Replies: 19 | Post Date: 05-10-2009, 04:27 PM | User: Lrdtalon | Forums: hardforum.comI am trying to install vista ultimate 64 on a brand new system.
4gb ram (2x2)
Nvidia 9800 gtx+

Everything boots and posts fine, but but i insert the vista install dvd it boots to it no problem. The vista install goes through the loading windows files progress bar, and when it get to the very end where the installer would normally start, i get a bsod with a stop error of 0x0000000a. I tried removing one of the 2gb sticks and i then got a bsod with stop error 0x0000001e. Does anyone have any advice or places that i can look for some answers?

Vista Blue Screen Error
Ok well, i don't know much about computers, let alone all these errors and stuff. Recently, i've had some registry error problems and have downloaded several programs to help. I bought registry convoy which stopped giving me error pop ups. I have been using registry convoy regularly because some errors keep coming back. Four days ago, i downloaded a new game which required me to download the program steam. Everything was going fine until 2 days ago. My computer randomly shutdown. It continually started to shutdown/restart when i used steam. After leaving my computer alone for the night, everything was fine the next day. My computer was on all day and nothing happened. I figured it was overheating or something. At the end of the day though, it started again. I searched a bit and found out you could stop your computer restarting when an error or something occurred. I did that, and thats when i started to get the blue screen error. I'll note down the details. Driver_irql_not_less_or_equal
A problem has been detected and windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer. Technical information:
*** Stop: 0x000000d1 (0xcf30023, 0x000000ff, 0x00000008, 0xcff30023)
It has other stuff which are just guidelines i guess, giving you a couple things to try etc. I'll also give additional details about my laptop. Asus pro50sr core 2 duo, t5900 2. 2 ghz 320gb 4gb ati <- know idea what any of that means. I can add details if needed, i just really wanna fix this :(. I'm capped at the moment which makes searching for this stuff a little harder. Also, would it help if i maybe uninstalled steam?

Blue Screen Of Death With Vista
System info:
Acer aspire ax3810
Windows vista home prem. 64-bit
Cpu - q8300 intel core 2 quad
Mem - 8gb ddr3
750gb hard drive
I also have an ati 4650 1024mb graphics card. I unhooked my computer, which was running as beautifully as ever, and packed it away in it's original packaging so that our cats wouldn't mess it up when my wife and i were in egypt for fifteen days. I put the boxes in a cool, dry closet. We got back last night and i unpacked the pc before my suitcase. It was a bit slower than before but i figured it was just getting into the flow of being used again. My wife was away, so i got mass effect 2 up and running, which had been running perfectly before i left, and started to play.
Two minutes into the game, my system crashes and i get a "blue screen of death" message. I thought i noticed the memory dump reading "complete, " but as i was turning off the computer, i noticed it said "physical memory dump '40'". The computer shuts down. I turn it on again - "no signal" on the monitor. There was also a noticeable delay from the time i hit the power button to the time the computer started up. I turned the computer off again, but then the keyboard light and the mouse light remained on, unusual because they usually turn off with the computer.
I disconnected the monitor cables and the power cables, reattached them tightly, turned the computer on again, and it runs normally for 45 minutes. I'm looking through photos from egypt and the blue screen appears again. I wait until the physical memory dump is complete before turning off the computer. Since then, i have not been able to get past "no signal. " Not experiencing the 3-5 second delays with the power anymore, and the keyboard turns off with the pc, but the monitor is not picking up any signal.
Would love some help. Have had the pc for less than a year, and would prefer not having to ship it off to a tech shop for a week or something. I've since opened up the computer, cleaned the dust out and off of the graphics card, reassembled it, and it started working again. I started the computer in safe mode, and then it shut down after two minutes or so with the blue screen message without giving me a chance to run any diagnostics. What should i do now?

I have downloaded the drivers from intel and when i install windows 2003 the installation finishes and it still blue screens. The server has 4 controller cards and i have removed the cards and it still does the samething. I have removed the memory and placed a new memory and still does the same thing. I have removed another scsi card from another server and it still blue screens. Something is causing windows to blue screen. Please help if anyone has seen this issue.

Crashes And Blue Screen Since Gtx 260 Install
This has been happening a lot. Especially in crysis, but not exclusively just with that game. The bios has not been flashed since i first built this rig so i think it might need an update. Is it likely it might help with the problems i've been having? A 600w psu should be more than enough. I've checked the temps i'm getting with the card and they're more than within the 'acceptable' range. I've also updated the drivers.

Flashing Bios To Install Windows 7 Caused Blue Screen Error
I was having problems installing windows 7(currently running xp). My friend suggested flashing my bios. I did has he said. Now i'm getting blue screens. He said it could be the ram voltage so i played around with it. No luck. To make sure it was the ram causing the issue, i did an orthos stress test. 4 seconds after starting it. Error. I left my comp off overnight and it worked for about half an hour this morning without a blue screen. Anyone know what i should do to fix this? My system specs should be up to date on my profile if you need any of those.

Screen Shaking In Window Mode
Brand new xfx 5770 running at stock settings runs fine in games, but when a game is in windowed mode it will shake the top of the screen unless i minimize everything but one window. If i play any game - such as warcraft 3, shattered horizon, tf2 - in windowed mode with a browser in the background or something then the screen will start shaking randomly. If anyone has a solution, let me know before i call up xfx.

Fit A Window Game To Take The Whole Screen
I wanted to ask, since counter-strike 1. 6 disables other monitors in a multi monitor environment, i wanted to know if there is a program, that i can make a game "maximize" on the main screen, so it wont be in full-screen mode, and in windowed mode it'll be taking over the entire screen.

Pc Goes To Xp Load Screen Then Into Blue Screen
I have a laptop that when it boots it goes to the xp load screen for about 2 seconds and then a blue screen of love. I ran a linux boot disk to try to trouble shoot it but we couldn't get it to see the drive. I bought a sata 2. 5 drive enclosure and hooked it up to my other computer with the laptop drive in it and it can't see it. The drive gets warm but thats all. I pulled my other laptop drive out and put it into the drive enclosure and it worked fine. What can i do? What options do i have to see if this is still a good drive? Does this mean the drive is dead? Do i need to load drivers? Can i force mount it? Any thoughts?

Video Lag After Vista Install
I recently did a clean install of vista64 home premium. I spent some time installing all of my drivers, and making sure all of the windows updates were installed. Everything seems to be running fine, including photoshop, which is the primary use of the computer. However since i loaded vista, all of my video lags very badly. The sound seems to work fine, but the video frame rate is down to nothing. I cannot play any games on it right now.cod4 will load, and i will hear sound, but i will not get any video. And even older games like guild wars wont play. The video on guild wars was very laggy, and sharded. I have 6gigs of ram, and dual 6800 video cards. I didn't have these problems when i was running xp, so i am thinking there is something i forgot to do, or didn't know to do.

Hardware Stop Code In Xp Install, But Not Vista?
I'm putting a new computer together and i'm having a problem. I'm dual-booting with xp pro and vista ultimate (both are legit, fwiw ). When i install in xp, i always get a stop code error (can't remember the exact one right now. I know i got a 0x0000007a and 7b at one point). I have two sticks of 1 gb in this comp, so i took one out and tried. Still got the error. Took that one out, put the other one in. Still got the error. Not the memory. Then i decided to try vista first instead of xp, and it installed without a hitch!
So what i'm thinking at this point is that it could be the sata raid drivers i was using. So i've downloaded the latest from intel, and still am getting a stop code. Does anyone have any ideas? I've got to have xp because i use this computer for recording, mixing, mastering, etc. , And my programs aren't vista compatible yet.

Keep Getting Blue Screen
I have just built a new p. C, it is an amd athlon 3700+ 64 bit processor, 1gig of ddr ram an ati radeon x550 256mb gamers edition video card and an 80gig hdd (i'll be putting another 80gig on soon). The motherboard is an asus a8n-e. The problem i'm having is it keeps going to a blue screen at any time it feels like it and i get the following msg stop 0x0000008e (0xc0000005, 0xbfbc73df, 0xa8b83940, 0x00000000) atiduag.dll address bfbc73df base @ bfac7000 datestamp 4420c719. It also tells me that i should try a bios update or change my adapter or update the drivers. I wrote to ati, they said to uninstall all ati stuff from the p. C restart, turn the antivirus off and install the newest driver. I have done this but still get the same msg. I have yet to update the bios as i'm not sure what i'm doing in that area. I gather the problem is with the file atiduag.dll but i'm not sure what to do about it. I also wanted to go in, in safemode but don't know what buttons to push to get into safe mode. Del gets me into setup and f8 gets me into the boot setup. I'm still not sure if it's a video card prob or a motherboard prob, but i do know it needs fixing. If anyone has any ideas, could they please help me out as i'm getting rather frustrated. I'm also not using the catalyst control center at the moment.

Can't Install Vista Or Win7 On Sata Drive
I thought it would be simple. Does it matter which sata slots are used for a boot drive. There are 8 on my board 4 controlled by intel ichr7 and the others by marvel. Attempts to install windows result in error message that the drive is configured as active in the bios and suggest using diskpart utility to clean the drive? Does sata use master/slave? The hd is a wd caviar blue 300gb. What am i doing incorrectly?

Blank Blue Screen
My friend is having a problem where his comp when he boots up, goes to a blank blue scerrn. No mouse no letters no words no nothing. He has to reboot a couple times before things go as planned. He scanned for viruses using avg and for spyware using spybot but found nothing. I think that it might be a hardware problem. Any sugestions?

Memtest - Blue Screen
My computer has had various blue screens in the last few days. Mostly its machine_check_exception or critical_structure_corruption. It passes memtest with flying colors, or so i thought! I decided to run orthos over night and i set it to reboot upon bsod. I also inserted the memtest cd so as soon as it rebooted it would start running memtest. Well as soon as it crashed and memtest launched it spammed hundreds of errors. Powered off, turned back on, passed memtest with flying colors. Any ideas here? Read more at the forum.

Install Windows Xp / Vista Using A Usb Flash Drive Stick
I found a way to install windows xp or vista using a usb flash drive stick, i thought i would share it as its pretty useful. For people who understand the method, it may be useful for other stuff too, the program is called usb_multiboot_10. I have tried it and it does work.

Bsod's - Blue Screen Of Death
Well. I got my new system and all, and i put it together last night. I have it a good test run before heading to bed. Ran perfectly. So this morning, i get back on it, and decide to install norton. The installation goes through fine and everything. I restart, as needed by norton, and i notice that during post, it says my ram is "ddr333mhz, single channel". I realize that this is wrong, since the ram i purchased is pc3200, (ddr400mhz), and dual channel. I decide to go to the motherboard's user manual to see if there was something i needed to do to make it run in dual channel mode. Doh! I had placed both sticks of ram on the same channel.
I shut down windows, switch off and unplug the psu, open the case, and then i move the ram to its second channel. I close everything up and boot up windows. Everything running fine for a while until i start to install age of empires iii. Blue screen. I decided to restart, thinking it was just a one time error, but it wasn't. It seemed like every time i tried to install something, and like. Surf the web or something, it would crash/restart/bsod on me. I try a reinstall. I think i got about 8 minutes into the install, (after the initial format > copy files to hdd process), before it gave me a bsod. I used my newer copy of winxp pro, (the ones now that come with sp2 already installed).
Ok, i thought. Maybe it's the windows disc, (it's pretty scratched). I decide to use my older, non-sp2 installation disc. "Success!" I thought. Windows boots and everything. Though, i notice that my 160gb hdd is only being detected as 127gb. A bit strange i thought, so i tried to i start to install sp2, (from the disc from microsoft), to see if that would solve the hdd space problem. Crashed, (it restarts itself after every crash). I tried installing some device drivers. Some were successful, but the usb 2. 0 drivers for some reason required at least sp1. So i moved on to the next set of drivers. Crash. Once again, i tried the sp2 installation. It amazingly went through.
So now that i'm back on sp2, things seem a bit more stable. It now detects the hdd to about what it should be, (158gb). I could now install video drivers and sound drivers and whatnot, without a problem. Seemed perfectly fine, at last. Until about 5 minutes ago, where it crashed for no reason, after 30 or so seconds from a boot. At this point, i'm pretty ***. I'm might try to see if it'll work fine, back on a single channel, since it seemed to be working fine the first time. Does anyone know what might be causing the problem, anyway?
Update: went into bios and manually set the memory clock speed to 333mhz, instead of 400mhz. Everything runs perfectly. This is somewhat of a downer, since i would like to get the full potential i can from this memory. It puzzles me as to why i can't run at it's full speed. The board supports ddr400mhz dual channel ram, so i don't see where the problem could be.

Constant Random Blue Screen
Well for various reasons (one being constant random blue screens) i decided to format and reinstall windows last night. So i open up the box, disconnect all storage drives put in the windows installation cd and start, use the usual settings after it's done copying files it blue screens. So i shut down and retry the whole thing again, and blue screen after the copying files portion again. First test, memory. Ran memtest86 and it had an error on test 4. I took out both sticks and one of the gold connectors on one of the sticks looked burned. So i put that aside inspected the other one and put it back in the system. Started the windows installation and crashed in the same spot. So i thought maybe i put the memory in the slot that the burned stick was in so i put it in the other spot and ran memtest86 and it passed 4 full test passes. Started windows installation. Blue screen in the same spot. Second test, hard drive - made a wd diag tool cd and did a quick scan - no errors, did a full scan - no errors. Third test, one of the pci devices. I took out all pci devices. Try again and blue screen on the same spot once again. Fourth test, video card - so i switched video cards with my bro's comp. Try to install again and once again blue screen in the same spot. At this point the only thing i can think of doing is taking everything out of the system and trying the install as bare as possible. Any thing you guys suggest?

Blue Screen Of Death While At Default
Well, my computer was up for like an hour, and when i tried to play some bf1942 i got a very brief blue screen (~. 2 seconds) and then a restart. Tried to boot into windows, the second my desktop loaded, got another blue screen (this time ~2 seconds), and yet another restart. I'm pretty sure i can rule out heat. As i've got a prometeia mach i phase change. The bios is at default, but what else could it be? My mem is at default as well.
