Code 43 Hotfix From Amd For Ati Cards

Haven't got a chance to try it out, but let us know. This is the only thing making me keep xp around. I think its a catalyst update and requires 9. 3 drivers. I know the download says it is rc1, so hopefully a permanent fix is close. This is the code that lots have been having since 8. 10 where windows pops up and tells you it has disabled an incompatible adapter. Symptoms:

* When enabling crossfirex in the ati catalyst control center, the secondary gpu reports the following error "error code 43 - incompatible display"

* Whql drivers not available for ati radeon hd 4890 series

Resolution:

* Provides catalyst whql certified driver for the ati radeon hd 4890. * Resolve the "error code 43 - incompatible display" issue seen on the secondary gpu when enabling ati crossfirex in the ati catalyst control center. Recommendation:

Install this hotfix

Ati Master Cards And Crossfire Cards

Ok im looking at the x1950xt's. Ive noticed that it says at the bottom of the description

Crossfire compatible - master edition ati/his x1950 card required!

Ok, but im only planning on using 1 card, can i still not use the crossfire card instead of the master card?

Im just curious, its fairly trivial since they both cost the same but just to put my mind at rest. Would it be possible?

Helpful Solutions To Ati Defected Cards

I bought my first ati card, the aiw 7500 64mb. I had similar problems with the drivers, card shutting down constantly, graphic issues and more. All of what i see others are having with their cards in this forum. Nothing i tried worked. I even went through the ati techs, who couldn't help me. One tech was right. My card was defected. So they gave me an rma number to send it in for repairs. One week later, i got a new card from them. Everything worked perfectly. Perfectly. I ended up buying another ati card. The ati aiw 9600 128mb. I bought it because 64mb wasn't enough speed for some of my games. I had the same issues with the new card. Especially with the constant shutdowns and freezing. Again nothing in this forum helped, neither did the techs at ati. Again one tech was right. This card too was defected. I sent this one in for repairs. One week later, i got the card back and now everything is working perfectly. Even with every driver that it didn't work with before the repair. My point is this: a lot of us are having similar problems with these ati cards. Both of mine were bought defected. Some of you may have the same problem. (A defected card. ) It is my opinion. But could i be correct? Try it, call ati to have your card sent in for free repair. I bet anything that card will work perfectly when it comes back. Now some of you may have passed your warranty time in which case you will have to pay for repair. But for those of you whose warranties are still in affect, do what i did! If your card comes back working like mines did, then i know i am right about these cards. Three friends of mine did the same thing i did and theirs came back working great. Yes i am starting to believe some of these cards are being sold defective for one reason or another. But it is worth the try. It worked for me and others i know. Just may work for you too. Hope this helps a lot of you out there.

Nvidia Ati Video Cards Numbering System

So i built a computer quote for someone on reddit, and i got flamed for choosing the video card that i did. This made me realize that, well, i don't know jack *** about the modern graphics cards, nvidia primarily. The previous incarnation of cards made sense. 8100-8300 is the low range, 8400-8600 is the mid range, and 8700-8900 is the high range, with gt, gtx, etc. Denoting higher qualities of cards. But now that they've passed 9000, i don't know *** about what's good, what isn't, etc. I mean i can look at benchmarks, but they have a convention for a reason, and i'm in the dark. If ati's numbering system can be described as well, that'd be swell.

Amd's Ati 10.3a Catalyst Driver Update

Amd's ati 10. 3a catalyst driver update - amd is putting out a new "performance" driver that sports some very aggressive frame rate increases according to amd. The new "10. 3a" driver will soon be released to the enthusiast with a whql driver coming in shortly behind that. Interestingly enough, the non-whql will have a couple more tweaks than the whql version. Let's give you the details. http://www.Hardocp.com/article/2010/03/16/amds_ati_103a_catalyst_driver_update

Notebook Ati Cards - Radeon 9800 And Radeon X600 Difference

Say a 256mb radeon 9800, and/or 256 radeon x600, how much of a difference would these have compared to their desktop counterparts. I wanna assume that they would try to just port it into the lappy but i seriously doubt that. So i guess that if the desktop 9800 has 8 pipes, the lappy version wud have 4 to keep it cooler? Same applies to x600 then right?

The other thing is, how does the desktop x600 compare to nvidia. Wats its competitor card? A regular 6800? Highly doubt that. Ill look this one up. I dont know the number of pipes on the x600. . Using sapphire's x600 pro for reference. It is 4 pipes. What the , fx series then?! 5950xt or sumthin in that order?

Dvd Encoding Speed, Amd 32bit Vs Amd 64bit System

I'm going to upgrade my computer after christmas and not sure what to do. That's where you fine folks come in. I'm only a medium gamer. But i'm stuck between up grading my computer from my present computer amd barton 2500+ oced to 2. 2 with an abit nf7-s v2 with 512mb of kingston hyperx pc400 and a g-force 4 ti-4400 video card. Now my choices are to go with a better video card and the one i'm thinking is the g-force 6800 gt. Or upgrading my system to a 64 bit amd. Which would be amd 3200+ socket 939-90nm cpu with maybe the msi neo 2 but not sure with the mobo. Now i'm not a real heavy every day gamer so i'm leaning towards the 64 bit system. I do alot of copying my own dvds and i use dvdshrink 3. 2. One of my questions is: with using dvd shrink 3. 2 what kind of speed increase can i expect with a 64bit system over my present system. For instance i just bought dodgeball the movie with ben stiller. I have a 8x dvd burner which is the benq. It usually burnes dvd movies with nero at 8min 20sec. And it took 28min 48sec to encode dodgeball and burn it with dvd shrink 3. 2. I'm not sure if dvd shrink includes the burn time in with the 28 min 48 sec. So all you guys out there with 64bit systems how long does it take to encode a normal dvd. I use a liteon xj-166s 16x dvd rom to rip the movie and the benq 8x dvd burner to burn them. Any info would be great. My system specs are below. Please help me decide. I do everything with my computer. Watch tv, play games, listen to music, watch dvds, do spread sheets with excel 2003. Also what 939 mobo do you recommend and why. I'm leaning towards the nforce 3 chipset. I would like the new nvidia sli chipset but looks to be way out of my budget.

Beep Code

Whenever i turn on my computer, it makes this long beep noise and i am guessing somethings wrong with it. The thing is, everything seems to work fine. >_>;; i tried to "decode" the beep code, but i must be quite stupid, because i can't seem to match with the right one. My motherboard is: ga-965p-ds3. The beep codes listed on its manual are:
-
1 short: system boots successfully
2 short: cmos setting error
1 long 1 short: dram or m/b error
1 long 2 short: monitor or display card error
1 long 3 short: keyboard error
1 long 9 short: bios rom error
Continuous long beeps: dram error
Continuous short beeps: power error
-

I have recorded the beep noise with my mp3 player and the sound has been slightly distorted(?), But it didn't change much from the actual sound.

Keyboard Error: ( Code 41 )

Yesterday someone came out and connected my computer to my home network. After they left and i got back to my computer, i found that my keyboard didnít work. I found that in the device manage my keyboard's icon had an exclamation point next to it, and when i clicked on it it said:"windows successfully loaded the device driver for this hardware but cannot find the hardware device. (Code 41)". I assumed there was something wrong with my ps2 port, so i went out and bought a usb keyboard. No luck. So far i have tried: removing the driver and reinstalling it, removing the driver, unplugging the keyboard, plugging it in and installing the driver, removing the driver in safe mode (which i can access by the way; the keyboard stops working when the computer starts up. ), Trying different keyboards, and even removing sp2 (that solved someone on a different forum's problems), and nothings worked so far. I've also tried system restore, but i donít know for sure if it restored my computer to a time earlier than when it was messed with. The person who connected me to the network is on vacation now, so i cant really contact them. I've scoured the internet (using the onscreen keyboard), and can't find anything helpful, also i forgot to mention that the buttons on the top of the keyboard work. (Buttons specific to the keyboard like media, favorites, volume etc).

No Post, No Beep Code, Nothing

A week ago, i had a fully running system that had worked fine for the past 2 years. What ended up happening is my video card began to fail, artifacting all over the place and eventually locking up. I sent it in to get it rma'ed and its in the mail. I got bored yesterday and decided to upgrade my video gard since radeon 4870's were on sale for 170 at my local shop. The card worked great, i played some tf2, messed with the clocks a little bit, watched my little bro play some wow etc. It worked fantastic, and was only 170. Good deal it seems. I made sure that the power requirements would not be too much. The card only uses 180 or so if i remember correctly, so it should be fine with a 500w unless my math is beyond retarded. Anyways, this morning i turn my box on and get no bios post message, no beep code, nothing. It powers up fine, but absolutely nothing happens other than fan activity and power lights. I can feel the harddrive spinning up, and the cdrom drive also works. This is what i have done so far:

-Checked all connectors, reconnected the video card power supply cables (what are those called anyways?). -Checked that my monitors were working (both dvi and vga monitors). -Pulled out all sticks of ram but one w/ video card in. Nothing. -Pulled out all ram and video card, turned it on, nothing. -Pulled out the video card, turned it on. Nothing. -Reset the bios by taking out the battery and using the reset jumper as instructed by my mobo's manual, put it all back. Nothing. -All of the capacitors on the motherboard look intact. -As far as i know nothing got hot last night, i was watching the temps to see how hot the new card runs. When i power it on everything comes alive, but i noticed that the harddrive activity light has nothing on it. Not sure if that means anything. I don't have another video card or desktop handy to swap cards/boxes to verify the video card is working/eliminate it as the problem, but i plan to do that later on today and will update this post, i just had a minute to post so i was hoping i could get some tips.system:-

Asus p5l-vm 1394 mobo
Asus 8800gts 320mb (now its a sapphire radeon 4870 1gb)
4gb of kingston ddr2 ram
500w psu
Intel core 2 duo e6600
320gb seagate hard drive.

Nvidia Geforce - Code 12

I have a year old polywell with 2 gb of ram, amd 4800 and a nvidia geforce 7800 gt card and a samsung 970p monitor. Recently my screen has slowed down and when i scroll up and down instead of scrolling smoothly it scrolls one section of a time and has become very choppy. I went to my device manager and under display adaptor the nvidia geforce 7800 gt card has a exclamation point. When i went into the nvidia geforce 7800 gt card properties i get the following message for the device status:

"This device cannot find enough free resources that it can use. (Code 12)

If you want to use this device, you will need to disable one of the other devices on this system. Click troubleshoot to start the troubleshooter for this device. "

Is my graphics card dying?

When i go inside my computer and to make sure the graphic card is securely attached and put everything together, the graphic card works again and everything is fine. The next time i boot up the computer, the graphic card does not work and i get the same code 12 problem. Any advice on how to fix this.

Device Will Not Start (code 10)

Ok, concerning all that i found elsewhere in reference to external hard drives and the "device will not start (code 10)" message, i am going to take a leap here and assume that it may have crossed paths on this forum also. Believe me when i say that i tried every piece of advice i came across and none of it has worked. Yes, i changed usb slots, i removed the drivers from the registry physically and rebooting my win xp made no difference whatsoever. Does anyone have the solution to this problem?

I'm tempted to switch from usb to firewire but not so sure it wouldn't end up in the same spot and still leave my 200gb of info totally out of reach. I'm looking for a solution that leaves my external hd intact and functional unless there simply is no cure for this problem. I am looking for expert advice from the experts for i am not one.

Error: This Device Could Not Start ( Code 10 )

I have 895mb of ram on my system now, but i started with 1gb? Anyways, i kept getting blue screens and they told me to use a new video adapter. I got a new video card and it reccomends 1gb of ram. It has a vga adapter that you have to connect your monitor to for it to work. I went into device manager and it said "this device could not start (code 10). " Then after some lagg, the computer froze. Is this a ram problem? And if it is, can i just buy one stick of 2gb ram instead of adding 1gb to the current 895mb? I have windows vista home basic 32-bit. Int pent 4 proc. 3. 0ghz. I went into system setup when it booted, and changed the primary video card to pci-e, which is what the new video card runs on. The video card is the radeon hd 3650 1gb ddr2. This is like my 3rd topic, i know. Bare with me, i keep running into like 2 different problems every day.

Bsod - Cannot Catch The 0x00 Code

For some reason my friend's laptop gets the blue screen of death. He took it to best buy and all they could tell him is that it was not the hard drive because they replaced that. It wont boot to windows, and it doesnt pause long enough on the blue screen for me to catch the 0x00 code. I am experienced in computers, but i have always worked on desktops, not laptops. Is there any way i can test his hardware without a hardware tester and spare hardware? Im thinking it is the onboard video or the whole motherboard itself. Best buy also said that it"may" be that the motherboard is bad. Any suggestions?

Error Installing Nic - Code 35

My friend has a asus m3a79-t deluxe, he's trying to install a wireless card. The drivers install fine and everything is hunky dory except for this error:

Your computer's system firmware does not include enough information to properly configure and use this device. To use this device, contact your computer manufacturer to obtain a firmware or bios update. (Code 35)

His bios is fully up to date. It just doesn't make any sense to me. The only possible solutions are "update the bios" which he has done. So what the *** is going on? Thanks in advance

Oh. He has vista ultimate 64 bit, 8gb of ram, phenom ii 940 (i think), nothing's overclocked.

Beep Code - 1 Long, 2 Short

This morning my pc told me my network cable was unplugged after being on the net for 30 min. I rebooted the computer and was confronted with the beep code: 1 long, 2 short. No video though case and cpu heat-sink fans are running. I researched these codes and found : video ram error or memory error (depending on where i went). This is what i've tried:

(1) reseated video card and memory
(2) swapped video card to diff pci-e slot
(3) swapped video card for known working backup
(4) swapped memory for spare set of 2x512mb pc 3200
(5) gave mobo a once over to check for blown caps >>>none found

Things i'm contemplating doing:

(1) changing power supply (too much hassle now since i'm going to work in 20 mins). (2) try other 2 memory slots (didn't do it yet since manual said to use a1 and b1 slots for my configuration). This incident will make me get off my ass and finally upgrade to my i7 system in waiting, but i hate to build under these conditions. Any and all input and suggestions are appreciated. This is my system:

Asus a8n 32sli deluxe
Opteron 170 (stock)
Evga 8800gts video card
2x1gb ocz ddr pc3200 (set to correct voltages and timings)
Enermax noisetaker eg701 power supply
Samsung and seagate sata drives (2 of each)
Benq 1620 dvd burner
