Asus P4p800 Support With Antec Power Supply

I'm looking to replace my faulty ic7 running a p4 3. 0 northwood and 1gb of corsair xms 3200 and i'm down to the p4p800-e deluxe and the p4c800-e deluxe. Now, i was about to buy the p4p800 but i realized that it has serious problems with antec true power supplies, which i own(antec true 480 to be precise). So, my question is, is this a serious issue, should i buy the p4c800, or will the p4p800 be ok, and should i consider a refurb p4c800 even if i plan on ocing as they are much cheaper on newegg.

Antec Power Supply Failure

I've built quite a few desktop pcs systems, from motherboards, etc. And, i've also repaired quite a few machines (e.g.compaq, hp, gateway, etc). It seems that power-supplies are the failure point much more often than i had expected. Once again, a couple of days ago, on a six-month old machine i own and built, (with good fans, no overclocking, etc), i inserted a 2nd ethernet-pci card into it, and when i brought it up for the first time, it wouldn't boot. (No smoke or noises. )The little activity light seemed to indicate random action, just as though it was seeking the disk and booting, but nothing ever showed up at the console, not even initial bios output. So, i took the case-side off, and hooked up my little power-supply tester-unit. Sure enough, one of the tester's multiple green lights did not light up, and that red 'danger' light on the tester did light up! [It's a fairly nice antec 400-watt supply, which is plenty of wattage for this system. It is an antec model sp-400 'smartpower'. ]

Any advice or comments about how often power-supplies fail, or thoughts about why this one might have?

Antec 550w Truepower Power Supply Problem

Last night i shutdown my pc and everything was fine. This morning i tried to boot it up and nothing. I believe my antec 550w truepower power supply has gone bad. The fans did not turn on, no led lights on the mobo or anything else. It was just like it was unplugged. Is there anyway to determine if it has shorted out my motherboard, hard drive, graphic card, etc. ?

Antec Truepower 330w Power Supply Problem

Is this psu any good? I'm thinkin of upgrading my power situation , simply because my +12v rails are shockingly low 11. 19) and this antec 330w psu, is readily available in my small neck of the woods. I am currently runnin 2 psu's wired together (a 250w ibm slaved to a generic 300w). All my fans and drives run off the 250w , while the 300w powers the mobo and the vid card only.

Antec Truepower Ii 550w Atx12v Power Supply

I am going to be building a computer soon and need help with the power supply. I am happy with the antec tpii 550w , but would like to know if the current it supplies is enough for:

Asus p5ld2 - deluxe
Pentium d 830
2x512mb ddr2 533mhz
Leadtek 7800gtx

The two +12v rails supply 19a each. On the leadtek website it says the card needs a minimum of 26a. Can the two +12v currents be combined to supply enough power to the card.

650 Watt Antec Earthwatt Power Supply

It's worked fantastically for a 9800gtx and an intel e8400 dual-core, but i'm upgrading to an amd 965 black edition quadcore and (possibly) a gtx460. I keep getting different results from various power supply calculators, and i'd like to know if a power supply upgrade is in order. If i were to upgrade, i'd basically step up one notch to a cooler master 750 watt, since they're on sale on newegg. I don't have much other super power-consuming stuff, just 2 80mm casefans and one 120mm fan, 2 sticks of ddr3 ram, 2 7200rpm hdds, and a dvd-rw drive. So in total, i'm asking if a 650 watt power supply can run:

1x amd phenom ii x4 965 black edition

2x 7200 rpm hard drives

2x ddr3 1066 ram

1x dvd-rw drive

1x gtx 460 video card

2x 80 mm fans

1x 120 mm fan

9800 Gx2 Support Antec True Power True 650 Watt

So now i know that my antec true power true 650 watt should support a 9800 gx2, but now, what about 2 9800gtx's in sli, i've heard that they together are more powerful then one gx2 and are about the same price as one.

Power Supply Adapter To Use Asus Laptop In Uk

What do i need to buy so i can use my asus laptop in the uk? I am a uk citizen visiting my finance in the usa, we bought an asus ul50v laptop whilst here as i intend on moving here permanently. I have to go back to the uk for a little while and i wish to take my laptop with me, what can i use to convert the wattage or what power supply adapter can i buy?

I previously asked this question here and it has remained unanswered for 3 days so by power adapter is it the 'entire assembly including the ac adapter', or just the cord leading up to the ac adapter with the correct end?

If i need to buy a whole new assembly would this work with my laptop: http://amzn. To/f6gwht

If not where would i find somewhere that does sell what i need?

Upgrade Asus P4p800-e Deluxe

Well, after about a year and half of my 2. 4c @ 3. 48 ghz in an asus p4p800-e deluxe and one 512 mb stick of corsair xl series ram, i've gotten the upgrade bug. Before i do anything stupid though, i am wondering how much performance improvement i can expect. To be honest, i don't do any gaming, just a lot of video editing and encoding. I've also been out of the game for about six months, so i'm not even sure what's out there anymore. I have done some reading, and it seems a venice core amd is a good option, as would a 6 series intel. Will i see much performance improvement for less than $400 for both motherboard and processor (i guess i may have to get new ram too). I guess i should mention that i do have a ram divider (320 mhz in bios) and my ram timings are adjusted up (2. 5-3-3-6). This processor and overclock have been great, but i feel like fiddling again. Also, strange question. I have seen a temp increase in the last month or so. Asus probe is showing 32 for mother board and 36 for cpu at idle - 33 and 47 during torture test. Are these temps okay (used to be about four degrees lower on cpu and about the same on mb)?

Asus P4p800 Memory Upgrade

I currently have 512mb pc-3200 and i need to upgrade to 1gb. I will be playing resource-demanding games such as battlefield 2. I would like to keep in the $100 range, i will go as high as $120 if its worth it. Here are the rest of my specs:

Asus p4p800 (the old original one, not deluxe or anything)
Pentium 4 3. 0 ghz ht
Geforce fx 5900 128mb
Wd 80gb 7, 200 w/ 8mb cache

I won't be upgrading my cpu/mobo anytime soon, so i don't need anything beyond pc3200. There are so many brands out there, lots of which supposedly suck at running games. If you can't tell me what to get, tell me what not to get.

Asus P4p800 Se Ide1 Problem

What a day. Finally got the asus board i wanted to replace my intel d865perl board. What a hunk of junk that thing was, 2 dead pci slots and dead audio ports and i've only had it 5 months. I happily tore apart my computer and put the new board in. Was not surprised when it didn't boot up. I never do things right the first time. I forgot to plug in my video card lol so i did that and then all the fans lit up and it seemed ok, except nothing came on the monitor. After several hours of plugging and unplugging this and that, i finally decided i should reset the processor and ram. Now, i was nervous about this. Cuz my processor had gotten stuck to the bottom of my heatsink. I tried to pry it off, but didn't because i didn't want to break it. I finally got it off, only to find i'd bent a bunch of pins. I unbent them and reseated the processor and ram, and poof, video was working. Whew!

But now, a new problem. The board isn't finding my hard drives on ide1. It finds my cd/dvd burner on ide2, but not the hard drives. I unplugged both and plugged the hard drives into ide2, and whaddya know, it worked. I thought maybe my cable had gone bad, though unlikely since it was working fine with the old board. But just to humor the new board, i used a brand new cable. Still nothing on ide1. What the? Anybody know of any tricks i should try before considering sending this board off to be fixed or replaced?

Usb 2.0 On Asus P4p800 Deluxe

You see my usb ports on the mobo do recognize the usb mouse which i am using right now, but whenever i plug in a usb device that has mass storage capability (flash drive, digi camera, cellphone) it does not recognize it and in the case of the flash drive it even slows down the pc, and the machine kinda acts as if it is "stuttering". I have win xp sp2, 1gig of ram, 2. 8ghz prescott, and the mobo is asus p4p800-deluxe. I even reinstalled windows because of this. I tried to remove all the usb devices in the device manager, but still no luck.

Asus P4p800 - Sata And Ide At Same Time

I have 2 hard drives and 2 optical running on the ide channels of my p4p800 board - the hard drives on primary, and the optical on secondary. I want to add a sata hard drive (74 gb raptor) to my configuration, and make it my boot drive. Obviously, to do so i would need to use the sata, primary ide, and secondary ide all at the same time. I've seen some conflicting information in different places, including here, so here's what i want to know. 1. Is it possible to run both ide and sata at the same time?

2. What quirks should i know about if i'm trying to do this? (I've heard of people having problems getting the sata drive to be the boot drive, for example)

3. Can i use both primary and secondary ide channels while using sata? I read on another forum somewhere that certain gigabyte models allow you to use primary ide or sata, but not both at the same time; i want to make sure that won't be a problem with my asus board. 4. If i can't run all my sata and ide devices at once directly through the mobo, will a controller card allow me to? If so, what would you recommend?

Asus P4p800-e Deluxe Motherboard Bios Issues

I have p4p800-e deluxe asus motherboard. Ami (american megatrends inc. ) Bios, date 09/05/05
After i installed a new intel p4 cpu 3. 20ghz every time i boot the machine up i get:

American megatrends

New cpu installed! Please enter setup to configure your system. Press f1 to run setup
Press f2 to load default values and continue

First i thought cmos battery is flat, but then i noticed that the bios does keep the time so it can't be the battery. Checked it anyways but it was good. While i'm there i also checked all the jumpers that could cause this but everything was fine. Running out of solutions i downloaded a utility and the latest bios from asus website, flashed the bios as instructed but no luck - still get the message.

Asus / Antec Compatibility Issues

My computer wouldn't boot, and i think i finally figured out why. My setup uses an antec neopower he 550w and an asus p5nd2 sli deluxe motherboard. I've read that there's compatibility issues with certain asus mobos and antec neopower psu's, so i have a question:

Is the my psu incompatible with the asus p5nd2? I've searched for the answer online but can't find anyone else with the same issue.

Power Supply Problem

I have been messing with my two computers trying to upgrade them with the parts from one putting them into the other, since the computers are almost the same. Well, as soon as i plug in the power cord to the power supply, it sounds like it is starting up for a second, then shuts off. Then the computer wont start at all. It seems like a fried power supply to me, but i wanted to get other peoples opinions. What could it be besides fried?

Power Supply Wattage

My brother's power supply died and he asked me to help him find a replacement. He built the computer about 3 maybe 4 years ago so it's due for a memory upgrade at the least and probably a new processor. The old supply is 400 watts, but i'd rather he bought a better one, maybe 500 or 600 watts at least so that he can upgrade later without a problem. Will a higher wattage affect his current hardware?

Possible Power Supply Issue

I have a system i built myself i have a asus motherboard and amd sempron 2800 1. 7 ghz processor with a 350 watt power supply, 512 ram, dvd combo drive and 80 gb hard drive. I have this problem where i can run windows pro fine for a average amount of time and after i do a shutdown and the system completely shuts down i push the power button to bring back up the system and only the fans come on. No power what so ever to my hard drive or dvd burner and obviously my motherboard isn't getting power either. What have to do is unplug the power from the back of my power supply for about 15 min and plug it back in and everything on my system get all the power back to it.

Atx Power Supply Question

I need a psu, but the server i need it for has a strict 24pin atx connector (not a 20+4 or any other variation). That's compaq for you. Check the pin config and let me know which psu i should purchase. Links to newegg or tigerdirect are appreciated. I really couldn't find a decent 24 pin atx psu @ newegg. I'd like to get a quality psu like an enermax, because this is a server after all and it will be on all the time. The original is beginning to die (fan starts going nuts).

Power Supply Problem / Spark

Today i had my second antec 300 watt smart power go boom on me. When i say boom, i mean boom. Sparks and loud noise then the air smells funny like burnt wire. I have no clue what can be causing this. I have my other machine (with an enermax power supply) plugged into the same power strip(which may be the problem). Any ideas of what can be causing this? Could the motherboard be causing this some how or am i just really unlucky with power supplies?

Problem With Case / Power Supply

I bought a case and put some older components into it to build a new system. When i powered up the monitor would never come on so i tried replacing each component. I add new motherboard, new processor - all with the same problem. I do not even get a signal to the monitor or bios info or anything. The only thing left to replace is the case/power supply. Is there something i should be taking into consideration when buying a case/powersupply - i had thought that was fairly straightforward?
The case is: jnc 4ja h7650 blue type 3 atx midi tower case 300w psu front usb firewire & audio, my motherboard (msi km2m combo) has on-board graphics & ddr and sdram (i've tried both) bought as i thought initially the graphics card might be a problem.

Power Supply With Pentium 4 System

Anyway, i am planning on building a pentium 4 system and was wondering what power supply to use. I have used psu "calculators", but is it okay to go with more wattage than it says. Computer Shuts Down Power Supply

My randomly shuts down after about an hour or so and when i try and turn it back on it lasts about 1 minuit then it switches off again. After about 3 times trying to turn it on it beeps about 4 times then it says "cpu overheated" then some windows restore stuff then it switches off, at first i thought that it could be that the processor fan wasn't working because when i took the cover off the metal bits around the fan were very hot. I dont know what to do about this and i have no idea what is not working. I don't know why the cpu is overheating because the fan that cools the processor is spinning. If there is a fan on the power supply i dont think it is spinning because i cant feel any air coming out. My motherboard is an asus p5gdc and there is a a nvidia geforce pcx 5750 plugged into the pci-e x 16 slot and there is a modem which i have never used in one of the pci slots and two 256mb sticks of ram in the blue slots and thats all. There is a fan in the back of the case, a fan covering the processor i think there is meant to be a fan in the power supply and there is a fan in the side. Does anyone have any idea what this problem is and what can i do about it. It normally shuts down when im playing games. The only games i play are the sims 2 and halo, my problem first started when i was playing sims 2, the first times it happened it didnt shut down, it only restarted. Then it started to shut down and keep shutting down with the cut out time becoming shorter and shorter. Anyone had this problem before?
