Vhs To Hdd Transfer

I'm attempting to put all of my older vhs tape media on my pc's hdd. My vcr is older as it only has audio/video in and out rca jacks and of course a cable f-jack (believe that's what a normal cable jack is called), not even an s-video jack. My video cards are xfx 7800 gt's extreme editions in which i believe has vivo. Also i have a pvr-500 dual tuner tv card hooked up to my makeshift htpc setup. This might be the most feasible way to capture video from my vcr, but i'm a little sketchy on how to go about doing it.

Is there a way for me to get my music files and perhaps other larger amounts of files from my old wd onto my new sg barracuda hdd by transfer? And in the end be running windows off the seagate while just using the wd as the storage only drive? If not, then what do you suggest? And if i can, then how would i go about it?

Hdd Transfer Speed Over Usb

I keep on wondering how come my hard drives have such a low transfer speed with usb. I have a mybook and a usb docking station. Both of them cannot transfer past than 20mbs. When i switch back to sata, i get at least 3 times the transfer speed (more for my faster drives). Sata is faster than usb, i can understand that. But usb 2. 0's rated transfer rate is 60mbs, what exactly is throttling the speed?

Difference In Transfer Rate From Usb To Usb And Hdd To Usb

I have an seagate 160gb external hdd (fat32), and i was wondering if moving the page file to the external disk would garner any extra performance gains. I was also wondering if there is a difference in the transer rate from the usb->usb and hdd->usb. I was thinking about using hdtach on my external drive, so i think i'll give that a try.

Vhs To Dvd - Recommendations For Hardware

Ok we have a bunch of old home-made vhs's. One capturing my life from the time i was very little. I'm 15 1/2 now and now relize the effects of magnetic decay. We barely watch these tapes but when we do, the quality is becoming poor. I know if something isn't done with converting these tapes to dvd, they will be soon lost to the ages. Now my dad is really old fashioned so we don't have that good of a computer but i think it would still be able to do some basic vhs ripping and dvd burning. I know i'll need to dvd burner. Walmart is selling a hp one for around $100 bucks so i may be able to convince my dad to buy it. I also know i need a video capture card in which i can hook up my vcr to. Also some good and cheap software for it (might be bundled with the burner). Can you guys please help me find a cheap but high quality video capture card and software. Also what are your opinion on this? I know my computer isn't the best (600mhz processor, 320mb of ram, windows 98 se), but i know for sure my dad won't buy a new computer. Time really isn't a big deal so i can put up with the slow machine. I know when this computer first came out they were using computer this slow for video editing.

And i would like to play from his turntable and cassette player on my computer. What extra hardware would i require, what software would i need. How much would it cost and where can i get it?

Capture Card To Convert Vhs To Vcd

Im looking for a really cheap capture card, mostly just to convert all my vhs to vcd. Among these, which one would you choose? Btw, my choices are quite limited cause i stay in malaysia and we don't really have a diverse selection of components (it's impossible to get bfg cards here)

I) hauppage win tv express 125
Ii) compro videomate x50
Iii) k-world tv + fm mpeg-4
Iv) k-world tv + fm mpeg-4 + digital home
V) k-world dvd maker capture card pci
Vi) avertv go tv/stereo fm/wake up tuner
Vii) avermedia dvd ez-maker vcd pci
Viii) pinnacle pctv stereo tuner
Ix) pinnacle pctv stereo tuner
X) pinnacle pctv 40i pmc3 stereo /mce
Xi) pixelview play tv pro 2
Xii) m-walker tvfm pci

I was actually using a compro videomate tv pvr which was running perfectly for slightly over a year but it doesn't seem to be functioning properly now because recently my com won't boot up properly and i get bios error notices if its there. It must be the card itself that's the problem because i tried it on 3 other competes and it gave the same problems.

Transfer Data Between Two Pcs

What is the best way to transfer the data between two computers depends on the following factors. Data transfer rate expenditure on such technology ease of use. Iíve made a poll option, and make your comments there. Hereís what i thought on this case. Usb 2. 0 supports data rates as high as 480mbps, even in normal condition it can be around 50mbps. So, to transfer 1gb of data it takes around 20 - 30 seconds. Easy to use, because the hot plug is supported. But it is expensive. To use nic (network interface card), first need to install drivers or software, because some of the main boards donít integrated nic circuitry there. Data transfer rate of crossover cable is varied from 100mbps to 10mbps. So it takes more than 30 seconds to transfer 1gb of data. Especially the length of the cable determines that. Cheaper than usb 2. 0. At the end, two factors are satisfied (data transfer rate and ease of use) by usb 2. 0, and seems to me it is fine.

Transfer Data Between Pcs

I have a new computer being shipped within the next week, and i want to transfer all of the data from this computer to the new one. I don't want to put it all on cds, but i was thinking, can i get an external hard drive to store all of this data on, and then load it onto the new computer?

I'm just not sure what to do really, but if anyone has any specific ideas, please tell me. I'd love to be able to have my data ready from this computer to be put onto the new one before the computer gets here.

Very Slow Usb Transfer / Detection

I have asus m3n78-vm mobo and it has some problems in it. I think my usb ports are not running as fast as they can. When starting windows it takes ages to detect my external hdd , buffalo drivestation 500gb usb 2, and transferring like 300 mb file from internal hdd to that external is pain in the ass slow. Transferring from external to internal it has no problems. Files fly from buffalo to my internal sata hdd. But if i try to move file from that internal hdd to external buffalo, windows says it takes about 10 minutes to transfer one 300 mb file and it does also take that long, so what a heck? Im confused. I checked bios and all usb 2 features are on in bios. I also had some weird io shutdown problems. Anyone has any solutions to this? My buffalo also has some turbousb feature but dunno if it works. Oh and i use 32 bit xp pro with sp3 in it. Btw my old mobo dfi lanpary nf3 ultra-d did not have this problem with my external hdds. I have also tried all usb ports, and its the same problem.

Can't Do Anything Else When Transfer A Large File Using Usb

So i've been running x64 for the better part of a year now on the rig in my specs. Within the last 3 months or so if i transfer a large file to any one of my various brand external hard drives i can't really do anything else on my computer, everything kinda just slows down and the usb transfer takes precedence. The strange part is my cpu usage is only like 5-15% on a single core while this is going on. I know i should most likely nuke my os install and start over but i'm curious as to what caused this. In my many years of pc tech support i have not ran into this particular issue. I have seen similar caused from crappy via usb controllers but not this exact problem. Ideas?

Transfer Speed On Usb Is Very Slow - Seagate 160 Gb Hd

I am having couple of problems with my trasnfer speed. I just bought a new enclosure case for my seagate 160gb hd. My new case is only giving me about 15 mb/sec. What can i do and how do i make it faster? I even exchanged the two hd to see if it is the hd that is causing it to be slow, but i found out it is the enclourse case. When i put the 160gb hd in the old case, it transfers at 23 mb/sec.

If there is no text in your image, you may not have to reverse your image. " Inasmuch as my transfers involve text and a logo, i need to reverse the image i'll be getting from my scanner. Some transfer will also include people's faces , which also have to be reversed to iron onto the t-shirts correctly!Tom myboy has helped me a lot in the past! Best Way To Get Max File Transfer Speed (network, Usb, Etc)

I use a laptop for my main rig (hp dv8300), and i am setting up a nas in the near future and i'm trying to come up with the best way i can get the most speed to dump data to it. It's a 945gm express chipset. I have usb 2. 0, firewire of some flavor (i can't figure out which one it is), pci card slot, express/54 card slot, 100mb nic, intel something b/g mini pci nic. Ideally i would want to get a 1000mbps nic, but since my nic is onboard i can't really swap it out. A 1000mbps usb 2. 0 nic would still limit me to the 300mbps speed of usb 2. 0. 132 mbps for express card. Right now my best idea is just to get a wirless-n mimo mini pci nic and swap it in. Unless someone has a better idea.

File Transfer Between Hard Drives Causes Computer Crash

I recently installed a new drive into my storage server (one of wd's 1tb green drives) and transferring files to it sometimes results in a computer crash. There were no issues before this latest drive was installed. Crashes have as of yet only happen when this drive is being written to, though i do not write to the other drives often so i am not sure at this point. Crashes happen much more frequently when there is increased disk activity anywhere else in the system. The system is built as follows:

Amd athlon x2 4050e 2. 1ghz dual core cpu
Jetway jnc62k w/ nvidia geforce 8200 mainboard
Os hard drive: hitachi travelstar 5k160 ata-6
Storage drives: 3x1gb wd10eads sata
Windows xp mce w/ sp3

Any suggestions where i should start troubleshooting? Does this sound like a problem you've heard before? I've run smart diagnostics on all the hard drives running wd's diag tools, and it's all come back just fine.

Transfer System Drive To Wd Caviar Black 1tb

I currently have a samsung spinpoint t166 hd501lj 500gb hard drive as my main drive, and it only has about 50gb free so i bought a wd caviar black 1tb. I originally intended this drive to be a storage drive, but i've read some articles recently that make me question transferring everything from the sammy to the wd and using it as the system drive. Apparently the wd comes with a free version of acronis to do the transfer, so it should be pretty simple. Any thoughts/opinions on this? Will i notice quite a speed difference?

Usb Transfer Files Won't Read

Everytime i transfer files to my usb like ms word document, pictures, and music. The file won't read! Why is this happening? For instance, if i try to open the picture i saved, all i got is a "mini x" and if i try to play music it won't play either. Next, i created folders with some documents inside it. If i try to open that folder, there is no file displayed. At first, i thought it was a bunch of hidden files. So i tried to change the settings to make invisible files visible. No luck. My files are nowhere to be found! If i try to delete it, i got an error message " cannot delete file. "

Note: i did error checking and also tried reformatting it. Unfortunately, its still not working. It still has a problem with reading/opening files. Worse, some of my files are freaking' hidden( despite making invisible folders visible)

Some additional info about the usb i'm using. 1gb kingston
Type:removable disk
Filesystem: fat32

Transfer Files From Virus Infected Pc To External Hard Drive

I have a trojan virus on my computer. I cannot (given my limited knowledge) remove it. I want to transfer music files from the infected computer to an external hard drive. The anti-virus program that detected the virus on my computer 'tells me' that these files are not infected. My question: what are the risks of transferring these music files to my external hard drive? I am concerned about the risk to the external hard drive itself and also to any computer that i might later transfer these files to. Wow, i hope i asked this question intelligently! Too long? More concise? More info? (I'm interested in the best way to phrase a question as i believe that being a good computer scientist is largely about recognizing a problem intelligently)
