Video Card To Play Play Left 4 Dead

Hello there, i was wondering what is the best video card? Because i asked a question a while ago on how to play left 4 dead on a net-book. But the gay there said i need a powerful pc to play it. Ok. I have a video card problem. Because. I think it is weak because it cant even enable the 3d acceleration in plants vs zombies! I was wondering if it has something to do with my video card? Or something wasn't installed like direct-x? And i searched here how to know video card brand. But i followed all instructions and i didn't see one! Or maybe i didn't just notice it? I think it's intel because everything i see is intel. So here is what i wanted in my question:

What is the best video card brand?

Can someone tell me all the video card products of intel? And which is the best of it?

Get Choppy Play Back When Play Dvd

I have a mini-itx based small form factor machine that i'd like to make into a multimedia box. The motherboard is ~1ghz with 1gb of ram. The machine can handle audio, and video files without a problem. Whenever i try to play hulu or dvds however i get choppy playback. (Youtube, even on hd, is fine however). If i get a decent pci video card (only 1 pci slot on the board), would that clear up the chop when i'm trying to play?

Easiest Solution To Backup Your Computer

What is the easiest solution available to backup your computer? I was kind of hoping for an external harddrive that had a button that when pushed, would start the software which would perform the backup with very little to no hassle. I kind of like the windows home server backup solution which is totally automated and effecient, except for the fact that you have to have a whole seperate and expensive computer running on the network. (Expensive being the operating system). I don't want to install something like windows one care either. I want the software to be practically invisible and not popping up every time you boot with some kind of warning or informational message. It would be neat so that if you were to setup the external usb drive as a bootable device, then it would boot into a menu allowing you to restore from a backup. Any ideas? This is for an older gentleman at my work who knows nothing about computers and wants something easy to use for himself and his wife. Burning a dvd would be too complex. It would require having to pick and choose specific files and folders all over the computer. He only has a 30gb drive and has no interest in really upgrading the computer itself, since it's perfectly adequate for what he needs. He is going to buy a 22" monitor as a gift for his wife. I told him that a bright new flat panel monitor would probably make a much greater impression on his wife then the actual computer itself.

Speaker Solution For Xbox 360

I'm trying to find a speaker solution for my little xbox 360 movies/gaming corner. I'm trying to not spend a bunch of cash on it or make it a big purchase because the space it's in is small. I'm using a 24 inch asus monitor with an hdmi input, but the built-in speakers are terrible. I was toying with the idea for a small 5. 1 surround sound system for gaming, the trouble being the only thing i could find that fit the bill was the logitech z-5500 and i'm certainly not up for shelling out over $300. Wondering if anyone knows of anything with an optical input and isn't going to cost me more than $150-$200. Or is there a chance that i could use an old set of creative 5. 1 pc speakers that i have with a decoder. I was looking at them but none of them seemed compatible with the 3, 1/8 inch jacks that the speakers have connecting them. Worst comes to worst and i'll just buy a 2. 1 set but ideally i'd like to know if there is a 5. 1 solution that's not bank breaking.

How do i get rid of antivir solution pro from a hp mini? I opened my laptop today and the screen started to go crazy with all of this antivir crap. My hp mini's system restore and other functions are not working. Then i may use a malware removal program. Does this sound good? I really need help here. I am not really good with laptops. Any advice from some tech people?

Adding Sata Ports - Any Easy Solution ?

I've been mulling this for a day or two now. I can't seem to find exactly what i'm looking for:

4+ ports
No raid necessary
Whs friendly
2tb drive friendly
Modern driver support

The only options i see are the supermicro 8-port pci-x/pci-e cards and some highpoint/adaptec cards that cost more than my cpu, ram, and mobo combined. Is there a reliable solution out there that's faster than pci? And under the $75 mark?

I'm willing to pay for quality, but spending another $50 on sas-to-sata cables is no fun.

Portable Esata / Usb 2.5 Hdd Solution

I've been looking for something to replace my current removable hard drive that i take back and forth from home and work. I've decided to continue to stick with a hard drive as even a 64gb thumb drive won't do. I've opted for the smaller 2. 5 hard drive size and am planning on getting a seagate 500gb 7200rpm 2. 5 sized drive. I have one concern. I have esata at home, but only usb at work, so i need the enclosure to be able to do both. I had read some short reviews on product pages about a few of these enclosures and it seems there is a small problem (if i'm understanding the users correctly). There are many that use usb to power the drive, but some people seem to be saying in their reviews that this doesn't always work with 7200rpm drives. I guess the power requirements are more than the usb provides? Anyways, so it would seem that i need one that has a usb, a esata, and a power connection. Does anybody know of a decent quality 2. 5 hd enclosure that has the power connection as well? Many of the reviews i read noted that the case ends were cheap plastic. I don't mind spending more money for a quality enclosure, and i need a place that hopefully i can order extra cables so i can leave a usb and power at work, and an esata and power connection at home. Lastly, i'm looking for an enclosure that's as thin as possible. Some i've seen are nearly twice the height of a "laptop hard drive". I've found two that look like they'll work, but i don't know if either are decent quality. Would you recommend one over the other, or a completely different one?

The most popular one appears to be

But it has the problem of not offering a power connector, and only provides power through usb which apparently is flaky if you run a 7200rpm drive.

Ibm Thinkpad T23 Wireless Solution

Okay, i have an ibm thinkpad t23 and i would like to add wireless to it so the wife can surf the net from the living room. Me being a hard-wired type of person, i've managed to keep my head in the sand in regards to bluetooth and wireless in general up to this point so i have a stupid question or two:

Which would be better for my laptop, a pcmcia wireless card or an internal mini-pc wireless card?

I'm assuming the 802. 11g is the latest standard, but what the *** is this "pre-n" i'm seeing at the local computer exporters?

Is -g worth the extra money right now?
Can i get away with just adding a bridge to the existing lan?
Have i asked enough stoopid questions yet?

Hp Solution Center Scanning Error Message

Just recently, at the beginning on the year, my computer had to be rebooted because it would not turn on. When i finally got the computer up and running again i installed my printer/scanner (hp photosmart c4480). When i went to scan some cards that i was going to sell on ebay using the multiple image scanning of the solution center i received the error message:

Hpqkygrp.exe - entry point not found followed by the procedure entry point? 0cscanshortcut@@qae@pb_w0@z could not be located in the dynamic link library hpqtscmn.dll. I did not know what to do, because the printer could not have been messed up it was brand new, i received it for christmas. I have searched the internet over and over for a solution, but found nothing relating to my problem. So i turned to the help of hp, which i dread, and talked to 5 of their tech support people, one twice, and they did not know what to do. I have already tried the uninstall and reinstall like a million times and have reset everything to the factory settings, but so far nothing has helped.

Computer Stuck In Stand By Mode Problems Solution

Ive noticed alot of people around the web asking about their problems with their computers involving stand by mode. The most popular problem was that they put their computer in stand by mode, and found that they couldn't get out of it, even if they rebooted. I also had the same problem, and would get frustrated at the fact that people would give the most useless advice as to how to fix it. So i decided, since i fixed my problem, i'd join this forum and show you how to fix this problem if needed. Problem: your computer is stuck in stand by mode, or power saving mode, and you can't seem to get a screen up. Solution:

1. Unplug the power cord from your computer, saving you from hazards such as electricity.

2. Open your case up so you can see your motherboard. The side you want to open is the left side, because that is the one you'll be able to view your whole motherboard in.

3. Locate a coin shaped battery, roughly the size of a 10 cent coin. This is known as the cmos battery. An image of it is located at : imageshack - hosting :: cmosbatterygw5.png

4. Once you've found it, fiddle around with it until you manage to take it out, but be very cautious not to scratch the motherboard, and dont break anything holding in the battery. I personally use a screw driver (not cross head) to help me take it out.

5. Once it is taken out, simply place is back in, and you've reseted your cmos, meaning your finished! I know its really simple, and irritated me till i found out how to fix my problem. I apologize if it seems like i made a guide too big for the problem, but alot of people that aren't as advanced in computing than others need this sort of descriptive guide. Please don't try changing the actual battery, as that is for another problem. If you want to know what that does, well google is your friend.

Solution For Speaker Noise Due To Wireless Interference

Has anyone been able to solve the problem of speaker noise due to wireless devices (such as cellphones) by clamping rf or ferrite filters around their speaker wires? My audio speakers dont have them, so i was thinking of adding a few to the power line on each of the speakers. They are pretty cheap, runing just a few bucks. Radioshack has them, also ebay. Anyone ?

How To Scan Multiple Pages To Pdf Using Hp Solution Center ?

Using the "hp solution center" with the hp officejet prol7590, how can one scan multiple pages to pdf? I can successfully scan one page to pdf format. The scanner tries to detect a second page for scanning, but this stops before i have time to turn the original around, and place it onto the document feeder again. Are there ways to do this without actually using two hard copies of the source document? (I hope i am clear enough).

Good Video Card Solution For A 3rd And 4th Monitor ?

I'm getting ready to ditch my x1900xtx, as seen from my other thread, and upgrade it. It'll be used for my 3rd and 4th monitors. Preferably in the $50-$150 range. My 3rd and 4th monitors are used for websites and movies (blueray). I use a 4870 as my primary on my 1st and 2nd monitors. On those, i do rendering, animation, and games, as well as movies. Since i'll be watching hd movies on it, would i need a good card, do you think?

I've been looking at a used 4770, and 4670. Do i need something better?

I've never done sli or crossfire, but do you guys recommend it? Is there a big performance increase?

Hardware Raid The Solution For Hard Drive Speed Woes ?

Cpus get faster and faster. Memory gets cheaper and cheaper. Hard drives. Well, they still suck. 99% of the time when something is slowing down my machine at work or at home, it's because something is thrashing the hard drive. I don't want that to be the limiting factor anymore. Ssds are still too unreliable and too expensive for me right now - there's still way too many unknowns in how they work in real-world situations for me to be dropping 600 bucks on a 500 gb drive. Would a raid 5 array (or some other configuration) with a hardware controller and speedy sata drives be a very noticeable jump? I'm looking at boot times and hard drive intensive tasks, like converting photos or virus scanning. I'm thinking 4-ish wd black 500 or 640gb drives in raid 5, using some lower end ($250-ish) pci express hardware raid controllers. The drives are cheap enough that i can afford to buy a bunch. Can anyone give me an idea if this sort of setup is going to be stupid fast, or am i still going to sit there watching my hard drive light flicker? Presume the rest of my rig is brand new (core i7, lots of ram, 64 bit os). If there's another setup that would be faster (without breaking the bank), please let me know.

Antivir Solution Pro Virus - Unable To Connect To Internet

My laptop was recently infected by the "antivir solution pro" virus, which blocked me from accessing any internet pages as well as forbidding me from opening programs, so i quickly found a tutorial informing me on how to remove it on the main computer, so, i got back on to the laptop and followed the tutorial, but after the whole "f8 - safe mode with networking - tools - internet options - lan settings - uncheck proxy server box - ok". I was unable to download the removal software from the tutorial website as whilst in "safe mode with networking" i am completely unable to connect to the internet, no matter which wireless network i successfully connected to, it would always only access "local only" connection, but in the virus-torn "normal mode" i can connect easily to the internet. Also, if it makes any difference whatsoever, i use windows vista.

Removing Windows Antivirus Pro Solution From Sony Vaio Laptop

How do i remove windows anti virus pro solution from my sony vaio laptop? Ok, so i was out of town this weekend and my mom told me when i got home that she scanned and cleaned the computer, and i asked what happened for her to have it scanned this is what she said (paraphrasing)

"That i was trying to send an email to my instructor and a pop up said that the computer was under attack and i clicked the link and paid 50 bucks for it" and i said "are you sure it isn't a scam, that has happened to me before but i knew it was just a trick why didn't you call if it when this occurred" and she said that she got scared. So this morning i looked up to find that it actually was a scam and now we are stuck with this crap on our computer, she knows not to do anything security wise on the computer, i have never heard of this program and i want it off now! Can someone please help me find a way to get it off of my computer, and where are places where i can take my laptop to get cleaned of the viruses.

Hardware To Play Cs:s

I recently upgraded to a 30" lcd with a resolution of 2560x1600. I used to play cs:s with a 1920x1200 monitor, and it was smooth. However, ever since i upgraded, the game is way too laggy to play. I figure its either cpu or video card. Can anyone advice on which cpu or video card i should get in order to play cs:s with a 2560x1600 monitor? I can even upgrade the whole unit if i have to. Intel pee 840 3. 2ghz
Winfast nvidia 8800gt 512mb

Play Pc Sound Through The Tv

I have recently connected my pc to my lcd tv using an hdmi cable. I have also got a monitor connected so i can extend my desktop to both. The issue i have (though i don't know if this is actually possible) is can i somehow separate the sound? Can i have whatever is on the tv say a video file play sound through the tv and whatever is on the monitor say media player play through the speakers?

I don't have a spare audio jack to connect to the tv as i was hoping the hdmi cable would do the trick. I assume there must be a way to achieve this.

Not Able To Play Certain Dvds

I haven't had this drive for very long, less than a year, and it plays most of my dvds really quite well, but then some don't play at all on any of my programs, wmp 10, asusdvd(came with the drive), and div x. When i try to play it in wmp 10 it gets to the menu fine but when it starts playing the intro of the movie it get distorted and freezes up and makes my computer crash and restart. In the other programs it just doesn't play at all. I have direct x 9c. This is through an asus dvd rom drive. But i tried getting a patch from the powerdvd site, but that didn't help.
