Can Wireless Keyboard Disrupt A Wireless Router Signal ?
Replies: 5 | Post Date: February 19th, 2007, 11:10 AM | User: Makzan | Forums: forums.devshed.comDoes anyone know if a wireless keyboard or mouse can disrupt a wireless router signal or vice-versa?
If it could, how can this problem be avoided?

Wireless Router Signal Is Dead
I just set up my wireless router and 2 of the 3 computers in my house are with working internet. The computer which has the router connected to it is a desktop running windows vista. The computer i am on is a laptop running windows 7. And the laptop which is not working is a lenovo netbook the second the wireless connection was establish i had signal. And now the signal is dead input the password to the router with the signal being broadcast to my laptop with a stable signal from the desktop. The signal going to the netbook ends with limited connectivity. I tried to disable the firewall to see if the signal was being block and that did not work. I have repeatedly tried to coax the router and attempt to reset it and nothing works. Im not sure how to establish the connection to the one laptop. Do i need to reset my router regardless of the fact i have the working connection? What do i need to do to fix it?

Wireless Keyboard / Mouse With Good Signal
Right now i have a microsoft wireless comfort keyboard and mouse set. Its comfy and works well overall, except for the fact that the rf signal sucks. Unless the receiver and keyboard or mouse are in the same plane as each other on a table etc. Typing gets weird and the mouse pointer will move but i cant click. Even so much as a cup or remote control sitting between the receiver and mouse throws it off. I had a similar but older mouse from microsoft that i got for free that was crappy too, but dismissed it as being used and old. I'm convinced that perhaps microsoft rf desktop sets just don't cut it. So, unless someone has a solution or advice for the above problem - i'd actually like some suggestions for good wireless keyboards, mice, or sets.
I really only ever sit at most 6 ft (2m) from my computer, so i don't need something amazing and expensive, just better than what i have. Shortcut and media keys aren't a big deal, but would be nice. Battery life is also not a big deal, i have plenty of rechargeable batteries. In any case, can anyone chime in and tell me what they are using and what it performs like? What kind of distance can u get? Where do you have your receiver? What kind of possible interference are you dealing with? ( I have wifi, bluetooth and florescent lights that could be having an effect on the signal)
I also have a question about bluetooth sets. Can you use them in the bios or in the os without bluetooth software? Or do you have to wait till the os boots up fully?

Connect Wireless Router To Another Wireless Router
I was wondering if there was a way to connect one wireless router to another. I have two wireless/wired routers, and i do not feel like buying a wireless stick for my desktop. I'd rather just connect the routers somehow. Attaching one long cable to the router is not an option. I would have used a cable , but my modem is in a corner where my couches are and other furniture in the way. That's why i say connect the two some how. I do not have any other places to put them since the cable company only opened a select amount of ports. The routers are both netgears, which as i stated are wireles/wired. Links or detailed information will be appreciated.

Boosting Wireless Signal
I'm having a problem with my wireless network keeping a stable connection. It's really good most of the time, but at times like when i goto play an online game of dawn of war 40k it wants to briefly drop the connection just long enough to drop me from the game. There is only one wall and 30ft. (At most) between my computer and the wireless router (it's an "at&t 2wire"). And no microwaves being used only a baby monitor in the next room (that's always been there though). Though within the last year my bro's friend (whom i bought my wireless adapter from) came over when i told him my connection was getting bad. He pulled up (what i think) was the online router configuration and turned up some sort of power output setting that boosted the router's signal strength. Or so it seemed. After that my connection was completely stable. Anyways, to get to the point, does this sound right and how do i get to it? (The online router configuration that is). Oh and could what i have seen just be one of the options in the wireless lan card properties in device manager under the advanced tab?

Adsl Modem / Router With Wireless Netgear Router
I have a problem and do not know where else to go. I currently have an adsl+2 modem/router and recently bought a netgear wireless rangemax 240 router for wireless capabilities. I cannot get the two to work together. It doesn't help that im very in-experienced with networking either. My connection is pppoe and i need a sign in. Is there a way to bridge the 2 routers together?
I plug my netgear into the modem and it receives no internet signal. Ive tried numerous ways of doing it. Nothing works. I don't know if im suppose to use port forwarding or what. Any information would help and please, if you could. Bust it down 2 y/o style so i understand

Connecting Wireless Router To Regular Router
Can i connect a wireless router to a regular router? Ill be getting a psp for the bday and my school issue laptop tomorrow. Both of which ill need a wireless connection if im gonna get online, however, my own and my moms desktops do not have wireless capability and are hooked to our cable modem with a regular 5 port netgear router. Im thinking about buying a wireless router, but i cant unplug the other router to hook the wireless to the modem. I dont know much about wireless - can i just take the lan between the wired router and a wireless one? Would that work? Am i even making sense, ahaha?

Wireless Internet Connection Vary In Speed & Signal Strength
What would cause my wireless internet connection to vary in speed and signal strength? So i have a dell and connect through high speed internet cable, broadcasting wireless through the house. When i log on, the speed is usually very low (24 mbps) and the strength is low. Eventually it makes its way up to 56 (?) Mbps and a very good signal strength. Is this my issue with the computer/wireless or an issue with the cable company?

I also just built a media pc, which doesn't have an expansion slot for a wireless card. Are the usb wireless connections any good? Could someone recommend any? I plan on downloading torrents, streaming tv, and occasionally playing way older games (starcraft, etc)

Wireless N Router / Adapters
I'm considering upgrading my old 802. 11g network to a dual-band 802. 11n one. I'll be using two desktops (one being an htpc), and two laptops which already have intel 5100agn wi-fi cards. What i'm wondering, is what some good dual-band routers and desktop cards/adapters would be. I'd prefer a usb adapter, although pci would be ok if it would offer noticeably better performance. I definitely will need dual-band capability, since the htpc is currently being overwhelmed by a lot of wi-fi signals in the 2. 4ghz range.

How Long Does A Wireless Router Last ?
I have had 2 wireless routers and i doubt either has lasted 12 months. The 'wired' connections work fine, but the wireless is sporadic. I thought is was the wireless card for my laptop, but a brand new wireless usb adapter does the same thing: it does not see my wireless router. The new card does find my neighbors wireless connection, but not the router sitting 2 feet away. I had a linksys and now a dlink and the wireless parts have died while the wired ports are fine. Am i doing something wrong? Is there anyway to test the wireless connection to confirm that it is working?

Connecting One Wireless Router To Another
I got two linksys routers- 802. 11 b and g respectively. The g version is what i am currently using to broadcast my wireless. The problem is that the signal is weak upstairs in my room. Can i somehow connect the 802. 11b to the one i am running right now? I mean like through the ethernet cable? I would like to make my connection stronger upstairs. I do have a cable that is long enough. The question is can this be done?

Is My Wireless Router Broken?
I have a netgear wireless router and its original black box power adaptor died many months ago. I bought a generic adaptor of the same voltage/ settings etc, since i read on the internet that it was okay to do that. Everything was going well until last week when it started to emit a constant, high pitched squeal. The squeal would only happen if you plug the router back on. The netgear router itself is a few years old (wgr614 v6). So the problem is, today i turned on my laptop and there was no wireless being picked up. I tried the usual resetting the modem, unplug/plugging it back in, waiting 20 mins etc etc. However everytime i plug it back in, the router would keep resetting itself and the wireless light or indicator never turns on or even blinks. So now i've connected my laptop to the modem itself just to get internet. Pushing the reset button is no good. Is my router gone for good?
If it is, what brand of router should i buy next?
I have wpa encryption for all my wireless at home, do i have to reset all of these when i get a new router?

What Kind Of Wireless Router Should I Get?
I'm planning on getting a wireless router to support my computer, xbox 360 and possibly a couple other gadgets here and there. I'm not sure what kind to buy and what all the lingo that goes along with them means. Here are some things in a router i'm looking for. Hopefully someone can match me up with one that meets my needs. I need something that is xbox compliant (i know from research that there's a list). It needs to be able to support gaming and not lag. I would like the ability to roam around my house and yard without worry of disconnecting. I'd prefer something that doesn't require a degree in computers to set up. Are there any other things i should be thinking about when purchasing a router?
I have a $100 gift card to best buy and my plan was to buy a router with it. I think i need a wireless adapter for the xbox 360? So i'd like to keep the price of both within the $100.

Configuring Wireless Router
Ok, say here it goes. I have a linksys wireless router model number wrt54g2. I used this router and have it all set up, and i use it to play my xbox 360 wired. But how do i make it so i can use it wirelessly? ( I have windows vista) i went to start, control panel, network and sharing center, set up a connection or network, set up a router or wireless access point, and typed in everything just fine. But i tried using a psp to connect to the internet to test if it would work, and when i scanned to see if the psp could detect if the router should, it did with the exact ssid i gave the router. But i went to log in to linkys and checked to see if everything was fine, and my problem is that im using security setting wpa psk (tkip) like it says on the site, but i could not find the wpa key. If i found the wpa key, would my router finally be able to use my router wirelessly, or did i do something wrong and need to start over again?

Best Wireless N Broadband Router On Market
What is the best wireless n broadband router on the market now for around $60? I'm currently using a linksys wireless b broadband router for my home network which includes 2 desktop pc's and a laptop. Every now and then, we experience connection issues where i would have to disconnect the host computer from the router and connect it directly into the modem. After re-establishing an internet connection, i then reconnect the router. All three computers online again. Problem solved, at least for a while until it happens again (once a week on average). Any ideas and or suggestions on a good brand named wireless n broadband router for around $60? Don't know if this makes any difference but between the 3 computers, i'm running (os) xp, vista & w7. I want to increase connection reliability & speed.
