Suggestions On A Wired, Optical, Usb Mouse
Replies: 14 | Post Date: 13-05-2006, 02:00 AM | User: Darussiaman | Forums: hardwareforums.comDoes anyone have any suggestions on a wired, optical, usb mouse which is sturdy and will last a long time? I want to get one as a present for my roommate, but he has a tendency to slam either his keyboard or mouse when he gets owned in call of duty. His current mouse already clicks quite badly and it's also a wireless which means it eats a ton of batteries, which he doesn't like. So it has to be optical and wired and usb (his ps/2 port for mouse seems to not work), and as damage-resistant as possible! Oh yeah, also something not really expensive. Any ideas?

Suggestions On Wireless Or Wired Keyboard / Mouse
I'm still deciding whether or not i would want a wireless setup. I've had a love/hate relationship with them. Anyway, should i go for the clutter with wired keyboard/mouse? What would you suggest?
Or should i go for the wireless components? If i do, i'd like some sort of recharger for them. What would you suggest?

Ergonomic Mouse Device - Suggestions
I'm on the comp alot, and my wrist hurts from all the mousing around. I tried looking into two products so far, and neither are really working for me. The first was a handheld touchpad that i got off of ebay. It's ok, but even after using it out for a while, the speed is just not there with day to day tasks. (Mousing around, right clicking on a link and telling to it to open in a new tab. I do this alot with most of my web surfing). The one i'm currently using is the evoluent vertical mouse. First thing is right out of the box, it has "stuttering" issues. If the mouse is completely motionless, the pointer will sometimes stutter around the screen, as if i'm shaking my hand. This obviously makes for some mis-clicks with things. Also, as great as it sounded, it's just not entirely working out speedwise either. I am no where near as speedy as with a regular mouse of clicking on things and navigating drop down menus to click on options, etc. So, does anyone have anything they use that they like? I was recently thinking about a pen mouse or such. Thinking about it, there wouldn't be any need for useability retraining of my hand, we've all been using/holding pencils/pens for a long time. Looking at the grip though, holding a regular mouse, and then going to holding a pen, there isn't much change in the wrist/hand, so i wonder if that would even give me any benefit? (I also use 3 monitors, so if that makes a difference, i think i saw something about using multiple monitors and not being able to use mouse pen pads?

Suggestions For Wireless Keyboard, Mouse For Htpc / Gaming
Okay got my new htpc rig set up on my 62" dlp so i can now do my ht and gaming now. My old keyboard and mouse won't cut it (old logitch and mce kb). I have tried the logitech mx5000 bluetooth mouse and keyboard, and bottom line, lag is impossible. It's like a good 2-3 second delay at random intervals. My next choice i was considiring was the ms desktop elite, but have read similar but lots fewer complaints about lag. I need a mouse that at least has 1 or two side buttons. Distance from htpc to couch is in the 10' to 12' range max. I'm open to suggestions and or experience with the ms elite.

Optical Mouse Behave Erratically
I had a normal optical mouse, it started to behave erratically, and as i didn't had other mouse i decided to buy a creative wireless optical 3000. Before i used ps/2 port, but with the new mouse now i use usb, but it still behaves erratically, and sometimes the mouse stops responding, for short periods of time.

Notebook Optical Mouse Problem
I just bought a new toshiba laptop satellite s207 with 2. 66ghz and 3 usb ports (usb 2. 0) i also bought a memorex optical mouse along with it. The problem is, the mouse does not work if it is plugged in before turning on the laptop. If i unplug and re-plug it while the laptop is on, it starts working. I tried this with a microsoft optical mouse and one other named 'belkin', the problem persists. When i turn on the laptop, the mouse turns on, you can see the laser glowing. It stays on until windows startup. As windows xp startup screen changes to the blue welcome screen, the mice stop functioning. I also installed the drivers for the mouse but nothing changes. This does not seem like a hardware problem because the mouse does function eventually when you re-plug it at windows xp. I tried the mouse with another laptop, it works fine. I tried turning off the touch pad, nothing changes. I tried changing the usb slots, no change. One detail: when you go to the mouse section in control panel, in the hardware tab it shows ps/2 compatible mouse plugged into ps2 port. But i don't have anything like this. There's definitely a problem with windows, can anyone help?

Driver For Gateway Wireless Optical Mouse
I picked up a gateway wireless optical mouse, model # mr-0350t, with a receiver model # rr-0403u, at a computer show. When i connected the receiver to my usb port, my computer began the new hardware recognition process. I realized i did not have 2 aa batteries for the mouse and aborted the installation process. After i picked up and installed the batteries and reconnected to receiver to the usb port, the new hardware process did not automatically commence. The light on the mouse is lit. However, i cannot get the mouse to function. I do not see it in device manager, and have not been able to find a way to install it. I tried dicsonnecting the receiver, rebooting and reconnecting the receiver, without success. Apparently, i must obtain the specific driver for this mouse in order for it to function. The gateway site does not have a driver for this mouse. Does anyone know who manufactures this mouse for gateway, and where i can get the driver? My os is xp professional.

Suggestions On Usb Flash Drive To Buy
I recently have been forced to enter the market for a new usb flash drive due to an unfortunate accident with my previous one (now deceased. Ended up tripping over the lanyard it was on, ripping it out of the port sideways, removing the connector part). I'm looking for something a little more rugged. I am a student, and i frequently toss it into my backpack. I am also looking for something in the 8gb range. I sync all of my school files onto my flash drive for convenience (about a gig), plus i now am in a graphic design course. And i could always use some extra space. One thing i am completely in-the-dark about is read/write speeds. I have no idea what good speeds for these are. If anyone could offer me some suggestions, i would appreciate it. Just to get some other opinions, other than my own. And i really don't care about any security software and whatnot. The drive will need to work cross-platform, and i don't wanna screw with any of that stuff.

Logitech Optical Mouse Pointer Hesitates Or Goes Ballistic
If i move it slowly enough it performs properly but any rapid movement and it acts pretty much the same way a roller mouse would act if the rollers and/or ball needed to be cleaned, the pointer hesitates or goes ballistic. I’ve checked the optics and the surface on which it is used to make sure they are clean but it has no effect. Has anyone else experienced this or know how to fix it?

Swiss Gear Wireless Optical Mobile Mouse Panther 2 Problem
I just got a new wireless mouse the "swiss gear wireless optical mini mobile mouse panter 2". And for install it says: 1. Plug in usb receiver, 2. While usb receiver is plugged in, press button on the top of the reciever. 3. Click mouse "connect" button once on bottom of mouse within 5 seconds after clicking the "connect" button one the receiver. 4. Reveiver led will start blinking, when connection is established. Move the mouse around to test if successful. If the synchronization is not successful: a. Remove batteries and unplug receiver. B. Wait 20 seconds and try steps 1 to 5 again. Now i did all that correctly and it does connect, because when i move the mouse around the led on the receiver blinks, but the pointer doesn't move. Now when it windows says it looks for a device driver it finds it but it cant install it and this is what i get. And i tried to install a default driver that vista has and it says it fails when it trys to install that way to. So what is my problem? What can i do? And i cant find a driver from the website for this mouse.

Optical Mouse Pointer Doesn't Stop By Edge Of The Screen Display
I just bought a new microsoft wireless / optical mouse ver 2. 0a. I liked it a lot over my previous a4tech mouse. The problem is that when i move it to the full left side of the screen the pointer doesn't stop by the edge of the screen display, it disappears. It seem that the mouse is sensing a wider display on the left side only. Moving it to the top, bottom and right side it stops by the edge exactly. Does the mouse have a hardware defect?

Mouse Pad With ' Wrist Rest ' - Suggestions
I recently got a g7 and was wondering what type of mouse pad i should get to use with it. I would prefer something with a 'wrist rest' and not something that is going to take up my whole desk. The pad i got now is kinda small and the mouse seems to be jumping around when i use it.

Usb Sound Card With 5.1 Output Via Optical Or Digital Coax
I'm using an older computer as kind of an htpc. It only has stereo 3. 5mm jack output. I'd like to hook it up to my receiver to watch movies in surround sound. Is there a usb "sound card" that will give me 5. 1 digital output using toslink / optical?
