Ok so my friend took the western digital 8gb out of his xbox, and he gave it to me. I want to use it as an extra slave for music, and no matter now i set the jumpers or which spot i set it on the ide cable it will not show up. I also tried it as a master and putting an os on it, no go, still won't work. Does anyone know why the hdd won't work ? Does microsoft do something to them to make them only function in an xbox?

Ok i have the enermax temp & fan controller for my 3 1/2 bay, and whenever i turn my fans up on my vantec nexus the alarm goes off on the evermax that the other fan speeds are dropping, even though i have no fans connected to the enermax ctrl. What could cause this? Only thing i could think of is they are on the same line from the psu and when i increase voltage on one the other looses? I'm going to disassemble tomorrow or next week to check out the situation. Last q is about bf1942. When it opens and the 1st ea screen comes up the sounds is crackling like a mofo and its choppy, its like that all the way to the main menu. Then when i join a server and it loads everything is smooth as skilk. Anyone know why?

I tried changing the sound settings to default, and then to support my hardware (in sig). But it didn't make a difference. And bf1942 is the only game it happens with. Oh and hes going to be putting some led's in his xbox controller dongles, what kind of inverter will we need for the led's ?

How To Get Xbox Live On My Xbox 360?

So ive been researching on how to get xbox live on my xbox 360 so i can play against other players all over on my 360, and what ive heard is i need a ethernet cord and i need to hook it up to my modem and the back of my xbox 360 and then go on my xbox 360 and create a xbox live account and go through all that and get a gold pass instead of silver and after i pay with my credit card for it it should be all hooked up, please tell me if this isright or not, and if not, please tell me what i need to do.

Transfer Data Including Windows Xp From Old Hdd To New Hdd

Im getting a new 250gig sataii hard drive, with 16mb cache. Just like to know if there is any simple way of transferring all my old stuff on the current drive onto this new drive without too much trouble. Like is there a way of transferring the whole os (windows xp), all the progs and stuff onto this new hdd through an image or in an easy way?

Xbox Cant Connect

Have created a dmz i have connected ports 88, 2074, 3074 and all the other ones needed by xbox, and yet when i try to join my friends games it says there may be network issues! My internet is 2. 5mb/350kbs, so that should be good for gaming. But thing is it is a wireless connection. But still i should be able to connect to friends. So what am i doing wrong, or will i have to contact microsoft and ask them whats wrong. Cause my friend said mine and his connection are incompatible, even though we live . 5 km from each other and go off the same internet company.

Xbox Keeps Turning Off

Ok, my cousins came over for labor day weekend. They played more than 16 hrs in a 48 hr period. When they played it turned off after about 3-4 hours. I did play for 3 hrs before they came over, and this was 2 hrs before they came over. I wanted to play after 2-4 of them being away. It just shut down on me. I waited for 1-3 hrs and it did the same thing. I went to school came back and tried again at 5:00. It shut down again. Please tell me any solutions excluding 1-800-4my-xbox.

Should I Get An Xbox Or Ps3?

Well it all depends on what type of games you want to play, if your more in to sports i would get the xbox because the sports games on the xbox are just better, on the other hand if you like fps games i would get the ps3 cause they play better on the ps3, now there are some exceptions like halo and gears of war. Also you have to think about how much you are willing to spend while they cost about the same with the xbox to play online you have to pay a monthly fee. All around i prefer the xbox, because i play halo, and they have a better online community. Xbox- $299 + $47/year

5.1 Gaming Headset For Xbox

Do these exist? My zalman theatre 6 headphones (non usb version) have died after 2 years so i have dropped back to a pair of cheap hd201 sennheiser stereo headphones but they are not great for pc games. After using 5. 1 headphones for so long the software positional effect that kicks in when you select stereo in games like lfd2 sounds tinny so i am after a new pair of surround headphones. I am tempted to get another pair of zalmans but it would be nice to get 5. 1 out of my xbox 360 for headphones - something i currently can't do. My guess is they would need a built in or separate headphone amp that can accept 5. 1 digital and output it to 3 x 3. 5mm jacks. Anyone know of a good set that does this? I thought a new sound card like an x-fi might be able to do this but from what i can gather from google they can only decode stereo digital signals. If this cannot be done the local store down the road also has a razor hp-1 gaming headset - i'm wondering if anyone has used these and if they compare favourably to the zalmans?

Xbox On Lcd Monitor

I'm in the market to get some kind of lcd monitor. The problem is. The ones i've looked at don't have the red, white and yellow inputs that the xbox uses to hook up to tvs. So far, the only options to remedy this, that i know of are. A vga box, which i have absolutely no idea what that means. And a tv tuner box. Now, from what i understand, with the tv tuner, if you get a really crappy, cheap one, the resolution goes to crap and you can only really use a tiny portion of the screen with any amount of clarity. Does this go the same with a vga box? Are there any other option? I'm not really looking to blow alot on this piece.

Xbox Cant Connect To Windows 7 Pc

I'm trying to connect my xbox to my laptop, but my xbox will not detect my pc. It detects my older pc (which runs win 7 too, and i used to use my xbox on that computer), but not my laptop. I turned off my firewalls to see if that was the problem, but it still didnt work. Also, my laptop is networked with the older computer, so network sharing is enabled and running fine.

Xbox Only Connect To Laptop When It Is On

My xbox will only connect to the laptop when my laptop is on. Basically, i need to use my xbox to play music from my pc, but in order to do this it has to connect to the pc, and it can only connect to the pc if the pc is on. Surely there's something wrong with that? If there is, could you tell me how i could fix it? Or perhaps i'm just being thick?

Two Xbox Live Account In One

Ok so my friend accidentally took my profile on his hardrive, and he said to recover my gamertag. So i went to that typed my username and my email and password. But it says like the email is already being used for another profile. So went on xbox.com signed in and it says my gamertag is chaale996. Now when i made my account it asks for a gamertag. The first one i tried was chaale996 but it was denied. So then i chose supabananaman which is the profile i use all the time on my xbox. After i was confused on why it doesnt says supabananaman which is the profile i signed up with that doesnt say that when i signed into xbox.com. I sent xbox support a message telling them about it. I have no reply yet. So now i ask you people here, why when i sign in doesnt it say my actual gamertag hrrm. They must of screwed up when they created it for me. Or maybe i used a different email. That couldnt be cause i always had the email i used gaming stuff on. Is there anyway i can check what my email or password is when i do get my profile back soon? Im just worried if i did something wrong on my profile or the xbox people did. Thanks for reading this and help in any way.

I Have Ps3 Should I Buy Xbox?

I own both systems and i can tell you from experience, its all about what kinda gamer you are. Both systems are pretty good i personally think that the ps3 is better when it comes to graphics, exclusives (like uncharted 2, killzone 2, god of war 3, metal gear 4). I mean the ps3 does it all. So if i had to choose one id choose the ps3 but i will say this about the xbox, personally i think the multiplayer is better then the ps3. Halo, gears of war, left for dead are some of the best multi players ive ever seen. So if you just like playing with all your friend and online yea get the 360 but if you just like plugging in to your system for a couple days and knocking out hours of game play stick with the ps3. Alot of the games on xbox are on the ps3 anyway now so good luck with ur decision.

Im on a budget. I have to sell my ps2 and all my 16 games. Im selling my ps2 and 3 games to a collector for 160. Then im going to sell the rest of my games. Which after that's all said and done should leave me with im guessing 200. I know the xbox is cheaper but ive always had a playstation system. When i go to my friends house and plays his xbox360 the controls are soo weird. I want a ps3 but idk if i get it i might have to sell my ds lite to. What should i get. Xbox Or Ps3 Through Computer Audio

Anyone have any stories to share or wisdom to impart regarding console-to-computer hookups, either xbox360 or playstation3?

My intention here is to avoid having to get an av receiver or an external audio decoder. I'd like to plug it into my computer monitor and speakers (without having to plug/unplug anything every time i want to use either console or computer). It looks possible to do hdmi > dvi cable from console to lcd monitor directly for digital 1080 resolution display (monitor has dual dvi inputs so that i can keep the computer hooked up at same time). For audio i was considering optical toslink from console into my htomega sound card (which has optical toslink in and out ports), which is currently running analog out to the speakers.

Speaker Solution For Xbox 360

I'm trying to find a speaker solution for my little xbox 360 movies/gaming corner. I'm trying to not spend a bunch of cash on it or make it a big purchase because the space it's in is small. I'm using a 24 inch asus monitor with an hdmi input, but the built-in speakers are terrible. I was toying with the idea for a small 5. 1 surround sound system for gaming, the trouble being the only thing i could find that fit the bill was the logitech z-5500 and i'm certainly not up for shelling out over $300. Wondering if anyone knows of anything with an optical input and isn't going to cost me more than $150-$200. Or is there a chance that i could use an old set of creative 5. 1 pc speakers that i have with a decoder. I was looking at them but none of them seemed compatible with the 3, 1/8 inch jacks that the speakers have connecting them. Worst comes to worst and i'll just buy a 2. 1 set but ideally i'd like to know if there is a 5. 1 solution that's not bank breaking.

Xbox 360 Usb Hub

Anyway, the xbox 360:

-Usb ports, hubs, controllers-
-Supports usb keyboards. Just plug your usb keyboard to the xbox 360, and type away (be it to fill in data in the dashboard, to send messages to other players, or to use in psu, any usb keyboard will work with the xbox 360)

-Supports 4 wired controllers. You just need to use a usb hub (all the usb stuff can be connected to usb hubs, including the webcam, wireless adapter, etc)

-Only supports wireless microsoft controllers. That means we won't see wireless guitars for guitar hero ii, or any other similar stuff, other than the ms wireless products (wireless wheel, controller and communicator)

-You can keep charging your controllers with your xbox 360 turned off. Just turn off the console like you would any other time (with your controllers already connected), and after 2 or 3 seconds your controllers should light up, and the charging leds should turn up again (the console will keep making a very low "hum", despite all the leds being turned off). When the controllers are charged the console will totally shut off. -The 360 doesn't read usb hdds that are formatted for ntfs. Which is a bummer if you have hd downloads, as they can typically exceed the 4gb file size limit of fat32. [By bivith]

-You can use your wired xbox 360 controller on your windows xp pc. -Dashboard tricks-
-Supports custom dashboard background images. Go to your media blade, select pictures, select either your pc (with shared pictures via media connect) or a usb device, place the cursor over the picture you wish to put in the background, and press x (do not select the picture, you need to be on the directory screen). You cannot put different pictures in different blades however. -You can turn on the console remotely by pressing the guide button or the start button on the controller for 2 or 3 seconds. You can also turn it off remotely, by pressing the guide button for 5 seconds, where a new menu will pop up, asking you if you want to turn off the console or turn off the wireless controller. -Pressing the guide button when the notification for friend logging on appears will bring up their gamer-card, allowing you to message or invite them to your game. Pressing when you win an achievement shows the achievement screen when you receive a message shows you the message, etc. -You can disable communication from anyone who is not on your friends list. -The 360 recognizes wmp and m3u play-list files, use these to create play-lists quicker and easier than with the 360's interface. [By tiger_walts & nickthegun] this is very handy. Create a play-list of the mp3s on your pc, put the folder with the play-list shared on the media connect, and that play-list should show up under play-lists in your music player screen. -If you're ripping music to your 360 hdd, it does support cddb lookups so you don't have to enter song titles manually. -Hardware problems-
-Don't use a cheap surge protector/plug strip. It'll underfeed your xbox 360, and it might result in occasional crashes. -Don't ever move your xbox 360 with a disk inside. It might scratch the disk or damage the lens. Don't put it standing or lying down either, with a disk inside, much less while the console is turned on. -Avoid carpets and such fabrics. Lay the console on top of cold materials (a wood desk, stone floor, etc). Never on top of carpets because these will heat up the console considerably. Don't stack the xbox on top of other electronic devices. This goes to every electronic device actually. Avoid carpets and such, and stacking them up is usually not a good idea (specially hot stuff like the xbox 360, or a ps3).

Computer Monitor With Xbox 360

I'm looking into buying a new monitor that i can play my xbox 360 on because i do not have the money for a brand new tv. I found a 19" flat panel viewsonic for 430$. I believe it has 1280 x 1024 resolution. Is there any specifics i should look for before buying it? 360 games run at 720p and 1080 dpi. Can i connect it with vga box? Or do i need a monitor/tv with video connections? Is viewsonic a reliable brand? Anyone with experience playing a vg system on a monitor, your comments would be appreciated.

Xbox 360 Connection Laggy

I have a wireless connection from my xbox to my router. The router and modem both work fine, because they're pretty new, and all other computers in the house work fine on the internet. However, my xbox connection is extremely laggy. I can connect to xbox live when i turn my xbox on, after waiting about 10 seconds. When i test my xbl connection, its says xbox live is up and running. When i play games, i have a one bar connection, (even though when i test my connection, i have full bars) and move around in 40 foot increments (basically, i lag extremely hard). When i try a wired connection, it seems to fix the problem, but i want to be able to have a wireless connection, so i don't have to feed an ethernet cable through the house. When i bring my xbox and my adapter to friends houses, it works fine. At my house, i have the proper xbox ports open, and nat is open. There is usually only one other computer in the house online when i'm online with the xbox, but when i get on by myself, it still doesn't work. Also, most times when i turn my xbox on, my xbox doesn't recognize that my adapter is plugged in, so i have to replug it in. If you are somehow able to answer my problem, i am not only impressed, but you will get best answer, if it is a solution. Oh, also, i have tried restarting my modem and router. Doesn't help at all.

Use Computer To Get Wireless Connection For Xbox

Can i use my computer to get a wireless connection for my xbox? I was wondering if i could plug an ethernet cable into my computer on one end and my xbox on the other to get a wireless connection since i don't have a plug nearby.
