Computer Locking Up Minutes After Starting

I'd been having a problem with crashing to blue screen and getting the error of "irql is not less or equal to" for about a year. Now for the past 3 days my computer has started completely freezing either as soon as my desktop shows or 10-15min after startup. The only major change i've done is adding a second hard drive last weekend. But as stated, i didn't start having this problem till about 3 days ago, so i'm pretty sure it isn't the additional hard drive i added. Any help is appreciated. At this point i'm thinking that my only option is to just reformat.

Computer Not Starting

I was messing around and decided i wanted to delete the old system files from my c: drive from a previous install of windows xp. (Because since i have reinstalled on the d drive and i assumed i did not need 2 copies of the system files) i had assumed that the system files from the older install were not needed. So of course i had figured that i would just delete the old file's which were a pain in the back to get rid of because i had to do some major permission changes and reset's for each and every single file to gain "administrator" privelages even though i am already set as admin on my own machine. Anyways i went to restart my computer about 2 days later and i come to find out when i get to my "veryifying dmi pool data" screen it comes up shows the normal information then at the bottom it say's something along the lines of "missing ntldr press ctrl+alt+dlt to restart" and it will not boot into windows no matter what i can seem to think of doing. I'm not sure if i deleted something that has to do with raid or if it has just to do with windows system files. But i would really like to be able to keep or backup the really important stuff that i have on my drives. (Such as my family pictures from the last 5 years i don't have backed up anywhere else, and my last 3 years worth of my college work. (Papers, and graphic projects and what not. ))

Anyways i have a 3rd hard drive which is not on my raid which is also pretty empty, but i can't seem to isntall windows to it because it seem's to give me erors about a page fault on a non-paged area everytime i go to format that drive and install windows. (In hopes i can install it on that drive then read the info off of my other drives. ) If anyone knows how i can either just fix the ntldr or whatever file im missing or has any recommendations besides something along the lines of "it's busted forever and never gonna work again you might as well give it to me".

Computer Starting Problems

Last night i experienced my computer stuttering (sound & display) at random times. This could be anything up to 10 minutes. I thought nothing of it and continued on. Anyway, upon starting up the computer the next morning, nothing would happen. The power led would briefly turn on, then go off again. The same applies to the fans. However the ram led on the motherboard remains on. Now i'm seriously hoping that perhaps this is just the power unit. However from other posts, it may indicate that my processor and motherboard could be dead. Does the stuttering indicate which of these it's most likely to be? I will try playing around and swap some of the components with the other computer tomorrow, when i have time.

Psu Not Starting Computer

My computer works fine, but i wanted a new graphics card. I had to buy a new psu as well, as my hiper hpu-4s425 wouldn't do the job. I bought a hiper hpu-4m580 as it was recommended, and put the new psu in the computer. The computer doesn't start. The cpu and psu fans spin for a second or so, then it turns off. After a few seconds, it tries to start again, and repeats. Put the old psu back in, and the computer runs fine. I sent the psu back as faulty, and received a new one in the post. It does exactly the same thing! I tried the psu in a different computer here at work, and (although the second computer only needs a 20 pin motherboard power connection) the computer starts fine. My computer is a core 2 duo 2. 66 ghz, on a ecs g33t-m2 motherboard. I've tried with everything unplugged, just the motherboard, processor and ram. No joy. Any suggestions please?

Computer Keeps Shutting Off After Few Minutes

My computer was working fine yesterday, all day, and now i can't have it on for more than 10 minutes without it randomly shutting down. It's not a problem with the wall socket because my monitor stays on the whole time, so i figure it's a problem with the tower. Here's what i've done since last night:

1. Put the side panel back on. 2. Moved it to my dorm room. I haven't checked for any loose connections, but that could be it. I figure either one/some of the connections is just barely hanging in, or one of the parts is overheating. That could be because either a heatsink misaligned in transit to my dorm or the side panel is cutting off ventilation.

Computer Freezes Starting Up, Shutting Down, Standby

I don't know why but my computer has started freezing when its started up, shutting down, or coming out of standby. At start up it doesn't make it to the post screen, everything turns on and then just sits there, nothing shows up on the display. Same thing with standby. On shutdown it will freeze at the "windows xp is shutting down" screen. I have to either hit the restart button to get it to start up and come out of standby or i have to hold the power button for 4 secs to get it to shutdown. I didn't have these problems till about 1 week ago when i received my dell 2407wfp-hc, i doubt this would be the cause though.

Computer Starting But No Posting / Beeping / Booting

I was having trouble with my keyboard dying during the middle of using it, so i got frustrated and pulled the power cord while the computer was on. I probably did this 2-4 times because it kept dying. Eventually, the computer wouldn't even boot. It won't boot into bios or anything. All of the lights turn on in the case, fans spin, but no beeps/noise from mobo and all of the usb ports don't get power(for example, usb mouse doesn't get power). I have done the following:

Re-seat ram
Re-seat sound card
Re-seat video card
Re-seat cpu/heatsink
Remove cmos/power, let sit for a few minutes
Remove all unneeded devices/items(all usb stuff, etc. )
Let computer sit overnight

No avail. What in the *** is the problem?

Amd 64 4000+
Nvidia geforce 7900gtx
2gb corsair xms
Seagate 320gb sata2 7200rpm x2
Creative x-fi xtreme sound card
Special heatsink
Antec 550w psu
Gigabyte 3d aurora case

Computer Takes 6, 7 Minutes To Open

My monitor that came with my win98 dell computer, takes now about 6 or 7 minutes to open. I upgraded to winxp, it now takes about about 4 or 5 minutes. Someone suggested to test and find out if it's the monitor or the computer. I borrowed a laptop but didn't know how to do it. A kind person suggested the following:

"Right click on the screen, choose properties/settings/advanced, look for your graphic card or video card then you should see the 2 icons for the 2 monitors. Switch over to the main monitor from there by clicking on the monitor icon at the rear of the two and dragging it to the front. " I followed the above but didn't see any "graphic card or video card" so i'm stuck now.

Pc Keeps Rebooting And Randomly Locking Up

I've got a friend that i built a pc for. It now keeps rebooting and randomly locking up. It usually locks up while gaming, but has recently begun this while not gaming. We brought the thing to our office, where it did not lock up during over an hour of gaming and benchmarking. By taking it to another location, i have narrowed the problem to either the monitor, or the outlet the thing is plugged into. Question is, has anyone ever seen a monitor or bad outlet cause a pc to behave like this?

Nvidia Video Card Locking Up

My video card (i believe it's a nvidia 6800, i know its nvidia at least) has been freaking out on me when i have been playing world of warcraft. It seems random so far. It's happened after 30 minutes or any time up to 3-4 hours. Anyways, when i'm playing everything locks up and my screen turns into a pixelated mess. The best way for me to describe it is that it looks like a robin's egg, one of those malted chocolate easter eggs. The colors vary from pinks, blues and grays, but its always in a pixelated pattern. And the cursor turns into a block of the same color and pattern. So far this has only happened when i have been playing wow, but i haven't played any other video games on my computer recently. I have tried reseting my card, i air dusted it out (it was pretty dusty), and i reinstalled wow. But the problem is still occurring. Anyone have any suggestions on how to fix this or know what might be happening?

Software Programs For Dfs Block Level Sync And Real Time Open File Locking

We need a robust piece of software that would be able to do block-level synchronization and real time open file locking within a dfs across three separate and distinct office locations across a wan. Also, we'd prefer if the software was x64 native on a windows operating environment. Some concerns is that we don't want to run into a file limit, a file size limit, and the number of files per synchronized folder. We especially don't want any kind of wan compression scheme which would negate the benefits of block-level synchronization or a solution that would require a master-copy of the synchronized files at all times.

Within 5 Minutes The System Freezes Up

Every time i turn it on, it boots up as normal. Usually within 5 minutes or so the system freezes up. Sometimes, the computer automatically restarts. Other times, the computer will freeze and, if i'm playing music, my speakers will emit a grinding noise, and i will have to manually turn it off. This usually happens between 1 and 3 times before the computer will turn on and be stable. Has anyone had a similiar problem? Any suggestions? I returned it to the store i bought it at and they were unable to fix it. I'm running a 1. 15 amd athlon with 256 mb ram.

This past couple of days i've been reformatting and re-installing windows and tweaking my partition sizes. However, yesterday evening, after finishing loading up windows xp and in the middle of loading my programs my mouse buttons just stopped working for no apparent reason. Hard Disk Crashing On Every Five Minutes

My computer hangs. No warning, no messages, no extremely taxing problems. Just, hangs. Meaning. . My mouse can't move, my keyboard doesn't work. Everything is in stop time ( can't even use ctrl+atl+del) when my computer restarts, it shows that my primary master isn't detected. If i wiggle my ide cables around, it detects it. Now, here's the thing. The maxtor is a brand new hard drive, i had the same problem with my old western digital (40gb one) and i replaced it. I've tried changing my ide cables, and same problem. I've tried buying an ide controller card and same problem. Anyone with any idea on what i'm missing.

Pc Hangs And Takes 15 Minutes To Boot

Yesterday i formatted my pc, so i could add a smaller system drive, and then use 3 ide hdd's and 1 dvd-rw. Heres the setup i did:

Primary ide master - system drive
Primary ide slave - applications drive (empty)

Secondary ide master - docs drive (half full/half empty, up2u)
Secondary ide slave - dvd-rw

First boot from format, everything seemed snappy and fast, no problems. I started installing a few drivers, for nothing major, other than the nvidia hardware firewall on my dfi lanparty mb, and the basic mb drivers. Upon a required reboot, the machine now takes an immense 15 minutes to boot.

Nvidia Mx440 Blink Problem On Starting Winxp

When starting windows (xp) and when the desktop appear (is loaded) the screen "blinks" (went from normal to black and back for a fraction of sec) for 2 to 4 times (depending on the driver version i use). I have dual display enabled but with or without it the blinks are still there. I tried different drivers, uninstalled/installed the monitors (also i saw that i have 4! Monitors installed by default in cp/monitors by the graphic card driver, i guess this is normal)

The blink also appear when i access the driver settings dialog, so i'm sure it is related to the driver -> or maybe hardware. The blink is similar to the situation when the display resolution is changed, but in my case no display resolution is changed. What is the cause of this behavior? And how can i remove this blinking?

Artifacting / Crashing When Starting Any Game / Full Screen Video

Really strange problem i've been having for a month. Whenever i run any game or a video in full screen or semi full screen, the computer instantly comes up with a screen full of artifacting for about 10 seconds, then restarts the computer. I've run cpu z, gpu z, and realtemp to see if there was some kind of thermal issue but the gpu core never goes above 58 before a crash, cpu sits at 32-38. All the ram has already been swapped out along with the power supply, hard drive and im in a very large and fan friendly case. At one point if i didn't restart the computer it wouldn't give me any trouble, but now it doesn't matter how many parts i re-seat or how many times i reboot, it happens every time without fail. Nothing appears in the windows event logs, and there are no blue/green screens. This has happened in windows vista 32-bit and windows xp pro so the os has nothing to do with it. I don't want to drop 500 bucks on a new vid card if i don't have to and i don't have a spare board or vid card laying around for further testing. Rig: bfg gtx 280, vista 32-bit home prem, 4*1gig dual chan, 650watt psu, intel core 2 duo e8400 3. 0ghz, systemboard: asus p5q series

Not overclocking, all bios/firmware updates installed, drivers have been updated and down-dated to newer/older versions.
