Norton Or Kaspersky Antivirus, Which Is Better ?

I have heard norton slows down your pc, is it true? I want anti-virus which will detect all kind of spy-wares and sometimes i feel that i have been key-logged, i feel that everything i type gets recorded in someone else's pc which anti virus & which version of the anti virus will take care of this problem. I have avg free edition right now but i am not satisfied with it.

Cannot Connect To Internet After Uninstall Kaspersky
In the beginning i had avg free then uninstalled it to install kaspersky internet security 2011 trial but i didn't like it so i uninstalled it to reinstall avg free but sadly after i uninstalled it something went wrong with my laptop. Now i can't connect to the internet using wireless or ethernet cable while all the other pcs on the network have internet connection. My dad's laptop works fine using wireless connection. When i open network and sharing center, all i find is it is stuck on identifying. It says identifying unter the icon in the middle but never finishes.

My problem is that i am trying to back up my sisteres hdd onto a hdd i use for backups. But i get stuck on the lan card config option. Does anyone know how to complete this step or where to get the necessary drivers from. The network card is an integrated nvidia network controller on a nforce 2 asus a7n8x deluxe v2.

I used to have norton utilities installed on my xp box, but have since gone to win7 and no longer touching norton products with a 20m pole. I did, however, really enjoy norton win doctor and their disk checker. What is comparable (free or for charge) software for win7 - that has a thorough disk/error checker, and defrag (or is win7 defrag good enough). What about a norton win-doctor-like utility? Or is that probably not needed anymore.

Copying New Hard Drive Problem With Norton Ghost
I just purchased a hitachi 60 gb hard drive and an external usb hard drive enclosure. I formatted the hard drive and then used norton ghost 2005 to copy the old hard drive i had to the new hard drive. After a successful copy i installed the new hard drive. It booted fine into windows xp and then i came up to the log on screen. I typed my user-name and password then i pressed enter then it logged me out immediately and brought me to the log on screen again. Dell Laptop With A Free Lifetime Norton Subscription Worth Keeping ?
I never planned to have norton running on any of my computers because of its space hogging features. But three years ago, i bought a refurbished laptop from a computer technician who has access to lots of software freebies including a free lifetime subscription to norton, which he installed on my refurbished dell when i bought it. It's the third year i'm using it, and i've never been asked to renew my subscription, so it looks like it's a real deal. Question is, it is still norton, and still a large program. There is an angry looking "wireshark antivirus" security system series of pop ups that has chosen to commandeer my pc. It's obviously a phishing / malware / antivirus thingy. It won't let me run any programs. When i right click on it there are no menus to show me the properties or source. There are three tiny little shield shaped icons on the menu in the lower right corner of my screen. I don't know any legit programs that get three identical icons on the same menu. It says all my files have been infected and it wants me to 'purchase a full version' before it will clear everything away.google says that wireshark is a protocol analyzer. So the creator was crafty enough to use a legit company as their cover. Wireshark does not make anti virus software though. I can still open the task manager and the control panel. I can't find it to uninstall it. I tried to use the task manager to shut it off, but the pop ups just pop back up. I'm running windows vista home premium 32-bit operating system on an emachines if that helps. Any ideas what i can do to rip this thing out by its trachea?

Eset Nod32 Antivirus Problem
I installed eset nod32 antivirus and it totally screwed up internet connection on my desktop pc. How do i fix? I installed the program and it totally screwed up my internet connection. I have no connection to the internet whatsoever. I tried using system restore to restore to a time before installing nod32, but no luck. I'm using google chrome on my desktop pc and i get an error saying "error 105(net:: err_name_not_resolved): server could not be found. "

I have a 15-inch, 2. 66ghz macbook pro running on intel core i7, with a 4gm memory, 500gb hard drive. The laptop runs great (contrary to my past macs), but i am going off to college, and in order to access the school's wifi network you need to install mcafee antivirus software, which they provide you with. I am *** off about this, because i know that antivirus software slows your computer down, and that macs are already for the most part protected from many of the viruses the software scans for. I am just wondering how much the mcafee antivirus software will slow my computer down.
My past two macs never lasted more than 3 years each, so the last thing i want is for a $2, 200 computer to only last 3 or 4 years before it becomes to slow. Also, once i finish college, or perhaps transfer (if i find myself in that situation), can i de-install the software, and if i do this will my computer go back to running as efficiently in speed as it did before? The microsoft firewall that comes free with xp and vista is quite good but unfortunately provides no visibility. If you need visibility, try the free zone alarm. Zone alarm is very good but it is difficult for me to say it is the best. The best firewalls are not free. You have phishing filters in firefox 3 and ie 7 and ie 8 (smart screen filter) and avg. It's strictly a question of how often the phishing filter database gets updated with accurate information. It's tough to say which is best.

The best anti-virus is kaspersky or norton but they are not free. Kaspersky does offer a free online scan but it doesn't remove what it finds. Second best free are avast and avg and others. Mcafee Antivirus Issue With Macbook Pro I7
Main question: do you know how much mcafee antivirus will slow down my computer? Will it slow my computer down a considerable amount, or will it be for the most part unnoticeable? I have a 15-inch, 2. 66ghz macbook pro running on intel core i7, with a 4gm memory, 500gb hard drive. The laptop runs great (contrary to my past macs), but i am going off to college, and in order to access the school's wifi network you need to install mcafee antivirus software, which they provide you with. I am *** off about this, because i know that antivirus software slows your computer down, and that macs are already for the most part protected from many of the viruses the software scans for. I am just wondering how much the mcafee antivirus software will slow my computer down. My past two macs never lasted more than 3 years each, so the last thing i want is for a $2, 200 computer to only last 3 or 4 years before it becomes to slow. Also, once i finish college, or perhaps transfer (if i find myself in that situation), can i reinstall the software, and if i do this will my computer go back to running as efficiently in speed as it did before? How much overall will the antivirus software effect my computer's performance?

Network Connection Symbol Has Gone After Downloading Avast Antivirus
Downloaded avast antivirus and the network connection symbol at bottom right of screen has gone!? I downloaded avast (free) antivirus program and now the network connection symbol / icon that shows the internet connection (local / local & internet) at the bottom right of the screen has gone. Does anyone know why this has happened and how i can get it back? The functionality you are talking about is available in some anti-virus suites. (I think) if your anti-virus suite doesn't has that functionality then search for any other small application which can help you in this matter.

Removing Windows Antivirus Pro Solution From Sony Vaio Laptop
How do i remove windows anti virus pro solution from my sony vaio laptop? Ok, so i was out of town this weekend and my mom told me when i got home that she scanned and cleaned the computer, and i asked what happened for her to have it scanned this is what she said (paraphrasing)
"That i was trying to send an email to my instructor and a pop up said that the computer was under attack and i clicked the link and paid 50 bucks for it" and i said "are you sure it isn't a scam, that has happened to me before but i knew it was just a trick why didn't you call if it when this occurred" and she said that she got scared. So this morning i looked up to find that it actually was a scam and now we are stuck with this crap on our computer, she knows not to do anything security wise on the computer, i have never heard of this program and i want it off now! Can someone please help me find a way to get it off of my computer, and where are places where i can take my laptop to get cleaned of the viruses.
