What Kind Of Graphics Card Should I Get?

I did post once in the general hardware forum and got a great answer by stang, but i have not gotten anything after that for a few days. So, i thought it might be appropriate to try and post in the video card forums and just narrow down my question. Alright, i've been looking for a new graphics card to get, and i've already been through so much trouble trying to find a good one that i might as well go through a little more trouble to find a decent one. My computer is an hp pavillion a1630n with everything still original. If theres any other info yol may need, feel free to tell me where to find it. Im looking for a card that will mainly just last me a long time while playing graphic intensive games smoothly. My budget for the card is $200, which so far i've noticed can buy some good cards off newegg or tigerdirect. Atm i have a 300w psu, so im aware that i may need an upgrade with that too. Im thinking about getting ocz stealthxstream 700w since its only $70 after mail in rebate. Apparently theres no need to even have a 700w with my pc, but its pretty cheap and i do need a new psu anyway. Any thoughts on that?

Also, i was actually very close to buying a xfx geforce gtx 260 black edition (with 2 included games as well!), But according to the reply in my other post, that would be a tad too powerful for my pc. With the goals mentioned in the paragraph above (first sentence) in mind, what would be the best card suited for me?

Graphics Card Or Motherboard Problem

I am helping a friend out but trying to fix their pc. Their pc stopped working a few days ago. It would not boot up whatsoever it was turning on but and you can hear the hardrive and fan working but it was not beeping as if there is not enough power getting to the pc. I took the pc home and opened it up to have a look it was incredibly dusty. I took out the memory ram and placed it into a different slot. After this the pc booted up but there was 1 long beep followed by 3 shorts beeps on start up. The bios screen said there was a cmos error and it had to be reset i rest the cmos and bios to optimum settings and the pc worked fine. Everytime i tested the boot up i got the same 1 long beep and 3 short beeps followed by 2 quick beeps a little later on. The pc booted up 7 times on the trot and even when i tried it later in the day it booted up. The next day i tested it and it didn't boot up. I moved the memory ram into the third slot and the pc booted up again with the 1 long beep and the 3 shorts beeps. I wondered if the ram slots were going on the motherboard as i have tested a new memory chip in the pc and it did exactly the same thing. Looking up the beep codes they state that it could either be a memory problem (not seated properly or bad memory) or a graphics card problem. I unfortunately cannot put a new graphics card in as i don't have access to one at present. I live in the sticks in spain and because of this it is not too easy to get hold of parts. I was just wondering if this sounds like a motherboard or graphics card problem. I realise that it is hard to say without seeing the pc but if anyone could point me in the right direction in terms of tests i could do or any thoughts it would be very much appreciated. I don't want to tell them to fork out for a new graphics card or motherboard and find out that still doesn't solve the problem.

Graphics Card Memory Interface

I wanted to get a new grphics card that was uner $70 and better than my geforce 5200. I found the radeon 9600se, everything seems to be better about that card than mine except the memory interface. My 5200 has 128bit but the 9600se has only 64bit, how much of a factor does that plaay in games and stuff?

4870 Graphics Card Problem

I have a core 2 quad q6600 cpu with an intel dg33tl motherboard and a silverstone strider 600w st60f psu. I got a new bfg gtx 285 for my core i7 920 machine and wanted to install my saphire radeon 4870 1gb graphics card that was working with the i7 machine in the core 2 quad machine. When i turn it on it sits at the intel motherboard screen and never continues to boot. It says to hit f2 to enter bios, but hitting f2 does nothing. Taking the graphics card out and using the onboard video will allow it to boot like normal. I will install the card in my i7 machine to test it to see if that's the problem. But i have a feeling the psu might be the problem. Although 600w should be enough. It is rated to do up to 42a combined from the four 12 volt rails. I have 2 fans, 2 hard drives, 1 optical drive and 4 sticks of ram in the system. I seem to have really bad luck with computers. Any suggestions.

Graphics Card With Pci Express 2.0

I am looking into building my own computer. I have found the mobo and video card i like, but i'm not sure how well they will work together. (Sorry for no links, but this is my first post)gigabyte ga-p35-ds3l lga 775 intel p35evga 512-p3-n801-ar geforce 8800gt 512mb 256-bit gddr3 pci express 2. 0 x16
The video card uses pci express x16 2. 0, while the motherboard does not. I know pci express 2. 0 is backwards compatible and the video card will work, but i am concerned about wasted performance. Will this video card compute faster than it can send data, and, if so, what will be the approximate performance loss? I would upgrade the mobo, but they are more expensive than i would like to pay.

Graphics Card For 19 Inch Ws Monitor

New to graphics and monitors, so chances are it will be easy to solve. I have just been give a 19'' widescreen lcd for crimbo. I am currently running onboard graphics as i don't need anything special. The highest resolution i can get is 1280 x 1024, but when in widescreen mode, it stretches everything and look rubbish. I have looked at the papers that have came with it and the read as follows:-

16:10
19'' widescreen
Max res 1440 x 900

I cant seem to find this setting in my properties, so i assume i will need a graphics card upgrade. Am i on the right lines? Or am i missing out something very simple? I would really like to have the monitor on widescreen and have the resolution so that it fills the screen without the stretching. This will maximize the monitor and my workspace.

Graphics Card For Hp Pavilion A1747c

But it says i need a 400w psu to run it. I know that my psu is 300w, so it probably can't run it. Problem is, i'm kind of on a budget, so i really don't want to spend more than 50 dollars on a psu (if possible).could anyone recommend me a good psu that can run this card, that will be compatible with my hp pavilion model?

Graphics Card For Hp Pavilion A6337c

The recommended graphics card from hp is a ati radeon x1650pro pcie 512mb. I have heard some bad things about this card. Further more, anymore 512 mb is like so small. So, what graphics card would i need for my hp and what is the highest mb/gm/t i would be able to get? Really interested in knowing the prices and where to get the best deal. Oh, and while your are at it can you wash my windows, polish the chrome on my car and mow my lawn? I have a nasty eye infection and am not aloud to do outside and play. Thus, i am working on my computer. I would prefer to buy through amazon if i can get it through them. However, i am more interested in getting the best card for my money.

Pci Express Graphics Card Expansion

Just wondering what a pci express graphics card expansion is for? My motherboard has one (looks just like the other 2 pci express x16, except the expansion is blue). My motherboard says it has:

- Two pci slots
- Two pci express x1 slots
- Three pci express x16 graphics slots
- One pci express x16 graphics expansion slot (electrical x8)

But my motherboard has 7 slots (not 8 as indicated above). So is the one pci express expansion slot included in the three pci express x16 graphics slots? And if so, can i use the expansion slot as the 2nd slot to run sli from? (Dunno what electrical x8 will do). And according to my motherboard's diagram, it shows the 2 pci express x16 graphic slots are for sli. Doesn't mention the expansion one being for sli. So confused, but the reason i'm asking, is if i can use the expansion slot for sli, then it will free up an extra pci slot so i can get a tv capture card.

I turned hardware acceleration to the minimum and it didnt help either. Tried installing the newest display driver no luck either. Graphics Card For Dell Dimension 4700

What is the best graphics card for a dell dimension 4700?

Answer:-
Here are the full specifications of your computer. http://reviews. Cnet.com/desktops/dell-dimension-4700-desktop/1707-3118_7-30981395.html

So you have one pci-ex16 slot. Don't worry about the version as all pci-ex16 2. 0 cards are backward compatible with pci-ex16 1. 0 and 1, 1. The only problem is 300 watts of power supply which limits your selection. For this power supply, the best cards you can insert are radeon hd 4670 and radeon hd 5570. This cards are pretty good to play games on your 1280x1024 monitor resolution. http://bit. Ly/cu6mrz

Hd 5570 even have low power consumption than hd 4670 along with same performance but cost little more. Still your psu can handle hd 4670. http://bit. Ly/bdidtz

Hd 4670 is a good option for your current system and monitor resolution.

Overclocking Intel X3100 Graphics Card

Can i overclock an intel g33/g31 (x3100) graphics card with rivatuner?

Answer:-
No. Because it's not a graphics card. It's a graphics adapter. You can try to improve performance by using a software such as gmabooster, but i doubt you'll get significant improvement, plus it's riskier than overclocking a dedicated graphics card.

" I've heard from others that it is possible to change the graphics card in a laptop if it has the pci express, but i would think that it would be more of an issue that a higher quality graphics card may not fit in the case of the laptop.
