Connect Motorola Sb4200 Modem To Thomson Tg782t Router

How do i connect my motorola sb4200 cable modem to a thomson tg782t wireless router? I have an old pc which is connected to a motorola sb4200 cable modem. I want to change it to wireless so i can connect my laptop. I don't really need to use the pc anymore so i am not concerned if that doesn't have internet access. I was wondering of there was a way to connect the modem to a wireless router to enable me to receive a wireless signal? The modem was connected to the pc via usb. The only cables plugged into the cable modem is the internet cable, usb and power.

How Do I Connect My Wireless Router To My Brighthouse Modem?

Iam at my cousin's house for the weekend down in alabama, and i brought my wireless router so that we could play our online game together via desktop and laptop. Unfortunately, its not connecting well, i connect the cable from the modem to the wireless router and then into the desktop. It won't aquire the ip address from the modem iam guessing and it won't let us get onto the internet unless we direct connect back from the modem to the desktop. (P. S. I also called the brighthouse service people and they told me that it would be a $50 charge to get wireless internet o_0, and iam like wdf? Because we already have a wireless router so why are you charging us for wireless internet when we all ready have a working modem and working wireless router!

At&t Dsl Modem And Netgear Router Cant Connect To Internet

I have at&t dsl, and yesterday i replaced my ailing linksys wireless router with a new netgear n150 wireless router. After installing the router, and getting everything (seemingly) running, i tried to access the internet. I was redirected to an at&t "password update" page that told my there was a discrepancy between my network password and the password i was using to access the internet. It sent me through a "self-solve" application that didn't solve anything, and then told me to call tech support. I've called at&t tech support (a few times), and they have told me that they can't troubleshoot third party routers, but they have reset my password so that i can access the internet without using my router, just using the modem. This isn't very helpful, since the majority of internet usage in my house is done wirelessly. After researching this issue and trying many remedies i find myself still ending up on this stupid password update page. The only thing i can guess is that this might have something to do with the "dsl password decoupling" thing that at&t put into effect in june. Is there any help out there for me?

Connect Trendnet Wireless Router To Virgin Modem

Got a trendnet wireless router for my virgin modem. Cant connect to 192. 168. 0. 1/ . Answer:- not all wireless routers use . 0. 1 as their ip. Secondly, you might not be associated (connected) to the router wirelessly, even though it shows "connected". Try to plug in an ethernet (aka network or cat5) cable to the back (not the wan port) and see if you can access the page. Make sure you open ie and type in http://ip_address_of_router and not just 192. 168. 0. 1/

To find the ip of the router, while connected to it, access the command prompt and type in ipconfig /all and look at the entry for "default gateway". Use that ip address when you open ie and type in http://192. 168. X. X (could be 0. 1, . 1. 1, 0. 254 or . 1. 254)

Adsl Modem / Router With Wireless Netgear Router

I have a problem and do not know where else to go. I currently have an adsl+2 modem/router and recently bought a netgear wireless rangemax 240 router for wireless capabilities. I cannot get the two to work together. It doesn't help that im very in-experienced with networking either. My connection is pppoe and i need a sign in. Is there a way to bridge the 2 routers together?

I plug my netgear into the modem and it receives no internet signal. Ive tried numerous ways of doing it. Nothing works. I don't know if im suppose to use port forwarding or what. Any information would help and please, if you could. Bust it down 2 y/o style so i understand

Modem / Router Upgrade

Ok well ive had enough of the standard adsl modem/router that came in my bt 2mb package "bt voyager 205 adsl router" i think im in need of a new router and modem as i run it on a network at home and it just doesn't cut it . Just keeps crapping out basically. I have updated the firmware tried every possible way of setting it up and well it lets me down. I am a gamer and one of the problems is that all me server lists are very short and i cant get into any games. Yes i have tried opening ports for the router. So i have been looking into the router and modem range and have come up with: lynksys etherfast® cable/dsl router with 4-port switch. The current set up is modem/router > hub > to clients via rj45 cables i believe cat5 . With the lynksys router would i be able to get rid of the hub and just run the lan off its built in switch? If so kewl. Now heres were im stumped . Modem? Im not sure what a good modem is nowadays and if anone knows of a good one then that would be also kewl. In the mean time i will keep googling adsl modems hehe thx

Update:- just an update, im kinda trying to get away from all-in-one solutions. Is this a bad move? I just find more problems with them. But i may find problems mixing products as well.

Is My Router / Modem Going Bad?

I have had a router and modem for a while now and they always worked fine, but recently the room that they were in was rearranged and they were moved to a spot where they have almost no airflow and are sitting on carpet. A few days ago the router wasn't broadcasting a wireless signal to either of our two computers but one computer was connected by an ethernet cable and still worked, i reset the router and both worked again, then the next day it stopped working with wireless again so i reset it again. I also noticed that the router and modem were kinda hot feeling when i was resetting it. So now it worked with wireless again, but the computer that is connected with the ethernet cable is not working as quickly as before, when trying to stream videos it keeps stopping and having to wait for it to buffer over and over. If it is connected by a cable why did it lose its speed? Is the router and/or the modem going bad because of overheating because of where they are located? Can they be fixed or do i have to get new ones?

Separate Switch For Modem / Router

I recently got hooked up with verizon fios and the modem they gave me has a built in wireless router and 10/100mbps switch. The router is actually pretty nice and has a good feature set so i'm willing to use it, but the wired switch is only 10/100mbps. I tend to transfer large files between the computers on the network and i've grown accustomed to having a router with a gigabit switch, this bandwidth drop is really cramping my style. Is it feasible to set up a separate gigabit switch to connect computers and still have them connected to the router for internet?

All of the computers have dual gigabit ethernet nics so i know it's probably possible i just don't know how it would work in practice. I can imagine that the computer might have a hard time trying to figure out which network adapter to use for sending a file versus which to use for connecting to the internet. If anyone has done this before please let me know how it worked for you.

Usb Router For Adsl Cable Modem

Just wanted to know if someone could refer me to a good router for my adsl cable modem. I'm using an efficient adsl cable modem which only supplies an usb output (no rj45 output). Will it be possible for me to find a router that will accept this usb output?

Usb Adsl Modem - Use Wireless Router

A new job has forced me to buy a laptop and turn my old 750 mhz desktop over to my girlfriend, so we need to share our cheap broadband service (an adsl connection through a usb modem). I've looked around but the only thing i've been able to find that *might* get me connected to a wireless router is a sort of adapter that appears to be intended as a way to create an ethernet port out of a usb port (why anyone would pay $50+ for that is beyond me). Somehow i doubt that that will solve my problem, i can't see that kind of rigged setup working with one of these notoriously touchy modems, and in any case i don't think all the plugs will go in the right way. Anyone solved this problem before? I can't be the first, i'm so far behind the curve my mom laughs at me. I don't even have a cell phone.

Connecting Linksys Router To Comcast Modem

We recently upgraded to comcast high-speed internet from our existing at&t. The tech guy that came only installed internet on one computer. Note: using comcast's modem directly hooked up to the computer worked fine. The problem is that we have two computers. So set it up using a router the same way that worked while using at&t. Modem <-> router <-> computer

After setting it up, it searched for an ip but was unable to find one. I am sure the router works fine because i had no problems while using it with at&t's internet. Without an ip, i can't configure the modem to communicate with the router, using a web browser. Any input on how i can fix this or what i am doing wrong is much appreciated. Modem - arris tm602g/ct
Router - linksys befsr41 v. 2

Motorola Razr V3c Drivers

Connect Two Routers To One Modem

Can i connect two routers to one modem? I have dsl and a linksys wireless router. My dad i don't know why, went nuts and put the wireless router in the basement (supposedly so it wouldn't take up space, like a router takes so much space) but there is still first and second floor of the house. There is basically barely any wireless internet on the first floor of the house, and in the bedrooms in the second floor there isn't any. I got computers connected by the ethernet cable or w. E but i want wireless internet for laptops and my ipod touch. I am thinking of getting a wireless router and setting it upstairs but will it work? Is it possible to have two wireless routers at the same time?

Modem Can Connect Once, But Redial Doesn't Work

My computer is having problems with the modem right now. I've checked the modem, everything seems to be working just fine. However, when i disconnect purposely, and try to sign on the internet again, it doesn't want to connect. It says there is no dial tone and i have to check the line. When i plug in a phone to the line, pick up and check for a tone, there is one. When i hang up, put the cord back in the computer, it works like a charm. It seems like i have to do this everytime i want to connect to the internet, which sucks. Is there any fix for this?
