This Device Cannot Start (code 10)

My samsung cdrw is generating the error: "this device cannot start. (Code 10)". I went to device manager to see why the drive is not listed on burning apps recorder lists. Device status box in properties is where i found the error. Is the drive done? Or is this some kind of setting adjustment i need to make.

Device Will Not Start (code 10)

Ok, concerning all that i found elsewhere in reference to external hard drives and the "device will not start (code 10)" message, i am going to take a leap here and assume that it may have crossed paths on this forum also. Believe me when i say that i tried every piece of advice i came across and none of it has worked. Yes, i changed usb slots, i removed the drivers from the registry physically and rebooting my win xp made no difference whatsoever. Does anyone have the solution to this problem?

I'm tempted to switch from usb to firewire but not so sure it wouldn't end up in the same spot and still leave my 200gb of info totally out of reach. I'm looking for a solution that leaves my external hd intact and functional unless there simply is no cure for this problem. I am looking for expert advice from the experts for i am not one.

Error: This Device Could Not Start ( Code 10 )

I have 895mb of ram on my system now, but i started with 1gb? Anyways, i kept getting blue screens and they told me to use a new video adapter. I got a new video card and it reccomends 1gb of ram. It has a vga adapter that you have to connect your monitor to for it to work. I went into device manager and it said "this device could not start (code 10). " Then after some lagg, the computer froze. Is this a ram problem? And if it is, can i just buy one stick of 2gb ram instead of adding 1gb to the current 895mb? I have windows vista home basic 32-bit. Int pent 4 proc. 3. 0ghz. I went into system setup when it booted, and changed the primary video card to pci-e, which is what the new video card runs on. The video card is the radeon hd 3650 1gb ddr2. This is like my 3rd topic, i know. Bare with me, i keep running into like 2 different problems every day.

Sata Drives - Device Cannot Start - Code 10

I have just reinstalled windows xp pro after being totally frustrated with vista ultimate 64. Install went fine with one exception. None of my sata drive are working, except drive c: which is where the os is installed. I have 6 external usb drives and 1 firewire and 1 esata drive, with 4 internal sata drives. The internal and the esata drives show as generic drives in device manager and give device cannot start code 10 in properties. I have service pack 3 installed and these are all used drives which functioned properly last time i had xp installed. I have installed the chipset. Inf for my intel board, tried using tweakui to select and deselect the drives. No luck. Getting to beating my head on the wall now syndrome . Anyone help with this dilema please. Drives are not raid configured and set to emulate ide in the bios. The highlighted drives are the sata ones that wont start. The maxtor is a sata drive too . And it works. Its the primary system drive.

Hardware Stop Code In Xp Install, But Not Vista?

I'm putting a new computer together and i'm having a problem. I'm dual-booting with xp pro and vista ultimate (both are legit, fwiw ). When i install in xp, i always get a stop code error (can't remember the exact one right now. I know i got a 0x0000007a and 7b at one point). I have two sticks of 1 gb in this comp, so i took one out and tried. Still got the error. Took that one out, put the other one in. Still got the error. Not the memory. Then i decided to try vista first instead of xp, and it installed without a hitch!

So what i'm thinking at this point is that it could be the sata raid drivers i was using. So i've downloaded the latest from intel, and still am getting a stop code. Does anyone have any ideas? I've got to have xp because i use this computer for recording, mixing, mastering, etc. , And my programs aren't vista compatible yet.

Hardware Problems - Bsod Code 124

Alright, this windows 7 build of mine is starting to get on my nerves. I only seem to get about a week's worth of it running perfectly and then something happens. First it was the motherboard going bad, causing hdd read issues. It finally went completely and refused to recognize any hard drives. I got that rma'd and reinstalled everything and it ran better than it ever had before. Then my computer started chunking really hard while playing crysis and i quick left to check my temps. While the temps were well within acceptable limits (except maybe the north bridge which was loading at 67c and idling at about 50c), my system was telling me that although i had 6 gigs of ram installed, only 2 were usable. After swapping my dimms around, i found one that wouldn't read at all when in a 2 slot arrangment instead of a 3, and i'm now running with 4 usable gb's. Oddly enough, as soon as i did this the idle temp of my north bridge dropped down to 32c. And now, a few days later i get a random bsod while surfing the net. Bsod code 124 which after googling a bit i find is related to voltage and the cpu. However, i'm running my system at stock. I did bump the ram from 1066 to 1333 (1600 refused to work) but that's it. The voltage listed in bios is the same voltage the ram specs listed, and they're rated for 1600. What is going on here? I was about to order new ram, but if there is more going on here than just a bad dimm or two, i think i'd better wait in case i have to get even more parts for this machine. This is starting to drive me nuts. One thing after another. Oddly enough, that's been the case with every system i've built for the past 6 years. One piece at a time would randomly fail. Any help at all would be greatly appreciated.system specs are in the signature. Edit: forgot to mention the first odd thing this build did. With both the original motherboard and the replacement motherboard, the first boot after system changes always "stutters". By that i mean it starts to power up for a second, and then shuts itself down. Then about 3 - 5 seconds later it powers itself back up again and continues on to post. It boots normally from that point on, unless i change hardware, or i change something in the bios, at which point it "stutter" boots again.

Can't Find Boot Device - Mbr Is Bad On C

I just added a new slave drive to my old computer yesterday. The drive has xp on it, i just haven't formatted it yet. After i plugged in in using cs i rebooted and for some reason my computer booted from that drive, which is now called e:. My master drive is still there and looks to be fine. I went into bios and changed my boot options and hdd options so that it would boot my c: drive first. Now when it goes to boot the c: drive it gives me an error saying that their is nothing to boot. If i have my cd drive plugged in it tries to boot that but says nothing is there. So anyway, for some reason i think my mbr is bad on my c:. I really don't want to format or anything. What would be the best way to fix this issue? I have the ultimate boot cd, should i just pop in xp and fix the mbr? Last time i had this issue i think i ended up reinstalling xp which was a pain.

Vista Can't Find Its Hardware Drivers, Most Usb Devices Won't Install

Last night everything was ok. After i'd cleaned the computer and plugged everything back in windows decides it can't find drivers for any of my usb devices (keyboard, mouse, camera, gamepad, joystick). When it finds them it says new hardware found. With 3 choices:

Locate and install driver
Ask me again later
Don't show this message again

So i click the first option, and it searches for drivers but. 'could not find driver software'. I then click 'check online for a solution' with no luck. These devices are so basic that the manufacturers don't supply drivers for the products; they should all be with the os. What can i do guys? I'm a keen photographer and not being able to upload my photos via the camera or card reader is a real issue for me. By the way the above process happens for all the usb hardware i have except the printer, usb flash drive, mouse and keyboard (luckily!)

Beep Code

Whenever i turn on my computer, it makes this long beep noise and i am guessing somethings wrong with it. The thing is, everything seems to work fine. >_>;; i tried to "decode" the beep code, but i must be quite stupid, because i can't seem to match with the right one. My motherboard is: ga-965p-ds3. The beep codes listed on its manual are:
-
1 short: system boots successfully
2 short: cmos setting error
1 long 1 short: dram or m/b error
1 long 2 short: monitor or display card error
1 long 3 short: keyboard error
1 long 9 short: bios rom error
Continuous long beeps: dram error
Continuous short beeps: power error
-

I have recorded the beep noise with my mp3 player and the sound has been slightly distorted(?), But it didn't change much from the actual sound.

Keyboard Error: ( Code 41 )

Yesterday someone came out and connected my computer to my home network. After they left and i got back to my computer, i found that my keyboard didnít work. I found that in the device manage my keyboard's icon had an exclamation point next to it, and when i clicked on it it said:"windows successfully loaded the device driver for this hardware but cannot find the hardware device. (Code 41)". I assumed there was something wrong with my ps2 port, so i went out and bought a usb keyboard. No luck. So far i have tried: removing the driver and reinstalling it, removing the driver, unplugging the keyboard, plugging it in and installing the driver, removing the driver in safe mode (which i can access by the way; the keyboard stops working when the computer starts up. ), Trying different keyboards, and even removing sp2 (that solved someone on a different forum's problems), and nothings worked so far. I've also tried system restore, but i donít know for sure if it restored my computer to a time earlier than when it was messed with. The person who connected me to the network is on vacation now, so i cant really contact them. I've scoured the internet (using the onscreen keyboard), and can't find anything helpful, also i forgot to mention that the buttons on the top of the keyboard work. (Buttons specific to the keyboard like media, favorites, volume etc).

No Post, No Beep Code, Nothing

A week ago, i had a fully running system that had worked fine for the past 2 years. What ended up happening is my video card began to fail, artifacting all over the place and eventually locking up. I sent it in to get it rma'ed and its in the mail. I got bored yesterday and decided to upgrade my video gard since radeon 4870's were on sale for 170 at my local shop. The card worked great, i played some tf2, messed with the clocks a little bit, watched my little bro play some wow etc. It worked fantastic, and was only 170. Good deal it seems. I made sure that the power requirements would not be too much. The card only uses 180 or so if i remember correctly, so it should be fine with a 500w unless my math is beyond retarded. Anyways, this morning i turn my box on and get no bios post message, no beep code, nothing. It powers up fine, but absolutely nothing happens other than fan activity and power lights. I can feel the harddrive spinning up, and the cdrom drive also works. This is what i have done so far:

-Checked all connectors, reconnected the video card power supply cables (what are those called anyways?). -Checked that my monitors were working (both dvi and vga monitors). -Pulled out all sticks of ram but one w/ video card in. Nothing. -Pulled out all ram and video card, turned it on, nothing. -Pulled out the video card, turned it on. Nothing. -Reset the bios by taking out the battery and using the reset jumper as instructed by my mobo's manual, put it all back. Nothing. -All of the capacitors on the motherboard look intact. -As far as i know nothing got hot last night, i was watching the temps to see how hot the new card runs. When i power it on everything comes alive, but i noticed that the harddrive activity light has nothing on it. Not sure if that means anything. I don't have another video card or desktop handy to swap cards/boxes to verify the video card is working/eliminate it as the problem, but i plan to do that later on today and will update this post, i just had a minute to post so i was hoping i could get some tips.system:-

Asus p5l-vm 1394 mobo
Asus 8800gts 320mb (now its a sapphire radeon 4870 1gb)
4gb of kingston ddr2 ram
500w psu
Intel core 2 duo e6600
320gb seagate hard drive.

Nvidia Geforce - Code 12

I have a year old polywell with 2 gb of ram, amd 4800 and a nvidia geforce 7800 gt card and a samsung 970p monitor. Recently my screen has slowed down and when i scroll up and down instead of scrolling smoothly it scrolls one section of a time and has become very choppy. I went to my device manager and under display adaptor the nvidia geforce 7800 gt card has a exclamation point. When i went into the nvidia geforce 7800 gt card properties i get the following message for the device status:

"This device cannot find enough free resources that it can use. (Code 12)

If you want to use this device, you will need to disable one of the other devices on this system. Click troubleshoot to start the troubleshooter for this device. "

Is my graphics card dying?

When i go inside my computer and to make sure the graphic card is securely attached and put everything together, the graphic card works again and everything is fine. The next time i boot up the computer, the graphic card does not work and i get the same code 12 problem. Any advice on how to fix this.

How To Find Router Password?

Answer:- assuming you mean the network encryption key needed to use the network rather than the password needed to log into the router's administration pages, if it isn't on a label on your modem or router, the likeliest place to find it is in those admin pages. Exactly where in those pages varies from brand to brand. If you don't have a router, the following should apply to your modem itself. Basically, to get into the admin pages, do this:

1. On a computer connected to a wired port on your router (wireless access to the admin pages should be turned off as a security risk), enter the router's local ip address in your browser's address window. 2. Poke around, especially under wireless security, until you find the encryption key.copy it down exactly.copy-and-pasting it into a text file (wordpad is generally best because it's on almost all windows machines) is even better, as it can be copy-and-pasted from there into whatever needs it. When you see it, you'll understand why this is a good idea. To find your routers ip address in windows:

4. Click on the start->run button. 5. In the text box, type

Cmd

And press enter. 6. A black "dos box" will pop up. In it, enter

Ipconfig /all

A bunch of gibberish will fill the box. Next to "default gateway" an ip address will appear. This is your router's ip address.

Where To Find Server Technicians?

I am a recruiter at a staffing agency - and i'm pretty new. Knowing that yahoo! Answers is a pretty valuable resource, i was hoping someone here could help me out in searching to fill a server technician position. I'm looking for people with a+, server+, oem certifications, and blade experience. I've posted a few ads and i've run database searches for resumes but have found few people with the experience i need (the certifications above plus 7 years minimum experience). We need them to work on servers such as dell poweredge rack mount servers and hp proliant rack mount and blade servers. I am particularly looking for people in the delaware area - so if anyone knows of any place these guys meet up online (such as organizations) in that area, it would be very helpful!

Or is there any good resource out there, where a lot of these people could see my ads?

I'm doing my research on this job, but i thought one of you might be able to help me too!

Bsod - Cannot Catch The 0x00 Code

For some reason my friend's laptop gets the blue screen of death. He took it to best buy and all they could tell him is that it was not the hard drive because they replaced that. It wont boot to windows, and it doesnt pause long enough on the blue screen for me to catch the 0x00 code. I am experienced in computers, but i have always worked on desktops, not laptops. Is there any way i can test his hardware without a hardware tester and spare hardware? Im thinking it is the onboard video or the whole motherboard itself. Best buy also said that it"may" be that the motherboard is bad. Any suggestions?

Error Installing Nic - Code 35

My friend has a asus m3a79-t deluxe, he's trying to install a wireless card. The drivers install fine and everything is hunky dory except for this error:

Your computer's system firmware does not include enough information to properly configure and use this device. To use this device, contact your computer manufacturer to obtain a firmware or bios update. (Code 35)

His bios is fully up to date. It just doesn't make any sense to me. The only possible solutions are "update the bios" which he has done. So what the *** is going on? Thanks in advance

Oh. He has vista ultimate 64 bit, 8gb of ram, phenom ii 940 (i think), nothing's overclocked.

Beep Code - 1 Long, 2 Short

This morning my pc told me my network cable was unplugged after being on the net for 30 min. I rebooted the computer and was confronted with the beep code: 1 long, 2 short. No video though case and cpu heat-sink fans are running. I researched these codes and found : video ram error or memory error (depending on where i went). This is what i've tried:

(1) reseated video card and memory
(2) swapped video card to diff pci-e slot
(3) swapped video card for known working backup
(4) swapped memory for spare set of 2x512mb pc 3200
(5) gave mobo a once over to check for blown caps >>>none found

Things i'm contemplating doing:

(1) changing power supply (too much hassle now since i'm going to work in 20 mins). (2) try other 2 memory slots (didn't do it yet since manual said to use a1 and b1 slots for my configuration). This incident will make me get off my ass and finally upgrade to my i7 system in waiting, but i hate to build under these conditions. Any and all input and suggestions are appreciated. This is my system:

Asus a8n 32sli deluxe
Opteron 170 (stock)
Evga 8800gts video card
2x1gb ocz ddr pc3200 (set to correct voltages and timings)
Enermax noisetaker eg701 power supply
Samsung and seagate sata drives (2 of each)
Benq 1620 dvd burner
