After Booting Monitor Goes Straight Into Standby Mode

I recently got a new case, and after removing everything, and installing them into the new case, i get a blank screem. The computer appears to be booting, but the monitor goes straight into standby mode when i turn it on. Whilst i had the case open, i installed a new heatsink fan on my 9800 pro, which i thought may have been the problem, but i have used an old 4000xt, which was previously housed in this computer. Still, blank monitor. I've already tried it with just the old 4000xt in, without soundcard and 9800 pro (the old one is pci ops: ), should i try it with just one stick of ram as well, or without the hdd connected. I don't think it is a broken monitor, as when i remove the cable from the gfx, i get a 'no signal' error on the monitor. Update: i've managed to pass post and beep, but the monitor goes stright into standby with either gfx, well it is in standby, and doesnt turn on shall we say - when i turn it off, and on again, its on green for a few seconds before it goes onto its orange standby colour.

Monitor Stuck In Standby Mode

My pc has run perfect for about 2 months now. But the other day i was on it and it suddenly crashed. I waited for a while but it still remained frozen. So i restarted it but there was no display on my mointor, it's like stuck in standby mode it's just stays on the orange light not the green. At first i thought it may of been the video card so i swapped it with a gforce 4 and still it stays in standby mode. It's not the monitor cause it's working fine with this pile of junk for a pc im having to use now. Anyone have any ideas whats causing this problem.

Computer In Standby Mode Never Came Back

I accidentally pressed the little moon key on the dynex keyboard connected to my desktop pc which although normally causes the pc to enter stand-by apparently means "commit suicide"! I saw a message that said the system was entering stand-by and i have as of yet been unable to get the machine to wake from it's slumber. I've completely powered off the system and disconnected the power cord and i've tried the cmos jumper trick as well. I can't even get a post screen with no thing plugged in but the video card and monitor!

I've removed the cmos battery and will let the system discharge over night so i'll post back in the morning, but any other suggestions would be appreciated! I have never encountered a case of a computer being this difficult to get out of standby, so i'm afraid the problem must run deeper than that.

Eee 701 Stuck In Standby Mode

I have a eee701 (one of the original 4gb) i installed windows xp (a small condensed version of it) but it still has most of the things we usually need. It has worked for the past year with no hiccups. Recently i put my computer lid down (as i usually do) so it can go into standby mode. I may have been downloading something while i did this. However, this time, when i tried to open the monitor again after, my screen was black. My mouse could move, and all the fn (functions) could work just fine. I can change contrast, turn off and on internet.

However, it is stuck on a black screen nevertheless. No key stroke, no monitor changing can make the black screen change. If i plug any usb mouse, usb chargers, they all work. But it just seems like its stuck at a black screen. I have tried all the f8 start up options (use last good config, safe mode), but they don't change the situation either. I have taken out the battery, and also just tried to let the laptop load for 10 - 15 minutes. But this not working either.

So in summary:

1) after windows loading screen = screen is black with a working mouse
2) monitor does not display anything else besides a mouse, but all other functions are or seems to be working. 3) bios and f8 can be accessed fine

Someone mentioned that i should try taking out the cmo battery from the motherboard? Is it that possible with a eee 701?

No Mouse / Keyboard Or Video On Resume From Pc Standby Mode

Well everything was working great, now i'm getting no keyboard, mouse or video when i resume from pc standby mode. The keyboard will trigger the resume as it should but nothing comes up. To get anything i have to restart the computer, in which case it tells me my 48 hours orthos tested overclock fails. Should add, disabling the overclock doesn't make a difference.

Monitor Stuck In Standby

I spent much of yesterday with my partner (guy) re-building my old knackered pc with a new motherboard, processor, graphics card and ram yesterday. Basically all i salvaged was the psu, dvd drive and the hard drives. The main guts of the machine has been replaced. Guy ran the machine through his monitor and set up windows 7 on the machine and it was all working like a charm at his house. I brought the machine home this morning and hooked it up to my monitor, an f-419 neovo 19" lcd and i can't get the monitor to come out of standby mode. The machine boots and you can hear the internal beeps but the monitor light goes orange and the screen stays black. It looks like this is a reasonably common problem but i can't find any topics online that fit my problem exactly.

Can anyone suggest what may be the cause of my problems and how i can solve it? Unfortunately i don't have a spare monitor i can test but i'm fairly sure there is nothing wrong with my monitor as it worked fine with the machine before it was upgraded. If it were a resolution problem i'd expect the monitor to at least show signs of life until windows loaded . But i don't get anything at all on the monitor. T find any topics online that fit my problem exactly. Can anyone suggest what may be the cause of my problems and how i can solve it? Unfortunately i don

Disable Second Monitor While First Monitor Is In Fullscreen Mode

Is there an automated way to disable the second attached monitor whenever the first monitor goes into full-screen mode with an ati video card (hd 4870)? I have a few games that don't like my second monitor being attached and this would be better than having to always disable my second monitor.

Monitor Mode Not Supported

I have a samsung monitor and when i connect it to pc it says "mode not supported" with black background?

Answer:- your video adapter is currently set to a mode that the monitor cannot display. If it does not adjust itself automatically (many drivers will sense the mismatch and correct the problem automatically in a few seconds) set the display resolution to something that it can handle (1024 x 768 is almost always safe) and 60 hz refresh and connect it. Reboot and then go in and adjust the resolution to the monitor's native display resolution for the best performance.

Computer Chair That Will Encourage Sitting Up Straight

I currently have a few leather office chairs that are somewhat comfortable. However, which ever chair i give to my mother. She is always slouching. This is a bit of a concern to me because she spends excess hours on the computer. Close to 12 hours a day. She seems to be slouching too much and im beginning to notice that it is effecting her posture, and she's starting to look a little hunched. I was wondering if you guys had any recommendations on a computer chair in the 150-200$ price-point, that will either encourage, or even force you to sit completely upright and not slouch.

When i boot up my computer during the boot process my monitor goes blank and displays "mode not supported, 36hz. Etc" something like that. Anyone know anything might cause this, its a flat screen mag i believe". It does this for most of the boot process and then when it comes to logging in, it shows back up and everything is fine. Edit: would going to windows property/advance/monitor and changing the refresh rate to 60hz. Would that help this issue? I cant test this now seeing that i'm at work.

Monitor Error - Not Optimum Mode

So i have a syncmaster 2233sw and everytime i open a blizzard game such as starcraft or warcraft, the monitor displays the error, "not optimum mode, recommended mode: 1920x1080, 60 hz" then after like 20 seconds the screen goes black. Answer:- select your monitor's resolution to 1920x1080, 60 hz (if ur monitor supports that) and also run the game by configuring the game's display settings to 1920x1080, 60 hz. It'll work fine, first check if ur monitor does have 1920x1080, 60 hz compatibility

Pc Wont Boot And Monitor Switches Into Power Saving Mode

My problem is that my pc won’t start up. First, the monitor sets on (green light) but then immediately switches into power saving mode (no view at all), and meanwhile the pc boots up, runs for about 10 seconds, and then the internal speaker recites a beep code (once only). I’ve recorded it, so it can be heard at http://media. Putfile.com/bios-beep-code. The pc won’t show any image on the monitor when starting up, not at any point, the monitor just goes straight to power saving mode. My motherboard is asus a8n-sli deluxe, bios rev. 1016. Ok, here's what i've got so far:

I have booted the pc with only the motherboard, the video card, the processor and the power supply unit on. The beep code still persists, listen here: http://media. Putfile.com/bios-beep-code. Then i took off the video card, and the beep didn't change.could this mean that the card is responsible since the monitor doesn't show any image, and because the card isn't registering at all, and thus producing the beep whether it is onboard or not? Or should i look at the power supply unit, the motherboard or the processor, all unlikely?

I've ruled out the ram as the cause of the problem, i've got 4 sticks of it and i've tested each stick individually. Also, the psu does generate power to the pc as it does go on, the power light is on, the gpu led is on as is the motherboard led. The fans are all working as well. I've also re-set the cmos, replaced the cmos battery and double checked all the wirings in the pc. I've left the psu and the monitor cables detached from anything for more than an hour to clear any static charges as well. All the dusty parts have been cleaned. Well, as i have an award bios, the beep code suggests that it's the video card that's the problem here. The problem is, that i haven't got another card to test, and no compatible pc to test the current card in. Should i buy a new card? It'll be an expensive step, and i dare not go there if i'm not sure. I've recorded the whole start-up process with all the loading clicks in case of anything unusual, you can listen to it here: http://media. Putfile.com/pc-start-up-sounds. Tell me if you hear anything out of place other than the beep code. What i'd like to know now, is that what is the most likely culprit? I can and will replace it, but i'm not keen on having to replace the video card, the psu, the motherboard and the processor before the set-up finally works.

Monitor Connected To Laptop In Extended Desktop Mode Not Working

Why wont halo combat evolved run through an alternate monitor connected to my laptop in extended desktop mode? I have it all set up with my new 20" monitor connected to my laptop, using the extended desktop feature. The are connected through the normal blue monitor cable, and i have a 512mb ati radeon graphics card. I can run every other game i have, including cod 4, 6, crysis, halo 2 etc on the monitor, perfect, but i start halo combat evolved and it just has a black box in the middle of my screen?

I can run it on my laptop without my monitor plugged in. And i have fiddled around with the resolution because i feared halo might not support what ever resolution i have now (1600x something - forgot lol), but ive tried everything and i cantt gett it to work.

Monitor Stuck In Power Save Mode After Coming Back From Long Idle

Not sure if this is os, display or graphics card trouble; i have my displays set to turn off after 15 minutes of inactivity in windows 7 with a nvidia gtx 260. If i come back to the computer, after it has been idle for a long time (especially when logged out) the secondary display will turn on but the primary display will be stuck in power save mode. When i move the mouse or hit a key, the secondary display (dell 2407wfp) shows the wallpaper image or blank screen if logged out but effectively turns back "on".

The primary display (dell 2408, much newer) flickers for a sec, shows the dvi icon, then goes back to power save mode and turns off as if its not getting a signal from the graphics card. Turning the monitor on or off again does not solve the problem. Restarting the computer (holding down the power button) does solve the problem, but i'd rather not hard-restart it like that every time i come back to my computer. Sometimes by bringing a window to the foreground on the primary display, such as pressing ctrl alt del then opening task manager blind, or right clicking on the secondary display and opening the nvidia control panel, i can get the display to turn back on.

Standby Battery

Basically i have got a problem with my dell latitude d500 laptop. I was using it with no problems, until i moved to a different room, when i got there i noticed that the computer had turned itself off, i tried to turn it back on but it wouldn't start up. Whenever i press the power button 4 lights come on, the speakers click once and the lights go back off after a couple of seconds. I tried removing the standby battery and preesing the power button and the same thing happened, so i replaced the battery. Now with the new battery in i have the same problem. Is there anything special i need to do after replacing the battery? Is there anything else that could be causing the problem?

Computer Freezes Starting Up, Shutting Down, Standby

I don't know why but my computer has started freezing when its started up, shutting down, or coming out of standby. At start up it doesn't make it to the post screen, everything turns on and then just sits there, nothing shows up on the display. Same thing with standby. On shutdown it will freeze at the "windows xp is shutting down" screen. I have to either hit the restart button to get it to start up and come out of standby or i have to hold the power button for 4 secs to get it to shutdown. I didn't have these problems till about 1 week ago when i received my dell 2407wfp-hc, i doubt this would be the cause though.

Computer Disconnects From Internet When Put On Standby

My computer sometimes disconnects from the internet when i put it on standby. Okay, when it comes back on, sometimes my internet has simply stopped working. The network connections page will tell me it's still working though. It says it can't renew the ip address when i try to make it repair itself, unplugging and replugging the internet cord has no effect, and if i try to disable and then enable it, it doesn't register that i've disabled it unless i shut it down and start it up again. Which is also the only thing that gets the internet working again. Does anybody have any idea what might be causing this, and what i can do to stop it?
