Computer Wont Detect Scanner On Hp Photosmart Essentials 3.0
Replies: 1 | Post Date: 1 year ago | User: Weickspa | Forums: answers.yahoo.comWhen i go to import photo in hp photosmart it only comes up with two icons. A cd which is drive e and then a folder. It doesn't ever have the scanner show up. I tried updating the drivers and reinstalling them onto the scanner but it didn't make a difference. So how do i get the scanner to scan? And when i try to push the scan button on the scanner it just sits there and does nothing, and i know it works cuz i did it this same way on hp photosmart on my old computer and it worked perfectly fine. Whats wrong with it?

How do you scan with hp photosmart essentials 3. 0? I cannot find how to scan with hp photosmart essentials 3. 0. I don't see the point in having this bloated non-essential software for organizing photos. I already use picassa 3 photo viewer which is fine. The only way i can get to the scan feature for the hp scanjet g3110 that i own is through 3rd party software programs that i have photoshop and infraview. Anyone know how to uninstall hp photosmart essentials and just leave the scanning program (that i don't know how to get to)?

Computer Can't Detect Hdd
I have a very weird problem, once i boot my computer the memory shows and all is ok, then it gets to the drive detection (hdds, cds etc. ) It writes the line "detecting ide drives. " And just gets stuck, i tried:
- Only plugging my dvd writer without my hdd - the computer detects it, all is ok and it keeps on booting. - Plugging nothing at all - the computer just writes:
Master - none
Sec. Master - none
Slave - none
Sec. Slave - none
And keeps on booting. - Changed the ide cable - didn't help. - Changed the ide port from the motherboard - didn't help. - Put a different hdd - didn't help. - Reset the bios, meaning, cleared the cmos by removing the battery, switching the jumper back and forth - didn't help. - The jumpers are ok (hdd is on 'master or single' and dvd is on 'slave')
I don't know what to do, maybe it has something to do with the bios? I don't know much about the bios. Does anyone have any tips? I really don't know what to do anymore.

Answer:- you are not stating if it works or not. To install, do these steps. Unplug the usb cable from the scanner, power it on, and install your software and let the program tell you when to reconnect the cable. When it ask, re-connect the cable to the scanner and let it complete the installation. Reboot. Windows will find it. Now, go in your start menu and open the program that the scanner installed so you can start scanning. Go in the file menu and select scan but first, . Open the cover and put a page face down to the glass, close the cover, now select scan. The software will start the scan. If you want higher resolution, i suggest to select 200 or 300 dpi for a good scan. For documents, just use 150dpi which is more than adequate.

Computer Cannot Detect Usb 2.0 External Hdd
My computer cannot detect my usb 2. 0 external hdd, it was working only a few minutes ago, then i removed it through "safely remove hardware" after that i realized i forgot something so i plugged it back on. The light of my external hdd is on, but my computer isn't responding, it isn't showing any signs of another hdd in "my computer" and also in the "safely remove hardware" thing. I tried in my other computer and it's the same. I've scanned through for viruses previously, and cleared 3 trojans. Shouldn't be of a problem tho. Is my newly bought external hdd faulty ? Or has my computer gone mad?
P/s i also got this common problem that my external hdd couldn't be read directly, i have to - rightclick - explore. I believe this is a common n00b mistake i have done to my hdd or something.

The printer is a hand-me-down from my parents, so it's not like i can bring it back to the store and exchange it for something else, or have a warranty on it. Any tips on what to do? I'm at a complete lost what to try next. I'm out of ideas and i really need my scanner to work for an art project i'm doing.

I always get a "cannot detect keyboard, press f1 to continue" error msg during startups unless i disconnect my usb mouse; but i'm free to connect my mouse again when i boot into windows. This first started when i replaced the old pci graphics card i had with an agp graphics card while the old card is still in the system; so i thought it might have been an irq conflict issue (i had alot of ide devices connected to the computer). I have since tried removing either the pci card or the agp card and other extra ide devices, but the problem still persists. I've also tried switching the cmos battery from another computer, didn't help either.

I recently tried to install a pci video card on a friends computer but when i re-booted the computer it was not detected. I dont have detailed specs on the computer but here are a few things:

You can get freeocr if you need to open scanned jpeg images and convert them to text. When i try to scan, the scanning icon pops up but then the screen freezes, and a message pops up saying "the function cannot be performed because another program already has control of the device. " This is not true however, as i don't have anything plugged in. At all. Also, this has never happened before. I can't get my 3310 to scan. I finally, after a couple of years of fighting it and trying different things, got it to print from my laptop over a network. I think the usb burned out on it after a few months but i guess it is to be expected with hp's horrible products. Anyway, when i push the "scan" button, it brings me to a "scan menu" with:
1. Select computer
2. Hp instant share
3. Memory device
I can't select any of these and the default is set on the first one. So, when i push the "ok" button, it brings me to a "no scan options" window and says "refer to device documentation to troubleshoot. Press ok to continue. " If i press ok, it brings me back to the "scan menu". If i just push the "start" button in either "black" or "color", it just beeps at me. I am using windows xp sp3 on my laptop. I can print just fine. I have tried hp's tech support for a chat and i get an error message for a non-existent page for this product.cool! I also lost the cd with the drivers and the support center on it so i can't use that. What is there i can do? Any drivers i can install? I don't have this "hpqtra08" as one of my running processes or even in the process menu and hp says i need this one running. Where can i get this from other than the stupid cd? Make sure it is well installed before going any further. The correct way is to remove the usb cable from the hp and power on the unit. Now, you install the software and you will re-connect the usb back only when the program tells you. Assuming you have done all this. Go in the start menu and go in the hp folder and select "hp solution center". Click on scan pictures and that's it. The light from the scanner will come on. Make sure you put your document face down on the glass first. It will show you a preview of what it is scanning. First, make sure you select 300 dpi in the settings to get a good scan or 600 dpi.

Ok, so i was installing a new dvd-rw drive i got and it was going good, windows xp recognized it, i was burning stuff. Then nero gives the error "connection interrupted". The drive was stuck and nero froze. So i open my case, make sure all connections are good and reboot. Only this time right after it checks the cd drives to see if it should boot from them, it suddenly starts showing weird symbols scrolling down the screen (like a matrix effect) i have disconnected everything, reconnected, reset cmos, but it still wont detect the hard drives!

I've gotten them to work before in raid, recently i formatted my drives and i had set the bios to 'defaults'. Well, the drives are formatted. I can go to bios and my hds appear, i go to enable raid and save the settings only to return to bios and see they're gone. And when i hit f10 to go into the raid setup, it shows both of them but they are in red highlight. Ive been messing around in the settings see if i turned anything on last time but have had no luck. I've got a feeling its something simple i'm just not seeing. Edit: 680sli mobo|2x wd250 hd|geforce 8800gtx|2 gb corsair|core2 duo e6600

I don't use lexmark printer. I use hp psc 1410 all-in-one printer. There should be a software to go with the scanner like the hp printer. Maybe you have already installed the program without knowing what the program is for. Try searching for it on your computer. My hp scanner software goes by the name of hp document viewer. You need the software when using the scanner to save the document image onto your computer. If you cannot find it, try to find the software and driver cd that came with the printer. If not, go to the lexmark website and search for the software/ driver and download it.

Scan With Scanner Connected To Mac Os X With Windows Computer
Is it possible to scan with a scanner/printer connected to a mac os x with windows computers? I have the hp officejet 6500 scanner/printer. This printer/scanner is connected to my imac. I am able to scan and print with this imac. And i am able to print only over my network. I am able to print with any windows computer in my house using bonjour. When i open bonjour on the windows computers, it sees the printer connected to the imac. And when i print with the windows computers, it sends the document or whatever were printing to the imac connected to the printer/scanner. But the only thing is, i want to scan the same way. If i go to system preferences on the imac and go to print & fax and then i click my scanner/printer and the box is checked that says "share printer over network" and then when i click scan at the top, i see a button that says, open scanner, and another box that is checked that says, "share scanner over network. " Is it possible to share my scanner the same way as i share my printer?
I also have this apple product called time capsule. And i haven't used the print over network feature with that. Can i scan over the network using the tc?
