Answer:- no. According to the dell website, your computer only has a 305w power supply. A gtx 480 requires allot of power, all most double a regular graphics card. But other than that it should work fine. You will need at least a 650w power supply to run this graphics card, but i would recommend getting something a bit higher, 800w preferably. Buy why do you want to get this card? You're computer is not that great to begin with, only duo core/pentium. This graphics card is way to powerful and everything else in your system will end up bottlenecking it. Don't waste your money on a $500 card when your computer isn't even worth that much. I would recommend getting a xfx hd 5770 1gb, even this might be a little over powerful for your computer. But once again you'll have to upgrade the power supply to at least 450w, preferably 650w.

Will a nvidia geforce 220 fit inside a compaq cq4010f pc? I need to get a new card because i believe my other one is broke. I have a pny nvidia geforce 210 currently. From the pictures the 220 looks thicker than the 210 and the space i have to install it in is cramped, about 3 inches wide, 8 inches long. On the 210, i had to remove the bracket that holds the monitor cables to make it fit and consequently the hdmi cable is just dangling inside the computer. I have a 400 watt power supply so that should be no problem but the space i have to install the card in is, again, very limited. Will it work? If so, should i stick with pny as the brand for the card?

I had a look on the box and it said "vista: 1. 5gb ram minimum" i had a look and i have exactly 1021. 3mb of ram at the moment. Everything else checks out so i am just assuming i don't have enough ram. First of all, is this the problem that is causing the sims 3 to crash or something else?

Dell E520 - Geforce 8800
I made a post a few days ago about my upcoming adventures with a dell dimension e520 and a geforce 8800gts. Well, after getting my new card in the mail today, here's the results :
I opened my case to see what i was going to have to do. Right after i opened it, i took a look at the situation. First thing i noticed was that the card's ventilation was going to have to have an opening. Second, was that the fan shroud was going to be in the way. Third? I wish i had a dreamed kit. Would have made this into a 1 hour ordeal. This will void your warranty. You will be removing a piece of the case, a screw from the 8800, and a part of the fan shroud and mount. If you're still interested, read on! This is not sanctioned by dell!
1 - first of all, i popped the case open and took a look. I tried slipping in the 8800 as it was to see what had to be changed. 1st thing was the spot in the back above where the stock pci-e card would stick out. The 8800 needs to vent, so there needed to be a hole there. 2 - second, the rear of the card needed some space. To do this, i had to remove the shroud from over the heatsink and cut about 1 inch off of it. Also, where it connects to the mount on the motherboard i had to trim the mount down quite a bit. I thought this would loosen the heatsink alot but it never, the hs is still firmly on the cpu!

Answer:- it depends upon what you mean by "better". The gtx 260 is more powerful and gets higher frame rates in games. It also has physx support for the few games that support it. However it's an older design that doesn't support dx11, and requires more power. In most games, the radeon 5770 is slightly slower than ati's older radeon 4870, while the gtx 260 is slightly faster than the 4870. In call of duty the 5770 actually edges the 4870. However, to run a gtx 260 or radeon 4870 you need at a minimum 550w power supply with two (not just one) pci-e power connectors, while the radeon 5770 only requires a 450w power supply with a single power connector. So a lot of people can use the 5770 without having to upgrade their power supplies. Also, to run those older cards in sli or crossfire requires a psu with 4 power connectors! Ok so im upgrading my computer so i can play games for the summer. I have upgraded my psu, ram, and the processor to intel pentium d 3. 4ghz as that's all my dell motherboard will support. But now im a little worried as ive bought the graphics card ati radeon hd 4870 for my computer as it appeared to be the best card for my budget but now i am not sure if it will fit. As far as i know the graphics card is pretty big and where my 16x pci slot is located on my motherboard, i am not sure it will fit. The slot is right next to my fan and im a little concerned that the card will not fit with the huge fan being in the way. I have the psu and system requirements to support the card after a upgrade but im not sure if it will fit can anyone help me?

Dimension E520 Cpu Upgrade
I'm upgrading a client's dell e520 from a pentium d 820 to a pentium e6600 dual-core cpu. With the e6600 cpu installed, i get no post screen at all, and the monitor light blinks. Both fans (psu & cpu) come on and the hard drive spins up. The main front panel power light shows steady green and the front panel diagnostic lights show 1, 3 and 4. To shut down i have to hold the power button in for 4-6 secs (rather than just pressing it). All my research insists that the e6600 is compatible with the dell e520, and it's my understanding that the motherboard should automatically adjust from the old 800mhz to the new 1066mhz fsb speed. I'm using the original 305w psu. I have updated the bios from 1. X to 2. 4. 0. I have tried reverting a ram upgrade from 2x2gb 800mhz (which works with the pentium d cpu) to the original 2x512mb 533mhz. I've tried removing the battery for 15 minutes as well as shorting the clrbios jumper. I've tried reseating the cpu, the ram and the power leads. Every time i insert the pentium d it works, but i have yet to get anything out of the e6600. I work at a static-free workstation and am using good quality thermal paste with the original heatsink assembly.

Can anyone recommend me a good power supply for the dell e520. I'm looking to upgrade my video card to nvidia geforce 7 series, so i guess something around 400w with be sufficient? I'm a total new when it comes to power supplies so any help would be greatly appreciated.

Nvidia Gtx 260 Problem
I just purchased an upgraded video card (nvidia gtx 260) for my custom built system and it has given me nothing but trouble. At first whenever the video card would start rendering some graphics (everything from nvidia logo in the control panel, to warcraft) the computer would blue screen. I had the bright idea that it was my psu since it was just meeting the wattage requirements but not the amps for the 12v rail. Long story short i get my new psu and install it, and to my blood curdling amazement it was still blue screening. So i went after the next culprit my operating system/drivers setup. Xp-64 bit has given me so many driver problems before it is hard to believe that i didn't reach this conclusion first. So i install my windows 7 beta on another hard drive and proceeded accordingly and everything was working just fine. So i decided that i would play some warcraft but i had to re-download the client to this hard drive which takes a few hours. So, i go to bed for the night and when i come back to the computer in the morning the computer is not on and it will not start back up. I thought it was the psu so i plugged in my spare and ruled that out. I swapped the video card with the old one and the computer booted up no problem. So i then put the new video card in and forget to plugin the two required pci-e 6pins and viola it worked. So here is the problem: the nvidia gtx 260 is causing my computer to not boot(the led fans light up for about 1 sec). However, whenever i have the two pci-e 6 pins detached it boots. So is this a problem with my motherboard or with the video card?
I am leaning towards rma'ing the video card and starting from there, i appreciate any advice you can give me.

Evga Nvidia Gtx 260 Not Working
I just got all my stuff for my computer build. Everything seems to turn on (cpu, hdd, psu, mobo) except for the video card. I can feel the video card heat up but the fan does not spin. Also, the dvd drive does not open. But when i unplug the dvd drive from the motherboard and still how power going to it, it opens fine. I tried the same thing with the video card but it still did not spin. My other dilemma is that my motherboard does not have an on-board video card. So once the video card gets going, i have no way of getting anything on the screen until i install the video card, correct? Or should i be able to get something without installing the driver?
Here's the specs:
Motherboard: asus p7p55d
Video card: evga nvidia gtx 260
Ram: 8 gb ocz gold
Processor: intel i7 quad
Psu: 750w antec

Basically i am getting what nvidia says is a windows tdr issue. I am running windows 7 pro 64bit. I have tried the last 5 nvidia drivers with the exact same results. I am not overclocking anything and the video card is a non overclocked version. When i play games the game will often freeze then the screen goes black for anywhere from 5 seconds to 5 minutes. Windows pops up a message stating, "display driver stopped responding and has recovered. "
This happens sporadically. Sometimes it is every couple minutes, sometimes its over and over machine gun style, sometimes its only once an hour. It seems to happen at any temperature.nvidia directs people to http://forums.nvidia.com/index.php?Showtopic=65161
I have checked the memory with multiple utilities and it tests fine. I have attempted to test the psu by running prime95 and logging the voltage values. Wanted to update to the new 4870 ati series. Choosing between 4870 2 gig version or two 4870 512mg cross fire
Ive seen the bench marks both are good some of the tests on the cross fire 512 out do the 2 gig version? Strange to me but i guess thats running at 512 bits not 4870x2 at 256bits
What do use think?

Play Starcraft 2 With Geforce Gtx 260
Can i play starcraft 2 with a geforce gtx 260 and a i7 core intel processor and a hp pavilion elite hpe pc? I am running it with all the graphics maxed out on an older core2 quad processor and a gtx275 with flawless frame rates. So, i would say absolutely your machine should be able to handle it.

Nvidia Gtx 460 Power Connectors Problem
I got a new nvidia gtx 460 which requires more power than the motherboard can provide and has two 6 pin (2x3) power connectors. Unfortunately, i have no idea how to connect them to the power supply. I currently have a 500 watt power supply, so do i need to upgrade it, or is the problem simply the one of finding the right cables and/or adapter?
