Computer Crashes - Beeps Continuously

Lately, my computer has been crashing seemingly randomly, and then proceeds to emit beeps from within the tower until i get up to restart it. The crashes seem random, as they occur even at night, when the computer is sitting here not in use. The tower then beeps until it is restarted. I had originally thought this was caused by a loss of memory, as this problem occurred almost everytime i would try and rip a cd with itunes. Now, however, it happens even when i simply run firefox, or even let the computer sit with nothing in particular running.

Continuously Rebooting

I built the first computer i've ever built a week ago and for the most part everything was working fine. Now though, it keeps rebooting continuously. It doesn't throw any software errors, it never gets to the bios, it just sits at the screen for my mobo and then restarts. I checked my hardware with some programs when i first built it and they detected all of my ram, so i don't think it could be seated incorrectly (could it?), And the temperature for all of my parts never really got above 55c. My first thought was that my psu, which is a 550 watt bfg, didn't have enough power.

My video card is a evga 260 gtx superclocked edition which says it should have a minimum of 500 watts. I also have an intel e8500 3. 16ghz processor. Does my psu have enough power for both of those? Or could it be something else?

Constant Computer Crashes

The issue started about a week ago, every now and then the computer will lock up to the point i must hard restart it. I have exhausted every effort i know to find the issue. I have ran a hard drive test, memtest (56 tests with no failures, i don't know how many tests there are but it was still going and ive heard 49 was enough tests). I have dusted the computer out and such. The problem started whenever i was playing games but eventually migrated toward just surfing the internet. As far as i can tell it is completely random.system:-

Os: windows vista home premium 64bit
Processor: intel core 2 duo cpu 3. 16ghz
Ram: 4 gigs
Video cards: nvidia geforce 9800m gtx sli enabled

Reinstall Xp Computer Crashes And Reboots

So i upgraded my computer's cpu, mobo, and graphics card today. When i go to reinstall xp the whole thing crashes. I turn on the computer with the disc in the drive, and it then goes to the windows instalation screen. But when i click "install windows xp", or the recovery thing it says, at the bottom of the screen, "examaning 762342 blah blah (last three were random numbers i picked)". Then, while displaying this, it just crashes, and reboots. Now, sometimes when it reboots it gets stuck at the first screen where it says all the stuff about your computer. (Cpu, hdds, cdrom drives, not the bios) but before it can list anything else it will stop at "usb mouse" and freeze untill i reboot. So, i go into the bios to see if its really there. Its not! The bios does not detect it. I looked at everything, cables, jumpers, everything. Now, i have 2 hdds, one 80gb and one 30gb. The 80 one does not work, the 30 one does. Also, everyonce and a while it will say somthing about the s. M. A. R. T being bad. Press f1 to continue.

Burning Dvds Crashes Computer

Each time i burn a dvd or cd, my computer freezes. If i burn a dvd at 1x, the computer is noticably "laggy" but is still usable. If i burn a dvd at 2x, the computer totally freezes. 30 mins later the dvd is complete and i can use the computer again. The burn progress monitor practically jumps from 0% to 100% after 30 mins. I can barely move the mouse in between. This situation happened suddenly. One day it was fine, the next day it wasnt. I did nothing in between that i can think of. Things i know it isnt:

Ram: my ram is fine. I have plenty of it, and a ram monitoring program also confirms there is plenty free. Ide cables: i have tried switching around the ide setup to no avail. Software: burning with nero/roxio/adaptec/fire burner/dvd decrypter. All freeze computer. Drive: the drive works fine for reading, and ripping. Only burning slows the computer down. It works. Eventually. Just cant use computer whilst i burn. Media: have tried plenty of different types and there is no change. Have tried rebooting etc, reinstalling software. Hard drives: have over 100 gb free, and plenty of space on the hd that contains any buffer files. Certainly isnt the reason. Only thing i havent done yet (no time) is formatted my comp. Any ideas what it could be? I dont like to format all that much.

Computer Crashes - Clicking Noises

My system keeps crashing. The symptoms are some audio clicking noises when i move the mouse, followed by general computer lagging, then pretty soon it just crashes (to a bsod if i don't manually restart before that). I just updated my graphics card (my old one went out) and its been doing it since then it seems. I've mostly noticed it when i play games. Doesn't matter what game really. After a certain ammount of time it will simply start to have audio distortion and then it will begin to lag and crash. And it has crashed while doing almost nothing a couple of times. I ran realtemp, and it appears my gpu is running at about 85c. While my processor gets to around 60c in games. I'm not sure but i don't believe those are temps that would make it crash. I've updated video card drivers, chipset drivers, nvidiaphysx drivers, audio drivers (all on 64bit certified drivers).

260 Gtx Crashes Computer

My 6 month old evga 260 gtx crashes my computer shortly after launching games on high resolution, max settings (now i'm no genius but i'm pretty sure this card should handle these settings to an extent without crashing, maybe lower fps but thats all i would expect. )

My custom rig is as follows:

Evga 260 gtx
Asus p5q pro
Corsair 750w
Intel core 2 e8400

4 gig ram (i recently upgraded from faulty ram, the problem with gpu was occurring before, so im guessing it has nothing to do with this. )

Wd cav black 640gb

I do have sufficient ventilation in the case itself. 3 120mm fans, so this shouldn't be an issue. I have downloaded the evga precision tool and gpu-z and increased my fan speed from stock 40% to 100%. Doing this will increase my gaming time and steady temps for a bit but my pc still crashes after a while.gpu-z says on idle my card is at running at ~41c, on load during game it was crashing at ~54c with fan at 40% and at 100% it was crashing somewhere around 60c. Any suggestions?

Computer Crashes When Dvd Drive Hooked Up

Got windows runing using a plane cd rom. Dvd drive worked fine on my other computer. I transfered it over. I see it in bios. While still in dos, it says new hardware found, asks if i want to start in safe mode, safe mode networked, last known good startup, or normal. Iv tried them all and it just reboots itself and goes back to the same window. The windows xp statup thing will show up(where the bar goes back and forth), will say welcome, and it just reboots. What do i do.

Computer Will Not Post, No Beeps

Turned on my main computer this morning after a week or so of it being off, and got nothing. The psu turns on, the fans spin, the hdds spin, the cd drives will not operate. In the past when i have seen this i get an alarm/beep/chirp from the system speaker letting my know of a problem - here i get no such indication. I reseated the processor and fan, removed ram, video card etc. Unfortunately i do not have a similar system to swap parts with. What does this sound like to you guys?

Computer Beeps And Freezes

When i turn on the computer, i see the windows splash screen, and then i just get a black screen. I must do a cold boot and then i can go into safe mode. But in safe mode, certain functions cause the computer to freeze and beep. I went to system tools, disk cleanup and the computer froze and started beeping. I had to do a cold boot and then i got the black screen. I did another cold boot and then i got back to safe mode. I tried to launch a mcafee virus scan, but again, the computer froze and started beeping. I had to do a cold boot and then i got the black screen. I did another cold boot and then i got back to safe mode. I ran a hijack this log but i went to save as and tried to save it to a floppy. Again, the computer froze and started beeping. I had to do a cold boot and then i got the black screen. I did another cold boot and then i got back to safe mode. Does anyone know what causes the beeping? Could it be a virus? If so, how can i remove it since the computer freezes and beeps when i try to run my virus scan.

Computer Beeps Once Then Freezes

I currently have a problem with one of my home pc's. The pc is running windows xp pro with all the latest updates. When i start the pc it starts fine with no problems, but after about 15 minutes the pc beeps once and then completely freezes, nothing moves, i am unable to turn off the keyboard cap lock lights, unable to move the mouse etc. Normally i would say that this is something to do with the motherboard because it is effecting the keyboard etc. However this has happened to one of my other pc's in the past, i formatted the drive and it was fine. I think that it maybe caused by a virus because i am unable to run any of my anti-virus tools. I have installed: superantispyware, malwarebytes, avg free and spybot. The only ones i can get to work is superantispyware when running in the alternative start mode. I have tried the following so far: booting in safe mode but the pc does eventually do the same thing and freezes. I have tried running mscopnfig and removing unwanted services and startup items but again this hasnt made any difference. I have checked the event logs and nothing is there. Please can anyone offer any help?

Computer Beeps One Long Two Short

I have a a8n32 deluxe and about a month after having the board it start to just shut it self off at random intervals. I thought i solved the problem by changing my hdd sata port to another one on the board but it started to happen today again. Now when i turn on my computer it makes 1 long beep and 2 short beeps. From what i found on the internet that means that i have a failure in the video system. After swapping out my 8800gts with my 7600gt it was still doing it. I've ruled out that the possibility that somethings wrong with my video cards because my 7600gt was in perfect working order when i replaced it. Is there something else wrong with my motherboard that im not aware of?

Hard Drive Beeps, 2 Beeps Then Repeats

Trying to add a second harddrive, which is wd 120gb. But when i plug it in (in same place where my other 80gb hd works) the hard drive beeps, (2 beeps) and then repeats. Depending on jumper settings somtimes it will continue to load, (with beeps) havnt let it go to far, bcoz i figure beeps are tellin me somthing is wrong, and somtimes shuts down after 15 or so seconds. What shall i do? On primary socket i have os hd, and cd-rom, on secondary ide i did have 80gb, set to master i believe, which worked fine. My goal would be to have all 3 working, as i need to copy data from one to other, however i would settle for just having new 120gb working and 80gb not there install.

When Using Mouse Computer Beeps And Cursor Freezes

Its nothing to do with any program but like when im using my mouse i just get some beeps from the computer like 1beep, 2beeps, 1beep then my mouse will freeze and i either get movement back and its all ok or the cursor freezes but everything else is ok, i will give 2 examples

1. I was on the desktop, msn messenger was dl'ing and i just finished updating direct x. The folder with everything i extracted i highlighted and tried to move then i got those beeps and the cursor froze, but msn continued dl'ing and then completed! I reset and installed it, wasnt even corrupt or owt. 2. As i was filling out system specs in user cp now, i went to click on the privacy thing if i want others to see my specs and as i clicked i got the beeps but i got movement back, then a few mins later as i tried to scroll down same thing but im still going. Now as im writing this im running blend test on orthos and 50 mins so far. Also i have speedfan running. - Ram? Maybe a possiblity but surely orthos would have shown that by now?
- Cpu overheating? But idle im 25 degrees and right now under 100% load im 40 degrees
- Psu? Not enough power or something? But i aint got a powerhouse rig really. Any help is appreciated! And the beep happend again now! Also, i checked the manual if the beeps meant anything and nothing, but any beeps you get is when post, not in windows.

Computer Beeps And Resets When Playing Old Game

When i tried to play the old game of myst after a few minutes my computer would always beep and crashed (instantly reset). I have award bios and accordgin to some websites the alternating high/low beeps i heard one or two seconds before the crash means exactly: "either the cpu is not seated properly or the cpu is damaged. May also be due to excess heat. Check the cpu fan or bios settings for proper fan speed. " I don't know why it only did that with the crappy old game of myst. I do crazy things with my pc and my temps are always fine even with my oc. Once i got a look at the temps while it was beeping like that and they were perfectly nomal (for me 56 is normal, and my warning beep is set to 66 and i know the beep is different anyways) so guys, was myst doing something bad to my cpu or is something wrong with my computer? Well also just wondering cuz i went back to stock speeds and myst works fine? When it was oc'd it survived stressprime for a few hours before i decided it was enough and it never crashed on me.

Pc Crashes On All Games

I built a new comp this week with a bunch of new parts and some canabalized old parts from my previous pc. Installed windows vista, works for everything else but always crashes about 10-15 minutes into playing games (hl2, m2tw, wic). First i updated all drivers for the mobo, graphics card, hd audio, wireless networking. Also the bios on the mobo. Still the same problem. I thought it might be a vista problem so i used this 94010 hotfix. Still the same problem. Next i tried doing a dual boot with vista and xp to see if i could play games with xp. Still the same problem in xp which makes me believe it is a hardware issue. So i'm thinking the 2 most suspect things are the power supply (since it's old and doesn't have the expanded connections) and the ram (since it's old and i've heard that vista doesn't handle 4 ram dimms too well). However i don't want to dump another $200-300 without asking for any advice. Is there anyone out there who can help?

System With Xp Crashes

I've noticed that the crashes occur mostly (lately it seems only) the first time i boot the system on a daily basis. It starts windows xp without problems, but give it 15 minutes or so. Sometimes much less, sometimes a lot longer. And *poof* blackscreen and reboots. I deactivated the "reboot on system crash" option in windows xp to get some sort of blue screen. It gave me one of those 0x0000000 stop errors, but the error i got didn't give me any reasonable results with google. Tons of errors that "looked" like it, but not the same code. The blue screen made some "suggestions" which brought me to the memory and the video card. "Maybe it's this. Maybe it's not"; nothing conclusive in the blue screen. Tried to access adress; page fault kinda error. But the tests gave me pass as result! What tests?

Random Freezes, Crashes

Turned pc on tonight after work, and after a few minutes i got a windows error saying superfecth had stopped working, then svchost was closing and my wireless network lost its connection. I rebooted and ran spybot s+d, only came up with the usual (tracking cookies etc, no real threats) installed and ran avg and half way through the scan my pc froze, i had to hard reboot to fix it, upon doing so i went into bios and undone my oc just incase it was hardware related, rebooted once more. Tried to run avg again and halfway through i got a bsod, somthing about "irq less or not equal"

Anyways i cant figure out what the *** is going on so i posted a hijackthis log in the hopes someone might be able to tell me wether theres anything there that might be causing this weird behaviour.

Stumped On System Build Crashes

Hardware install went fine, i installed the newest drivers for forceware, nforce chipset drivers and i installed the updates for the soundblaster as well as installing all the windows updates. The pc runs fine except when playing games, it randomly crashes in far cry and hl2/source games. There is no bsod the computer just stops and the last sound stutters for a moment and then it reboots. I don't see anything suspicious is event viewer other than a few "an error was detected on device deviceharddisk0d during a paging operation. " Entries in the system log, but these aren't happening when the crashes occur. When i open the mini dump file i think it's telling me nv4_mini.sys is the problem which i know is a video card driver file. I ran memtest86 for 8 hours and didn't get any errors.nvidia monitor says 34c cpu 38c system 62c gpu. Ive tried older drivers, newer drivers, updating the bios, doing a reformat/reinstall, checked all the bios settings, and trying different video settings in game and in windows. Im trying to figure out what to troublshoot next can anyone please give me a clue?
