Internet Keeps Disconnecting
Modem is motorola sbg900 isp is telstra if any of this helps. I recently forwarded my ports for my xbox 360 and ever since my desktop computer has been having fits. My internet disconnects every 10-14 minutes or so and reconnects after about 10 seconds. Really annoying. I enabled dmz and i made the dmz host my computer. Is this bad? I also have an option to pick the xbox as dmz host? Is it necessary to change it to something else?

Why Does Wireless Keep Disconnecting ?
Why does my wireless keep disconnecting ? I have set up a wireless d-link home network and have had it for several month now. However every week or so, i loose my wireless connection and and none of my devices (iphone, ps3) will connect anymore and i have to re-enter the wep key on to all my devices to get them working again. Pc Is Freezing 3 Minutes After Booting
My pc is freezing 3 minutes after booting it. I just replaced the power suppy i found that the fan died-out! Could it be the processor or the hd? The processor is a p4 and the hd is only a 20gb. This computer worked flawless for more than 6 years. How can i check whats wrong with it? I dont think i have any spyware or a virus i have checked everywhere.

My rig has some very odd bootup problems. After it boots and starts, it will freeze after 1-10 minutes (in winxp) and i have to restart it and then it will run fine for hours or days. Does anybody know what could be the problem?

Windows Xp Loads In 30 Minutes
When i start my computer the intel motherboard screen comes up but the os does not load. I wait and wait but the os (windows xp sp2) won't load. I am forced to shut down (by pressing down the cpu button for a few seconds) and the funny thing is that after 30 minutes or so, the os loads as if nothing is wrong with my computer !

Computer Keeps Shutting Off After Few Minutes
My computer was working fine yesterday, all day, and now i can't have it on for more than 10 minutes without it randomly shutting down. It's not a problem with the wall socket because my monitor stays on the whole time, so i figure it's a problem with the tower. Here's what i've done since last night:
1. Put the side panel back on. 2. Moved it to my dorm room. I haven't checked for any loose connections, but that could be it. I figure either one/some of the connections is just barely hanging in, or one of the parts is overheating. That could be because either a heatsink misaligned in transit to my dorm or the side panel is cutting off ventilation.

Within 5 Minutes The System Freezes Up
Every time i turn it on, it boots up as normal. Usually within 5 minutes or so the system freezes up. Sometimes, the computer automatically restarts. Other times, the computer will freeze and, if i'm playing music, my speakers will emit a grinding noise, and i will have to manually turn it off. This usually happens between 1 and 3 times before the computer will turn on and be stable. Has anyone had a similiar problem? Any suggestions? I returned it to the store i bought it at and they were unable to fix it. I'm running a 1. 15 amd athlon with 256 mb ram.

Mouse Buttons Non Functional After 5 Or 10 Minutes
This past couple of days i've been reformatting and re-installing windows and tweaking my partition sizes. However, yesterday evening, after finishing loading up windows xp and in the middle of loading my programs my mouse buttons just stopped working for no apparent reason. The cursor movement works just fine but the buttons are non responsive. I reformated and reinstalled windows again this morning thinking everything will be fine but low and behold during my program load up the buttons packed up again after about 5 or 10 minutes. Any ideas?

Hard Disk Crashing On Every Five Minutes

Yesterday i formatted my pc, so i could add a smaller system drive, and then use 3 ide hdd's and 1 dvd-rw. Heres the setup i did:
Primary ide master - system drive
Primary ide slave - applications drive (empty)
Secondary ide master - docs drive (half full/half empty, up2u)
Secondary ide slave - dvd-rw

My monitor that came with my win98 dell computer, takes now about 6 or 7 minutes to open. I upgraded to winxp, it now takes about about 4 or 5 minutes. Someone suggested to test and find out if it's the monitor or the computer. I borrowed a laptop but didn't know how to do it. A kind person suggested the following:
"Right click on the screen, choose properties/settings/advanced, look for your graphic card or video card then you should see the 2 icons for the 2 monitors. Switch over to the main monitor from there by clicking on the monitor icon at the rear of the two and dragging it to the front. " I followed the above but didn't see any "graphic card or video card" so i'm stuck now.

I'd been having a problem with crashing to blue screen and getting the error of "irql is not less or equal to" for about a year. Now for the past 3 days my computer has started completely freezing either as soon as my desktop shows or 10-15min after startup. The only major change i've done is adding a second hard drive last weekend. But as stated, i didn't start having this problem till about 3 days ago, so i'm pretty sure it isn't the additional hard drive i added. Any help is appreciated. At this point i'm thinking that my only option is to just reformat.

Consensus On Disconnecting Usb Drives
Don't know if i'm rehashing old topics or not, but i would like to know what is the general consensus on the proper method of disconnecting usb drives?
I believe if it's not in the middle of a read/write operation then it's perfectly ok to jusy disconnect the cable. Some claim if you don't stop the device via the task bar then it causes drive issues, otherwise why would it be there?
I disagree, but i've been known to be wrong before.

Wireless Connection Connecting And Disconnecting
A few months a go i upgraded my pc from xp to windows 7, my pc never seems to like windows 7 so after a few months i have gone back to xp. My problem is since going back to xp my computer is connecting and disconnecting from the wireless network every few seconds. My wireless dongle is working perfect in every one elses pc and one of those is on xp. And every one else is connected wirelessly with no problem either. I ant go back to windows 7 as i no longer have the disc, so could my settings be wrong.

- Make sure you have enough bandwidth, close programs that use a lot of bandwidth, restart the modem router and the computer. - Enable the built in web messenger of your hot-mail account by doing this: log on your mail, go to inbox, on the left click on messenger, enable it. - Log on msn and go to: tools -> options, "sign in" tab, unable the feature "close session in all other locations when i log on messenger", apply/ok.

How do i stop my computer from frequently disconnecting from the internet? I recently had to wipe and reload my computer and install vista and all my drivers, which i did correctly. I have 7 computers connected to my internet printer. I recently purchased another network printer that i was going to connect as an internet printer like the other. Both are hp p2035n printers. The very second i plug the ethernet cable into the second printer, all 7 of my computers lose their internet connection. Can somebody explain this to me, and what i can do to fix this. I need this second computer asap. Also, my first internet printer (the one that works) gets an internal ip when i check it's connection, but when i plug the second in (after the other computers lose their connection) the new printer shows an external ip.

I recently upgraded my computer from windows vista to 7. Before upgrading, the compatibility report said that windows mail was not included in windows 7. So as soon as the upgrade was finished, i went to microsoft's website and downloaded windows live mail. Don't tell me to disconnect the cord i already know that. Does anyone know how to disconnect an internet network from a ethernet computer? I used to have an external hdd with a separate electrical outlet to power it and even though it was a little bulky but this design was comfortable to me because i'm always very interested to disconnect the drive after any backup i need by using a "power switch outlet" with on/off keys where pressing the button connects power to the drive and windows xp sees it and vice versa without any need to physically removing/attaching any thing. P. S. I do this to prolong the drive's lifetime and to keep it away from any possible problems occurring to my pc. Etc. My compaq presario 2700us laptop shuts down cold after about ten or fifteen minutes. Other times it boots partially and then shuts down cold. I have reinstalled all the compaq "quick restore" software but stiil shuts down.could this be defective ram or what?

Will Constantly Connecting / Disconnecting Damaged Usb Cables ?
I've been told that after some time usb cables stop function. A friend of mine had a usb cable extension from his tower to his table to easily attach/remove his usb flash drive. After 6 months or so, the cable stopped working. Does this happen with all usb cables?
I just bought a usb modem that has one end of its usb cable permanently attached to it. http://www.Allieddata.com/asp/products_product.asp?Menu=products&productid=139&brandid=2
I'm worried about the longevity of my modem because of this. Would it be a good idea to have the modem disconnected when not using it, or could the constant connecting/disconnecting harm the usb connector?

Stop Usb Devices From Spontaneously Disconnecting And Reconnecting
How can i stop my usb devices from spontaneously disconnecting and reconnecting ? There are times when all my usb devices will spontaneously disconnect and reconnect a second later. I get that sound/beep when it disconnects and reconnects. If i was moving my usb mouse while it disconnected and reconnected, the cursor suddenly jumps to around where i moved it. This problem seems to occur for all devices: my usb mouse, my usb keyboard, my ipod, and my flash drives. It's really annoying since i'm afraid that it'll disconnect when i'm transferring files or updating my ipod. This problem also seems to occur in random moments. Sometimes it won't happen for a few hours, sometimes it happens twice a minute, and sometimes it happens several times in 10 seconds. There also isn't a common event that triggers this reaction. I've gone to the device manager and unclicked the "allow the computer to turn off this device to save power" option, and it hasn't changed anything.could someone tell me why this is happening and what i can do to fix it ? If i need any downloads or new products, can he/she leave a website or place i can get them ?

External Usb Hard Drive Keeps Disconnecting Randomly
External usb hard drive keeps disconnecting randomly. I have a 500gb verbatim hard drive that i have connected to my toshiba laptop. After 20 minutes or so the drive randomly disconnects. I've tried changing the power options disabling the them for the usb setting to stop it from shutting off, but it doesn't help. When i plug the drive in and look under device manager i see the usb mass storage. I changed all the usb hub properties to never turn them off to save power. I've even tried this on my desktop computer and it does the same thing. I'm running it on windows 7 64 bit. I've searched numerous forums to look for a possible solution. I've also tried different usb cables and the problem continues. Please if anybody has solved this common problem let me know.

Wireless Mouse Doesn't Respond For 10 Minutes After Logging On
Has anyone had an issue with the wireless mouse (microsoft intellipoint) which has a hub plugged into the usb port does not respond for the first 10-15 minutes after logging on? I use an ibm thinkpad, it's been doing this for about a month. The wireless keyboard works immediately, but the wireless mouse takes time.
