Monitor Goes Blank - Mode Not Supported
Replies: 4 | Post Date: March 20th 2006 | User: Manofice | Forums: devhardware.comWhen i boot up my computer during the boot process my monitor goes blank and displays "mode not supported, 36hz. Etc" something like that. Anyone know anything might cause this, its a flat screen mag i believe". It does this for most of the boot process and then when it comes to logging in, it shows back up and everything is fine. Edit: would going to windows property/advance/monitor and changing the refresh rate to 60hz. Would that help this issue? I cant test this now seeing that i'm at work.

Monitor Mode Not Supported
I have a samsung monitor and when i connect it to pc it says "mode not supported" with black background?
Answer:- your video adapter is currently set to a mode that the monitor cannot display. If it does not adjust itself automatically (many drivers will sense the mismatch and correct the problem automatically in a few seconds) set the display resolution to something that it can handle (1024 x 768 is almost always safe) and 60 hz refresh and connect it. Reboot and then go in and adjust the resolution to the monitor's native display resolution for the best performance.

Pc Monitor Screen Kept Going Blank While Using
Yesterday my monitor screen kept going blank while using my pc. The fans and computer were still running and the monitor was receiving no signal. A buddy was at my place and said he had the same issue and to replace my monitor. I went and bought a new monitor came home, hooked it up and the same issue kept happening. Funny thing is, if i hook the monitor up to the motherboard monitor connector everything works correctly. So am i left to think this is a videocard and/or powersupply issue?

Disable Second Monitor While First Monitor Is In Fullscreen Mode
Is there an automated way to disable the second attached monitor whenever the first monitor goes into full-screen mode with an ati video card (hd 4870)? I have a few games that don't like my second monitor being attached and this would be better than having to always disable my second monitor.

Computer Monitor Suddenly Went Blank
I was working on my computer when the monitor suddenly went black. Nothing seemed to be different in the tower; there were no sound changes, no light changes. The monitor's power light stayed on. I recently acquired another computer and monitor from a friend and decided to hook both monitors to both towers to troubleshoot. Both monitors work fine when hooked up to the second computer, and both monitors stay blank when connected to the first computer. So, the problem has to be in the tower. What sort of problem does it sound like i have? What should my next step be? The only spec i have for the machine, since i can't access the hard drive, is that it's running xp.

Blank Monitor After Frozen State
Usually after several minutes or about 5 minutes of computer use time my computer freezes up. After this i reset the computer and wait for it to boot up but instead, when the computer starts up (like the power starts on) there's no display on the monitor. It's plain black. I turn it on and off and on and off and about after 10-20 mins it starts up normally again. I usually got an error sometimes after it froze saying something about my intel graphics driver. I looked around the forum saying it could be the motherboard or a bad cpu but currently right now i don't have the type of cash that would be enough to make repairs. I want to figure out what the problem is besides the mobo since mobo's are not exactly cheap. (Attached is what cpuz read)

5850 Problem - Monitor Goes Blank
I recently upgraded to an asus 5850 hd and i'm having one annoying problem with it. Even though i have all my games set to the same desktop and refresh rate as my monitor (1920x1080 60hz), when the game loads or whenever i alt tab, the monitor goes blank and takes a few seconds before popping back on, just like it would do if i was changing resolutions. It never did this with my old video card (8800 gt) and i've also tested 2 different monitors. Any idea what's going on here?
Running the catalyst 9. 11s and win7 64bit. Edit: after further testing it seems that dragon age can alt tab without the monitor blanking out even though it's apparently set to the same settings as the other games. Wow and crysis act like res is changing when alt tabbing though.

Dell Monitor Screen Goes Blank
I have a dell 19" monitor. Model #1907fpc. The monitor turns on for a second and i can see my desktop but then the screen goes blank. Computer Not Booting, Monitor Blank, No Beeps
I having trouble booting my computer, when i turn on my computer there no beeps, the monitor is blank, all the fans are running at full power, the power and hdd led are both on, my dvd-rw has power but my dvd-rom does not (the dvd-rom is new got it two days ago), optical mouse light up, no light on the keyboard, all the hardware looks fine, i took every thing out of the motherboard blow out dust then put the cpu, memory and video card back on and try booting it and the same thing happens no beeps and blank screen. I then reconnect every but did not connect the ide cable to the dvd-rom and try booting it and the same thing happens but this time the dvd-rom has power. I’m not sure if it’s the motherboard, the power supply, the cpu or the memory.

Monitor Screen Will Go Completely Blank For About 2 Seconds
So i got a new lcd monitor. This one , actually. It seemed like a good deal. Anyways, i think there is a problem with it. Every once in a while (about every 20 minutes), the screen will go completely blank for about 2 seconds, and then turn back on and be completely normal, and then repeat about 20 minutes later. I know its minor, but my god it gets annoying. I am using the digital output on an ati radeon 9550 256mb video card. Have any of you heard of this problem before?
Do you think that there is most likely a problem with the monitor, or possibly with the video card? This is the first time i’ve used the digital video capability before, but why would it happen roughly every 20 minutes?

Monitor Stuck In Standby Mode
My pc has run perfect for about 2 months now. But the other day i was on it and it suddenly crashed. I waited for a while but it still remained frozen. So i restarted it but there was no display on my mointor, it's like stuck in standby mode it's just stays on the orange light not the green. At first i thought it may of been the video card so i swapped it with a gforce 4 and still it stays in standby mode. It's not the monitor cause it's working fine with this pile of junk for a pc im having to use now. Anyone have any ideas whats causing this problem.

Lg Monitor Power Saving Mode
I just bought a new computer yesterday. Everything seems fine with it but whenever i try to restart, the monitor always go on "power saving" mode. And it is why i'm having difficulty to install windows xp sp2 on it. Where is the source of the problem?

Monitor Error - Not Optimum Mode
So i have a syncmaster 2233sw and everytime i open a blizzard game such as starcraft or warcraft, the monitor displays the error, "not optimum mode, recommended mode: 1920x1080, 60 hz" then after like 20 seconds the screen goes black. Answer:- select your monitor's resolution to 1920x1080, 60 hz (if ur monitor supports that) and also run the game by configuring the game's display settings to 1920x1080, 60 hz. It'll work fine, first check if ur monitor does have 1920x1080, 60 hz compatibility

After Booting Monitor Goes Straight Into Standby Mode
I recently got a new case, and after removing everything, and installing them into the new case, i get a blank screem. The computer appears to be booting, but the monitor goes straight into standby mode when i turn it on. Whilst i had the case open, i installed a new heatsink fan on my 9800 pro, which i thought may have been the problem, but i have used an old 4000xt, which was previously housed in this computer. Still, blank monitor. I've already tried it with just the old 4000xt in, without soundcard and 9800 pro (the old one is pci ops: ), should i try it with just one stick of ram as well, or without the hdd connected. I don't think it is a broken monitor, as when i remove the cable from the gfx, i get a 'no signal' error on the monitor. Update: i've managed to pass post and beep, but the monitor goes stright into standby with either gfx, well it is in standby, and doesnt turn on shall we say - when i turn it off, and on again, its on green for a few seconds before it goes onto its orange standby colour.

Use Eyefinity Driver For 2 Monitor Span Mode With 4850 ?
Any ideas if this will work with current tech to emulate the span mode from windows xp? Set 2 22's to 3360x1050?

Pc Wont Boot And Monitor Switches Into Power Saving Mode
My problem is that my pc won’t start up. First, the monitor sets on (green light) but then immediately switches into power saving mode (no view at all), and meanwhile the pc boots up, runs for about 10 seconds, and then the internal speaker recites a beep code (once only). I’ve recorded it, so it can be heard at http://media. Putfile.com/bios-beep-code. The pc won’t show any image on the monitor when starting up, not at any point, the monitor just goes straight to power saving mode. My motherboard is asus a8n-sli deluxe, bios rev. 1016. Ok, here's what i've got so far:
I have booted the pc with only the motherboard, the video card, the processor and the power supply unit on. The beep code still persists, listen here: http://media. Putfile.com/bios-beep-code. Then i took off the video card, and the beep didn't change.could this mean that the card is responsible since the monitor doesn't show any image, and because the card isn't registering at all, and thus producing the beep whether it is onboard or not? Or should i look at the power supply unit, the motherboard or the processor, all unlikely?
I've ruled out the ram as the cause of the problem, i've got 4 sticks of it and i've tested each stick individually. Also, the psu does generate power to the pc as it does go on, the power light is on, the gpu led is on as is the motherboard led. The fans are all working as well. I've also re-set the cmos, replaced the cmos battery and double checked all the wirings in the pc. I've left the psu and the monitor cables detached from anything for more than an hour to clear any static charges as well. All the dusty parts have been cleaned. Well, as i have an award bios, the beep code suggests that it's the video card that's the problem here. The problem is, that i haven't got another card to test, and no compatible pc to test the current card in. Should i buy a new card? It'll be an expensive step, and i dare not go there if i'm not sure. I've recorded the whole start-up process with all the loading clicks in case of anything unusual, you can listen to it here: http://media. Putfile.com/pc-start-up-sounds. Tell me if you hear anything out of place other than the beep code. What i'd like to know now, is that what is the most likely culprit? I can and will replace it, but i'm not keen on having to replace the video card, the psu, the motherboard and the processor before the set-up finally works.

Monitor Connected To Laptop In Extended Desktop Mode Not Working
Why wont halo combat evolved run through an alternate monitor connected to my laptop in extended desktop mode? I have it all set up with my new 20" monitor connected to my laptop, using the extended desktop feature. The are connected through the normal blue monitor cable, and i have a 512mb ati radeon graphics card. I can run every other game i have, including cod 4, 6, crysis, halo 2 etc on the monitor, perfect, but i start halo combat evolved and it just has a black box in the middle of my screen?
I can run it on my laptop without my monitor plugged in. And i have fiddled around with the resolution because i feared halo might not support what ever resolution i have now (1600x something - forgot lol), but ive tried everything and i cantt gett it to work.

Monitor Stuck In Power Save Mode After Coming Back From Long Idle
Not sure if this is os, display or graphics card trouble; i have my displays set to turn off after 15 minutes of inactivity in windows 7 with a nvidia gtx 260. If i come back to the computer, after it has been idle for a long time (especially when logged out) the secondary display will turn on but the primary display will be stuck in power save mode. When i move the mouse or hit a key, the secondary display (dell 2407wfp) shows the wallpaper image or blank screen if logged out but effectively turns back "on".
The primary display (dell 2408, much newer) flickers for a sec, shows the dvi icon, then goes back to power save mode and turns off as if its not getting a signal from the graphics card. Turning the monitor on or off again does not solve the problem. Restarting the computer (holding down the power button) does solve the problem, but i'd rather not hard-restart it like that every time i come back to my computer. Sometimes by bringing a window to the foreground on the primary display, such as pressing ctrl alt del then opening task manager blind, or right clicking on the secondary display and opening the nvidia control panel, i can get the display to turn back on.

Microphone Not Supported
None of my microphones work with my realtek sound chipset. Whenever i plug it in and select (when prompted) what the device is from the realtek menu it then states that this sort of device is not supported. I know in the picture i'm actually putting it in the wrong header but i have also tried the correct one, it's just for the picture i've [ut it into one of my front connectors to show you the problem (it's identical), as i didn't want to pull my computer forward again. Any help on this would be appreciated as i need to get teamspeak working for eve online. I have tried 7 different microphones and updated to every driver i can think of.

Overclocking Not Supported By Bios
I bought a new system a few days ago. I got an intel e2220 dual core 2. 4ghz, corsair xms2 ddr ii 800 with a sapphire radeon 4850 toxic. Now, the problem is the motherboard that i got. The motherboard that i wanted was the asus p5kpl-cm, but they didn't have it in stock, so, the impatient person that i am, i went with another board; the intel g31pr pearl creek. Unfortunately, just after installing the system, i realized that the intel board can't overclock via the bios. I've been looking for software to overclock my cpu, even though i know it's not the best way, but in my case it's probably my only way. I want to know if anyone can help me with a way to overclock my processor, or maybe if i flashed my bios to maybe the asus one that i wanted, since it uses the same chipset, whether it'll work. I know the dangers involved with bios flashing, that's why it's not even a real consideration.

Software, Which Can Tell Max Memory Supported By A Computer
Just wondering if there's a software out there that'll tell what type of memory my computer can support. I have one of those prebuild insignia computers (2. 8ghz). I am using a program called siw (system info for windows). For memory, it says that the memory i have right now is pc2700 (166mhz) sdram ddr. There is 1x512 stick right now. In another computer i have, there are 2x512 mb sticks of pc3200. So trying to see if those will work in this computer. Edit: alright. Went ahead and changed them out. Now the problem is that it's not detecting a 2nd stick of ram in bios. Through siw, it detects 2 slots each with 512 mb. But in bios it says slot #1 512 mb, slot #2 not available, do i need to upgrade bios, or is there a way to get bios to detect? Even through windows, it only shows 512 mb.

Creative Soundblaster Pci 128 Not Supported Under Winxp ?
I recently bought a creative soundblaster pci 128 for my secondary pc, found it at a very low price and i bought that instead of one of those cheap unbranded soundcards that are available every where these days; hoping that it would have better support and sound quality. But i was wrong !. The card is detected by windows xp and it installs drivers automatically but only one audio out (2. 1) works i even tried installing the drivers from the creative site, cant get the rear speaker out working no matter what i do. And there is no tone control (bass treble control). Any ideas ?. I searched around in the net and seems that some other ppl are also having similar problems with this card under xp / 2000.
