Adding X1300 To 4850 Crossfire, Driver Issues?

I currently run 4850 crossfire. There are a few issues iíd like to fix. -I canít overclock the cards while using dual monitors. If i overclock even one mhz the screens will start to flicker and the display driver will fairly promptly crash. I understand that this is an issue with the idle clocks on the cards and i can fix it by using a custom bios that keeps the cards at 3d clocks, but i donít really want to load a custom bios on the cards. Right now i can only overclock when using a single monitor. -Although i use 2 monitors right now, iíd like to add a 3rd. I can only use more than two monitors with my 4850ís if i disable crossfire. So i picked up a x1300 pci card. My idea is that iíll just use my 4850 for my main monitor and have the x1300 handle both the 2nd and 3rd monitors. Hopefully this both allows me to overclock my 4850ís and run 3 monitors. My problem is that it seems the newest driver for the x1300 is the 9. 3. 1 legacy driver:[url]

Any customers using a combination of a ati radeon hd 2000 series, ati radeon hd 3000 series, or ati radeon hd 4000 series product with any of the legacy products listed above in a single pc system must use the ati catalyst 9. 3 or earlier driver. All future ati catalyst releases made available past the ati catalyst 9. 3 release will not include support for the legacy products listed above or any of the features associated with those legacy products.

That has me a bit worried. The 9. 3 driver would probably work fine on my 4850ís but i like to stay current with my driver just so that i can have the best crossfire support in games. On the other-hand, could it just be that those are vista drivers and they are referring to the vista limitation of not being able to load multiple video drivers?

I was under the impression that you could, for example, have an ati and nvidia card running side by side in windows 7. If that is the case it shouldnít be much of an issue running a newer and older ati card, right?

Radeon 5800 Primary, X1300 Secondary Driver Problems

I have recently put a radeon 5800 into my computer as my primary card, running 2 monitors. I have 3 on my desk though, so i took my old radeon x1300 and put it in as a secondary card, thinking i could just use it to run a 3rd monitor. However, i'm encountering some major difficulties in getting the drivers to install. I'm running on server 2008 x64, which means i use vista x64 drivers, but it seems the x1300 falls under ati's legacy series drivers, while the 5800 is their new line, and i am not sure how to get both sets of drivers installed at the same time. I don't need anything special from the x1300, i just want it to run my 3rd monitor at native resolution, 1280x1024, but i can't even get that far. I already had the 5800 drivers installed when i put the x1300 back in. I downloaded the package 9-11_legacy_vista32-64_dd_ccc.exe from ati's website, which is their latest legacy series of drivers. The installer itself didn't detect anything (as expected, catalyst software has a long way to go still, it saw that i had the latest drivers for my 5800 and assumed that was all there was to it), so i used device manager and "have disk"

I selected the x1300 inf file from the directory, and while windows found the x1300, immediately after detecting it, my displays reverted to no drivers, and i received some error about installing an incompatible vga adapter. After this, i had to reinstall the 5800 drivers to restore everything, but i'm still left with the same problem on the x1300 (though device manager now recognizes it as an x1300 instead of a generic vga adapter). Does anyone have any ideas, or know of an even more generic driver i can just install to get this card working? Like i said, all i want it to do is run a 3rd monitor. It seems silly to me that i can't run 2 ati cards at the same time. I hope i don't need to buy another cheap card to do it.

Ati Radeon X1300 Installation Problem

I have a brand new ati radeon x1300 graphics card. I have many different types of computers and oses, i am trying to get it to work with *any* of them! Pc store has tested the card, it works fine, but when i take it home to try it on any of the pcs, i encounter problems. First off, when i insert the card into the agp slot, (the only slot it fits in), and power on the computer, a couple things happen. 1. The fan on the graphics card is on, so i know it's getting power, and thus not a power issue. 2. My monitor, which is connected to an onboard vga adpater (not the new card, the built in one), goes blank. I can't tell if the computer continues startup or post or anything, because the monitor is black. I tried, out of curiosity to remove the vga cable from the onboard card's port and plug it in to the new card's vga port. When i unplug it, the monitor goes from a blank black screen to saying no input detected, and that screen will bounce around on the monitor. When i plug it into the new card's vga slot (it has vga svideo and dvi) it goes back to the blank screen. So the monitor detects the card as an input device, but the device isn't sending anything for it to display? So it's blank?

3. I tried changing bios settings - my bios has no way to "disable" onboard graphics, but it does have a way to change which ones are used. I can change the graphics modes under video settings to say either agp or pci. I have repeated steps 1 and 2 on both settings, neither of which work. 4. When i remove the graphics card from the agp slot, and start the pc again, it starts as it normally does. Now, when the card is not inserted, and i can start windows and get to my desktop, i am in *** resolution, and only 16 color mode. When i look in devmgmt. Msc there is no display adapter installed, and the display for the computer is set to monitor default. When i open up the "other devices" + section, i see unknown vga compatible device. This is with my new card disconnected. So i assume the drivers for my onboard graphics card (an intel) are also not installed. When i open it up, it says this also: drivers for this device are not installed (error 0). The last thing i tried, was starting the computer without the agp card inserted, just to get it started, and then once windows logged in and loaded completely and i'm idol at my desktop, i tried putting the agp card in (while the computer was running and started already). The fan turns on, and the computer stays running (no blue screen of death that normally accompanies a hardware change during operation haha) so now i assume that it's connected and everything is running. So i went back into devmgmt but could not find any other devices other then the initial "unknown vga compatible device". There is nothing under monitor, nothing under unknown devices. I tried the add hardware wizard, i tried clicking "scan for hardware changes", nothing. So i tried to install the ati radeon x1300 drivers anyway, whether it detected the card or not, i was hoping i could just put them on there, and try to restart, and maybe once the drivers where there, it would detect my card. But when i try to install catalyst, the complete error message is "setup was unable to find components that can be installed on your current hardware or software configuration. Please make sure you have the required hardware or software. "

So i assume now that i cannot even install the drivers, unless the card is recognized by devmgmt. Where should i proceed? I've read a couple things about the card, and about onboard vga graphics getting in the way. I think i read somewhere that if you can't disable onboard graphics in bios that maybe there is a jumper on the motherboard? Would that allow me to use the agp card from startup without getting a blank screen?

And how come on all the ati help tutorials and faq it says i should be able to plug in my agp card and start windows even when onboard graphics are on? I think i'm understanding that it should still start, and just recognized two graphics cards installed, but mine doesn't, it just has blank screen and startup doesn't continue. Any help/ideas?

Ati Radeon X1300 512mb Problem

Okay, i have a ati radeon x1300 512mb video card, and its giving me problems now. The problem is, when i go to turn on my computer, the monitor power button light turns orange and the screen reads "auto detect - entering power save mode". I found out it was a problem with the video card because when i remove the video card and plug the monitor cord into the back of the computer it works. The weird thing, is sometimes when i put it back in, it will like like magically work. But if i ever need to shut down the pc, it will not work again for the next 50 tries. What could be wrong with the video card, is it fixable?

Diamond Ati Radeon X1300 Agp Problem

Well i just bought the "diamond viper ati radeon x1300 agp 512mb" and i tried to install it. So i plugged everything and started my computer, it got stuck and i had to put my old card back. So i un-installed all the display drivers and others. I put my new card in and it worked and the "found new hardware" showed up and it doesn't have any drivers for it so i put in the cd that came with the video card and installed everything. I go into the device manager and see that there is a yellow exclamation mark beside it, in the properties it says "the drivers for this device are not installed. [Code 28]

To reinstall the drivers for this device, click reinstall driver. " I reinstalled it and it was still the same. Anyone know why this is happening?

Radeon X1300 Card Fullscreen Video Problem

I'm having a problem with a new x1300 card that i bought today. I have a tv set to the secondary display on this setup (through clone view) and i'm trying to run video at full screen on the tv. In the catalyst control center i have "in theater mode (full screen)" selected under "overlay video mode" and "scale to full screen" selected under "theater mode settings". Before anyone mentions it, i know the drivers are in beta and it may be a problem with the drivers, but i was interested if anyone knew a fix for this, am i missing something. Been searching for hours now for this solution and it seems i'm the only one having this problem so i hope it's just some oversight on my part, but this is the first time i've messed with a radeon card since back in the rage128 days. Oh btw, i have the latest drivers from ati installed (8. 31. 100. 3. 2. 1). I have tried running full screen on windows media player and quicktime. Haven't tried winamp yet, but since changing the settings in the ccc don't update the monitors (like i'm used to with nvidia) then i'm thinking it's something i'm doin wrong.

4850 Drivers For Windows 7

I'm running windows 7 ultimate x64, with my 4850. I downloaded and installed the catalyst 9. 8 drivers, and they appear in my add/remove programs list, but i'm still thinking that my windows update drivers are the ones actually in use. In device manager, the driver date for the card is back in april. For those running the actual 9. 8 drivers, what is the date showing in device manager, and do you have a system tray icon? I don't, which leads me to believe that i'm actually still using the windows update drivers. Edit: they are dated 4/28/2009 and list the driver version as 8. 612. 0. 0. That's the same date and version as my windows update drivers for a 3450 on my work tower.

Adding A Router

Downstairs i have one of those all-in-one modem/router combos from comcast hooked up to an xp pc, that is, it is one box that is both the modem and the router. Upstairs are my xbox 360 and vista computer, both of which have their own wireless adapters. I constantly have problems with online services with these two, primarily with the 360 for xbox live. I have done multiple things to try and fix this, including placing my xbox 360 in the dmz of the router and opening the xbox live ports. The main problem with my 360 seems to be that it takes a long while to find any games and often puts me with the same group of people even when restarting the searches multiple times (i have checked, and there are millions of people playing these games - modern warfare 2 and gears of war 2 - online, so it is not a lack of people playing them). This is especially weird because my nat type is open. Another strange thing is that while browsing my router's settings to see which computers are connected to the network, the 360 is often (but not always) not listed despite being on xbox live when browsing. I've also had many nuisances with my vista's connection. Question: at this point i believe that my modem/router combo is a piece of you know what and i'm wondering if i can connect a second router without having to buy a separate modem as well? What are my options?

4850 And Bsod When Using Triple Screens

I have had a triple screen setup for a few months now but i did little to no gaming so my 4850's were rarely in cf mode and on the rare chance i would need cf it worked great and i would switch back to my triple screen after wards without any issue. I have been doing a lot of gaming these past few weeks and that means i have been switching from cf mode very often but when i do it more than a few times i get a bsod. Gaming is great and no odd crashes or anything that would indicate that my cards are faulty. I am currently on 9. 9cats but i tried different versions to try and fix this but no luck. I don't get bsod's when switching cf modes but when i enable the other monitors. Sometimes it crashes when i enable the second monitor and sometimes when i enable the third one. I use 3 samsung 2343bwx monitors and i run everything under xp. Am i doing something wrong?

How To Update Ati Hd 4850 Drivers?

Well, i play a game called: battlefield bad company 2 [pc] version. But the loading screen for matches/levels is taking too long, i was playing with a friend while talking through skype, and all my pc specs are better than his but still he would load and actually be in the game faster than me. Well, i went to try to find some solutions using google, and i found out that i have to install the new ati catalyst drivers, well atm. I already have the ati catalyst program, but when i download and install the new ones, am i supposed to uninstall/delete the old ati drivers/catalyst before downloading/installing the new ones? Or can i just leave the program open without doing anything and just go on and download/install the newest drivers?

The reason i'm asking this is to make sure that i won't be using the old drivers without knowing or maybe some things would go wrong and stuff. I just like to have a clean hdd. Well, i hope i will be answered soon enough! Because i feel like playing without the long loading screens.

Imac With I7 And Ati Hd 4850 M 512mb

Imac 27" with i7 and ati hd 4850m 512mb a good gaming machine? I really wanna buy this imac, but the thing holding me back is the gpu. I heard mixed reviews, many saying it's a good card, others saying it's a bad card. To make clear. I want this rig to play all of the games at 1920x1080 medium to high quality. Except of course games like crysis or metro 2033 (for these, maybe 1600x1200 medium-high quality). I want decent and playable frame-rates. I know i can't upgrade anything in the imac, so that's why i am asking. A friend of mine has a desktop 9800gt 1gb and can do all the things i mentioned. Will this card play any game that has come out and will come out in the future, at a good frame-rate with good settings? I don't want to get a pc again, so don't tell me to. I will game on windows with bootcamp, so don't tell me "how many mac games are there to game on a mac?". P. S. Some gameplay footage, or benchmarks would be appreciated.

Adding 5.25 Disk Drive

I have a few older 5. 25 " disks from which i would like to copy or extract the contained data. Currently, i have no operative drive to complete that task. I have recently acquired an ast bravo lc 6233 1. 6 gig machine which functions very well and has windows me os. This machine has one 3 1/2 " 1. 44mb disk drive and one cd drive. I have not opened the machine as yet. Space is available to add another drive. My understanding is that the last windows os that would support a 5. 25 " disk drive is windows 95. 1. My questions are these - will windows millenium, win98, or winxp support a 5. 25 disk drive?

2. If not, must i uninstall windows me and replace the os with windows 95? Fdisk, partition and install windows 95 in a partition ? Best way?

3. Can a 5. 25 " dirve be placed on the same cable as a 3 1/2 disk dirve ?

4. If not, what is the best way to add a 5. 25 " disk drive ?

5. Can either one serve as drive a or does it matter ?

6. Other than 'adding' the hardware, is reconfiguration a problem?

7. Is the above possible or am i just whistling in dixie and forget it?

Problem Adding New Ram To Pc

I have an old pc with the intel d865perl motherboard. It currently has 512mb ddr ram, pc3200. Then a friend gave me his unused 1gig ddr and put it in. But the system on start up said something like the spd needs to be set up, or something (i can't exactly remember), and that it was switching to the original 512mb at lowest speeds. The pc booted, and it cannot detect the 1gig ram. I've tried swapping it on the other slots, no dice. Then i tried removing the 512mb, leaving behind the 1gig ram. The pc then won't boot. After replacing the original ram, i ran cpu-z as per someone's advice to see if, and it was able to detect the new ram, and it does (it turns out to be pc2700). I'm not very much knowledgeable about this stuff, so can someone help me with this. Why can't my system detect this ram?

Ps: the new ram isn't broken or anything, as we replaced it on my friend's pc, and it worked just fine there. I think "set up the spd" means tinkering with the bios.

3 Monitor With Crossfire

I've been doing as much reading on this subject as i can. From what i understand. Crossfire no matter what will only let you use 2 monitors and will stretch (gamplay wise) the game over the two screens. I want three monitors for one computer. I am building i7 920 with two 4890s. From what i gather, to get what i want, i'll need the 4890s in cf to get the gaming performance i want, and i'll need an additional 48xx card to get the two extra monitors so i do not stretch the screen. I'll be using the acer h233h (or some variation of this model whether it's the x233, etc). I only want to game on one screen. For my business i have photoshops and proprietary printing software for my giant equipment, if i could game on the middle screen and have my photoshop/firefox/print program etc on the other two screens i'd be happy. To make this simple. In order to have 4890s in crossfire, not stretch the game screen and have three monitors i'll need another dual head card yes?

Ati-driver-installer-9-1-x86. X86_64. Run -buildpkg ubuntu/8. 10

This created a lot of . Deb files and i am not sure what needs to be done with them? So any help is greatly appreciated. Can't wait to get my 3 monitor system up and running in linux.

Sapphire Radeon Hd 4850 - Emachine Et1331-02

My computer only has one visible power slot for a graphics card with two connectors? My computer model is an emachine et1331-02. As i've already had enough trouble breaking open the back of the case's metal slots (problem described here: http://www.Tomshardware.com/forum/284059-33-cant-insert-video-card-emachine), now another problem arises. I'm only 14, and i don't know too much about computers themselves. I recently got this new graphics card to enhance my computer, a sapphire radeon hd 4850, and its power connector has two individual slots, and in my machine, i can only see one visible slot to plug it in. Do i need both to power the card? If not, which one do i use (one has 3 wires connected and the other has 5)? And if i do need both. I only have one slot.
