I made 2 unsuccessful attempts to root my galaxy s epic. The device is now unresponsive. Only the front lower buttons and a red indicator light are lit (and wont go out). Nothing responds.
The first attempt i made was from this link:
Root samsung galaxy s android 2. 1, 2. 2 on windows, mac os x
I followed the instructions, and the comand screen went through until it stopped at 'your device is now rebooting' . My device was not rebooting, no recovery, nothing was happening. I just closed the cmd window and unplugged the epic. Things were still working ok after that.
The second attempts i made was from this link (thru this forum):
One click root & recovery for the epic 4g! V2. 4. 0 now has clockworkmod! - Xda-developers
I ran the run. Bat again, nothing. I ran the adb.exe. Still nothing, but i believe this is where my trouble began. I closed everything and unplugged the epic.
Then the trouble started. Email stalled when i opened it, but it came back. Then fb stalled when i opened it. It never came back, the whole thing went black and unresponsive.
I just got this thing. I'm totally sick over this. What did i do?!
Also, how do i get the battery out of the epic, and how do i restart it?

Message:- I've noticed lately that my sometimes my screen is unresponsive to touch. The hard touch buttons on the bottom work, so in order to get my screen respond to touch, i have to turn the screen off then on. Sometimes, its not the whole screen, but a particular area, for example while texting, the "send" button doesn't work or it might be like the letter "h" or something. So i have to change to portrait or reboot my phone for it to work.
I tried hard resetting my phone, still same issues. Anyone else have this problem? Any solutions? Could it be because of an app or live wallpaper or something. Obviously the 30 days are up now (bought 8/31) so can i take to the sprint store or i have to contact samsung.

2 :: Samsung Galaxy S Best Multi Touch Screen

Multi-touch is a deciding factor for a lot of people when considering their next mobile phone.android has not been known to be the best in this area. Most notable, the nexus one, has been perceived as having a subpar multi-touch display. Until know we?Ve always heard that you have to choose between having a beautiful display or a very accurate multi-touch display. Samsung has brought them both together in the galaxy s.
The screen on the galaxy s is manufactured by a company named atmel. The technical name for this display is the atmel maxtouch, and this screen can handle up to 16 points simultaneously. It has a response time of 7 milliseconds which is 2-3 times faster than current multi-touch displays. This screen is expected to drastically limit or even eliminate miss touches, aka having your hand on the edge of the screen unknowingly.
I am more and more impressed with this phone with every new tidbit of information that gets uncovered. This is probably the most unrated device of all time. If the ?Hummingbird? Gpu lives up to its rumors, which it most likely will since we?Ve seen it in action, this will probably be the best handset of any kind on the market. Samsung is really good at making processors so the 1ghz in this phone could pack in a few surprises as well. I can?T wait to see this device stateside, in the mean time checkout the touch screen demo performed by frandroid.

I have a small problem with my galaxy s2 (i9100-europe). The problem is that when i try and press on certain parts of the screen, it doesn't work o. 0 but if i move my finger really quickly it will complete the test. Someone told me something like "you need to use a different charger", but i don't think thats the problem. What do you think? I also updated the phone to ics (official) and still the same thing.

I bought an android a week and a half ago, a samsung galaxy s. The touchscreen was really sensitive in the beginning, but now it isn't. I noticed it became slower when i upgraded from 2. 1 to 2. 2. My friend told me that android phones start to work really slow after a few days. Is that true?

5 :: Screen Burn On Samsung Epic

So i am typing this over a nice looking screen burn of the "battery completely charged" pop up that comes up when the phone us completely charged :/
I haven't even had my epic for 4 months and i just noticed this burn today. Problem is that the stupid pop up for the battery being charged never goes away until you hit the ok button (not even with screen timeout). Second part of the problem us that the pop up will even show up when the phone us locked.
Usually i am at the phone when it is done charging so i just hit the ok button and screen burn never even crossed my mind. Well a couple nights this week it didn't charge fully before i went to bed. So, the pop up was on all night long as it was there when i got up in the morning.
This has really *** me off and i'm hoping i can get a replacement display or exchange the damn thing for an evo.
Cliff notes: galaxy s owners beware of screen burn and leaving charge notification on too long.

Mine just vibrates, stays dark, and the led blinks. Which means i have to either hit the button or open the slider to put in my pattern to see the notification. Shouldn't it light up for a moment so you can see what the notification is?

I love that the epic doesn't put your new text front and center in a huge display on the screen. Woohoo. Privacy! But i don't like that it doesn't automatically turn the screen on. Is there a way to change this?
It gets annoying when you're in a conversation with someone, and you have to turn the screen on every time you receive a text.

I recently got my lovely epic replaced because of some problems. So far this device is fine, except for updating. Under the "about phone", i scroll to "baseband version" and the after the last . It says di07. This isn't the latest, is it? I go to "system updates" and i tried "update firmware", it just says "no software update is available at this time. Your current software is up to date. " . "Update profile" doesn't do anything, and "update android" says i'm already on the latest.
Also, on my old epic i noticed i had the updated market (separate tab for comments). On this epic i don't see that, its the old market.

When i plug my samsung epic into the usb port of my dell desktop at work i can see it's charging, but the charge is apparently not enough to even remain at battery level if i'm using it to phone, message, speaker or tether. This is not the case when i plug the phone into the wall charger (espcially my wife's 900ma evo charger or my dodge ram's usb port)damn shame really as it limits how long i can tether for.

16 :: Samsung Epic 4g - Epic Can Use Usb And Bluetooth On A Mac
Posted On: 10-23-2010, 03:00 PM
6
To those who are wondering whether they can connect their epic to a mac for usb and bluetooth file transfers:you can absolutely mount your epic on a mac. From the epic's home screen, either go to: (1) home screen (menu button) > applications > development or (2) (under launcher pro only) home screen (menu button) > preferences > advanced settings. From there, enable usb debugging. Now plug in your micro-to-usb cable. A prompt will appear on your epic; select mass storage. Your sd card will then appear on the desktop of your mac and you can transfer whatever you like.
Here's the other way to mount your sd on a mac: switch off your epic, remove the sd card, slip it into the card adapter it came with and plug the adapter into your usb port. (I do hope that everyone who experiences connection issues with a mac and any other smartphone or media player will now know enough to try this before posting rants about how bad their new _ is for "causing" the problem. )
Bluetooth also works, though you won't be able to see the epic's file menu on your mac's desktop. Under bluetooth, your mac will identify and pair with your epic (and identify it as a "smartphone") as soon as you make your phone and mac visible and set up your epic on the mac as a device. However, your mac won't connect until you access the pull-down bluetooth menu from the upper right-hand corner of its screen. From there, scroll down to the name of your device and select "send file". Select the file you wish to send and you're done. You should also tell your epic always to allow your mac to send files if you don't want to kill bluetooth transfers under apps or disrupt whatever else you're doing on your phone to answer individual prompts.

My mom gave me her old g1 today. The touch screen didn't work so i told her about it, and she said she dropped it in the frying pan when it had a thin layer of hot oil on it; now the touch screen doesn't work (what i'm thinking is that since touch screens are basically heat sensors, the oil kind of overloaded/fried it).
Is there any way i can fix it? I highly doubt my mom bought any insurance for the phone or whatever. Or can i just take it to the t-mobile store and get it fixed or something?

Htc evo 4g touch screen problems. When you lay the phone on a flat surface and use the touch screen, this is what happens. This doesn't happen if the phone is charging or you're holding the phone while operating the touch screen. The phone on the left is the htc evo 4g, which has the problem. The phone on the right is an htc hero (cdma), without the problem, for comparison.
Is your phone like this?
1. Lie the phone on a flat surface without anything connected to it, such as a usb cable.
2. Use the touch screen with one hand.

I've had my n1 for a month now and it's the best phone i've ever used. It's extremely snappy, no matter how much ram i have remaining (according to advanced task killer). I've tried cyanogenmod 5. 0. X on it and it was snappy although battery life wasn't that great. Now, i am running the 2. 2 test build which is just as fast as cyanogen but with tons more battery life (i get about 36 hours with light to moderate usage)
With any phone, however, it isn't always perfect.
I downloaded multitouch visible test to experiment with the touch capability. When crossing axes, the touch points get inverted which isn't good. If you have a finger on a screen already, and attempt to touch a different point, the second point will end up being leveled with the first point. That's why you aren't able to hold shift on the keyboard and attempt to type a capitalized "o". This cannot be fixed with keyboard replacements out there in the market.
This is also the reason why you cannot type as fast on the on-screen keyboard. When you type, you have to make sure your first finger is lifted off the screen before you touch the screen with your second finger. Otherwise, the 2nd finger may not be recognized
Edit: here's a video show-casing this. It's my only gripe with the phone.

I want an app where i can disable touch screen while a baby has it in hand. Example: we driving in the car, baby goes crazy, i open an youtube with some cartoons, give the phone to the baby she touches the screen, starts screaming, i have to take the phone, get the youtube going again, give it to the baby, 30 seconds later, same thing again. Need an app where for example, where you run the antibaby app, then open youtube or any other baby watch only app, activate the antibaby app by for example pushing the volume up to disable the touch screen, later volume down to disable the antibaby app to go back to normal. Something like that.

25 :: Htc Nexus One Multi Touch Screen Glitches

I'm sure people have heard that some of the nexus one phones seem to have a little screen glitch that happens sometimes. Where occasionally it will start not working right where you touch the screen. A simple sleep and wake up of the screen with the top button is what fixes this minor problem. And it doesn't happen very often but it does happen.
I saw a few video's regarding this multi-touch thing.
http://phandroid.com/2010/03/03/nexu. Verely-flawed/
It's actually not correct though, because that app in general was the problem and wasn't working right on the n1. There's other multi-touch apps and testing things that have shown that the nexus one's screen does in fact work fine on the multi-touch, but the droid's seemed a little more responsive.
I've heard that there was a thing that helped this on the nexus one. Has anyone heard anything about that? I've also read it's a software thing that will be solved in the next update, but i've heard of many things that should be fixed in updates that are not. So i just thought i'd mention it.
I'll try to find the video that showed the newer mt app that showed the n1 working fine

So i didn't really realize this until the latest update said one of the issues they had corrected was edge of screen sensitivity. Then i thought about it some more and i swear the "end call" button (which i always had issues with sensitivity) has moved from being at the bottom of the screen to above the num pad, mute and speaker. And now i'm having difficulties when i try to press the num pad, mute and/or speaker (since they've moved to the bottom)is anyone else having this issues?
The fact that they've "moved" the end call button rather then truly fix the edge of screen issues leads me to believe this is a hardware issue with regards to touch sensitivity around the edges of the screen? Can anyone else comment?I have one of the original cliq's do the newer one's have the same issue?

I am stuck on the boot screen of the htc hero, i woke up this morning and it was stuck in sleep so i removed the battery and the restarted and it is now stuck. It briefly loaded earlier today but only the trackball and buttons were working, and it soon froze again.
I restarted holding volume down button and i get the following:
Hero cvt ship s-on
Hboot-1. 76. 0007 (hero10000)
Touch panel-fail
Radio-6. 35. 07. 08

Hboot
Back fastboot mode
Send simlock
I have tried fastboot but no luck.

My phone is stuck on the spash screen after the "updating process" the splash screen is saying htc magic, but thats as far as it proceeds nothing more. I have successfully created a "goldcard" was the process that i used. Now its stuck. Much help is needed and appreciated. Creating a gold card, and copying files. Right after this is where the phone sticks at the splash screen and doesn't load anything.

Are there any good games for all touch screen phones mainly my droid x? Most games require a keyboard or track ball so i'm out of luck. I've found throttle copter which i played all the time in study halls and my tech classes back in the day. Any other slacker class games like this for my droid x to relive the days?

32 :: Htc Desire Z Keeps Going Unresponsive
Posted On: 2011-03-18

Well i recently got my htc desire z about a month ago, and still like having it for one week or so, i've had this problem that my desire z keep going unresponsive when its looked. That is to say, when its locked and i press the power button to make it light up so that i can unlock it, nothing happens. Its doesn't light up. In such a condition pressing or doing anything doesn't make it light up so that i can unlock it and use the phone. My only option is to take the battery out and re-insert it and then turn on the phone. This happens on average like once a day. Also, i haven't really figured out what may be causing this . It just seems random .
Other than this the phone works fine in every respect. It locks and unlocks fine and there's no major lag or anything at any time. Any ideas what may be causing this? Does it sound like a hardware issue of a software issue? Could an application be causing this? I admit i installed like 50 apps on my phone within the first 24 hours, and have been installing more apps regularly.

I have a widget button that responds to user's clicks. My design is to assign the click event handler to calling a service in onupdate. It works fine when first created, but it stops responding after user has opened and closed the keyboard. How to fix this?
