Message:- Im in strife with my terrible p5q pro and its realtek audio drivers again. I just bought a new bluetooth headset, the avantalk as1. I have paired it without problem, but i cant get any sound out of it. I understand that i just open my sound settings and change realtek hd audio output to whatever the headset one is called. But there is no other options there. Any ideas?
Im using xp x64 sp2 if that helps.

I use my surround system for gaming 90% of the time, even at night it won't disturb anyone because of the position where my work station is placed. But i use skype, vent and among other voip software to communicate with friends and family alike quite often also. I do have a standard set of computer headset, but then i find the headphone part of the set not quite up to the standard both sq wise and comfort wise. Now i am thinking will i be able to use a bluetooth headset like those people use with their phones (e.g. Jawbone) to my computer and still function the same way as mic analog out? I have a really cheap bluetooth headset that comes with warhawk and a generic bt dangle, can't quite get it to work properly. I wouldn't mind shelling out extra bucks for a more capable one if it can deliver what i need.

It's been a long time since i've looked into headsets, and owning a *great* one i have to ask the question yet again. Currently, i use a medusa 5. 1 surround headset that is plugged into my sound card for positional audio in gaming. It works pretty well. That said - i have looked at some of the newer headsets, and they are all usb, pretty much eliminating the need for me to have a sound card at all.
My question is - how good are these usb headphones (specifically for gaming) if they come from logitech or razer or something? Is the cpu usage going to go up a lot (this was why i went the way i did with the medusas), and are there any real benefits to having a sound card any more?
I don't watch movies or listen to music much on the pc, and even if i do i don't care about the sound quality. I have a nice home theater for all that. Anyway, i was thinking about buying the g35 headphones from logitech but i'm hesitant because of the past information i've had, so i wanted to vet it all with you guys first .

My woman is a school teacher. She wants to give a lecture to her students over her computer speakers. She has a bluetooth headset and i bought a little bluetooth mini dongle at frys for her computer. But what software do i use to output real-time audio over the speakers? Id like to use something free and easily available. *** If i could just do it with windows media player i would.

I don't know too much about bluetooth. I'd like to get the logitech bluetooth mobile pro headset for talking on skype. I don't know which usb bluetooth adapter to get for it. I'm using windows xp but, it would be nice to get one that's linux compatible too. I'm guessing that the adapter should be bluetooth v1. 2 compatible. What's the diff between v1. 1 and v1. 2?

I want:
- Wireless stereo headphones (with mic would be better)
- Good sound quality (not audiophile, but enough to prove that 192kbps sounds better than 128kbps). - Rechargeable (base to place them on or can use rechargeable batteries)
- Bluetooth connectivity so i don't need a goddam dongle. Does such a thing exist?
I/my clumsy friends/pets have ruined computers and stereos of mine with casual walking and inattentiveness. If i could use this for a home stereo and a computer, that would be better, but computer is priority.

I have usb headset, my old plantronics gamecom pro1 which i believe has it's own onboard sound processing. I'm using p35 mobo's realtek audio right now, and i was thinking about getting nice sound card for gaming. Would my headset's onboard processing interfere with sound card/ does it make sense for me to get sound card at all with this headset?
Don't know much about audio/sound cards.

My cpu has internal (integrated) speakers and also has 2 jacks in the front - one for headset and the other for microphone. All this time my speakers were working fine - until i inserted a headset (sony earphones). Now no sound comes from the speakers when the earphones are not plugged in. If i insert the earphones, the sound is perfect in the earphones. But no sound comes out if the earphones are not plugged in. Any way to get my sound restored ?

9 :: Usb Headset Vs Analog Headset

So my beloved usb headset died on me. So i went on search for a new headset. I tried 2 very expensive, nice analog headset but their microphone just is not loud enough for everybody. I have tampered with the sound settings with all the way possible. But there are still people who cannot hear me or say i am too low. So i did a little bit of research and found out, even though gamers prefer analog headset for the sound quality usb headsets are the way to to get your voice heard. They transmit the voice digitally while analog headset convert it to digital and then transmit.
Also non-gamer people who use their computer for phone calls etc also prefer usb over analog becuase of its clarity in voice transmission. Although i heard something about usb headsets eating up cpu or something like that i have never experienced any problem from my side. So i am now declaring myself as usb headsetter for life after trying to make it work with 2 different analog jacking headsets. I will never look back again. Which one do you have? How do you cope? What settings you have if you have an analog headset? People have trouble hearing you even if you are about to swallow your mic?

Anyways i decided to go with a the steelpad 5h headset because i heard good things about it and it plugs into the sound card and is not usb, a big plus in sound quality. Problem is i can't figure out how to plug the damn things in correctly. The headset has two jacks, pink and green. Pink is usually the microphone and the green is sound output. The sound card has a jack for microphones but three for sound output (front, back, and sub. I think). My audigy2 manual says nothing about headsets and neither does the creative website. In fact, i could find nothing similar to my dilemma online. I tried all the different jacks but can only get the front, back, or sub to work never all three. This is a true 5. 1 headset so i don't know what else to do. What do you think i should try cause i'm running out of ideas?

Im considering buying a set of the medusa 5. 1 surround sound headsets, but i was wondering if they were worth the cost due to my lack of an expensive sound card. The headset: medusa 5. 1 surround sound headset
My motherboard: dfi lanparty nfii ultra
I do currently use the onboard sound, which i understand is the nforce2 chipset used for audio. Will this audio chipset be sufficient enough to warrant me purchasing this headset or should i wait until i upgrade my motherboard? I do plan on purchasing a new motherboard before the year's end, to upgrade to amd 64, but until then, will i get the same clarity that these sets boast? Any and all help is welcome! Thanks for taking the time to check out my post.

Do you have a a sound card or do you just use onboard? I have had issues with both and i can't figure out if i want to buy one or just use onboard. Some people claim onboard slows down the processor, is that true and if it is will you really notice it? I always hear about issues with sound cards not working with certain games and i had my own issues so i've stayed away from them. Any other pc gamers out there use a sound card?

I have a logitech dinovo. The keyboard, mouse, and seprate numberpad all connect to the pc via bluetooth via the mouse's cradle. Is there a way to make this setup live from power-on? As is i can't get into the bios or hit f8 when xp is starting. Right now that's not so bad, but i don't look forward to building a new computer soon without bios access.

I have a customer looking for a wireless keyboard and mouse but he needs it to go 16 feet without any issues. I think the bt ones can do that no problem but they all seem to cost $200! Does anyone know if there is a decent kit in the $100 range? If not are there non-bt models like the 2. 4ghz ones that can do that range?
I saw some of the logitech wave kits with 2. 4ghz but in the reviews cust said they started having problems over 10 feet. Any suggestions would be great he doesn't want to spend $200+ on a kb/mouse but he needs the range!

How to connect mobile to pc via bluetooth?
Answer:-
You need a bluetooth dongle. Its a device like a pendrive, you can buy one, its quite cheap. Simply plug it in usb drive , it will automatically install drivers, and you can start transferring data by clicking the bluetooth icon in the system tray. ( It will give option to send/receive file )

I have been fooling around with windows vista for the last few weeks. Specifically i have been playing with the voice recognition software built into the os. I thought it would be nifty to have a bluetooth headset so i ordered up a dongle and a headset. When i tried them out i first thought that my headset was completely broken so poor was the quality. But when i tried it on my xp box it worked perfectly. I discovered that the stack in vista is the same as that of sp2 and this does not natively support the headset profile. There also does not appear to be drivers that work in vista (the dongle is a d-link dbt-120). So does anyone know of bluetooth dongle that has driver support for vista?

I have only two usb ports on my laptop and i want to have them both free. Since i prefer using a mouse for most of my work (a full-sized one, thank you very much) and my current favorite is a logitech vx750 (i believe) cordless, i thought that the best way to facilitate this is to install a bt module in the laptop (i can get one for my hp dv4z-1200 for about $25 on ebay) and hack my mouse with a bluetooth transmitter from on of logitech's bt mice, none of which currently carry the features i want and like, namely size, shape and buttons. A search with mr.google has yielded me a big fat zero. Has anyone else seen or heard of such a thing being done?
If not, then i might be headed into new territory here, and maybe i can write an article or two on the process. Provided, of course, i find the time, money and patience to actually carry out the experiments.

32 :: Change Mac Address Of Bluetooth Dongle
Posted On: 1 month ago
1
How to change mac address of a bluetooth dongle? I have purchased 3 bluetooth dongles in the past with no problems. They are high end dongles that each have their own unique mac address, and are the same brand and model. Last month i decided to buy a bunch of dongles from ebay. I bought 20 to be exact. They were a dollar a piece and free shipping from hong kong. Yea, i knew to at least expect garbage for that price, but it wasn't a lot of money so i figure i'd take the gamble. They are generic dime sized dongles. I wasn't too worried if they would of be horrible quality due to their price. Just one of my high end dongles costs more than 20 of these cheap ones combined. However, i don't like putting all of my eggs in one basket, so i decided to buy a total of 20 dongles between 3 sellers just in case one seller had bad dongles, especially since they come from hong kong and takes 3 weeks for delivery. I tested each and every one of them on my 1st laptop with my phone. Out of 20, only 1 ended up being bad. Not bad at all. They work wonderfully. Wireless range is about half to 3/4 of the high end dongles so that's not too bad. Well i have lots of pcs and laptops in my house. I decided to install the dongles all at once after testing each one, and something weird was happening. My blackberry was getting confused as to what device to connect to. The device names were all mixed up, i'd have connection failures, etc. I decided to take a look at the mac addresses of each device and noticed that they are all the same! Well actually, each sellers dongle had its own mac address. Each seller's dongle were a little different from eachother. In other words, i have a total of 3 different mac addresses because each seller had their own generic brand/model of dongle. I am glad i decided to split my purchases between different sellers or else i would have ended up with 20 dongles with the exact same mac address, which causes all sorts of crazy problems due to conflicts. The dongles work great on their own, but when trying to use 2 of the dongles from the same seller together, it doesn't work due to the same mac address. Is there any way to change a mac address on these bluetooth dongles/adapters?
