Asus A7n8x Deluxe Bios Settings
I have been trying to modestly oc my mobo but to no avail. I have tried just about every conceivable mem' timing settings incl voltages, but it will not boot up completely. It goes through to just before the windows desktop and then resets itself back to the beginning again. I have tried various combinations using cpu multiplier, cpu freq' and upping the volts to 1. 825 but no good. Before someone suggests clearing the cmos - i have done that too on numerous occasions. Nothing i try seems to work. I'm sure it has something to do with the mem' settings. I have plenty of cooling fans, 2x256mb kingston ddr400 pc3200 ram, western digital 80gb hard drive & an amd athlon processor. Would anyone with a similar setup be able to post their bios settings for me to try or any suggestions as to where to go from here b'cos i'm out of ideas!

How To Dual Boot Clock & Stock Bios Settings ?
Has anybody come across of how to dual boot oclock & stock bios settings so that the cpu is only oclocked when needed?. I saw a write up of doing this once but cannot find it again. Also anybody using clockgen for oclocking ?.

What should be the complete bios settings[advanced menu-> chipset->internal graphics configuration ] for asus m4a88td-v evo so that my graphics card [geforce xfx gt240 ddr5] works. Currently i have installed the graphics drivers, monitor driver but the display in games/movies looks like 16 bit . Please tell me how to solve this. Settings On Laptop For Wireless Internet Connection
What settings do i have to have on my laptop for it to have wireless internet connection? I had wireless internet connection 2 days ago, but now my laptop wont connect to the internet, or a network wirelessly i have to plug the laptop into the router/modem thing. I tried restarting my laptop, and turning off the router/modem thing for 10 seconds. And it didn't work. And if you know how to fix this leave easy to follow step by step instructions.

I think my laptop (acer 7720g) has got a virus because it freezes everytime i click the internet explorer icon to enable me to connect to the web. I have been advised by some of my friends to restore my laptop back to the factory settings, and in this way i could get rid of the virus. I shall be grateful if some one can kindly answer the following questions -
1. Would restoring the laptop back to factory settings get rid of the virus and enable me to connect to the internet as normal?

How Do You Recover Hidden / Restricted Files From A Hd ?
I am trying to recover data from a hard drive which was on a laptop that is no longer functional. I am able to mount the drive and access it and pull off almost all of the data using a pcmci card and adapter. However some of the files were located on the desktop and hidden/restricted by the user for security purposes and now they cannot be accessed. I have tried to change the folder properties so that it is no longer hidden. However it is not working because access is denied. I am running windows xp and the drive which i am trying to recover the data from was running windows xp. I think the reason access is being denied is due to the fact that i am not logged on as the original user. But i'm not sure. I have created a user same that matches the account i am try to access on the old hd. No success. I have tried to copy the file onto a cd. No success. Can i boot off of the old drive even though it was configured for another computer (is there a chance it will damage the hardware of the laptop)? And can i do it using the pcmci card?
If so how do i go about doing this? Will i have to take the other hd out? Any suggestions to work around this problem?

I have an external drive via usb my friend unplugged mid transfer he said. Now when he plugs it in there is no files to see. A good chunk of the drive is used however. Enabling hidden files shows the recycle bin etc but i cannot access. Any idea how to recover his files etc?

Acer Laptop Bios / Video Driver Problem
Just pickep up a new old laptop at a garage sale. It'll be only a slight speed improvement over my current one, p200mmx vs. P166mmx. But this one uses sodimms instead of proprietary ram modules, the battery actually works well, and it has a nice keyboard and a cdrom. It came with win95 in it, surprisingly, and i had to reinstall the video and sound drivers to get it booting into windows. After some preliminary checking i installed 98se clean on its 2g primary partition, after copying the install cd to an existing 1g extended partition. This is when i realised why it still had 95 in it. It won't let me put in the video drivers for the neomagic video adapter. Every time i try and point it to the driver i want, it continues to demand the driver from the w95 cd. I can only guess there is something in the bios controlling this. It's a unisys aquanta en/m, but some investigation identified it as an acer nuovo variant. Acer seems to have drivers for their nuovo variants only for 95 and nt. I was thinking of getting one of the new samsung spinpoint 40g 5400rpm drives for it and putting in 2k when i get the ram maxed to 128mb. (I could move the drive to my next old-but-better laptop in the future and put the existing 3g back in. ) But i'm wondering if i may be limited to nt because of the video issues. The bios is accessible at any time, even in win, through function keys, and is not on the hdd. I'll do more prowling around the acer site for bios or drivers, but i'm not overly hopeful. Any feedback on resolving the video driver issue is gratefully accepted. The acer nuovo variants lack the usb port this one has, and have only one of the two sodimm slots accessible on the bottom. This has both on the bottom. I'll have to see if this matches a different model, like one of the acernotes, more exactly.

How do i change the settings of these "f keys" on my dell laptop? At the top of my dell laptop there are those little keys that say f1, f2, f3, etc. I need them for a game but when i press them, it opens up computer programs (f1 opens screen settings, f2 opens internet connection settings, f3 opens power settings. ) So how can i choose to make those programs not open these up when i press the f keys?

Aa/af Settings - Drivers Or In-game?
I usually force aa and af settings through my drivers and never really bother with the in-game settings for those. Recently however i read that using the in-game settings is recommended as they're usually more optimized, resulting faster performance and even looking better than the driver settings at times. I was wondering if that's truly the case.

Overclock Settings For Mx 4000
I just installed omega drivers for my mx 4000 and i was wondering what the best overclock settings i could use and get away with. Current:
Core clock frequency = 275 mhz
Memory clock frequency = 332 mhz
Windows xp pro
Dx 9. 0c
P3 1, 000 mhz
386 mb ram
Xfx geforce 4 mx 4000 64mb ddr 1 or 2 cant remember. Would it be a good idea to use nvflash on my card?

How To Get To 4:3 Settings On Asus Vw266h?
I recently bought the asus vw266h and it's a great monitor for my computer, but when i try to game on my 360 the the picture looks sort of cheap, i'm not sure if i'm being picky or what. Now i don't think it's my monitors fault because it's 1920x1200, even though it says it's 1080p. But i heard something about being able to change the screen format to 4:3 if something like this happens, but for some reason i can't change my screen format to 4:3 on my monitor and when i go to the 360 console settings dashboard the "screen format" section is dulled out.could somebody give me some insight as to why this is please.

5.1 With Stereo Headset (ideal Settings)
I have:
X-fi xtreme gamer fatal1ty
Klipsch ultra 5. 1 surround sound speakers
Steelsound 5h v2 headset
Windows vista 64-bit
My major question has to do with settings between windows, creative control panel and the in-game audio menu. 5. 1 is a no brainer: set everything to 5. 1, makes sure the distance to the speakers is tweaked properly and have at it. The headphone situation, however, is a little less clear, and i find myself gaming with my 'phones on more often than not nowadays (14 month old daughter). When i then throw cmss-3d and the x-fi crystalizer into the mix, it becomes a bit of a puzzle. I've tried numerous settings in combination, but i still change them on a regular basis and some pro help would be nice. My goal is to have the best positional audio possible while wearing my headset, sacrificing as little sound quality as possible. Pure headphone settings (between os/nvidia cp/in game) and cmss-3d sounds canned. 5. 1 in os and the rest headphones sounds okay, cmss-3d adds positional but seems to hurt sound quality overall. Wearing headphones, pure 5. 1 actually doesn't sound bad with cmss (oddly - sounds best with surround and not xpand). Not to mention a dozen other possible combos. Any suggestions?

Driver Settings Kills Fps
I forget to check it every time i update cat drivers, and i damn well sure people moving from nvidia to ati in mass will have no clue, this setting to the best of my knowledge does absolutely nothing positive and can sap your frame rate to half of what it would be if it was disabled, getting crappy frame rates after installing a new driver version check this out then. http://f. Optimal / Aggressive Ram Settings
My mobo: asus a7n8x-e deluxe
Cpu: athlon xp 2600+ barton core
Ram: 1 * 512 mb kingston value ram pc 2700
Os: xp sp2
My aim is to increase performance a bit through playing with hardware after i depleted all possible tweaks on xp so i started with the memory. In the bios, there's an item saying "memory timing" and it has 3 options:optimal, aggressive, user defined and the default i used 2 have is "optimal"
My question is why when changing from optimal to aggressive, the mumbers: 7, 3, 3, 2. 5t of the "sdram active precharge delay", "ras to cas", "ras precharge delay", "cas latency" respectively do not change when i change from optimal to aggressive?! I am surprised coz i thought that choosing aggressive would make some changes in these numbers below but nothing changed. i.e. In case of optimal and agreesive, i still have these same numbers so 1)what's the deal ?
And 2) is it possible 2 tweak these numbers a little bit - i do not need maximum tweaking but i am looking 2 get some more juice from ram with no compromise 4 stability
And 3) is there any kind of memory benchmark program that is a standalone exe i.e. Need no installation. Appreciating so much all yr answers 2 me especially questions 1 & 2

Viewsonic Vx910 Monitor Settings Changes
Installed new lcd monitor. Noticed when installed got 60-85mz. Then noticed that i got 60-75mz. It changed. I have been noticing that every once in a while the writing or screen shakes every 3 seconds and stops after 3 minutes. Then doesn't happen for quite a long time. Then after a restart the pixels went down. Asked to go back to natural settings and noticed that it was on 75mz when i had it on 60mz and i had 60-85mz option. After a while it went down to 60-75mz options. What is going on? Is it the driver. I have radeon x300 card and ati driver 6. 141066490. I also noticed the last change that i had the option of 1600 pixels, where the max was 1260x. Just want to make sure not the monitor!

Video Card Memory Settings
When i checked my video card properties this it what it showed me:
Total available memory 1023mb
Dedicated memory 256mb
System video memory 0mb
Shared video memory 767mb
What does it all mean, i know that my card has 256mb of dedicated memory, but the rest doesn't make sense to me, oh im running vista home premium.

Can't Change Router Settings
Can't change router settings, my computer can't connect to the modem/router, ? I'm trying to open ports so my xbox 360 can have an open nat, but i can't connect to the router. The cable modem is the router, i can connect to it and the internet but i can't find out how to change the settings on it, the cable company is cable 1.
