Large Wireless Network Project

I am trying to implement a large wireless network in one of my clients condo buildings. The building is 4 stories high and is about half a city block wide. I have tried just using consumer wireless routers like linksys and boosters and what not but it seems like there should be a better solution. There are still cold spots all through the build and the placement of the hardware is getting tricky. If anybody has any experience with this kinda thing can you let me know a better way to set this kinda thing up.

Trying To Share Printer On A Large Network

My friend and i are roommates here at ucf. He has a printer and i dont. We agreed on sharing it but the problem is we do not want anyone else to access it. I came up with the bright idea of making a new workgroup then sharing it. He made one and then shared the printer. I then joined the workgroup with no problem. Now, when i click view workgroup computers it says that it cannot be accessed. When he does it, it works fine. I then tried to connect to his ip address but again nothing. I just finished trying sharing a folder and made him copy a shortcut to printer but when i double click it, it says the printer is unreachable and probably offline.

Network Address Problem Connecting To Existing Wireless Network

Network address problem connecting new laptop to existing wireless network. Using a netgear dg834g router as the access point for 2 different pc's, which are not networked with each other, but both connect fine to the wireless network. Just got a new inspiron 6000. It recognizes the network and connects, but gives me an ip of , limited connectivity etc. Also no default gateway, or dns and wins server addresses. I know it should be giving me an ip of or something, i just can't figure out why it doesn't.

Connecting Two Wireless Routers As One Wireless Network

How can i connect two wireless routers to function together as one wireless network? Currently i have a wireless bell dsl router (i don't remember the actual router model, but i know it is very limited as to what it could do). This router is connected to the internet and currently all my computers connect wirelessly to this router's wifi network (let's call it network a) to access the internet. I am currently repairing a desktop which does not have wireless functionality. I don't want to purchase a wireless adaptor for this computer or move it closer to the router, one of those will be my last resort. I do have a linksys wrt150-n wireless router that i don't use anymore. That router by default creates it's own wireless network called "linksys". Is there some way to link or bridge the two wireless networks together so that any computer that i connect to the linksys router via ethernet cable will get internet access provided from the bell router?

In the diagram network 1 (blue) and network 2 (red) are not connected. Everything in network 1 can access the internet, nothing in network 2 can. The desktop is in network 2 and cannot access the internet. Somehow i want to wirelessly merge these two networks. I don't want to run an ethernet cable between the two routers, i want them to connect to each other wirelessly.

Cannot Connect To Wireless Network

I am unable all of a sudden to connect to any wireless network. I know my modem and router are working correctly. Both the provider checked the signals, and my network is detectable from other computers. My gateway laptop won't detect any signal. The wireless button is on. I have tried restarting everything, reinstalling the driver, and even a system restore (all suggestions i found online). I have tried every possible solution i can find and nothing works. If anyone has instructions on what i can do to get this working again i'd appreciate it!

Is My Wireless Network Being Hacked?

Lately my connection speed has been very slow and often after waiting forever for a web page to load i get an "internet explorer cannot display web page" when i click the diagnose connection problems it says it can't identify the problem. I have also been having issues with windows 7. My anti- virus does not detect any viruses, spyware etc. Now this may sound weird or even paranoid, but i noticed around the same time this started that my new neighbors had put up some kind of big metal antennae in their yard, did not think much about it then. A week later i rearranged my living room (just for cleaning purposes) and ended up setting up my pc(laptop)on the other side of the room, then a couple days later, i see they moved that dang thing and it's pretty much right next to the wall my pc is now sitting at. It just seems like too much of a coincidence that as soon as i saw that thing in their yard is when i started having trouble with my internet connection and speed. Am i being paranoid or is it possible that my wireless connection is being hacked?

Also, my network is password protected and secured with wpa.

Repair Wireless Network Connection

Whenever i click on the repair button this is what is being returned:

"Windows could not finish repairing the problem because the following action can not be completed:

Disabling the wireless network adapter

Make sure your network adapter is properly installed. "

Whenever i try to disable the wireless network connection this is what is being returned:

"It is not possible to disable the connection at this time. This connection may be using one or more protocols that do not support plug-and-play, or it may have been initiated by another user or the system account. "

Is there a fix to this problem? I was able to repair my connection untill just recently.

Remote Desktop Wireless Network

I have a wireless router to share my broadband connection to my laptop and desktop. When i'm connected to my home wireless network i can use remote desktop connection no problem, but i was wondering how i can access my desktop when i am on my school wireless network? I don't know how i would do it because my router assigned ip addresses to my laptop and desktop, but i don't know what ip address to type in when i'm at school. I'm running win xp pro on both my desktop and laptop, my laptop is a celeron 1. 6 gig, and my desktop is a 733 celeron. I'm using a seimens wireless ethernet card, and a netgear wireless router in my home network. So basically my question is what do i type in the remote desktop connection in "computer" when i'm connected to my school wireless connection?

Can Connect To Wireless Network, But Not To Internet

I have a cable broadband connection comming into a linksys wrt54g. I can connect to the router and all of the computers on the network can share files, but not all of them can access the internet. I have noticed that on the ones that can connect, in the 'network connections' window, there is is an 'internet gateway' icon. I'm not to sure why this is. I have set up upnp on the router and all of the computers, i believe this has something to do with it?!?

Is this the reason why the internet is not working on the computers where this 'gateway' does not appear?

I have set all of the ip's manually and also tried it with no wep, but still no internet on some of the computers. I should point out again that all of the computer seem to connect to the network fine and can 'see' each other, but some of them can't connect to the internet, these ones being the ones with no 'internet gateway'.

Wireless Network Pings Are Different For 2 Machines

We have a desktop dell 8200 and a asus laptop w2. Both run windows xp sp2 and are connected to a wireless network (using a netgear dg834g). Reception is on the whole good or excellent for both machines. Also we use a 64bit wep security key on the network. My brother and i would like to play games together online or via our network. The dell has no problems with ping while wireless. However, the laptop has a undulating wave like ping profile (i.e. Ping is fine around 30-50 and then it shoots up into the hundreds) i have noticed this isn't limited to gaming but also when surfing the net. When i ping websites through the command window the pings can be very low or extremely high. I have tried disabling norton anti-virus but this doesn't seem to make a difference. I don't think there is any adware as i have scanned with adaware and spybot s&d and also the laptop is only about 2 weeks old. Also when we connect the laptop to the network via ethernet(100) the pings are fine. I am usually very good with sorting out computers but this really has me stumped. My only theory is that maybe the traffic in the air is clashing but that wouldnt explain why the desktop is fine.

Wireless Network Packets Received 0

I have an ad-hoc wireless network at home to link 2 computers together (one upstairs one downstairs). I can connect to the network with no problems and the signal strength is good but both pc's are sending packets but not receiving any. We had it working before but i reformatted my hard drive due to it breaking. It is really getting on my nerves now! Please tell me what to do to fix it or if you have the same problem.

How To Connect Laptop To A Wireless Network ?

How to connect my laptop to a wireless network? I just moved into a new house. And i bought a new laptop. Our internet network thing is wireless. So we dont need any wires or anything(duh). We have two other computers that work perfectly fine and the internet is working. But with my laptop, it has the computer sign at the bottom that says, "network cable unplugged" on the "network connections" window. It is a lan connection. Whatever that is. And the icon on the bottom right corner of the computer screen has a red 'x' on it. On our two computers that are working, the internet is up, and the network thing is fine. Our internet connection is not locked, and i would know the ip address(the password) to it anyways. But the internet connection is open and public, and i know the name of it and everything. But that stuff only matters once you get past the network unplugged crap. I dont know what else to do, ive spent hours working on it.

Not All Computers Will Connect To Wireless Network

I've set up a wireless network at home, but not all the computers will connect to it. What do i do? I set up an encrypted wireless network (wpa-2 tkip/aes) with no problems at all and was able to connect an ipod touch, a netbook with windows 7, and a laptop with windows xp after entering the password. However, my laptop with windows vista cannot access the internet after connecting to the network. If i take the encryption off then i can access the interent but obviously i don't want to have an open network. Obviously there is some problem with the way my laptop (a toshiba satellite if that means anything) deals with the encryption. I've tried the steps my computer recommended including turning the router and modem on and off, resetting the wireless adapter on my computer and refreshing my ip address all to no avail. Any ideas?

How To Secure Bsnl Wireless Network?

How can i secure my bsnl wireless network?

Answer:-
1) find the default user and password to access your router's user interface: http://routerpasswords.com/

2) connect your computer to the router using an ethernet cable. Open your browser and go to http://192. 168. 1. 1

3) key in the default user and password. If the defaults don't work then you have to call up the company or person who set up your wifi. If you still can't get the user and the password then the only option left is to reset it by pushing a pin or tip of a pen through the small hole located at the back of the router. Hold it until the power goes off and back on. This usually takes about 5-30 secs depending on the router brand. It will erase and reset your router to defaults. You may now log in using the default user and password and configure your router. 4) look for the wireless settings page. Setup the password for the wifi connection. Use wpa2 personal encryption instead of wep as the wep is easy to break. 5) you will also need to change the default user logon name and password so nobody can remotely change your settings unless they personally go to your house and reset the router the way you just did. 6) you can also change the router's default ssid (service set identifier) to an ambiguous name so nobody will know what brand of router you are using and from what source the wifi signal is coming from. Don't put your name on it unless you want to. If you want to know more information, read your router's manual.
