system that had worked fine for the past 2 years. What ended up happening is my video card began to fail, artifacting all over the place and eventually locking up. I sent it in to get it rma'ed and its in the mail. I got bored yesterday and decided to upgrade my video gard since radeon 4870's were on sale for 170 at my local shop. The card worked great, i played some tf2, messed with the clocks a little bit, watched my little bro play some wow etc. It worked fantastic, and was only 170. Good deal it seems. I made sure that the power requirements would not be too much. The card only uses 180 or so if i remember correctly, so it should be fine with a 500w unless my math is beyond retarded. Anyways, this morning i turn my box on and get no bios post message, no beep code, nothing. It powers up fine, but absolutely nothing happens other than fan activity and power lights. I can feel the harddrive spinning up, and the cdrom drive also works. This is what i have done so far:

-Checked all connectors, reconnected the video card power supply cables (what are those called anyways?). -Checked that my monitors were working (both dvi and vga monitors). -Pulled out all sticks of ram but one w/ video card in. Nothing. -Pulled out all ram and video card, turned it on, nothing. -Pulled out the video card, turned it on. Nothing. -Reset the bios by taking out the battery and using the reset jumper as instructed by my mobo's manual, put it all back. Nothing. -All of the capacitors on the motherboard look intact. -As far as i know nothing got hot last night, i was watching the temps to see how hot the new card runs. When i power it on everything comes alive, but i noticed that the harddrive activity light has nothing on it. Not sure if that means anything. I don't have another video card or desktop handy to swap cards/boxes to verify the video card is working/eliminate it as the problem, but i plan to do that later on today and will update this post, i just had a minute to post so i was hoping i could get some tips.system:-

Asus p5l-vm 1394 mobo
Asus 8800gts 320mb (now its a sapphire radeon 4870 1gb)
4gb of kingston ddr2 ram
500w psu
Intel core 2 duo e6600
320gb seagate hard drive.

No Post Screen Or Bios Beep

An old amd xp1600 system gave up the ghost. I've replaced the psu with a qtec 350w, replaced the mobo with an asus p4r800 vm and the new cpu is a p4 2. 8 ht and changed the memory to 512mb ddr400.connected all the ide cables, cpu fan cable, and both power cables to mobo and the front panel connectors to the header. When i power up the pc the cd/dvd drives work, cpu fan spins, power led on mobo lights and hdd makes encouraging sounds but no post screen or bios beep. Have tried reseating and checking all the connectors but still no joy. Anybody got any ideas why i shouldn't be getting a beep or post screen?

Installed Ram, No Post, No Beep

Well, i went about to install a new stick of ram into my system (1 gb) but i forgot to unplug my power supply, grrr i'm heavily regretting this. I did ground myself (i have insulating gloves too) but i doubt that helped in this case. After installing my stick of ram, i realized that my power supply was still plugged into the wall, and now my computer does not post (no beeps). I tried booting system from barebone (vid card, 1 stick of ram, no hdd, no sata drives) but still no luck. Argh, any suggestions?

Computer Freezing Post Beep

My pc sometimes won't load on after pressing the power on button. Ctrl alt del doesn't help, but resetting the computer does help whereupon the computer loads on as it supposed to. The moments enduring this error the display on the screen isn't turned on at all. All you hear are the fans rotating, additionally the traffic led stays on. The computer isn't encountering the post beep. I would say that this error happens randomly to a scale of 1:6. On several forums i read that this could have to do with a lot of things, mainly on the hardware side, like an overheated processor, video card or even a psu transferring too much voltage. Please tell me how to forestall freezing my pc?

Bad Motherboard, No Display, Post, No Beep Codes

Well yesterday i was playing hon for an hour or so then i logged off to take a break. That's when the computer started to lock up in intervals every 30-40 seconds then it finally froze up completely then my computer shuts down. Now when i start it, it boots but there is no post screen nor display and there are no beep codes to indicate hardware failure. So i am guessing the motherboard is toast? Or can it be that the cpu is fried? I don't have spare parts to test in this rig so i am pretty much sol and need to diagnose this properly so i can rma whatever is faulty. Here is the setup

Amd x2 5000+
Biostar gf8200 m2 se+
Msi 9800 gt oc
Nvidia sli-ready ddr2-800 2gb x2

I've taken the graphic card out and tried booting it using the internal gpu but it still showed no display. Also tried alternating the ram sticks and booting with one of each, still nothing. The only thing i can think of is either the cpu or mb.

Memory Errors

Around a year ago i moved from my first computer ever (got it about 6 years ago), to my second, which was a major change since this one is built by me. I was ecstatic, and got a q6600, a gigabyte ga-p35-ds3, an 8800gt 512, an antec 900, 4gb ocz 800 ram, and a hiper 580w psu. Soon after buying these components, memory errors started showing up, so i returned the memory for some slightly different memory (nvidia sli ocz 800 4gb). This started to get errors also, so i returned that too, and got 4gb of ocz hpc reaper 800. Just recently, soon after moving into a cosmos 1000, every os that i am running (vista home premium and win 7 beta), has had the "host process for windows has closed", and the past couple of days, half life 2 and garrys mod have been crashing repeatedly, and randomly. Just yesterday x3:reunion crashed while i was playing, so i dropped dropped to windows, only to be greeted with "a plug and play device has terminated unexpectedly" (or something along those lines), and windows restarted. However, during the boot, it blue-screened with "memory management" as the cause. I have checked for viruses several times and have come up clean, and i have reinstalled windows cleanly. I was running a very stable overclock at 3. 00ghz with the memory at 800mhz/1. 8v (rated at 800mhz/2. 1v) and now i only have slight stability at standard (2. 4ghz/800mhz/1. 8v) and the memory is running much hotter than before (x3 crashed at standard clocks). So, after that long winded explanation, my question is this: what are the chances that it is my motherboard at fault? If so, which would be a good replacement?

No Bios Errors - Pc Turned Off

My problem is that i have installed everything in the case and turned it on, the cpu fan started up, spun for a bout 30 seconds, then turned off. It then started spinning again and carries on spinning, though nothing appears on the monitor and no bios beeps are heard. The only sign of life is the cpu fan. There is no os on it yet. Any ideas as to what might be causing it not to boot?

Bsod Tracking Down Errors

I've been getting regular bsod's while gaming lately, and their cause has been rather difficult to track down. I was hoping i could get some ideas on what else to try. I can't really reproduce them on demand, as it can happen anywhere between 30 minutes into gaming to several hours. The specific blue screen errors have to do with either "irql_not_less_or_equal" or "driver_irql_not_less_or_equal" and bluescreenview shows them being caused by any of hal.dll, watchdog.sys, or ndis.sys. It's pretty fair to rule out temperature, as all temps are very low. I've tried reducing gpu clock speed significantly (up to 30% reduction didn't help), increasing ram voltage from 1. 8 to 1. 9, . Simple gpu stress tests (like in steam games) don't trigger the bsod, running memtest for several hours reveals nothing, updated drivers and bios on all, voltages don't look out of whack. Basically i'm out of ideas, and looking for help. I feel like i've looked into the obvious stuff. Specs are:

Mobo: asus p5q (intel chipset)
Cpu: intel q6600
Gpu: bfg gtx260 oc maxcore 55
Ram: corsair xms2 ddr2 2x2gb @ 5-5-5-18 (stock)
Psu: seasonic m12 ss-600hm 600w

System Unstable, But No Errors

Ever since first reformatting and installing windows 7 (back on vista 64 now) my system has been acting seemingly unstable. Some of what's going on:

1) various applications will randomly cause system to black screen. Sometimes i get a "nvidia driver has recovered" message 5 seconds later, sometimes not, and system locks up. 2) artifacts, especially in wc3. Once in a few days in cod4. Oddly, they seem to show up when the card is least stressed. Sometimes i'll have to reboot 3-4 times to get the game to play 5mins without artifacts+locking up, sometimes it runs 5-6hrs no problem and never appears at all until i turn the system off & start it next day. Card stays at 40-45c at all times, doesn't even get hot with most games - cooled via ac accelero s1 + fan, so heat can't be the problem. 3) memtest: pass. Intelburntest: stable. Prime95: stable. Atitool: no artifacts. Absolutely no errors anywhere, everything tells me my system's 100% stable. 4) issue is a lot worse on nvidia 185s than 181s. I have no idea what's going on at this point. I just reinstalled nvidia drivers, hopefully that helps. If not, i'm going to reformat tomorrow.system is in sig. Anyone got any ideas?

8400gs Video Errors

Okay so a friend of mine shipped me this 8400gs for free! Since i am currently using on-board video i figure this has to be better. I plug it into my pci-e slot and use a dvi-m adapter ( what it says on package ) to knock the dvi down to vga for my 21" crt. I thought all was going well until i fired it up. The screen is nothing but random square colors. When the screen changes to load windows the image turns to fine lines, still nothing visible and not even close. Is the card screwed up or my pci-e slot or maybe the dvi-m adapter? Asus website says the 8400gs has dvi-i output, does it matter?

Volume Bitmap Errors

My disk is showing up volume bitmap errors when i run chkdsk. It says to fix these errors run chkdsk /f which i do. It then runs the scan upon startup etc. However it does not fix the problem. I have already tried doing a windows format to try and correct the problem. However, this did not work. The drive was previously ext3 so perhaps it needs a low level format (writing 0's) to fix this. What is this volume bitmap for and can i fix it without a low level?

Dial Up Networking Errors

This is an odd problem that's just started happening to me. Though before i go any further i must say dial-up is the only thing offered where i live, cable and dsl lines stop 5 miles before you get to where i live, my only other choice is hughes satellite and that's way expensive. Here is my problem. Recently i have been experiencing difficulty staying connected do to errors being received, if i click on the 2 computers in the task bar to bring up the dial-up connection status window i see the following. The arrow pointing to the errors i am getting. I have seen it count upwards to at least 300+ errors and it just keeps going. Every page stops loading, i have to disconnect and then it starts all over again. The only thing it lets work is messenger programs. What seems to be causing this? I have never in almost 5 years of having dial-up seen this happen so badly, in the past i've maybe seen 1 or 2 errors in a 6 hour span of being connected. But 42 errors in 3 min's? Whats wrong?

Anyone know whats up with this? Could my modem be shot? (Usr 56k winmodem)

Memtest Test #7 Errors

As the title of the thread suggests test 7 in memtest fails with flying colors, every other test passes without a hitch! Now i've tried this chip in two motherboards (p4p800 e-deluxe '865' & ic7-max3 '875') with the same results. At stock timings memtest passes, clock it up and test 7 fails. I'm using ocz 4200 plats and with my 2. 6c @ 3. 25 these babies have no problems keeping up! I've even used dividers to no avail! I know its not the ram and it cant be the motherboards, so it must be the chip! The vcore is at 1. 475 and it seems stable, although i'm yet to prime the setup. I hear 1. 55 is the true max for prescotts is this true?

Anyway anyone got any suggestions other than pour petrol on the chip and set it on fire?

Hp Printer Fatal Errors

Hp printer installation problem. I have just bought a hp (officejet 6500 e709 series) and i am trying to install the blasted thing. I keep getting 'fatal errors'. I solved one (i think) and then the latest one is caused by 'invalid drive e' as far as i can tell i have no drive e, they send you a web page to help but its the same page for all problems. (Solved that one too now) anyone had a similar sort of problem with an hp printer and solved it?

I have followed all the advice and i haven't yet solved it. The last two 'fatal errors' were due to: ". Folder path my pictures contains an invalid character. " Its empty tho' (inc. Hidden and system files)! Anyone got further advice? Or is it time to contact hp?

Write Delay Errors In Window Xp

I started getting write delay errors in window xp mce 2005 and bsods. Now the bsods i think were coming from the video drivers (i was using v91. 37 at the time) but the write delay errors i can't explain. I currently have the 300gb sata ii drive partitioned into an 80gb drive (which is my main c drive) and the other 200gb partition as my main data drive (music, files, downloads, personal projects, etc. ) I also have windows xp x64 on a different physical hard drive but i never experience these write delay errors in xp64. These write delay errors will happen when i'm just surfing the web, getting ready to load a game, copying files, etc. What is odd though is that it doesn't happen all the time but is instead kind of sporadic. I even did a full reformat last night thinking it would maybe solve the problem, but it didn't.

How Do Ssd Act When Errors Occur ?

So, i see lots of paranoia about "over using" ssd blocks - disabling search, pagefile, indexing, blah blah blah. I think it all a little silly, when no one does anything to preserve much more failure-prone mechanical disks. Furthermore, by the time you've reached the rated number of cycles the drive will be far cheaper to replace, far faster options will be out there, you'll likely think the current drive is far too small and much higher capacity options will be out there. Anyways:

A big difference i see with ssd is that it seems that more than 50% of the time mechanical disks fail in a "one day it went whack-whack-whack and now it doesn't work at all". Clearly this wouldn't have to be the case for ssds with no moving parts. If cells in an ssd started failing parity checks the data could simply be relocated to spare space (like mechanical disks do with individual blocks) and the random access performance would suffer no ill. Other than massive physical damage or total controller failure, i don't see any likely cases for ssds to suddenly become completely inoperative in the same what the mechanical drives just go "whack" or put scratches on their media. Does anyone have good info on how current ssds are programmed to handle errors? I see some decent likelihood that they could be far superior to mechanical disks and have far longer lifetimes despite the fud.

Cmos Checksum Errors On Two Different Motherboards

I have been having an ongoing problem for probably the last year and a half. I bought all new components for a system about 2 years ago. 6 months after setting up the system and everything running fine, i notice that sometimes (at this point rarely) when i start the computer from a cold boot i would get a cmos checksum error. I'd reset the bios settings and everything would continue to work fine until about 2 months ago. When i would start the computer all the lights would come on, the fans would run, but it would not past post. Didn't even hear the post beep. At first if i restarted a few times it would eventually come on and work fine until left off for the night. Then it got to the point where no amount of restarts would get the system to come back on. I reset the cmos using the jumper, had the most recent version of the bios installed and even replaced the battery, issue still occurred. I ordered a new motherboard and in the mean time took the ram, video card, psu and hard drive out of my non-working system and into an older system i had to beef it up while i was using it. Everything worked fine for the 2 weeks i had all these components in the new system. I got my new motherboard about a week and a half ago, installed it and everything ran fine for the first 2 days. The 3rd day when i tired to turn it on i had the exact same problem as before. The lights would come on, the fans would run, but no post or beep noises at all. After one restart the computer worked fine after giving the same cmos checksum error. The next few days everything was working fine again, until this morning. Same problem, one restart and it is working again after the checksum error and bios reloaded to default. At this point i have no idea what could be causing this. The psu seemed to be working fine in the other computer, otherwise i would have replaced it already. I really would like to make this computer stable as it is my main system and i don't really have the cash right now to just go on a buying spree replacing parts until it works. Any help is greatly appreciated. Specs:

Old motherboard: asus p5n-sli (non-wireless model)
New motherboard: asus p5n-d
Processor: core 2 duo e6600
Ram: 3 x crucial 1024mb pc5400 ddr2 667mhz
Video card: bfg 9600gt 512mb (oc model)
Hard drive: 250gb 7200rpm maxtor
Psu: ultra 500w (if i remember correctly)

Usb Flash Drive Errors

I am having a few problems with my new tci usb 64mb flash drive (usb mass storage device). I am running windows xp professional on both systems described below. I know that the device is working, because it works with no problems on my older acerpower 400mhz (please see system specs #2 in my profile) i can read/write to it, no problems occur. Tci included software, i didn't install it and xp just went alone with no problems, installed the usb mass storage, and it works. I do however have problems with it when i connect it to my gateway performance 800mhz, (please see systems specs #1 in my profile). I tried as i did with me acerpower, not installing the drivers, but for some reason, xp told my it had errors installing the driver, and the device was not working properly. So i tried installing the tci included software, as instructed, and it installs with no problems what so ever, but when i connect the device one of two things happens at random; 1) the device is detected for a short while (5-10 sec, then disappears, so i am not able to use it, and scanning for new hardware does not help. Or, 2) the device shows and says it is working fine and appears like it should, but i am unable to read/write to it and the device manager for it says "status: unreadable". I have also tried pluggin it into different usb ports. I know it is a working usb flash drive, because i have no problems with my acerpower se, and its a much much older computer. Windows xp professional is installed on both.

Check Disk Errors Vista

God only knows why, with a new hp laptop i upgraded from vista home prim. To ultimate. When i run chkdsk in windows all untagged, reports errors. So i try to run chkdsk/f with reboot. After 6% chkdsk reports error stops and reboots without fixing. I must have tried 30 times. Then i tried booting is a safe mode everything unchecked for booting it will run, report no errors and will fix it, but then reports my windows addition is not genuine. I have to finagle a lot to get to msconfig to boot normally. With fear of being locked out of windows. Downloading the upgrade, plus pc's not coming with the original disk sucks. I have tried to reboot un-checking different items one at a time to figure out what is keeping it from correcting errors with no luck at all. Has anyone had a similar problem and how are you taking care of it?
